In the current investigation, two primary indicators, including the average roughness (AR) and Brinell hardness (BH) of the roller burnishing operation are enhanced using the optimal inputs (the spindle speed-S, feed rate-f, and depth of penetration-D). The performance measures are developed using the Kriging approach and optimal outcomes are generated by the Crow Search Algorithm (CSA). The optimal outcomes generated by the CSA of the S, f, and D were 832 rpm, 112 mm/min, and 0.12 mm, while the AR was reduced by 37.0% and the BH was increased by 29.9%, respectively. The optimal findings could be utilized in the practice for enhancing the burnished quality and to develop a professional system related to the roller burnishing operation. The Kriging-based AR and BH correlations could be used to present nonlinear experimental data. The optimizing technique could be utilized to deal with optimizing problems for different machining operations.

Opis:
The application of artificial intelligence (AI) in modeling of various machining processes has been the topic of immense interest among the researchers since several years. In this direction, the principle of fuzzy logic, a paradigm of AI technique, is effectively being utilized to predict various performance measures (responses) and control the parametric settings of those machining processes. This paper presents the application of fuzzy logic to model two non-traditional machining (NTM) processes, i.e. electrical discharge machining (EDM) and electrochemical machining (ECM) processes, while identifying the relationships present between the process parameters and the measured responses. Moreover, the interaction plots which are developed based on the past experimental observations depict the effects of changing values of different process parameters on the measured responses. The predicted response values derived from the developed models are observed to be in close agreement with those as investigated during the past experimental runs. The interaction plots also play significant roles in identifying the optimal parametric combinations so as to achieve the desired responses for the considered NTM processes.

Opis:
Purpose The main objective of this research is to study the effect of damping coefficients on the damping strength of shock absorbers using Taguchi Design Experiment (DOE) and rough surface method in Design Expert 7.0.0. Design/methodology/approach To achieve and measure the damping force based on the data analysis in the design program. The effecting parameters are: damping diameter (A), gas pressure nitrogen in damping (B), and suspension velocity(C). Consequently, the experiment was carried out in the lab to measure the damping force based on the data analysis. Findings The experimental results demonstrated that nitrogen gas at a pressure of 40 bars is appropriate for dealing with motorcycles and that optimum parameter values may be achieved using ANOVA (Analysis of Variance), regression analysis, and confirmation studies. Research limitations/implications The measure of the damping force in this process widely depend on the technical specifications of a testing machine. Consequently, machine operating parameters consider the main limiting factor in this process. Practical implications In this current work, a steel spring of (50) mm diameter has been used in this experimental investigation to measure the influence of the damping force based on the data analysis. In addition, optimal working parameter values that maximize the performance were identified. The experimental test was planned and conducted according to the ANOVA (Analysis of Variance). Originality/value The validation of experimental results shows that this analysis gives an average error 5%, it’s also concluded that the gas at a pressure of 40 bars is appropriate for dealing with motorcycles and can be adopted safely.

Opis:
Problems with storage and management of manure from pig farming on the one hand and possibility to use the manure as a renewable source of fertilizer components on the other hand encourage seeking new effective methods of manure management. For reduction of odor emission and costs of storage and transportation as well as for proper preparation of the manure for further treatment, the material has to be separated into solid and liquid fractions. Pig manure taken from one livestock farm in Poland was used in the experiment. The tests comprised mineralization of pig manure components with use of phosphoric and sulfuric acids, lime milk and super phosphate, heat treatment and subsequent filtration with use of pressure filter. Changing in the mineralization parameters of manure allowed obtaining after filtration sediment and filtrating with much diversified chemical and physical properties. In the after filtrate sediment N, P, K, Mg, Ca, K, C, H and dry mass content were analyzed. Phase composition of sediments was determined too. N content in the after filtrate sediment ranged from 0.79 to 1.56% and P content from 8.5 to 14.95%. Efficiency of the suspension filtration process varied within the range of 518–2627 kg/m2/h.
Problemy ze składowaniem i gospodarką obornika pochodzącego z hodowli świń z jednej strony i możliwość wykorzystania nawozu jako odnawialnego źródła składników nawozu z drugiej zachęca do poszukiwań nowych efektywnych metod zarządzania obornikiem. W celu redukcji emisji odoru i kosztów składowania i transportu jak również odpowiedniego przygotowania obornika do następnych obróbek materiał został podzielony na frakcje stałe i płynne. Obornik został pobrany z polskiego gospodarstwa rolnego zajmującego się hodowlą świń i został użyty w eksperymencie. Testy obejmowały mineralizację składników obornika przy użyciu kwasu fosforowego i siarkowego, mleka wapiennego oraz superfosfatu, obróbkę termiczną oraz późniejszą filtrację za pomocą filtra ciśnieniowego. Zmiany parametrów mineralizacji obornika pozwoliły otrzymać osad pofiltracyjny i filtrowanie z dużo bardziej zróżnicowanymi właściwościami chemicznymi i fizycznymi. W osadzie znajdowały się N, P, K, Mg, Ca, K, C, H oraz materia sucha, które zostały poddane analizie. Określono również skład fazowy osadów. Zawartość N w osadzie wynosił od 0,79 do 1,56% a zawartość P od 8,5 do 14,95%. Wydajność procesu filtracji wahała się w zakresie 518 – 2627 kg/m2/h.

This paper examined the influence of various parameters such as fibre fineness, yarn count, distance from the front roller nip point to the hollow spindle, nozzle pressure and yarn delivery speed on the fibre packing pattern in a yarn cross-section for vortex spun yarn. Cross-section images of vortex spun yarns were used to evaluate the fibre packing pattern. Results from different variables influencing the fibre packing pattern for vortex spun yarn were also analysed. The results indicated that the fibre fineness, yarn count, distance from the front roller nip point to the hollow spindle, nozzle pressure and yarn delivery speed are all significant parameters for yarn hairiness and fibre packing density in a vortex spun yarn cross-section.
Badano wpływ grubości włókien, masy liniowej przędzy, odległości przedniej rolki do wydrążonego wrzeciona, ciśnienia w dyszy i szybkości podawania przędzy na upakowanie włókien w przekroju poprzecznym przędzy przędzionej systemem vortex. Zdjęcia przekrojów poprzecznych przędzy zostały wykorzystane dla oceny upakowania włókien. Wyniki analizy rozkładów włókien wykazały, że wszystkie badane parametry mają wydatny wpływ na upakowanie i włochatość w przędzy przędzionej systemem vortex.

The paper presents the research results of relationship between surface roughness reduction index KRa and three input parameters: burnishing speed Vn, feed fn and burnishing force Fn., and all combinations of levels of yields N measured for 48 points of experiment. The experiment was repeated 3 times. In order to select the model describing the results of tests, the stepping approximation analysis was performed. It relayed at incorporated into the model in following steps approximation elements function, giving the biggest decrease of the sum of squared deviations. The first approximation was based on the ternary monomial of the powers from 0 to 3 for each input value. This approximation aim was to show, that the index of surface roughness reduction does not depend on the burnishing speed in the made in the area of research. The reduced input parameters to two, i.e. fn and Fn. The plan of the experiment was brought to N = 12 and M = 12. The best approximation of test results obtained in the case of Laurent polynomial with stepping selection of elements. The biggest contribution to the decrease in the sum of squared deviations was element −1 ∙ 3 , and then fn 2. The article shows that in the range fn {0.6:1.2} there was not information on the successful model and the lack of influence of f and Fn on the results of the experiment. It is postulated to retry the experiment for the feed f <0.6.
