The purpose of the presented study is to determine Turkish primary school teachers’ perceptions of organizational trust. The participants in the study were 469 primary school teachers from seven regions of Turkey. The data were collected via an Organizational Trust Scale. Data analysis was performed with the use of descriptive statistics, t test, one way-ANOVA, Kruskal Wallis H Test and Pearson Products-Momentus Correlation. The results of the study revealed that Turkish primary school teachers’ overall trust perceptions about their schools are high, but that they have a “moderate” level of trust perceptions about their shareholders—students and parents.

The aim of this study was to investigate servant leadership as a predictor of high school principals’ organizational trust. A correlational research method was utilized in this study. The sample population consisted of 103 subjects, of whom 52 were male and 51 female. Page and Wong’s servant leadership questionnaire and Ellonen, Blomqvist and Puumalainen’s Organizational Trust questionnaire were used. Cronbach’s alpha was 0.90 for the servant leadership questionnaire and 0.93 for the organizational trust questionnaire. Pearson’s correlation coefficient and stepwise regression were utilized for data analysis. Results revealed that there is a positive and significant relationship between servant leadership and organizational trust. Stepwise regression analysis revealed that among the components of servant leadership, components create a spirit of leadership (35%) in the first step while the prospective component (6%) in the second step was the most predictive of organizational trust. In fact, these two components together explained 41% of the variance in organizational trust.

Many studies confirmed the positive effect of trust on human relations and performance in organizations. As a social judgment, trust should be related to perceived competence and warmth as two basic dimensions of person perception. Surprisingly, to date no attempts have been made to examine the influence of attributed competence and warmth on social judgments in interpersonal relations at work. To this end, we examine the influence of perceived competence and warmth on trust, liking and respect in upward and downward work relations. A study involving 190 middle-stage managers revealed that the two fundamental dimensions of social cognition (competence and warmth) influence respect, liking and trust. Competence had a stronger effect on respect than warmth; the opposite was true for liking. Trust was conditioned by both competence and warmth to an equal, high extent. At the same time, warmth expressed by supervisors led to higher results in liking, respect and trust in them than warmth expressed by subordinates.

The article presents the results of empirical research on the role of trust in inter-organizational relations (IORs) and its outcomes. We questioned 210 Polish large and medium sized companies in different industries, experienced in IORs of different kind with Polish and foreign partners. We used a set of non-parametric analyses: Spearman correlation, mediation analyses with bootstrapping and structural equations modeling with RML (Robust Maximum Likelihood). Our findings confirm the statistically relevant correlations between the interpersonal trust of individuals and teams, the trust-building competence of organization and the outcomes of the cooperative relationships of companies. Additionally, the trust-building competence of organization serves as a mediator in the relations of interpersonal trust and IORs outcomes. Theoretical background: Contemporary enterprises functioning in conditions of international competition search for factors that help the growth of their value on the market. One of these may become trust as it is based on shaping the skills of interpersonal cooperation within employee groups and organizations with the aim of the realization of common interests. Purpose of the article: The aim of this paper is the identification of relations between organizational trust and activities that have an impact on the growth of value of enterprises on the market. Research methods: In our research, a singular survey method on an unweighted sample was applied with the aid of the following mixed techniques: CATI phone survey and CAWI Internet survey. The sampling frame was a database of 500 of the largest companies in Poland (according to the ranking of the portal of Rzeczpospolita newspaper). On the basis of the method of random selection, a research sample which consisted of 179 enterprises was built. Main findings: As a result of the research conducted, the factors of the growth in value of enterprises on the market were identified. The impact of the attributes of organizational trust on the growth of the value of the analysed enterprises was indicated, in which incidentally the most significant impact occurred in the case of trust between employees, while subsequently trust towards the organization and trust towards the department heads. The attributes of organizational trust significantly influence the enhancement of the resources of an enterprise, while also the implementation of new technologies, the emergence of new investments and the increased client portfolio. However, no significant impact was indicated in terms of the growth of R and D activities, nor an increase in the level of competitiveness of enterprises on the local market, nor an increased intensification of activities on the market. The research findings provide knowledge on the subject of the use of the attributes of organizational trust in terms of creating value on the market, which may help an organizational culture based on trust in enterprises.

W artykule analizowane są wyniki badań terenowych przeprowadzonych wśród pracowników 20 organizacji (N=601). Celem badań było określenie, jaki wpływ ma kultura organizacyjna na zależności pomiędzy „miękkimi” (psychologiczno-społecznymi) zmiennymi charakteryzującymi m.in. klimat organizacyjny. W szczególności rozpatrywany był wpływ kultury organizacyjnej na związki pomiędzy determinantami i następstwami zaufania organizacyjnego. Wykorzystaną metodą statystyczną była analiza moderacji (Hayes, 2018). W badaniach zastosowana została ankieta zawierająca 13 skal, będących miarami wziętych pod uwagę zmiennych. Z przeprowadzonych analiz wynikają dwa główne wnioski. Pierwszy, dla badaczy zajmujących się miękkimi aspektami funkcjonowania organizacji, w szczególności tymi, które są związane z rolą zaufania w organizacji. Drugi wniosek zaadresowany jest do praktyków i związany jest z jakością wiedzy na temat zarządzania pracownikami. Wniosek dla badaczy dotyczy konieczności uwzględniania przy opisie zjawisk organizacyjnych nieoczywistej, wychodzącej poza standardowy opis organizacji (typu branża, wielkość, liczba pracowników itp.) specyfiki danej organizacji, w szczególności tych aspektów kultury organizacyjnej, które łączą się z zaufaniem organizacyjnym. Pominięcie tego rodzaju czynników może prowadzić do nieadekwatności wskazówek dla kadry kierowniczej co do sposobów rozwijania organizacji. Wniosek dla praktyków dotyczy konieczności zwracania uwagi, jak pracownicy spostrzegają kulturę organizacyjną ich firmy. Pominięcie tego faktu może w szczególności niekorzystnie wpłynąć na trafność strategii budowania klimatu zaufania w organizacji, który przekłada się na obniżenie jakości pracy zespołowej i relacji przełożony podwładny.
The paper includes analysis of the results of field studies conducted among employees of 20 organizations (N=601). The analyses were aimed at determining the impact of organizational culture has on the relationships between the “soft” (psychological and social) factors that characterize them. In particular the impact of organizational culture was considered on the relationship between the antecedents and outcomes of organizational trust. The statistical method used was moderation analysis (Hayes, 2018). The studies were based on a questionnaire that included 13 scales as measures for the variables considered. The analyses provides two main conclusions. The first is for researchers dealing with the soft aspects of the organization’s functioning, especially those related to the role of trust in the organization. The second is addressed to practitioners and relates to the quality of knowledge on employee management. The conclusion for the researchers concerns the need to take into account the specificity of a given organization when describing organizational phenomena. This concerns the tacit factors that go beyond the standard characteristics (industry type, size of the organization, number of employees, etc.), in particular those aspects of the organizational culture related to organizational trust. The failure to do so may lead to inadequate advice for executives regarding the methods used to develop the organization’s potential. The conclusion for practitioners is the need to pay attention to how employees perceive the organizational culture of their company. The omission of this fact may adversely affect the strategy of building a climate of trust, which can lead to a decrease in teamwork quality and a reduction in the superior-subordinate relationship.

Purpose: Trust is an important factor in supporting the management of employee teams. It plays a special role in developing interpersonal relations, leadership, and goal setting. The most important person who stimulates trust is the leader, who takes steps to build organizational trust. The aim of the paper was to identify the role of leadership in stimulating trust between managers and subordinates as an important factor in business development. The following research questions were addressed to achieve this aim: What relationships exist between vertical trust and intra-organizational processes in companies? To what extent do leadership attributes affect building vertical trust? To what extent do leadership attributes related to building trust influence enterprise growth? Design/methodology/approach: The research used a one-time survey method with the unweighted sample design, using mixed techniques: CATI telephone interviewing and CAWI web interviewing. The survey operator was a database of the 500 largest companies in Poland (according to the ranking of the Rzeczpospolita website). Based on the random sampling method, a research sample of 179 companies was collected. Findings: The study showed the impact of leadership attributes, i.e. attitudes of acceptance of others and open-mindedness, honesty and adherence to the rules, consistency in making decisions, compassion and empathy, on the process of building employees' trust in managers. Significant relationships between vertical trust and intra-organizational processes have also been identified. The results of the study confirmed the impact of vertical trust on both intra 24 organizational processes and the development of enterprises. Research limitations: Due to their quantitative nature (survey research), the study results lead to limited conclusions. Practical implications: The results provide insights into the use of leadership attributes in building organizational trust, which can support a trust-based organizational culture in modern companies. Social implications: The research results presented in this paper point to the important role of the manager in stimulating organizational trust in large companies. Originality/value: In a cognitive sense, the results contribute to understanding the role of leadership in building vertical trust and its impact on intra-organizational processes.

Objective - Due to the increasing share of Ukrainians in the Polish labor market, an analysis concerning the evaluation of trust levels exhibited by Polish and Ukrainian employees of Polish organizations was conducted. The assessment serves to merely outline the issue. Further studies on a more representative sample ought to be continued.Approach - The paper is based upon the review of literature regarding the scope of social capital and results of a pilot study conducted with the use of a questionnaire. The pilot encompassed 84 respondents. The questionnaire was developed on the basis of tools applied by other authors. The study encompassed Polish and Ukrainian employees due to the increasing share of the latter in the Polish labor market.Results - Results indicate that the employees, regardless of their nationality, manifest a rather high trust level. Respondents of both nationalities believe that their colleagues are friendly and eagerly share knowledge. The results indicate that they are aware of their duties and need not be controlled and overseen. However, they openly admit that their organizations do not shy from gossip and criticism, which begs for more scrutiny.Limitations/ research implications - The limitation of the present paper can be seen in the non-representative character of the sample. Moreover, it would be beneficial to expand the questionnaire in order to gain more insight into the issue.Originality/ value - Despite the limitations, the results are interesting due to the increasing number of Ukrainian employees in Polish organizations.
