Artykuł opisuje metodologię statycznego i dynamicznego badania zaworów hamulcowych. Stanowisko badawcze zaprojektowano i zbudowano na Politechnice Gdańskiej jako część projektu badawczo-rozwojowego pt.: „Zaprojektowanie i zbadanie innowacyjnych podsystemów ładowarek kołowych firmy Hydro-Metal”, dofinansowanego przez PARP w ramach programu „Bon na innowacje”. Ponadto przedstawiono szczegóły konstrukcyjne i funkcje najczęściej spotykanych zaworów hamulcowych oraz zaprezentowano przykładowe wyniki badań i wykryte wady badanych zaworów.
The article describes methodology of static and dynamic tests on counterbalance valves. The test stand was designed and built at Gdansk University of Technology as a part of a R&D project for Hydro-Metal Company: “Design and research of Hydro-Metal telehandlers subsystems”, cofounded by PARP as a part of program Bon na innowacje. Article also presents the design and functions of most common counterbalance valves. The article includes the exemplary test results and detected faults.

Introduction/background: The intent of the paper was to verify the hypothesis: H0 – Pilot study is an integral part of any research process and directs the research process. H1 – Pilot study is not an integral part of any research process and does not direct the research process. Aim of the paper: The aim of the paper is to verify whether a pilot study is an integral part of any research process and whether it directs research processes. Materials and methods: In order to verify the hypothesis, a quantitative survey (questionnaire) was conducted, which was addressed to a group of management science theoreticians (401 representatives). Results and conclusions: The results obtained revealed that: 86% of the surveyed scientists, specialising in management science, believe that pilot studies direct the research process, 88% of all scientists specialising in management science believe that pilot studies have an impact on the course of the research process, 70% of all management scientists believe that pilot studies are an integral part of any research process. Thus, hypothesis H1 was rejected. Of key importance, from the point of view of the development of this science, are the needs to develop principles for the application of the methods that make up the pragmatic methodology, and to disseminate methodological paradigms identified in particular in the approach of the contemporary methodology of management sciences.

The article attempts to assess the impact of the factor related to the knowledge of the real estate market on the declared preferences in the CVM. A set of factors widely described in the literature, potentially affecting the outcomes of the frame experiment (such as gender, education, social status) has been enriched with the factor related to market knowledge. The research was conducted on a group of 1,200 people by the CATI method in 2015. Due to the level of knowledge of the market, respondents were divided into four groups. Measures determining the degree of dependence of features (market knowledge and WTP declarations) were used: independence tests, medium difference tests (ANOVA). It was found that knowledge of the market determines the willingness to pay (WTP). Knowledge of the market is an important factor affecting the discrepancies between the respondents' declarations to pay for the good valued. Therefore, meteorological indications for conducting CVM studies should be enriched by considering this circumstance.

W artykule o charakterze przeglądowym zaprezentowano potencjał mikrotomografii komputerowej, która może zostać zastosowana do badań i analiz strukturalnych materiałów drogowych takich jak mieszanki mineralno-asfaltowe. Praca zawiera opis metodologii badania z użyciem mikrotomografu komputerowego przeznaczonego do dokładnych badań materiałowych. Zaprezentowano ocenę strukturalną materiału, analizę porowatości oraz wykorzystanie obrazowania tomograficznego do oceny mechanistyczno-wytrzymałościowego materiału. Na przykładzie nowatorskiej analizy agresji chemicznej wywołanej agresją chlorkową przedstawiono dodatkowe możliwości techniczne urządzenia. Artykuł kończy podsumowanie opisanych zastosowań tej metody badawczej w stosunku do mieszanek mineralno-asfaltowych. Wskazano na zalety i możliwości wprowadzenia mikrotomografii do powszechnego użycia w drogowej inżynierii lądowej.
The article shows the potential of computer microtomography that can be used for research and structural analysis of road materials such as asphalt mixtures. The work contains a description of the research methodology using a computer microtomograph on the example of asphalt concrete. The paper discusses the structural assessment of the material, porosity analysis, the use of tomographic imaging to assess the mechanics and strength of the material, and presents a novelty in the form of an analysis of chemical aggression caused by chloride aggression. The article ends with a summary of the applications of this research methodology in relation to asphalt mixtures and indicates the advantages and possibilities of introducing microtomography for widespread use in road engineering.

The paper presents an attempt to identify methodological problems in the research into the processes of globalization. Originally globalization was treated as a homogeneous process, leaving its impress on the ground of economic and social sciences. Later, however, scientists realized that globalization triggers a lot of processes, part of which are known, but many of which we are not aware of. In this context, it is more proper to write and talk not about globalization but about the processes of globalization. The author understands the processes of globalization as a whole of the processes which occur on the social- economic and political plane. The processes lighten mutual connections between countries, regions or single people, and their consequences. According to the author, the main problems in the research into processes of globalization are: problems with defining the subject of research, lack of proper methodology and methods of research, interdisciplinary problems and problems with objectivity of facts. The selection of proper research methods to conduct the research into the processes of globalization poses a lot of difficulties. They result from the fact that geography has worked out a lot of detailed research methods, used to describe quantitative phenomena, which are the essence of globalization, using qualitative methods. At this stage of research, the essence of globalization can be captured by using systematic approach in an idiographic sense.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie teorii praktyk oraz teorii praktyk rodzinnych i bazującej na niej koncepcji displaying families jako alternatywy dla prowadzenia badań w obszarze socjologii rodziny. Choć teorie praktyk oraz związana z nimi perspektywa doing families stanowią inspirację dla polskich badaczy rzeczywistości społecznej, to założenia teoretyczne tych koncepcji – zwłaszcza ich najbardziej aktualne wersje – rzadko są analizowane w sposób systematyczny. Dodatkowo, koncepcja displaying families jest mało znana jako metoda badawcza. Tymczasem, wydaje się że podejście inspirowane teoriami praktyk może być szczególnie cenne dla prowadzenia badań nad współczesnym życiem rodzinnym z co najmniej czterech powodów, które zostały opisane w ostatniej, trzeciej części artykułu. W pierwszej części tekstu przedstawiono analizę głównych założeń teorii praktyk, a w części drugiej – głównych założeń teorii praktyk rodzinnych oraz koncepcji displaying families.
The main aim of the article is to present practice theories, the family practices theory and the concept of displaying families in particular, as an alternative framework for conducting family research. Although theories of practice and the associated perspective of doing families are an inspiration for Polish social researchers, the theoretical assumptions of these concepts – especially their most up-to-date versions – are rarely analyzed in a systematic way. In addition, the displaying families concept is hardly known as a research method. Meanwhile, it seems that the practice approach may be particularly valuable for researching contemporary family life for at least four reasons, which are presented in the third part of the article. The first part of the article presents the main assumptions of practice theories, while in the second part the main assumptions of the theory of family practices and displaying families are outlined.

Dbałość o jakość badań pedagogicznych podyktowana jest wieloma czynnikami. Celem opracowania jest ogólna charakterystyka refleksyjność jako kategorii kluczowej w procesie badawczym i szczególnie ważnej w czasach współczesnych określanych jako niepewne i zrelatywizowane. Punktem wyjścia jest ogólny opis kategorii refleksyjności. Następnie nawiązano do tego, jak w naukach społecznych i humanistycznych wyglądało przejście od pozytywistycznego paradygmatu badawczego do wielu rywalizujących ze sobą lub uzupełniających się orientacji metodologicznych. Zasadniczą część artykułu stanowi opis atrybutów i założeń badań refleksyjnych. Do najistotniejszych należą: poznanie, które nigdy nie będzie całkowicie pewne i obiektywne; odstąpienie od założenia, że badacz może pozostać bezstronny; wiedza społecznie i osobiście zaangażowana; zmienność jako dominująca cecha we współczesnych opisach świata; znaczenie teorii badań w procesie poznania; badane zjawiska nie są odizolowane; proces badawczy nie musi prowadzić to wytworzenia nowej teorii.
