In this paper we study a novel approach to the design of a robust switched controller for continuous-time systems described by a novel robust plant model using quadratic stability and multi parameter dependent quadratic stability approaches. In the proposed design procedure with an output feedback a novel quadratic cost function is proposed which allows to obtain different performance dependence on the working points. Finally a numerical examples are investigated.

The paper addresses the problem of designing a robust output/state model predictive control for linear polytopic systems without constraints. The new robust BMI stability condition for given predictive and control horizon is derived which guarantees the parameter dependent quadratic stability and guaranteed cost. The proposed condition is appropriate for centralized and decentralized control design, as illustrated on example.

Opis:
In this paper, new non-quadratic stability conditions are derived based on the parallel distributed compensation scheme to stabilize Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems. We use a non-quadratic Lyapunov function as a fuzzy mixture of multiple quadratic Lyapunov functions. The quadratic Lyapunov functions share the same membership functions with the T-S fuzzy model. The stability conditions we propose are less conservative and stabilize also fuzzy systems which do not admit a quadratic stabilization. The proposed approach is based on two assumptions. The first one relates to a proportional relation between multiple Lyapunov functions and the second one considers an upper bound to the time derivative of the premise membership functions. To illustrate the advantages of our proposal, four examples are given.

Opis:
In this paper, stabilizing problems in control design are addressed for linear discrete-time systems, reflecting equality constraints tying together some state variables. Based on an enhanced representation of the bounded real lemma for discrete-time systems, the existence of a state feedback control for such conditioned stabilization is proven, and an LMI-based design procedure is provided. The control law gain computation method used circumvents generally an ill-conditioned singular design task. The principle, when compared with previously published results, indicates that the proposed method outper forms the existing approaches, guarantees feasibility, and improves the steady-state accuracy of the control. Furthermore, better performance is achieved with essentially reduced design effort. The approach is illustrated on simulation examples, where the validity of the proposed method is demonstrated using one state equality constraint.

Stability problems concerning the functional equations of the form f(2x + y) = 4ƒ(x) + ƒ(y) + ƒ(x + y) - ƒ(x - y), and ƒ(2x + y) + ƒ(2x -y) = 8ƒ(x) + 2ƒ(y) are investigated. We prove that if the norm of the difference between the LHS and the RHS of one of equations (1) or (2), calculated for a function g is say, dominated by a function φ in two variables having some standard properties then there exists a unique solution ƒ of this equation and the norm of the difference between g and ƒ is controlled by a function depending on φ.

The control problem with random horizon at finie number of events is investigated in this paper, where the general aim of control is the stabilization (in mean square sense) of linear system at minimum cost. This problem is reduced to the task of optima control with established finite horizon. Moreover, the differences between stabilization with fixed and random horizons are also given. To illustrate those differences a numerical example is included.

Continuous-time positive systems, switching among p subsystems whose matrices differ by a rank one matrix, are introduced, and a complete characterization of the existence of a common linear copositive Lyapunov function for all the subsystems is provided. Also, for this class of systems it is proved that a well-known necessary condition for asymptotic stability, namely the fact that All convex combinations of the system matrices are Hurwitz, becomes equivalent to the generally weaker condition that the systems matrices are Hurwitz. In the special case of two-dimensional systems, this allows for drawing a complete characterization of asymptotic stability. Finally, the case when there are only two subsystems, possibly with commuting matrices, is investigated.

In this paper an infinite horizon predictive control algorithm, for which closed loop stability is guaranteed, is developed in the framework of multivariable linear input-output models. The original infinite dimensional optimisation problem is transformed into a finite dimensional one with a penalty term. In the unconstrained case the stabilising control law, using a numerically reliable SVD decomposition, is derived as an analytical formula, calculated off-line. Considering constraints needs solving on-line a quadratic programming problem. Additionally, it is shown how free and forced responses can be calculated without the necessity of solving a matrix Diophantine equation.

This paper describes a computationally efficient (sub-optimal) nonlinear predictive control algorithm. The algorithm uses a modified dual-mode approach which guarantees closed-loop stability. In order to reduce the computational burden, instead of online nonlinear optimisation used in the classical dual-mode control scheme, a nonlinear model of the plant is linearised on-line and a quadratic programming problem is solved. Calculation of the terminal set and implementation steps of the algorithm are detailed, especially for input-output models, which are widely used in practice.

We analyze stability for switched systems which are composed of both continuous-time and discrete-time subsystems. By considering a Lie algebra generated by all subsystem matrices, we show that if all subsystems are Hurwitz/Schur stable and this Lie algebra is solvable, then there is a common quadratic Lyapunov function for all subsystems and thus the switched system is exponentially stable under arbitrary switching. When not all subsystems are stable and the same Lie algebra is solvable, we show that there is a common quadratic Lyapunov-like function for all subsystems and the switched system is exponentially stable under a dwell time scheme. Two numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the result.

We establish a unified approach to stability analysis for switched linear descriptor systems under arbitrary switching in both continuous-time and discrete-time domains. The approach is based on common quadratic Lyapunov functions incorporated with linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). We show that if there is a common quadratic Lyapunov function for the stability of all subsystems, then the switched system is stable under arbitrary switching. The analysis results are natural extensions of the existing results for switched linear state space systems.
