Discussions regarding the notion of information have died out several years ago. However an agreement hasn’t been reached on the exact meaning of such a term. Most often the notion of information is understood as: 1) knowledge about structure of an object, 2) third appearance of the substance, 3) perceptible difference between objects. These interpretations are not exclusive, but there is not one theory that combine them. In cognitive psychology notion of information is perceived as a paradigm. At the same time its meaning is often equated with the concept of mental process, or the content of such mental process. Mental activity and in particular intellectual activity generally is recognized and equated with processing of an information. Such interpretation ignores the fact that information cannot be processed directly because it doesn’t exist without a carrier. In fact these carriers undergo processing. The new information based on re-configuration of carrier’s structure could be re-developed. The carriers are mental representations of the carried content and they represent themselves as icons, symbols and concepts. Hence the mental activity is the processing (sometimes creating) representations.

The Eye-Tracking Experimental Linguistics Laboratory conducted a study on translation process of German administrative acts into Polish. The aim of the study was to identify eye movements and associated mental processes during the perception of parts of speech in the German administrative acts (source text) during the translation process. Research method: The study was carried on a group of 15 participants. Eye-tracking analisys was performed using SMI RED 500 eyetracker and utilized the method of dynamic areas of interest (Dynamic AOI). Dyamic AOI-based method allowed the participants to freely move the windows on the monitor, use a PDF document, a text editor and a web browser at the same time. Results: Fixation duration (Fd) and Fixation Count (Fc) counts were significantly higher during perception of target text (Polish) than source text (German). There were no significant differences in FD between parts of the speech in source text, unlike the target text there were multiple differences were observed. In both source and final text there were multiple differences in Fc between different parts of the speech. There were no significant differences between perception of nouns and non-nouns in either text.Conclusions: Fixation count and fixation duration seem to be related with different mental processes during translation. Therefore, measuring eye movement with those parameters might be useful in further studies on translation process. Fixation count was more useful in investigating of mental processes than fixation duration.

We are interestedin course of the translation process in the brain, which is one of the most complicated processes connected with language. It integrates not only the linguistic perception and production,but also code-switching. I have discussed cognitive aspects of translation and I have attempted to pay a particular attention to cognitive conditions guaranteeing the correct process of translation. Translating from one language into the other is, in my opinion, possible thanks to the reference to the notional ground and information processing regardless of a language. The division of one mental lexicon common for the two languages into two separate mental lexicons influences the quality of translation. The condition of a successful translation is a correct identification of the notional structure and this, in turn, is possible only after the division of the mental lexicons so that the lexical units have a direct access to beyond language notion and can activate them.

In the article I ask the question about the place of an emancipatory task within various forms of psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, where conversations with the patient play an important role. This task arises on discovering that an important source of the patient’s problems are views inherited fom cultural traditions, ones which inhibit a proper assessment of various traumatic situations fom the past and the forms of dependence on others. Then psychotherapists and psychoanalysts are inevitably faced with the task of making the patient aware of these limitations and forms of dependence, for only then is therapeutic progress possible. I provide three characteristic examples of similar cases fom Polish psychiatric tradition, in which we can speak of a similarly binding role of cultural tradition in the process of therapy. I point out that the difcult situation the therapist then fnds themselves in lies in the fact that, on the one hand, they have to depart fom the postulate of maintaining world-view neutrality in their approach to the patient while, on the other hand, they cannot directly impose their own position on the patient. The article deals with relational aspects of mental disorders. The author takes into account the influence of mental illness on intersubjectivity and interpersonal relations in three aspects: (1) “attitude to the illness,” that is, changes in the functioning of the subject and difficulties in dealing with the experience of mental illness; (2) “dialogical relationship” in the form of difficulties in maintaining social cognition and entering into relationships with others; (3) “social consensus,” that is, difficulties in adapting to the social world and a common sense deficit. The analysis is made with reference to phenomenological research in contemporary philosophy of psychiatry. The result of this study is a reconstruction of a “different existence,” in other words, presentation of the transformation of the life-world and the specific way of inhabiting the world of a person in a mental crisis. Symptoms and experience of the illness are presented in the light of human possibilities of transformation. The analysis emphasizes the role of patients’ subjectivity and their efforts to find the meaning of a painful situation. The study of subjective aspects of disorders aims to reveal their consequences for understanding how to deal with mental crisis and to understand the positive aspects of the recovery process.

The aim of this paper is to justify the assumption that understanding is the essence of learning. From the constructivist viewpoint understanding is a complex mental and social process that involves decoding the symbolic message received from others and then interpreting and assigning a personal meaning to that message. Since personal background largely determines how the message will be understood it is important that the development of the learning environment encourages understanding from multiple perspective. Therefore the learning process should be based on techniques drawn from the constructivist’s epistemological assumptions, e.g., construction of intersubjective perspective, situated cognition in authentic life contexts and collaborative learning environment.

At present, the subject of basic and applied research is becoming a specific type of educational transaction whose aim is to know the cognitive determinants of the educational process. Research findings relating to the brain and mind indicate that if we can gain a better understanding of a pupil’s cognitive apparatus, this may lead to more effective teaching of low-performing pupils. When considering the causes of a pupil’s unsatisfactory school performance, it is important to consider which elements of thinking require activation during information processing, or task performance. Knowing the aspects of motor and mental speed and cognitive flexibility of the pupil is the starting point for cognitive stimulus transactions. From this knowledge, subsequently generated transactions can be carried out in an individual intervention aimed at remediating the possible cognitive deficiencies in low performing pupils. In the paper we present the results of the pilot research (as a part of more complex experimental study ), the intention of which is to assess the suitability and the selection of appropriate research tools in the diagnosis of motor speed in pupils. The diagnosis is an introduction to research on the assessment of the impact of the relationship between the motor speed and the speed of information processing in a student on the their success in learning. The subjects are students aged 8-10, gender-diverse. During the diagnosis: Mira Stambak hatch tests, the "Looping" test, the rate of writing the word "house" by Elżbieta Grzegorzewska test, Rene Zazzo Card Test, Ozierecki test of motor speed development, test of cognitive functions Trail Making Test (TMT) Dean Delis, Edith Kaplan and Joel Kramer. The following have been taken into account: accuracy of the test, time needed to carry out the test, clarity of instructions, criteria for evaluation of results and interest of students. After analyzing the results, it has been found that the proper tests will be conducted with the following tests: Looping, Hatching and Trail Making Test.

На основе схемы ментальной карты рассматривается методологическая последовательность образовательной технологии первых этапов вузовской подготовки по архитектурной специальности. Указывается на дихотомию архитектурной деятельности: как проектной, так и контролирующей процесс реализации. Профессиональное сознание архитектора является субъектом разработки, анализа и отбора проектных вариантов, и объектом накопления творческих навыков, как ортодоксальных, к которым относится овладение техническими дисциплинами, а также композиционно - художественными навыками, и трансцендентных, контролируемых психологическими механизмами, в частности, ассоциативным мышлением. Акцентируется роль ассоциаций в инициации, метаморфозах и оценке художественного образа в процессе проектирования. Показана роль так называемых субдоминантных факторов, влияющих на выбор решения, на возбуждение инсайта (озарения) - вершины творческого процесса, а также место и роль памяти в накоплении и реализации профессионального образного и технического ресурса.
On the basis of the mental map scheme the methodological sequence of educational technology of the first stages of high school preparation on architectural specialty is considered. It is specified a dichotomy of architectural activity: both design and realization supervising process. The professional consciousness of the architect is a subject of development, analysis and selection of design options, and an object of accumulation of creative skills, like orthodox to which mastering by technical disciplines, and also compositional - art skills, and transcendental, supervised by psychological mechanisms, in particular, associative thinking concerns.
W procesie zdobywania wiedzy w dziedzinie architektury niezwykle istotna jest kolejność wdrażania na poszczególnych etapach nauczania obowiązujących i pokrewnych dyscyplin. W początkowej fazie edukacji związanej z architekturą pomocne okazuje się postępowanie zgodnie ze schematem mapy mentalnej. Ważne jest, aby przyszli architekci wykształcili w sobie dwie umiejętności: projektową, a następnie kontrolującą proces realizacji projektu zgodnie z założoną wizją. W architektonicznej edukacji podkreśla się rolę intuicji i skojarzeń w twórczej inspiracji, metamorfozach oraz prezentacji artystycznych obrazów. W analizowanym obszarze istotne są również tzw. subdominantowe czynniki wpływające na podjęcie decyzji prowadzących na szczyty twórczej wyobraźni, połączonej z umiejętnością profesjonalnego wykorzystania dotychczasowego potencjału (zasobów).
