Opis:
Do zebrania danych wykorzystano technikę obserwacji i narzędzie Frostig i Horne’a Test Percepcji Wzrokowej. Wnioski: Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników sformułowano wskazówki do pracy z uczniami w celu usprawnienia ich funkcjonowania w zakresie percepcji wzrokowej we wszystkich badanych aspektach.
Introduction: Visual perception is an important cognitive ability, which influences other skills, including the mastery of school techniques by students with mild intellectual disabilities. An important goal of supporting of childhood education is to develop visual perception in all its aspects. Developing aspects such as hand-eye coordination, perception of figures and background, perception stability, spatial position and perception of spatial relationships has a positive effect on the math skills and writing and reading of early schoolchildren. Research Aim: The aim of the research was to learn about the functioning of students with mild intellectual disability in terms of 5 aspects of visual perception: visual and motor coordination, perception of the figure and background, perception of the constancy of shape, figure position and spatial relations, and to develop practical implications for developing this function. Method: The research used the method of diagnostic survey. The observation technique and the tool of M. Frostig and D. Horne “Visual Perception Test” were used to collect the data. Results: The level of functioning of the examined students with mild intellectual disability in terms of visual perception is below the norm. In all the subjects, a decrease in the level of visual perception was found in 3 of the examined areas; perception of the figure and background, shape and position of the figure. In terms of eye-hand coordination and the perception of spatial relations, the dominant students are those with the tested feature below their age norm.           Conclusions: On the basis of the obtained results, guidelines for working with students were formulated in order to improve their functioning in the field of visual perception in all examined aspects.

World Bank Report 2018, schooling without learning, primary and secondary schools, Nigeria
Opis:
The most often debated topic among stakeholders in education and the generality of Nigerians today is the issue of decline in the quality of education at all levels (primary, secondary and tertiary institutions). To substantiate the foregoing debate, a new World Bank Report (2018) warns of learning crisis in Nigeria and other developing countries which face moral and economic problems because primary and secondary schools fail to equip students with the right education to succeed in life and that without learning, education would fail to deliver on its promise to eliminate extreme poverty and create shared opportunity and prosperity for all. Despite the establishment of Universal Basic Education (UBE) in 1999, which is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring the acquisition of the appropriate levels of literacy, manipulative and life skills as well as the ethical, moral and civic values needed for laying the foundation for lifelong learning for children, have continued to be a mirage. In view of the foregoing, this study examined the factors responsible for schooling without learning in primary and junior secondary schools. Those factors include insuffiient budget allocation to education, lack of adequate infrastructure, lack of qualified teachers and poor remuneration package, and corruption. In addressing the aforementioned factors, this study used World Bank’s (2018) solutions which have four steps. The fist step is to find the truth from facts; the second step is to assess the learning so that it become a measurable goal; the third step is to make schools work for all children and the fourth step is to mobilize everyone who has stake in learning. In addition, recommendations were provided to ensure that the rising case of schooling without learning is eradicated.

Opis:
The interwar period was a time of great significance in the history of the Polish nation. It was characterised by immense enthusiasm because of Poland's newly regained independence, however, the country wrestled with many post-partition problems. One of them was, for instance, a lack of a cohesive administration system resulting from regional administrative differences among the Polish partitioned territories. The main task for education, also in need of adjustment to the new circumstances, was to standardise its system because of the dissimilar educational procedures available in the Second Republic. The new social, political and economic situation also required up-to- date syllabuses and corresponding textbooks. Hence, 31 primers were published in the interwar period. Their reading texts dealt with various thematic fields ; they were, for example, associated with the subject of the family as being close to the children's experience and feelings. The present paper aims at comparing if, and to what extent, the portraits of families presented in the primers were adequate to real models of families in the interwar Poland.

Thesis. The aim of the research is to confirm the role of language as a tool empowering school students to act independently in educational activities and sociocultural environment. This can be achieved by encouraging students to actively participate in educational activities, to learn a language and other academic subjects without any direct input. Methods. The article is based on a scientific literature analysis and monitoring at one of the language integrated learning centres. It studies discussed hereof showcase the importance of language integration and a broader understanding of teaching students the basics of language skills. Results. The analysis shows language skills are a result (synthesis) of abilities and competencies combined by different disciplines and programmes. It is directly related to the methods, measures, situations and environments employed in educational activities. The studies discussed hereof showcase the importance of language integration and a broader understanding of teaching students the basics of language skills. Conclusion. Based on the research results it is possible to distinguish language as an independent learning tool. This is proven by such student skills as high motivation and inclusion; courage and self-confidence; ability to analyse, reason and summarise information; openness to learning; independence; curiosity; focus and concentration. The comparison of the data and the literature analysis allow concluding that this is one of the most resultative methods to develop the language skills of students in an integrated way.

This theoretical paper reviews the major theories and models of learning and views them in the light of two major psychological perspectives of learning; behaviorist and constructivist. The educational process has become the dominant response to challenges in all the domains of modern life. The key to a good primary education is the quality of its teachers. Quality education enables people to develop all of their attributes and skills in order to achieve their potential as human beings and members of society. A deeper understanding of the students’ behavior enables the teacher to help guide them through the educational process. Understanding development, or the long-term changes in growth, behavior, and knowledge, helps teachers to hold appropriate expectations for students as well as to keep students’ individual diversity in perspective. From kindergarten through the end of high school, students double their height, triple their weight, experience the social and hormonal effects of puberty, and improve basic motor skills.

The paper presents the results of a study in which we analysed planning of musical objectives in the psychomotor domain prepared by 372 Slovenian general education teachers. The research results showed high share of objectives pertaining to the taxonomy category of speech behaviours, which was followed by the categories of gross bodily movements, finely coordinated movements and non-verbal communication. The above facts confirm that music objectives can be classified in the prevailing psychomotor domain and show the utilization of a chosen taxonomy model. The research results also indicate that Slovenian general education teachers are aware of the need for active approaches to music teaching although they pay less attention to music objectives planning in the category of non-verbal communication which exceeds the mere use of words and represents the basis for contemporary approach of music teaching through musical doing and making.

Accession of Poland to the European Union induced a variety of changes in different areas of life, including education. A second language was introduced as a compulsory subject in kindergarten and primary school and two compulsory foreign languages in general lower and upper secondary schools. English is the most popular of all languages in all types of schools, regardless of the level of education they represent. Globalization of the English language, the process which can be observed nowadays, has a significant impact on actions taken by schools to popularize learning this language. Therefore, the research was performed with a view to achieving a better understanding of the popularization of English language learning in primary schools in the larger context of a variety of factors. Basing on the analysis of research results, the conclusions reflecting real needs of learners as far as the more effective English language learning is concerned have been drawn. Sharing the research findings with the primary schools which participated in the research will contribute to their practical application.

The paper focuses on the centralization of the Literary Texts in teaching Italian language. During the last thirty years, the Italian Undergraduate School has adopted methods to teach Italian, based on the distinction between Language and Literature, reshaping the role of Literary Texts or decreasing the lecture and analysis of Literary Texts in teaching Italian language. It’s out of doubt that the different modern languages theories have conditioned the methodologies of the language acquisition and the discussion of the theoretical model isn’t our aim. We would like to suggest that a literary text is a basic medium to learn a language, provided that the literary survey considers complete elements: cultural, historical, linguistics, rhetorical. The Romance Philology can give an essential contribution to renovate Literary studies in teaching Italian Language in the Italian Undergraduate school.

Opisane w artykule badanie przeprowadzono w celu pozyskania informacji na temat wyobrażeń o kulturze rosyjskiej zakorzenionych w świadomości polskich uczniów szkoły podstawowej kl. VII–VIII, rozpoczynających formalną naukę języka rosyjskiego w warunkach szkolnych. Jako metodę zastosowano analizę dokumentów. Zebrano materiał badawczy w postaci dokumentów intencjonalnych – 100 plakatów wykonanych przez polskich uczniów szkoły podstawowej kl. VII–VIII.
In order to obtain information on images of Russian culture rooted in the consciousness of Polish primary school students of grades VII-VIII starting formal learning of the Russian language in school conditions, a study was conducted. The method used was the analysis of documents (also called, inter alia, analysis of products, analysis of children’s and teenagers’ own works). For this purpose, research material was collected in the form of intentional documents - 100 posters made by Polish primary school students of grades VII-VIII. Particular attention was paid to the non-verbal image of Russia and Russians recorded in the minds of Polish youth. The results were used to reflect on the level of cultural competence of students beginning to learn Russian as a second modern language. It turns out that the image of Russia according to those who start learning the Russian language is usually stereotypical, and knowledge about Russia’s inhabitants is usually basic. The results also showed that a two-year period of learning a foreign language in school settings requires teachers to introduce more diverse cultural content in order to prepare students for intercultural dialogue.
