    The Pieniny Klippen Belt in Poland marks the Central Carpathian-North European plate suture zone. The strictly tectonic present-day confines of the Pieniny Klippen Belt are characterized as (sub)vertical faults and shear zones. A strong reduction in the space of the original sedimentary basins took place. The strike-slip-bounded tectonic blocks, thrust units, toe-thrusts and olistostromes are mixed together, resulting in the present-day mélange character where individual tectonic units are difficult to distinguish. The sedimentary rocks of the Pieniny Klippen Belt were deposited in the paleogeographic realm known as the Alpine Tethys that was divided into two basins separated by the Czorsztyn Ridge. The accretionary prism formed in front of the advancing Alcapa (Central Carpathians) terrane had overridden the Czorsztyn Ridge during the Late Cretaceous-Paleocene. The destruction of the Czorsztyn Ridge supplied huge amounts of coarse-clastic material, including olistoliths, into the Magura Basin during the Late Cretaceous-Paleocene. The rotation of the Alcapa caused the strike-slip motions which led to the deformation of the previously created nappes and development of the flower structure. Two parallel faults delineate the southern and northern limits of the Pieniny Klippen Belt. The stops in Sromowce (Macelowa and Sobczański Gorge area) allow the observation of the southern marginal zone of the Pieniny Klippen Belt, the overturned position of the rotated counterclockwise deformed rock as well as the diapiric uplift of the Pieniny rocks in a transpressional strike-slip regime. The Zawiasy (Krościenko area) stop is located in the northern marginal zone (Hulina Unit) of the Pieniny Klippen Belt along the major dextral strike-slip Dunajec Fault.

    The aim of this paper is to study a sustainable approach of recycling different fibre waste for the mélange yarn industry and to suggest a sustainable strategy of mixing dyed fibre waste for use by yarn supply chain engineers. Fibre waste was added to a Blow room or draw frame and compared in terms of properties. It was found that the mechanical properties of cotton mélange yarn manufactured by adding waste are suitable to be marketed. Various qualitative parameters such as the spun length, tenacity, elongation %, short fibre index (SFI), yarn evenness analysis, nep count analysis and waste assessment were discussed and compared in both kinds of mixing strategies i.e. mixing in the form of flocks in a blow room and in the form of slivers on a draw frame; as followed by the Mélange yarn Industry. The effect of increasing the number of passages on yarn quality was also analysed.
    Celem artykułu było zbadanie zrównoważonego podejścia do recyklingu różnych odpadów włókiennych w produkcji przędzy melanżowej i zasugerowanie zrównoważonej strategii mieszania barwionych odpadów włókiennych do wykorzystania przez inżynierów w łańcuchu dostaw przędzy. Odpady z włókien dodano do suszarni lub ramy wyciągowej i porównano pod względem właściwości. Stwierdzono, że właściwości mechaniczne bawełnianej przędzy melanżowej wytwarzanej przez dodanie odpadów są odpowiednie do wprowadzenia do obrotu. Różne parametry jakościowe, takie jak długość przędzenia, wytrzymałość na rozciąganie, % wydłużenia, wskaźnik krótkich włókien (SFI), analiza równomierności przędzy, analiza liczby zgrubień i ocena odpadów zostały omówione i porównane w obu rodzajach strategii mieszania.

    The aim of this work was to investigate the properties of upholstery fabric produced from recycled hard waste of coloured fabric clippings. Mélange yarns were formed with the combination of red, green, black and yellow in different ratios. Five yarn samples of 5 Nec linear density were produced from each blend ratio using the rotor spinning technique. These yarns were used to develop fabric samples in a satin weave. These yarn and fabric samples were investigated for different quality parameters, especially the abrasion resistance, pilling resistance, absorbency and light fastness of the fabrics as per standard test methods. The abrasion test is important for the durability and longer-lasting performance of upholstery fabric. From the analysis of test results, it is concluded that all the serviceability properties are in a good range, and these fabrics can be used for waiting room area upholstery fabric.
    Celem pracy było zbadanie właściwości tkanin obiciowych wytworzonych z recyklingu odpadów kolorowych ścinków tkanin. Przędze melanżowe powstały z połączenia czerwonego, zielonego, czarnego i żółtego koloru w różnych proporcjach. Wytworzono pięć próbek przędzy z każdego stosunku mieszanki przy użyciu techniki przędzenia rotorowego. Przędze zostały wykorzystane do opracowania próbek tkanin. Następnie próbki przędzy i tkanin zbadano pod kątem różnych parametrów jakościowych, w szczególności odporności na ścieranie, odporności na pilling, chłonności i odporności na światło tkanin zgodnie ze standardowymi metodami badawczymi. Test ścieralności jest ważny z punktu widzenia trwałości tkaniny obiciowej. Z analizy wyników badań wynikało, że wszystkie właściwości użytkowe mieszczą się w dobrym zakresie, a tkaniny te mogą być stosowane jako tkaniny obiciowe.

    Ophiolitic blocks, represented by metagabbro and serpentinite containing relict pyroxene, olivine, baddeleyite, zirconolite, Ni-pyrite and pyrrhotite, were found as exotic blocks in an olistostrome in the Magura Nappe, Outer Western Carpathians. The geochemical and isotopic features of the blocks suggest they represent mantle-derived rocks, with within-plate geochemistry signatures, modified by subduction, with lithospheric mantle input. A U-Pb apatite cooling age (614 ±3 Ma) is within age uncertainty of a published U-Pb zircon magmatic crystallization age (~614 Ma) implying rapid post-crystallization cooling. Pervasive alteration with replacement of primary minerals by low-temperature assemblages is observed in all rock fragments and is interpreted as contemporaneous with shearing. The secondary mineral assemblages and temperature modelling allow the interpretation that the pervasive ocean-floor metamorphism is the alteration in these meta-mafic rocks. These ophiolitic fragments can be linked to the Neoproterozoic break up of Rodinia/Pannotia.

    Based on geological field mapping, analyses of cores from explanatory wells, and foraminiferal age control data, we have differentiated a few types of mélanges and broken formations at the bordering zone between the Magura and Silesian nappes (Gorlice area in the Polish Outer Carpathians). These mélanges and broken formations differ in composition and structure due to different settings and processes of their formation. Several levels of broken formation within the uppermost part of the Krosno Beds were formed as mass-transport deposits at the southern slope of the Silesian Basin. They may record tectonic pulses related to advancing accretionary wedge within Magura area and directly predate the stage of the larger-scale sedimentary mélange formation at the front of the wedge. This mélange is composed mainly of the material representing the Magura succession (Siary Subunit) and the Krosno type sediments of the Silesian succession. It was emplaced within the Silesian basin in the Early Miocene time. The so-called “Harklowa peninsula”, whose geological structure has been the subject of discussions and various interpretations in the past years, is built of this type of mélange. The other recognized type of broken formation and mélange represents the chaotic bodies formed at the base of the Magura Nappe.The results of our studies contribute to better understanding of the structural evolution of this part of the Outer Carpathians

    Prison facilities are special: they are complexes defined by a variety of parameters, whose understanding for an ordinary person is far from perfect. It may be observed that two main cultures clash in prisons: that of jailers and that of inmates. Both groups have different rules of conduct, which results in many misunderstandings and new norms of behaviour created on a daily basis. This, in turn, gives way to a constant creation of unique vocabulary specific to the institution, its inhabitants and employees. It may be said that under such conditions prison language thrives: prison slang is extremely changeable and adapts itself to the current needs of the facility. Thus, the level of linguistic creativity is tremendously high: prisoners base their vocabulary loosely on similarities between animate and inanimate beings, which leads to the development of highly figurative language. The research undertaken here focuses on linguistic creativity in American prison settings, and by doing so, draws attention to the originality and unconventionality of prison slang.

    Fibre of dyed mélange yarn is becoming an emerging product in the field of textiles. The quality of mélange yarn is largely influenced by the types of blending methodologies. There exists hardly any reported work where the effect of blending methods on cotton mélange yarn quality has been studied. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of blending methodologies on the properties of cotton mélange spun yarn. Dyed and grey cotton fibre components were mixed at the blow room and draw frame stages separately to produce mélange yarns with three different shade depths (%). Better yarn quality with respect to yarn evenness, imperfections, tenacity, elongation at break and hairiness index was achieved with the draw frame blending methodology as compared to the blow room blending methodology. The mélange yarn quality deteriorates with an increase in shade depth (%) for both blending methodologies.
    Włókna z barwionej przędzy melanżowej stają się obecnie znaczącym produktem w obszarze produkcji tekstyliów. Na jakość przędzy melanżowej w dużej mierze wpływają rodzaje metod mieszania. Niewiele jest doniesień na temat wpływu metody mieszania na jakość przędz bawełnianych. Celem artykułu było zbadanie wpływu metod mieszania na właściwości przędzionej przędzy z mieszanki bawełny. Włókna bawełniane mieszano tak, aby wytworzyć melanżowe włókna o trzech różnych głębokościach odcieni (%). Oceniono jakość przędzy w odniesieniu do równomierności przędzy, niedoskonałości, wytrzymałości na rozciąganie, wydłużenia przy zerwaniu i wskaźnika włochatości. Stwierdzono, że jakość przędzy melanżowej pogarsza się wraz ze wzrostem głębi koloru (%) niezależnie od wybranej metody mieszania.

    One of the successful tools used in creative contemporary advertising is the intentional modification of texts taken from popular literature (Gajewska 2011, also Bralczyk 2004). This paper offers a conceptual blending analysis of an advertisement for Ranigast®, a medicine used in the treatment of dyspepsia, which relies on a paraphrased  fragment of The Sick Kitten, a famous Polish poem for children written by Stanisław Jachowicz. The linguistic analysis of the proposed advertisement will be carried out in the light of conceptual blending theory, in particular with the aid of Line Brandt and Per Aage Brandt’s model of conceptual integration (Brandt and Brandt 2005) Assuming that each advertisement is, to some extent, an interplay between the speaker and the hearer, a particular emphasis is going to be laid upon the complexity of the so-called Semiotic Base Space which serves as a “prerequisite for meaning construction” in the analyzed ad (Brandt and Brandt 2005: 225). For further elaboration of the Semiotic Base Space, which I consider of vital importance for an analyzed instance, Ronald Langacker’s notion of Current Discourse Space (Langacker 1999, 2001) as well as Esther Pascual’s notions of the Verbal Space and Here-and-Now Space (Pascual 2009) will also be taken into account.
