In 2017, a bronze socketed axe with a loop and prominent barbs on the blade was discovered at the Kurcewo 10 (AZP 34-10/48), site in north-western Poalnd (Fig. 1). Due to the shape of the profile, thickening near the edge and the decorative motif, the tool was classified as hexagonal axe of variant B (Fig. 2). The artefact was dated to the Bronze Age Period V. It was established that the specimen from Kurcewo combines three different stylistic designs: a Nordic hexagonal profile and loop, a western pendulum motif and Pomeranian barbs on the blade (Fig. 4). The results of chemical composition analyses revealed that the artefact was made of two-component (Cn-Sn) bronze, with elevated lead (Pb) content, considered a deliberate component of the alloy. A relatively small amount of other elements was found in the alloy composition, with zinc having the biggest share (Fig. 5). The results of the analyses conducted make it doubtful that the axe could have been used as a tool and seem to indicate its representative function.

The mollusk samples were obtained from several locations along the Black Sea coast (gulf of Varna and Gulf of Burgas, Bulgaria). The samples were dissected into five different soft tissues. The soft tissues and the shell were then analyzed for heavy metals. It was found that the highest concentrations of Cu (112-178 [mi]g/g dm) and Zn (117-161 [mi]g/g dm) were found in the tentacle; the highest concentrations of Cd (4.41-5.37 [mi]g/g dm), Pb (53.2-63.8 [mi]g/g dm) and Ni (26.1-27.9 [mi]g/g dm) were found in the shell. On the other band, the highest Fe concentrations (910-2921 [mi]g/g dm) were found in the operculum. The cluster analysis revealed that the accumulation of heavy metals were clustered into a few groups, where the metals found in the shell were significantly different from the other soft tissues. Results from the cluster analysis were further complimented by the correlation analysis and multiple stepwise linear regression which revealed that the accumulation by the different parts were interrelated with one another. It was also found that the soft tissue was the most influential part in accumulation of heavy metal studied. Thus, it indicates the ability oft he mollusks to accumulate heavy metal, hence fulfilling the criteria as a good biomonitor.
Próbki mięczaków były pobierane w kilku miejscach wzdłuż wybrzeża Morza Czarnego (Zatoka Warna i Zatoka Burgas, Bułgaria). Z próbek wyodrębniono pięć różnych tkanek miękkich. W tkankach miękkich i skorupach omaczano metale ciężkie. Stwierdzono, największe stężenia Cu (112-178 [mi]g/g s.m.) i Zn (117-161 [mi]g/g s.m.) w mackach; a największe stężenie Cd (4.41-5.37 [mi]g/g s.m.), Pb (53.2-63.8 [mi]g/g s.m.) i Ni (26.1-27.9 [mi]g/g s.m.) stwierdzono w skorupie. Z drugiej strony, największe stężenia Fe (910-2921 [mi]g/g s.m.) stwierdzono w pokrywie skrzelowej. Analiza klastrów ujawniła, że akumulowane metale ciężkie były pogrupowane w kilka skupień, w których metale oznaczone w skorupkach były inne od tych zidentyfikowanych w tkankach miękkich. Wyniki analizy klastrów były weryfikowane przez analizę korelacji i regresji liniowej wielostopniowej, które wykazały, że akumulacja w różnych częściach była wzajemnie ze sobą powiązana. Stwierdzono również, że w tkankach miękkich kumuluje się najwięcej metali ciężkich. W związku z tym wskazano na zdolność mięczaków do kumulowania metali ciężkich, a tym samym stwierdzono, że spełniają one kryteria charakteryzujące dobre biomonitory.

The article presents the results of zoological examination of animal bone material from the metal ages acquired from site 2 in Zagórze, Niepołomice commune. It is dated back to the following cultures or periods: 1 – Lusatian culture, 2 – La Tène period, 3 – phase C of the La Tène period, 4 – Tyniec group, 5 – Púchov culture to the early Roman period, 6 – phase D of the La Tène period to phase B of the early Roman period, 7 – La Tène period to the early Roman period, 8 – early Roman period, 9 – Middle Ages, 10 – Prehistory, 11 – Modern Times. Animal bones from Zagórze were subject to zoological examination, consisting in species and anatomical indications, measurements and determination of age, sex and size of the animals. In particular bone series, remains of domestic mammals (cattle, goat/sheep, pig, horse, dog, cat), wild mammals (aurochs, deer, roe deer, boar, wildcat, rodents) and amphibian (frog) were identified.

Process of metal forming in automotive parts construction becomes more and more demanding due to tightened up tolerance and trials to realize very complex and in many cases unworkable design in mass production. Moreover, it is required to cut and limit costs of die production and simultaneously keep high quality. Furthermore, construction elements are more often produced from materials which belong to High Strength Steel or Ultra High Strength Steel. Application of this kind of materials considerably reduces construction mass due to high durability. Nevertheless, it results in appearance of springback effect. Springback value depends mainly on used material as well as part geometry and in extreme cases deviation value from target part might reach in some areas high level. Designing of dies requires using of appropriate Finite Element Method software to make them more economic and less timeconsuming. Therefore, analysis of forming process alone is not enough to be taken into account. During the design process, it is needed to include the die compensation to reach optimized blank sheet. Prediction of springback effect by tryout method and then correction of deviation is difficult arduous and painstaking. Virtual compensation methods make it possible to receive precise result in a short time. This way gives a huge economic advantage eliminating useless milling and allows producing of die just in time. Optimization process can relate to individual operation as well as take into consideration intermediate stages in the final result, at the same time increasing the accuracy. Die compensation with software application was experimentally verified by prototype die.

In the study suitability of water quality index approach and environmetric methods in fi ngerprinting heavy metal pollution as well as comparison of spatial variability of multiple contaminants in surface water were assessed in the case of The Gediz River Basin, Turkey. Water quality variables were categorized into two classes using factor and cluster analysis. Furthermore, soil contamination index was adapted to water pollution index and used to fi nd out the relative relationship between the reference standards and the current situation of heavy metal contamination in water. Results revealed that surface water heavy metal content was mainly governed by metal processing, textile and tannery industries in the region. On the other hand, metal processing industry discharges mainly degraded quality of water in Kemalpasa and Menemen. Furthermore, Kemalpasa region has been heavily affected from tannery and textile industries effl uents. Moreover, pollution parameters have not been infl uenced by changes in physical factors (discharge and temperature). This study indicated the effectiveness of water quality index approach and statistical tools in fi ngerprinting of pollution and comparative assessment of water quality. Both methods can assist decision makers to determine priorities in management practices.

W referacie przedstawiono efekt magnetycznej pamięci metalu (MPM). Zagadnienia teoretyczne zobrazowano przykładami uzyskanymi podczas diagnozowania elementów techniki lotniczej. Omówiono główne zalety MPM i trudności, na które napotyka się podczas badania drobnych elementów, np. wałków napędowych czy łopatek sprężarki. Wskazano po- trzebę udokumentowania skuteczności stosowania MPM w detekcji pęknięć zmęczeniowych typu HCF i VHCF.
In the abstract there has been presented magnetic memory phenomena (MPM). Theoretical background is delivered with the examples of aerospace elements diagnosis. In the article ad- vantages of technique (MPM) has been presented as well as difficulties met during the inspection for example small elements and such as: driving shafts or compressor’s blades. Moreover indication of necessity of the reliability prove for the fatigue HCF and VHCF cracks has been highlighted.

Some novel pyrazolo-chalcone molecules were synthesized by condensation of pyrzolo aldehyde with appropriate acetophenone. The synthesis of some metal complexes of transition metal was carried out with these pyrazoleo heterocyclic compounds. Each metal complex was synthesized by the reaction of new pyrazolochalcone derivatives with the metal salts such as Co(CH3COO)2·6H2O, Ni(CH3COO)2·6H2O, and Cu(CH3COO)2·2H2O. For the structure elucidation of ligand molecule various spectroscopic techniques such as 1H NMR, IR and mass has been used. The synthesized metal complexes were subjected to thermal study i.e., TGA and DTA in order to check structural conformation of synthesized metal complexes.

Contamination of soil with heavy metals has become a worldwide environmental problem, and receives great attention. In this study, we aim to investigate soil pollution level affected by an industrial district nearby. The total amount of typical heavy metals in the soils (Hengyang Songmu Industrial Park, Hunan Province, China) was analyzed. In addition, the fraction analysis and laboratory simulation leaching via different pH rainwater was carried out to study the migration and transformation of heavy metals. The main results show that the contents of Cu, Zn, Pb, Cr and Cd in the samples were higher than the soil background values in Hunan Province. The heavy metals forms, analyzed by sequential extraction method, show that the proportion of the unstable form of Cd, Zn and Pb was more than 50%. Igeo values indicate that the heavy metal pollution degree of soil sample #5 at the investigated area is recorded in the order of Cd(6.42), Zn(2.28), Cu(1.82), Pb(1.63), and Cr(0.37). Cu, Zn, Pb, Cr and Cd in this area could pose a potential leaching risk to the environment which may affect the food chain and constitute a threat to human health. It would be necessary to take steps to stabilize and monitor the heavy metals in soil.

Our objective has been to determine the total content of magnesium, iron, chromium and zinc, as well as the heavy metal fractions in selected natural fertilisers, such as swine and bovine manure and poultry litter from laying hens and broilers. The total content of the metals was determined by the ICP-AES method following dry mineralisation in a muffle furnace at 450°C and dissolving the ash in HCl (1:1). Fractions of Fe, Zn and Cr were isolated by the 3-step sequential fractionation method proposed by the Community Bureau of Reference (BCR). This study has shown that the analysed organic materials had different content of the determined metals. The largest amount of Mg was found in litter from laying hens and the largest amounts of Fe, Cr and Zn were in litter from broiler chickens. The smallest amount of Mg was found in swine manure, Fe and Cr were the least abundant in litter from laying hens, and the lowest Zn content was in bovine manure. The content of these four heavy metals was significantly differentiated by the origin of fertiliser. The exchangeable fraction F1 had the smallest share in the total Fe content among all the fertilisers. As for chromium, this fraction made the smallest contribution to the total Cr content in litter from laying hens and broilers while the reducible fraction F2 was the smallest part of the total content in both types of manure. Fraction F1 of zinc was the smallest in the total content in swine and bovine manure and while the oxidisable fraction F3 made up the smallest share in the total content of this metal in litter from broilers.

The article deals with the stress-strain analysis and investigations of operating properties of metal high-pressure gaskets. The simplified analytical approach is applied in the examinations of wave-ring gasket and lens-ring gasket. A cylindrical shell of constant mean thickness is introduced to simulate the gaskets. It is assumed that the shell is simply supported at the inner surfaces of the gasket seats. The influence of certain geometric, material and assembly parameters on the strength and leak-tightness of the closures is analytically investigated. Certain selected parameters of the closure are examined versus applied operating pressure for the assumed materials of the gasketed members and fixed several another data of the gaskets. The analysis is carried out in dimensionless variables in order to generalize the results. The region of admissible solutions for the gaskets parameters such as dimensions, applied assembly requirements and operating pressure is determined. The static tensile tests were carried out to determine the real mechanical properties of materials applied for the gaskets and the seats. The analytical solutions are verified by FEM calculations, which take into account the hardening of the material, friction at the surfaces and contact effects. Theoretical considerations are illustrated by numerical examples and compared with the experimental results obtained under assembly conditions with no operating pressure applied to the closures. Some conclusions may be recommended in design procedures of the high-pressure closures with metal gaskets.

Opis:
A highly-efficient three-port output of metal-mirror-based grating is proposed in this paper. The metal-mirror-based grating can function as a beam splitter which can diffract the normal incident wave into the 0th and the +/- 1st orders for both TE and TM polarizations with the usual duty cycle of 0.5. The analysis of the grating parameters can be optimized by rigorous coupled-wave analysis. The high efficiency for TE and TM polarizations shall be realized. By means of the numerical simulation, the depth and connecting layer thickness of grating can be accurately calculated. The efficiency of per port is near 33.3%, so the novel three-port output grating with a connecting layer would be an excellent optical element.

Opis:
High temperature vacuum brazing is a well-known and commonly used method for joining of nickel based elements and subassemblies of gas turbines, both for stationary and aviation applications. Despite the fact that currently used brazing filler metals meet stringent requirements of aviation and energetic industries, a lot of effort is spent on improving operational properties of the joints through modification of chemical composition or brazing process parameters. This paper aims for both of these aspects - its purpose is evaluation of the impact of filler metal composition, brazing gap width and process conditions on the microstructure of joints between sheet metal elements made of Hastelloy X nickel superalloy. Two different Ni-based filler materials (BNi-2 and Amdry 915) were investigated, based on the results of light and scanning electron microscopy evaluations, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and hardness measurements.
