Nowoczesna szkoła, jeśli chce być atrakcyjna dla swoich uczniów, nie może być obojętna wobec mediów cyfrowych o charakterze mobilnym, które są na co dzień wykorzystywane przez adolescentów. Technologie mobilne to urządzenia, które mogą być używane przy ciągłej zmianie lokalizacji w terenie, wykorzystując transmisję danych na odległość za pomocą bezprzewodowego medium (częstotliwości fal radiowych). Edukacja mobilna to szeroka gama możliwości, jakie stwarza połączenie technologii mobilnych i bezprzewodowych sieci, które można wykorzystać również w szkole. Dzięki mobilnym urządzeniom można łatwo zmotywować uczniów do sensownej własnej aktywności. Dlatego nauczyciel powinien mieć świadomość, że na każdą technologię w szkole trzeba mieć pomysł, a także umiejętności pozwalające na zastosowanie tych technologii w pracy dydaktycznej. Głównym celem przeprowadzonych przeze mnie badań było pozyskanie odpowiedzi i ich analiza na temat edukacji mobilnej wykorzystywanej w szkole. Skonstruowane autorskie narzędzie badawcze miało zweryfikować opinie nauczycieli w zakresie ich przygotowania do zastosowania edukacji mobilnej (m-learning, mobile learning) w ich szkołach. Wyniki i konkluzje przedstawiam w artykule.
Modern school, if it wants to be attractive to its pupils, cannot be indifferent to digital mobile media which are used on a daily basis by adolescents. Mobile technologies are devices that can be used independently of constant change of location using distant data communication by means of a wireless medium (radio waves frequency). Mobile education therefore is a wide range of possibilities provided by combination of mobile technologies and wireless networks that can also be used at school. Thanks to mobile devices it is easy to motivate pupils to sensible activity. Therefore a teacher should be aware that for each technology he should have an idea and also skill that may allow him to use particular technology in his didactic work. The main purpose of my research was to obtain and discuss answers on mobile education used at school. My own research tool was to verify teachers‟ opinions about their own level of preparation to applying mobile education (m-learning, mobile learning) in their schools. Results and conclusions are presented in the article.

Rzeczywistość generowana przez media zachęca także osoby starsze do swobodnego korzystania z technologii mobilnych. Seniorzy są świadomi, iż wiedza ludzka i nauka ewoluują w zawrotnym tempie. Technologie te są dziś kluczowym czynnikiem warunkującym tempo zmian i poziom rozwoju społecznego współczesnego człowieka. Umberto Eco wręcz konstatuje, iż nowe techniki informacyjne oznaczają nowy sposób myślenia, studiowania, przekazywania ideologii. Dlatego też nie mogą być one obce również ludziom starszym. Komputery, internet, telefony komórkowe czy karty kredytowe zmieniły polską rzeczywistość. Aby seniorzy mogli w niej bezpiecznie funkcjonować, powinni mieć szeroki dostęp do edukacji mobilnej.
Reality generated by media also encourages the elderly to use mobile technology freely. They are aware that human knowledge and science are evolving at staggering speed. These technologies are nowadays a key to the pace of changes and the level of contemporary man development. Umberto Eco states that new information techniques denote new ways of thinking, studying and conveying ideology. Therefore, the elderly cannot be unfamiliar with them. Computers, the Internet and credit cards have changed the Polish reality. In order that the elderly may function safely within it, they need to have wide access to mobile education.

The content of the study is to assess the use of the latest mobile devices associated with IT for the modern student. School system is in constant state of flux. The majority of teachers focus on the traditional presentation and enforcement of knowledge and skills, while the majority of students benefit greatly from the knowledge available virtually. It leads to the considerable gap and makes mutual communication and understanding more difficult.The same problems also occur in an academic environment. Research conducted among the students of the University of Technology and Humanities in Radom show the functioning of future teachers in the digital world.
Opracowanie dotyczy oceny stosowania najnowszych urządzeń mobilnych związanych z IT przez współczesnego studenta. System szkolny ulega ciągłym zmianom. Nauczyciele w zdecydowanej większości nastawieni są na klasyczne, tradycyjne prezentowanie i egzekwowanie wiedzy oraz umiejętności. Uczniowie zaś w dużej mierze korzystają z wiedzy dostępnej wirtualnie. Powoduje to rozdźwięk i utrudnia komunikację. Te same problemy występują również w środowisku akademickim. Badania przeprowadzone wśród studentów Uniwersytetu Technologiczno-Humanistycznego w Radomiu pokazują funkcjonowanie przyszłych nauczycieli w świecie cyfrowym.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest zaprezentowanie nowych trendów nauczania z wykorzystaniem e learningu mobilnego oraz badań ukazujących potencjał technologii mobilnych w kształceniu akademickim. Przedstawiono przegląd teorii pedagogicznych, od behawioryzmu do konektywizmu, oraz znaczenie technologii informatycznych w rozwoju kształcenia konektywistycznego. Przedstawiono przegląd badań dotyczących e learningu mobilnego, w tym model analizy racjonalnej edukacji mobilnej” (The Framework for the Rational Analysis of Mobile Education – FRAME), który zawiera aspekt urządzenia, aspekt ucznia, aspekt społeczny, technologia społeczna, element obejmujący interakcje w nauczaniu oraz użyteczność urządzenia. Każdy z sześciu wymienionych elementów został scharakteryzowany i wskazano najistotniejsze czynniki. W drugiej części artykułu przedstawiono wyniki badań ankietowych dotyczących m learningu przeprowadzonych wśród studentów i nauczycieli akademickich wybranych polskich uczelni. Zestawienie wyników tych dwóch grup respondentów pozwoliło określić preferencje w zakresie wykorzystania mobilnych usług nauczania zdalnego oraz gotowość technologiczną, poziom niezbędnej wiedzy i kwalifikacji.
The aim of this article is the presentation of the new educational ternds enhanced by mobile e-learning as well as research related to the potential of mobile technology in academic education. The first part contains a review of pedagogical theories,from behaviorism to connectivism, as well as information about the importance of information technology in the development of an education connectivity solution. A short review of research on mobile e-learning is presented. The Framework for the Rational Analysis of Mobile Education (FRAME) is desribed in the following section. FRAME consist of six elements: Device Aspect, Learner Aspect, Social Aspect, Social Technology, Learning Interactions and Device Usability. Each of the six listed items of the FRAME model was characterized and the most important factors identified and described. The next part of the article presents selected results of a survey concerning m-Learning which was conducted among students and teachers from selected Polish universities. A analysis of the results of these two groups of respondents allowed for the description of preference for the use of mobile distance learning services and technological readiness, the level of necessary knowledge and skills.

Population aging has become an increasingly severe problem in recent years. Based on the diversity of the mobile functions, and the advanced mobile technology, the elders might use the modern mobile to get the conveniences of the elder’s living. In our study, 34 senior citizens in the UK, and 56 persons in Taiwan, students of the Evergreen Elder University, answered the questions. The compared results showed that the factor of personal or family dependence and technology dependence are dominant in the UK, but the factors of personal or family dependence and social dependence are dominant in Taiwan. Elders’ education will be a hot topic of education because of the increasing population of elders. The key variables, i.e. demographic, social, psychological, and technological ones, are satisfied to be the growth of elders’ education in many developed and developing countries. Based on the duties and resources of the religions and universities, a diversity of elders’ education can be expected.

In this article I present some of the most popular mobile museum applications – their content, accessibility, and finally the possibility to use them in the educational process. In the public opinion these applications are not yet seen as a form of education or useful fun, but rather as a feature of mobile devices. Therefore, in their analysis, I focused on their potential for cultural education. Many museum and educational applications can be attributed to fulfill several important functions of education – developmental, educational, cognitive, expressive, culture-creating and finally recreational and ludic. Mobility is therefore an important goal of education nowadays, and the modern facilities can help to develop competencies that are important from the perspective of cultural education, such as understanding the needs of training and cultural development in the process of lifelong learning, valuing traditions and cultural heritage.

The article The forgotten page. On the introduction of film education to Polish schools raises a subject of film education in Polish schools. At the beginning of the article the author focuses on the groundbreaking school curriculum introduced to Polish schools in 2009. The teachers of Polish have had to include the elements of film education within their course since then. At the same time Polish Film Institute provided fourteen thousand schools with the packages of film materials. It was supposed to support film education in schools. The initiative was warmly approved by the press and various media. Nonetheless, it was not the first initiative of this kind in Poland as similar programme was introduced to schools in the 1930s by Film Institute of Polish Telegraphic Agency. The article is devoted to the description of this forgotten period of Polish education, which was terminated by the outbreak of World War II.

Technology has made its presence felt in various sectors of India’s development in the last twenty years. Communication and information technology, manufacturing industry, transportation, defence and space technologies are some of the important sectors which have incorporated modern technology in various aspects of their development and functioning. Also significant and visible changes have taken place in the consumer products available in the Indian market, most of them imported or locally manufactured by multinational corporations based in India. Do these changes qualify India to be considered as a technologically advanced country, and thereby making technological changes an integral part of the social change process of our society? Or are these developments restricted to certain elitist sections of society with little or negligible trickle-down effect of the knowledge bases of the technology developments? In this study a deconstructivist approach is adopted to analyse some of the processes involved in development and diffusion of technology in a society. With the exception of mobile phone technology it is argued that even though India has strong scientific and technological capabilities, it is emerging as a bigger consumer of technology products than as a producer and innovator of modern technology.

The article presents the results of international research on the use of mobile technologies as a support in the process of educating students with special educational needs. A team of researchers from five European countries conducted a survey among teachers using tablets while working with students with disabilities. Answers from the respondents reveal the image of educators who seek on their own, without any systemic support, opportunities to strengthen the educational opportunities of their pupils. The research results indicate that systemic organizational, methodical and financial solutions should be developed to facilitate the introduction of mobile devices for special and inclusive education.

W artykule zawarto opis badań na temat zastosowania rozszerzonej rzeczywistości w przyswajaniu wiedzy przez uczniów. Badania przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem stworzonej edukacyjnej aplikacji mobilnej. Aplikacja ma formę quizu, w którym odpowiedziami są obiekty 3D. Celem analizy było potwierdzenie tezy, że rozszerzona rzeczywistość w aplikacjach mobilnych sprzyja absorpcji nowo poznanych treści. Ankieta wstępna oraz analiza osiągniętych wyników przez użytkowników potwierdziły stawianą tezę.
The paper presents research on the applying augmented reality technology in the process of knowledge assimilation by pupils. The study was conducted with the use of dedicated educational mobile application. The application takes the form of a quiz, where 3D objects represent answers. The aim of the analysis is to confirm the thesis that the augmented reality applied in mobile applications helps in learning new contents. Preliminary survey and the analysis of achieved users results confirmed the thesis.

The article presents selected aspects of the process of cognitive functioning of the users of contemporary technologies and the Internet, with special consideration of the negative effects of being immersed in the digital culture. The introduction synthetically characterizes the digital world, focusing on the most active users of the virtual space. In the body of the text, the author analyzes the negative effects of an individual’s functioning in the Internet space, especially those related to the change in the way of information acquisition and processing. The conclusions refer to implementing educational postulates connected with helping students develop the culture of behavior in the virtual space, involving as major elements the ability to distance oneself from digital media, to engage in deep reflection, and to organize and sort the acquired information. These skills are treated as crucial, ensuring the rational use of digital technologies. Focusing educational activities on the formation of youths’ media competence offers them an opportunity of fuller intellectual development, the sense of security in the context of expansion of the media, and active participation in the information society by structuring the available information and the knowledge constructed on its basis.

W artykule zwrócono uwagę na tempo przemian cywilizacyjnych i intensywny rozwój technologii mobilnej, które nie mogą pozostać bez wpływu na współczesną edukację. Konieczne jest dokonanie znaczących zmian w polskiej szkole. Współczesna dydaktyka powinna być dostosowana do wymagań otoczenia i cyfrowej rzeczywistości XXI w., odwoływać się do wielorakiej inteligencji uczniów oraz wykorzystywać możliwości nowych, mobilnych narzędzi informatycznych, uwzględniając przy tym cechy i preferencje typowe dla pokolenia „cyfrowych tubylców”.
The article draws attention to the pace of civilization and the rapid development of mobile technology, which can’t remain unaffected by modern education. It is necessary to make significant changes in the Polish school. Contemporary teaching should be adapted to the requirements of the environment and the digital world XXI century, to refer to the multiple intelligence of students and use of new and mobile tools, taking into account the characteristics and preferences specific to the generation of „digital natives”.

In alignment with smart city initiatives, Malaysia is shifting its educational landscape to a smart learning environment. The Ministry of Education (MoE) has made History a mandatory subject for passing the Malaysian Certificate of Education to grow awareness and instil patriotism among Malaysian students. However, History has been known as one of the difficult subjects to study for many students. On the other hand, the Malaysian Government Education Blueprint 2013-2025 seeks to “leverage ICT scale up quality learning” across the country. Therefore, this study aims to identify the factors that influence the intention to use Augmented Reality (AR) for mobile learning in learning History subject among secondary school students in Malaysia. Quantitative approach has been chosen as the research method for this study. A direct survey was conducted on 400 secondary school students in one of the smart cities in Malaysia as the target respondents. The collected data are analysed through descriptive statistics and Multiple Linear Regression analysis by using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. Based on the results, the identified factors that influence the intention to use AR for mobile learning in learning History subject are Gender, Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Enjoyment, and Attitude Towards Use. The identified factors can be a good reference for schools and teachers to strategize their teaching and learning methods in pertaining to History subject among secondary school students in Malaysia. Future studies may include the study of various types of schools in Malaysia and explore more moderating effects of demographic factors.

Nowadays mobile services are gaining more and more popularity. Users of new technologies expect to get information as quickly as possible. There is a need of providing them in an user-friendly way basing on mobile devices. This article describes the characteristic of authors' IT system named "Mobile Class Register", that allows users to get instant access to information about student's educational process.

The mobile phone has become an inseparable ‘life partner’ and a reason of appearance of new forms of people’s behaviour, as well as new means of communication, which influence social life. Undoubtedly, benefits related to possessing and using a mobile phone are significant, however, it is crucial to remember about threats which result from inappropriate usage of mobile phones, especially by children and the youth. The article focuses on excessive usage of mobile phones and their influence on a young man. The matter of the analysis are interpretations of the definition of addiction and the mobile phone is indicated as a source of mental addiction. Kinds of mobile phone addiction are characterised, as well as typical behaviour features of an addicted person. The article is an attempt of presenting results of an inappropriate usage of mobile phones, phonoholism, by children and the youth, as well as adult people. In its final part the article presents cogitations of a schoolgirl upon the phenomenon of phonoholism and its influence on a young man.
Telefon komórkowy stał się nieodłącznym „towarzyszem życia” oraz przyczyną pojawienia się nowych form zachowań ludzi oraz nowych sposobów komunikowania się mających wpływ na życie społeczne. Nie ulega wątpliwości, że korzyści płynące z posiadania i używania telefonu komórkowego są bardzo duże, ale należy również pamiętać o zagrożeniach, które wynikają z faktu niewłaściwego posługiwania się tym urządzeniem, zwłaszcza przez dzieci i młodzież. W publikacji skoncentrowano się na nadmiernym korzystaniu z telefonów komórkowych oraz ich wpływie na młodego człowieka. Poddano analizie interpretacje definicji uzależnienia oraz wskazano na telefon komórkowy jako źródło uzależnienia psychicznego. Ukazano rodzaje uzależnień od telefonu oraz typowe cechy zachowania osoby uzależnionej. Artykuł stanowi próbę zasygnalizowania skutków niewłaściwego korzystania z telefonów komórkowych (fonoholizmu) przez dzieci i młodzież oraz osoby dorosłe. W końcowej części artykułu przedstawiono refleksję uczennicy na temat fonoholizmu i jego wpływu na młodego człowieka.

This article attempts to determine the educational nature of “Pokémon Go!” game based on user interactions with virtual space and real-life elements. For this purpose, interviews with players in mini focus groups (mini FGI) were the chosen method. Respondents were asked about their interaction with actual objects that are reflected in the game, how they search for information about the locations themselves, and about the educational content in the game space. The players were also asked for their ideas on how to enhance the educational potential of the game, as such opinion of real-life players was deemed notable. Based on the results obtained, firstly, areas of potential educational value that still need to be improved were identified and, secondly, recommendations were formulated how to enhance the educational opportunities arising from the game.
W niniejszym tekście skupiono się na próbie określenia edukacyjnego charakteru aplikacji „Pokemon Go!” na podstawie interakcji użytkowników z elementami przestrzeni wirtualnej i rzeczywistej. W tym celu zdecydowano się na przeprowadzenie wywiadów z graczami w minigrupach fokusowych (mini FGI). Zapytano ich o interakcję z rzeczywistymi obiektami odzwierciedlonymi w grze, samodzielne poszukiwanie informacji o odwiedzanych lokalizacjach oraz tworzenie treści edukacyjnych w przestrzeni gry. Graczy zapytano także o ich pomysły na zwiększenie możliwości edukacyjnych „Pokemon Go!”, ponieważ uznano, że warto wykazać opinię użytkowników praktycznie wykorzystujących grę. Na podstawie pozyskanych wyników – po pierwsze – wskazano obszary mogące posiadać potencjał edukacyjny, ale wymagające poprawy, a po drugie – sformułowano propozycje mające na celu zwiększenie możliwości edukacyjnych gry.

This comparative small-scale (Libyan and Polish sample) qualitative study investigates two educational models of iPads’ implementation and integration with the overall pedagogical objectives in early education in Libya and Poland. The basic methodological frame was video-ethnography supplemented by semi-structured interviews with parents, teachers and children. The questions asked were designed to recognize how technology might fit within the school’s overall vision. The results indicate that each technology initiative can be potentially transformative for schools, teachers and students. The iPad as an open educational tool encourages a student-centered model of learning, whereas teachers predominantly use frontal teaching methods. Furthermore, the teachers in the two countries have considerably different perceptions and expectations regarding the role and outcome of mobile technology.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badania zrealizowanego w 2015 roku przez Fundację Dzieci Niczyje na temat korzystania przez małe dzieci z urządzeń mobilnych w Polsce. W badaniu wykazano, że 64% dzieci w wieku 6 miesięcy – 6,5 roku korzystało z urządzeń mobilnych, a im starsze były dzieci, tym większy był odsetek korzystających. Są to wyniki zbliżone do uzyskanych w badaniach zagranicznych. Najczęściej dzieci wykorzystywały nowe media do oglądania filmów, a bardzo często grały czy po prostu bawiły się bez specjalnego celu. Stosunkowo duża była grupa codziennych użytkowników, także wśród najmłodszych dzieci. Jako przyczynę udostępniania dzieciom urządzeń mobilnych, rodzice najczęściej wskazywali konieczność zajęcia się własnymi sprawami lub chęć nagrodzenia dziecka. Zarówno wyniki niniejszego badania, jak i rezultaty z innych krajów wskazują na konieczność zmobilizowania rodziców do monitorowania użytkowania przez dzieci urządzeń mobilnych. Rodzice powinni nie tylko kontrolować czas i treści przekazu medialnego, ale również uczyć dzieci, jak krytycznie i bezpiecznie korzystać z nowoczesnych technologii. Zwiększy to szansę na uniknięcie w przyszłości negatywnych konsekwencji nadmiernego lub niewłaściwego korzystania z urządzeń mobilnych.
The article presents the results of study on young children’s media use in Poland. The research was conducted by The Nobody’s Children Foundation in 2015. 64% children age 6,5 and under used mobile media. Older children were more likely to use them. This outcomes were similar to findings from international studies. New technologies were used for watching videos the most often. Quite frequently children also used mobile devices for playing games or just playing with them without any special reason. Relatively big was the group of daily users, even among the youngest. Most parents let children play with mobile media while running errands or when they wanted to reward children. Both outcomes of this research and findings of studies from other countries lead to conclusion that parental monitoring of children’s use of mobile devices is crucial. Not only should parents monitor time and content of media, but they should also learn children how to be critical on media and how to use them safely. This could minimise the risk of too extensive or inappropriate use of media in future.

Dynamiczny rozwój technologii i związany z nim szeroki wachlarz pojawiających się rozwiązań informatycznych powoduje szybki rozwój systemów geoinformacyjnych. Postęp technologiczny spowodował dostępność zarówno zaawansowanych urządzeń pomiarowych, jak i mobilnych zestawów komputerowych, wyposażonych w nowoczesne systemy łączności bezprzewodowej oraz zapewniających wielogodzinną pracę w terenie. Technologie te stanowią kluczowy element w rozwoju zintegrowanych systemów pozyskiwania i zarządzania danymi, rozszerzając możliwości tradycyjnych systemów GIS. Interdyscyplinarny charaktery rozwiązań mobilnych stanowi wyzwanie dla dydaktyków. Kształcenie specjalistów potrafiących budować i wykorzystywać systemy oparte na urządzeniach przenośnych wymaga kompromisu w zakresie prezentacji poszczególnych zagadnień. Artykuł przedstawia doświadczenia autora dotyczące kształcenia geoinformatyków w zakresie mobilnego GIS.
The progress in Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) sector has brought rapid development of GIS technology on portable devices. Mobile innovations have offered sophisticated receivers, modern mobile devices, wireless communications sensors and powerful batteries. These technologies are a key element in the development of field data collecting and management systems, expanding the possibilities of traditional GIS software. Interdisciplinary character of mobile solutions is still challenge for educators. Education and training of professionals capable to develop and use mobile technology requires a compromise and consistent approach to teaching. The paper presents the author’s experience on surveyors’ education in the field of mobile GIS.

This article discusses the professional careers of foreign scholars in Krakow, one of the leading academic centres in Poland and a regional ‘silicon valley’ (toutes proportions gardées). Central and Eastern Europe is understudied as an immigration region for highly skilled migrants (HSMs). To bridge this gap, we concentrate on three interrelated topics: (a) the perception of Polish science and its infrastructure; (b) careers of international staff employed in Polish academia; and (c) their perception of their achievements in Poland. Foreign scholars come to Poland for various reasons. Two of the most important are the cultural proximity between Poland and their country of origin, and research interests focused directly in Poland. Our findings show that Poland attracts first and foremost scholars with average scientific achievements. We discuss major problems they encounter (e.g., shortage of funds, uncomfortable office space, restricted access to books and papers) and their expectations of life in a semi-periphery country. The paper is mainly based on in-depth interviews with 23 foreign scholars working full time at four universities in Krakow and, as a secondary source, on the analysis of websites of these universities.
