Not only has the quantity (i.e. in terms of the extension of the duration of life) become the aim of action on the health plane, but also the qualitative, or extending the duration of lifein good health, which is not accompanied by disability and life activity limitations due to health. To estimate changes in health status of the population, implemented health programs and medical care needed new health measures. Meters beyond the negative indicators on mortality and life expectancy, but also including other dimensions of health status and quality of life related to health. This group of measures is called summary measures of population health and is divided into two main parts: the measure of the health expectancies and measures of health gap. The aim of the article is a presentation and use of selected health summary measures for estimating life expectancy in good health of Polish population against the background of the population of the European Union countries. Data from the Central Statistical Office and the European Statistical System as well as database and publications prepared by the World Health Organization and the United Nations will be a base of empirical analysis.

Opis:
Health of the population is one of the basic factors of social development. The results of empirical studies indicate a number of factors determining the level of health of the population related to access to health care services, the level of environmental pollution and the wealth of society. It must be assumed that the observed disparities in the health depend on distributions of particular determinants. The aim of the article is to assess the significance of the main factors affecting the occurrence of spatial disparities in the level of social development districts NTS-4 in terms of health of the population. The analysis was based on estimates of the Spatial Durbin Model (SDM) which takes into account the impact of neighborhood spatial units on level of dependent variable and the explanatory variables. The size of the level of social development in terms of health of the population in the study was approximate by the aggregate value of the index, which is the local component of the Local Human Development Index LHDI.

Opis:
Background Lean healthcare management is an innovative approach to process management in healthcare organizations. Despite that the Lean principles have been increasingly recognized worldwide as a tool to boost organizational performance, improve the quality of care and curb waste, the Lean methodology can be difficult to implement in some countries. This study seeks to identify the facilitators of and barriers to the implementation of Lean in the healthcare system in Poland. Material and Methods A public consultation was held among 318 representatives of stakeholder groups in the healthcare system in Poland. Data was collected using validated self-administered questionnaires. Statistical analysis was performed using the IBM SPSS Statistics 25 software. Results The study revealed that a large share of respondents believed that the awareness of the existing organizational deficiencies in work practices among stakeholders can greatly facilitate the implementation of Lean in the healthcare system in Poland (50.9%, p < 0.05). The main barriers to the deployment of Lean include lack of awareness of the Lean methodology and its benefits (76.1%, p < 0.001); insufficient institutional support (43.7%), and lack of funding for Lean solutions (32.4%). Conclusions Gaps in the medical curricula and education programs for healthcare professionals concerning the latest process management solutions in healthcare should be addressed in order to raise awareness of the benefits of cooperation with and the active involvement of Lean experts in applying “lean” ideas to improve the organizational performance in healthcare. It is also necessary for policy makers to be aware of the benefits of contemporary process management in healthcare and to support its implementation. Med Pr. 2023;74(1):1–8

Opis:
The analysis of the number of died men and women of different age per 100 000 persons of the corresponding sex from 1985 to 2002 in the city Kyiv was conducted. It is established that in the wide range of ages the phenomenon of the morbidity ratio of persons of different age is of a non-linear character. It is found the availability of the significant effect (19,6%; p<0,001) on the degree of this ratio. Four specific periods, associated with different possible mechanisms of the effect of the psychoemotional strain on the human body, have been specified in the dynamics of the sex ratio. It is established that the psychoemotional factor affects persons of different age groups specifically. In this, its effect on persons of able-to-work age, is the most threatening. A quantitative assessment of the population health of different age groups with due account of mortality ratio of persons of different sex has been proposed. The explanation of changes of sex ratio in populations, based on the theory of evolution in their development, is presented.

Opis:
Population ageing has been observed in the 28 countries of the EU for many years. It is a spatially diverse process. The growing percentage of the elderly people influences the health of societies. The health state of the elderly is, among the factors influencing their quality of life, a crucial element associated with the need for the subjective feeling of satisfaction with a fulfilment of the health potential and an active social life. The purpose of the work is to present the selected aspects of the ageing process in the countries of the EU and the selected aspects of the characterisation of the EU inhabitants aged 65 and above in terms of health.

Authors identified nutritional and clinical risks and investigated their effect on population health in Slovakia within more than the last 40 years. The results were supported by nationally representative, nutrition researches conducted on more than 20 000 people. Simultaneously, the following factors were studied: average lipid blood levels; prevalence of dyslipidaemia, obesity, diabetes mellitus (DM) and colorectal carcinoma in Slovak Republic; and the results of 4 dietetic tests (pectin + ascorbic acid, essential phospholipids, powder from Pleurotus ostreatus, and flavonoid preparation). As a result some improvement measures were suggested for the population in terms of nutrition, some regulation changes were proposed in food and nutritional policy, and finally some proposals were addressed to food processors.
Autorzy określili aktualne zagrożenia żywieniowe i kliniczne, badając ich wpływ na stan zdrowotny populacji ludności Słowacji w ciągu ponad czterdziestu lat. Wyniki uzupełniono rezultatami badań żywieniowych przeprowadzonych w skali kraju na grupie ponad 20 000 osób. Jednocześnie przeanalizowano: średni poziom lipidów we krwi, powszechność występowania takich zjawisk, jak: zaburzenia obecności tłuszczu we krwi, otyłość, cukrzyca i rak jelita grubego.

The authors deals with the health of the EU population. The health of the Slovak population has improved since 2000, but it still lags behind the EU average. Slovaks live longer, but differences in life expectancy by gender and socio-economic groups persist. In the Slovak health care system, care is provided to all residents, although access to it is limited in some regions and quality and efficiency can improve in many areas. Most Slovaks report good health, but there are differences according to income groups. About two thirds of the Slovak population report good health, a ratio similar to the EU average, but higher than in most neighboring countries. However, according to their own health assessment, there are differences in socio-economic status. Objectives: The objective of this article is to present a research protocol to explore mental health care in the Moroccan immigrant collective. Methods: The study will be carried out through a qualitative perspective under a combination of the phenomenological approach and ethnomethodology. The selection of participants will be carried out by non-probabilistic sampling. Several types of profiles will participate in the study, both healthcare professionals and Moroccan patients, and semi-structured interviews will be conducted. Findings: The application of this research protocol will increase the knowledge about mental health care in the Moroccan immigrant group. By having health professionals more knowledge about it, they can create more specific health promotion and prevention programs for the Moroccan group, helping them in their adaptation process and reducing the stress and/or anxiety of the process. Conclusions: It is recommended to carry out this research protocol in different health centers to obtain reliable conclusions about mental health care in the Moroccan immigrant collective

Background. Health education is one of the main cores of primary health care (PHC). However, there is limited evidence on the difficulties of implementing health education programs. This study explored the barriers of implementing health education programs in Iranian rural communities. Objectives. A qualitative study with conventional content analysis approach was conducted. Applying purposeful sampling, 34 rural folks and health care providers were employed to participate in the study. Data were collected through individually, semi-structured interviews. Data analysis continued until data saturation, when no new theme or idea emerged. Material and methods. A qualitative study with conventional content analysis approach was conducted. Applying purposeful sampling, 34 rural folks and health care providers were employed to participate in the study. Data were collected through individually, semi- -structured interviews. Data analysis continued until data saturation, when no new theme or idea emerged. Results. Four themes, including “Ineffective teaching and learning processes”, “Lack of health educators’ motivation”, “Communication gaps”, and “Lack of resources and facilities for teaching and learning” emerged as the barriers of implementing health education programs in rural communities. Conclusions. Several executive and communicational problems were identified as the local-level obstacles of implementing health education programs in rural areas. Better understanding on the extensive range of health education barriers in rural areas may be helpful for rural health workers and stakeholders in designing and/or revisiting health education programs in rural communities.
