W artykule autor podejmuje tematykę sposobu przedstawiania kobiet w relacjach podróżniczych o Islandii, których autorami są mężczyźni (m.in. Daniel Vetter, Edmund Chojecki i Ferdynand Goetel), a także kobiecego pisania o Islandii w piśmiennictwie polskim. Zagadnienie to nie było w ogóle podejmowane w dotychczasowej refleksji naukowej. Dokonano chronologicznego i syntetycznego przeglądu oraz zinwentaryzowania literatury podmiotowej z wykorzystaniem elementów feministycznej krytyki literackiej. Wypowiedzi przestawiające kobiece doświadczenie i poetykę kobiecego pisania o Islandii pojawiają się w praktyce twórczej polskich autorów dopiero w 1977 roku (pierwsza kobieca relacja autorstwa Haliny Ogrodzińskiej), by w ostatnich latach znacznie się rozwinąć (ilościowo i jakościowo) w licznych reportażach książkowych autorstwa m.in. Magdaleny Anny Węcławiak, Agnieszki Rezler, czy projekcie z pogranicza sztuk plastycznych i książki artystycznej autorstwa Soni Rammer. Dokonany przegląd pokazuje, że praktyka kobiecego pisania o Islandii rozwinęła się w ostatnich latach i wymaga szczegółowych analiz i interpretacji badawczych. Otworzy to niewątpliwie nowe perspektywy badawcze penetrujące również inne, intersemiotyczne obszary: fotografię, muzykę (Hania Rani i jej płyta Esja) czy plastykę (Magdalena Armanda Kołakowska i Sonia Rammer).
In this article the author examines the way women are presented in travel accounts about Iceland written by men (e.g. Daniel Vetter, Edmund Chojecki and Ferdynand Goetel) and explores women’s writing about Iceland in Polish literature. This topic has not been studied academically so far. The article presents a chronological and synthetic review of primary sources. Selected feminist literary criticism is used to take stock of the material. Depictions of the female experience and the poetics of female writing about Iceland appeared in the creative practice of Polish authors as late as 1977 (the first women’s account was by Halina Ogrodzińska), only to develop considerably (both quantitatively and qualitatively) in recent years in numerous travel books by Magdalena Anna Węcławiak and Agnieszka Rezler, among others, or a project on the borderline between visual arts and artist’s book by Sonia Rammer. This review shows that the practice of women’s writing about Iceland has developed in recent years and requires detailed analysis and interpretation. This will undoubtedly open new research perspectives entering also into other intersemiotic areas: photography, music (Hania Rani and her album Esja) or visual arts (Magdalena Armanda Kołakowska and Sonia Rammer).

W Niemczech powstaje obecnie bardzo wiele podręczników dotyczących twórczego pisania, a zwłaszcza autobiograficznego. Dużym powodzeniem cieszą się także zbeletryzowane autobiografie rodzinne dotyczące NRD. W niemieckich podręcznikach wyróżnia się dwie najpopularniejsze odmiany pisania autobiograficznego: pisanie terapeutyczne (inspirowane psychoanalizą) i literackie, artystyczne. Ich techniki coraz bardziej przenikają i inspirują się nawzajem, owocując nowymi metodami rozbudzania kreatywności. Twórcze pisanie może służyć celom prywatnym (np. pozostawienie potomnym symbolicznego spadku) lub być skierowane do szerszego odbiorcy - od celu zależy wybór metody. Autorka tekstu przedstawia najciekawsze aspekty podręcznikowych porad dotyczące m.in. motywacji pisania, optymalnych warunków pracy twórczej, technik pisania nielinearnego, aktywacji prywatnych zasobów pamięci, technik narracyjnych, kwestii językowych i stylistycznych. Zwraca także uwagę na istotny aspekt egzystencjalny pisania autobiograficznego - pogłębienie przeżywania życia.
Currently a huge number of manuals on creative writing, especially autobiographical writing, is being published in Germany. Also very popular are literary autobiographies about family histories connected to the former GDR. The German manuals distinguish between the two most popular types of autobiographical writing: writing as therapy (inspired by psychoanalytical thought) and writing for literary purposes. Their techniques overlap more and more, inspire each other and thus bear the fruit of new methods to stimulate one's creativity. Creative writing can be aimed at private purposes (f.e. to leave behind a symbolic legacy for one's descendants) or can be aimed at the public - the chosen method depends on the goal. The author of the text presents the manuals' most interesting advises on the motivation for writing, the best conditions for creative work, techniques of non-linear writing, the stimulation of private memories, narrative techniques and questions of style and language. The author also points to the existential aspect of autobiographical writing - it deepens one's experience of life.

The analysis of the archival documents illustrates that speechwriting in the George H. W. Bush White House was decentralized and responsibility for crafting Bush Senior’s State of the Unions (SOTUs) was diffused among a team of different writers each year. George H. W. Bush would not use his SOTUs as an opportunity to assert his legislative leadership. The preferred structure of Bush Senior’s SOTU was a thematic, not a programmatic speech. The study concludes that a speechwriting process that fails to balance the ceremonial and deliberative aspects of the SOTU undermines the president’s opportunity to assert his legislative leadership.

The paper is an attempt to reveal an anthropological structure of following categories: text and writing; the categories that nowadays require cultural, historical and institutional relativization. I maintain that the paradigm of writing as mental, individualistic creation and freely chosen way of life is a result of late modernity. Moreover, even today it is not the only paradigm and is not universally acceptable. The illustration of this that I develop in this text is an example of today’s exercise books. School - as the main institution of literate initiation, including mass first contact with literature — is an institution in which the practice of writing, regulated by school breaks and specific for capitalist society dual division of time, is a specific one, being a tool of well-defined, perceptual and social discipline. However, this discipline does not exclude creativity, as long as we leave its late-modern definition.

The author discusses the circumstances and the mechanisms of how personal experiences and fascination with literature and film intertwine and, after many years, lead to the publication of a collection of short stories. The collection of short stories is then an inspiration for a script, which is then made into a short movie by the writer-turned-filmmaker. The author also explains how creative writing can give rise to creative adaptation.

The paper presents studies on the relationship between the results obtained using the IBE Educational Prognosis Scale as a tool for educational diagnosis based on observation of children by the teacher and their actual reading and writing achievement. The IBE Educational Prognosis Scale allows for assessment of linguistic proficiency in terms of the child’s current phonological skills and language development history. The reading and writing assessments were conducted using the IBE Reading Assessment Battery and IBE Spelling Assessment Battery. The study covered teacher’s observations on 1249 children in Grade I as well as their reading and spelling scores. An analysis of teachers’ assessment and literacy scores obtained by children indicates important, generally moderate, correlations. The child’s linguistic development assessed by the teacher on the observational basis is related to the child's current linguistic development, including the development of skills in the areas of grammar, vocabulary and phonology. The relationship between the reading skill and early linguistic development (in the first five years of life) and selected aspects of current development as evaluated by parents is significant but much weaker. A regression analysis for reading indicates that teacher’s observations regarding both language development and early childhood progression in reading, such as letter knowledge and reading strategies, are the best indicators of potential difficulty in this area — better than information concerning early language development provided by parents. Similar results were obtained for the spelling skills.

Mass literature and its more modern branch — popular literature, tends to be described as „trivial”, „third-rate” and worse. Nowadays, there is a consensus among scholars that the name „popular” is the most neutral and non-evaluative, so in this sense the literary production can be addressed and one can give it the status of an academic discipline. Common plots, themes, topoi and solutions which a researcher in the field of his interests explores, are not perceived as worse, imitative, predictable or banal… Today, in the age of information and pleasure the culture drifts and it is not dependent on the economics of production but rather on more information and free imagination. The individual becomes free from the tragic conflict of values. Community experience, which it ensures, is a model of experience of being with others and what is perhaps even more valuable, being-in-the-world of unquestioned significance. Community contemplates the passage, does not seek to create „great narratives”, leaving a space for other parts/ fragments. It accounts for rooted local values, it is a place of their articulation. Fandom, in this perspective, becomes a post-modern form of diaspora.

Tematem artykułu jest analiza materiału badawczego pochodzącego z uczniowskich rozprawek. Podejmuje próbę odtworzenia językowej konceptualizacji problemu, który rozważali uczniowie na maturze próbnej z języka polskiego na poziomie podstawowym w 2021 r.: wpływ dokonywanych przez człowieka wyborów na jego życie.
The subject of the article is the analysis of the research material from the students’ essays. The author considers how the instrumetal and formative character of Polish language education is revealed in students’ essays. She analyzes the lexis used in the introductions of the essays, focusing on the key words. The author attempts to recreate the linguistic conceptualization of the problem which was considered by students on the Polish matura in 2021: the impact of choices made by a person on his/her life.

Czytanie i pisanie to od dawna cenione umiejętności, wokół których w ostatnim czasie toczą się ciekawe dyskusje i spory. W tym samym bowiem momencie, gdy niektórzy boleją nad spadkiem czytelnictwa w naszym kraju, inni zwracają uwagę na fakt, iż nigdy wcześniej nie czytaliśmy tyle, co dziś (oczywiście obie strony mają na uwadze różne rodzaje czytanych tekstów). Podobnie wokół pisania toczą się dysputy np. zwolenników pisma odręcznego, kaligraficznego, z tymi, którzy za jedyne sensowne dziś narzędzie pisarskie uznają klawiaturę komputera, ipada czy iphona. Mimo tych i innych kontrowersji, większość z nas docenia znaczenie umiejętności czytania i pisania, a niektórzy nawet dostrzegają jego wyraźny wzrost we współczesnym świecie. Myślę tu np. o tych rodzicach, babciach czy dziadkach, którzy szukają możliwości, metod oraz narzędzi przyspieszających i wspierających naukę czytania i pisania ich dzieci, wnucząt. Myślę o badaczach szukających optymalnych warunków dla uczenia się i nauczania tych ważnych kompetencji. Innym efektem popularności myślenia o umiejętności czytania i pisania są też zapewne decyzje polityków odpowiedzialnych za funkcjonowanie oświaty, którzy w ostatnich latach nauczycielom wychowania przedszkolnego i edukacji wczesnoszkolnej, czyli osobom profesjonalnie odpowiadającym za budowanie fundamentów dziecięcych umiejętności czytania i pisania, zafundowali cały ciąg zmian. Pytanie – czy aby na pewno dobrych zmian? Artykuł ma na celu dokonanie analizy wątpliwości i dylematów, które muszą dziś rozstrzygać osoby nauczające czytania i pisania.
Reading and writing have long been prized skills around which in recent times have featured interesting discussions and disputes. At the same time, while some people deplore the decline in readership in our country, others point out the fact that we have never read as much as we do today (of course both sides have in mind different types of read texts). Similar disputes are to be found around the issue of writing. Proponents of handwriting, calligraphy, clash with those who these the only sensible tool today for writing to be a computer keyboard, iPad or iPhone. Despite these and other controversies, most of us recognize the importance of reading and writing skills, and some even see their marked increase in the modern world. I am thinking, for example, of parents, grandmothers and grandfathers, who are looking for opportunities, methods and tools to accelerate and support the teaching of the reading and writing of their children and grandchildren. I think of researchers seeking optimal conditions for learning and teaching these important competencies. Another effect of the popularity of thinking about reading and writing skills are also likely to be the decisions of politicians associated with the operation of education, who have prepared a whole raft of changes in recent years for teachers of preschool and early childhood education (those professionally responsible for laying the foundations for children’s reading and writing skills). The only question is - are you sure that they are good changes? The article aims to analyze the doubts and dilemmas that a person teaching reading and writing must confront today.

Lo scopo dell’articolo è di segnalare l’importanza dell’ultima produzione in versi del poeta siciliano Nino De Vita considerato una delle voci liriche e narrative più originali nell’ambito della poesia dialettale e della letteratura in lingua italiana. La riflessione verrà articolata attorno al poemetto devitiano A ccanciu ri Maria pubblicato nel 2015 che coincide con la pubblicazione dell’Antologia bilingue del poeta percepita nei termini di un vero e proprio evento editoriale. Un evento che copre oltre trent’anni dell’attività poetica e narrativa segnata da un continuo intrecciarsi dell’esperienza di vita e di scrittura “in latitanza”.
Celem artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi na ostatnie dokonania sycylijskiego poety Nina De Vity, uważanego za jeden z najbardziej oryginalnych głosów poetyckich – zarówno w pisarstwie dialektalnym, jak i w literaturze włoskiej. Refleksja dotyczy jego ostatniego opowiadania, pisanego wierszem A ccanciu ri Maria (W zamian za Marię), które ukazało się w 2015 roku. Publikacja ta zbiega się w czasie z innym ważnym wydarzeniem edytorskim, a mianowicie z ukazaniem się dwujęzycznej antologii obejmującej 30 lat twórczości poetyckiej i narracyjnej De Vity, naznaczonej nieustannym przenikaniem się doświadczeń życia i pisania „w ukryciu”.

The article The usefulness of the art of writing (An elephant versus the Polish issue) refers to the reconstruction and deconstruction of stereotypes encountered in teaching creative writing at Polish universities. In the introductory part, the author briefly recreates the history of the presence of creative writing courses in Poland, while in the main part he analyses the reasons for their current popularity as well as the problems and prejudices that both lecturers and adepts of writing studies struggle with.
