A kernel estimator of the squared $L_2$-norm of the intensity function of a Poisson random field is defined. It is proved that the estimator is asymptotically unbiased and strongly consistent. We consider the class (k;w), k ∈ [0,2], w ∈ ℂ, of plane domains Ω called k-starlike with respect to the point w. An analytic characterization of regular and univalent functions f such that f(U) is in (k;w), where w ∈ f(U), is presented. In particular, for k = 0 we obtain the well known analytic condition for a function f to be starlike w.r.t. w, i.e. to be regular and univalent in U and have f(U) starlike w.r.t. w ∈ f(U).

Theorem 5.1 of the present paper characterizes the range of the linear map $T → Tϕ_{•}$ defined on $L(L_{ϰ}^{1}(ℝ^{+});E)$, generalizing a result established by B. Hennig and F. Neubrander for $ϰ(t)=e^{ωt}$. If ϰ ≡ 1 and E =ℝ then Theorem 5.1 reduces to D. V. Widder's characterization of the Laplace transform of a function in $L^{∞}(ℝ^{+})$. Some applications of Theorem 5.1 to the theory of one-parameter semigroups of operators are discussed. In particular a version of the Hille-Yosida generation theorem is deduced for $C_0$ semigroups $(S_t)_{t ∈ \overline{ℝ^{+}}}$ such that $sup_{t ∈ \overline{ℝ^{+}}} (ϰ(t))^{-1}∥ S_t∥ < ∞$.

Opis:
This paper is a study of a general class of stochastic games with an atomless measure space of players and an arbitrary time space. The payoffs of the players depend on their own strategy, the trajectory of the system and the function with values being finite dimensional statistics of static profiles. The players' available decisions depend on the trajectories of the system. The paper deals with relations between the static and dynamic equilibria as well as the existence of dynamic equilibria. The results are counterintuitive and much stronger than the results that can be obtained in games with finitely many players. An equivalence theorem is proven between the dynamic equilibrium (according to various definitions) and the family of static equilibria corresponding to it. Theorems on the existence of dynamic equilibria are shown as consequences. Theoretical results of the paper are illustrated by examples describing the exploitation of common ecological systems in which "the tragedy of the commons" appears.
Artykuł przedstawia studium ogólnej klasy gier stochastycznych opisanych na ciągłych przestrzeniach graczy i dowolnych przestrzeniach czasu. Wypłaty graczy zależą od ich własnej strategii, trajektorii układu oraz funkcji o wartościach będących skończenie wymiarowymi statystykami profili statycznych. Dostępne graczom decyzje zależą od trajektorii układu. W artykule rozważa się zależności między rozwiązaniami (stanami równowagi) statycznymi i dynamicznymi, a także istnienie rozwiązań dynamicznych. Otrzymane wyniki są niezgodne z intuicją i znacznie silniejsze niż wyniki, jakie mogą być otrzymane dla gier ze skończoną liczbą graczy. Dowiedziono twierdzenia o równoważności między rozwiązaniem dynamicznym (według różnych definicji) a rodziną rozwiązań statycznych, odpowiadającą temu rozwiązaniu dynamicznemu. Wykazano następnie prawdziwość twierdzeń o istnieniu rozwiązań dynamicznych jako konsekwencję poprzedniego twierdzenia. Wyniki teoretyczne, przedstawione w artykule, zostały zilustrowane przy pomocy przykładów opisujących wykorzystanie wspólnych systemów zasobowych, w których pojawia się nadmierna eksploatacja w postaci tzw. "tragedy of the commons".

The question of identity is discussed by way of characterising seven styles of permanent conduct according to a selected formula and rule of presence in interhuman life. One speaks here also about games for identity, that is efforts to gain this permanence of conduct. The styles have been chosen that contain the idea of mission-function. The styles and games concerning identity have been discussed: a fundamentalist, a revolutionist, a counter-revolutionist, a hunter for murders, a scholar, a writer, and a clown. It has been pointed what each of them chooses, and what each of them rejects despite being in identity. Finally, the thesis has been justified: the game for identity is a series of decisions, and the choice of the formula of identity is the choice of a matrix of values and goals and the matrix of ways and means.

Przedmiotem rozważań jest analiza głównych założeń etyki czci dla życia Alberta Schweitzera, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem trudności, na jakie ona napotyka. Zasadnicza trudność wynika z rozwiązywania dylematów moralnych związanych z realizacji nakazu szacunku dla wszelkich przejawów życia w świecie, w którym życie toczy się z "żoładka do żoładka". Etyka szacunku dla życia, podkreślając moralność autonomii człowieka, każe mu działać wbrew regułom, według, których toczy się życie na Ziemi. Jak zatem pogodzić nieusuwalne zło tego świata z nieustannym obarczaniem ludzkiego sumienia poczuciem winy? Schweitzer uzasadnia etyki czci dla życia przez odwołanie się do metafizycznej woli życia, która wprawdzie jest nie z tego świata, lecz mimo to, stosuje je do świata rzeczywistego. Z tego dualizmu w pojmowaniu życia wywodzą się dylematy moralne jego etyki. Ekofilozofia przezwycięża dualizm Schweitzera w pojmowaniu życia i określa realizację etyki szacunku dla życia w ograniczonym zakresie. W takim zakresie jak to jest możliwe w świecie takim jaki jest.
The subject of this discussion is the analysis of the main assumptions of Albert Schweitzer's ethics of respect for life with emphasis on the difficulties that such ethics faces. The main difficulty lies in the moral dilemmas which result from the implementation of the obligatory respect for all manifestations of life in the world in which life is lead "from stomach to stomach". The ethics of respect for life emphesizes man's moral autonomy and at the same time forces man to live against the rules which govern life on Earth. How can we reconcile the inherent evil of this world with the constant feeling of guilt? Schweitzer justifies the ethics of respect for life by referring to the metaphysical will to life, which is not from this world, but he applies it to the real world. Such dualistic understanding of life gives rise to the moral dilemmas of his ethics. Ecophilosophy may overcome the duality of Schweitzer understanding of life and implements the ethics of respect for life to a limited extent, to an extent which is possible in the world as it is.

Opis:
This works aims at proving the thesis of timeliness of Hippocratic /460- 377 BC/ ethos, Christian ethics and personal model of F. Nightingale /1820-1910/ in the ethos of nurses in the aspect of history. The concept of “ethos” means morality as well as these significant conducts, being the affirmation of specific values distinguishing professional group of nurses. The thought of this thesis focuses on the description of nurses professions ethos in historical aspect, from the times of Hippocrates until 1945 AD. This ethos in historical aspect can also be developed by means of personal standards of moral and nurses authorities and first of all by the principles of Hippocratic ethics, Hippocrates’ ethos and Christian ethics/love of God and man, the charity/ and deontological codes referring to a given specialization of nurses profession. Ethical assumptions of Hippocrates, due to their conformity with natural law, high estimation of life since conception till natural death, respect towards the sick and nurses authorities, the secret of treating, faithfulness to the principle “Primum non nocere”, “Salus aegroti suprema lex esto”, bringing relief in suffering and oath directed to gods, have humanistic, general character and that is why they were adopted by ethos of nurses.
Celem pracy jest udowodnienie tezy, zakładającej aktualność etosu hipokratesowgo, etyki chrześcijańskiej i wzorców osobowych w etosie pielęgniarek analizowanym w aspekcie historycznym. Pojęcie „etos” oznacza określoną moralność, jak i te znamienne postawy, będące afirmacją określonych wartości charakteryzujących grupę zawodową pielęgniarek. Idea tej pracy koncentruje się na omawianiu etosu pielęgniarek w aspekcie historycznym od czasów Hipokratesa /460-377 p.n.e./ do 1945 roku. Etos ten może być również kształtowany przez wzorce osobowe autorytetów moralnych i pielęgniarek, ale przede wszystkim przez zasady etyki medycznej Hipokratesa, etos hipokratesowy, etykę chrześcijańską/ miłość Boga i bliźniego, cnota miłosierdzia/ i kodeksy deontologiczne adekwatne do danej specjalizacji zawodów pielęgniarek. Założenia etyczne Hipokratesa ze względu na zgodność z prawem naturalnym, wysoką ocenę wartości życia od poczęcia do śmierci naturalnej, szacunek do chorego i autorytetów pielęgniarek, tajemnicę leczenia, wierność zasadom „Przede wszystkim nie szkodzić”, „Zdrowie chorego najwyższym prawem”, niesienie ulgi w cierpieniu i przysięgę skierowaną do bogów, mają wymiar humanistyczny, powszechny i dlatego zostały one przejmowane przez kształtujący się etos pielęgniarek.

Stosunek do zwierząt nie jest jedynym, ani najważniejszym czynnikiem charakteryzującym współczesnego człowieka. Jest jednak na tyle istotny, że od kilkudziesięciu lat przykuwa uwagę rosnącego grona naukowcow, specjalistów różnych dziedzin, działaczy społecznych i zwykłych ludzi. Powinien zatem być w większym stopniu wyartykułowany w koncepcji zrównoważonego rozwoju. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie najbardziej charakterystycznych relacji zachodzących między człowiekiem i zwierzęciem dawniej i obecnie oraz zastanowienie się, w jakim kierunku relacje te mogą zmieniać się w przyszłości dalekiej i bliskiej.
The connection between the human and animals is neither the only nor the most important factor typical for the contemporary people. However, it is essential that for some decades it has been focusing attention of growing group of scientists and specialists of different fields, social workers and common people. Therefore, it should be stronger articulated in the conception of sustainable development. The aim of this article is to show the most characteristic relations between people and animals.

The increasing trend concerning loosing respect towards honoured authorities can nowadays be observed in most of the areas of social life. This refers also to universities and decreasing respect towards academics. The study at Karol Adamiecki Univeristy of Economics in Katowice, focused on structure and hierarchy of values declared by its students, were expected to reveal whether this assumption is true. The study characterized reasons for and directions of change in the declared hierarchy of values among the young. It was of high importance to diagnose the core of interactions between students and academics, i.e. to answer a question whether academics employed by the University are perceived by the students as persons whose personal approach and behaviours could be followed. The results show that nowadays academic is not respected as an authority for her/his students. The way to regain respect seems to be based on reinforcement of traditional master (tutor) – student relations, as university is this particular place where this kind of interrelations should develop. The task of building this relation needs time and efforts, as well as sets a high standard for academics to present unimpeachable ethical approach as well as openness towards students and dynamic changes in the environment.

Architekt podejmując “dzisiaj” działalność twórczą dotyka “przeszłości”, a nasza interwencja nastawiona na “przyszłość” już jutro będzie “przeszłością”. Myśląc zatem o architekturze jako trwałym przekazie kulturowym miejsca, odpowiedzialnością architekta-twórcy jest zebranie i przeanalizowanie materiału badawczego dla podejmowania trafnych decyzji projektowych. Współcześnie po wnikliwej merytorycznej analizie materiału badawczego, traktując wynik naszych twórczych działań jako komunikat przestrzenny, oczekujemy społecznego przyzwolenia na proponowanie nowych ekspresywnych form, tworzących dla miejsca przetworzone kody przekazu.
An architect undertaking some creative activity ‘’today”, touches ‘’the future”, and tomorrow our interference directed towards ‘’the future” will be nothing else but ‘’the past”. Therefore, while thinking about architecture as a constant cultural message concerning the place, the architect-creator is obliged to collect and analyse the research material in order to take accurate project decisions. Nowadays, after the thorough analysis of research material, treating the result of our creative activities as a spatial message, we expect social allowance and acceptance for proposing new expressive forms, which create the processed message codes.
