The paper describes the implementation of a modified state equation for perfect gas and Tammann equation into a 3D RANS solver FlowER. In the modification the specific heats are assumed as linear functions of temperature. A 5-stage LP steam turbine stage is calculated, and the comparison of results for constant and variable specific heats is illustrated. The modification significantly improves the correctness of determination of thermodynamic parameters in the entire flow region, especially in the exit stage.

Opis:
Low pressure casting is a very well established process for the casting of aluminium alloys. In the field of ferrous materials, however, the process has so far only found a few applications. The crucial reasons for this are the low flexibility and poor economic efficiency of the existing technologies. Since 2016, a new technology has been developed at the Foundry Institute of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, in which an induction crucible furnace can be used as a melting unit and, in combination with a cover including a casting pipe, as a casting unit. The new technology stands out from existing low-pressure casting technologies for ferrous materials, particularly in terms of its flexibility and cost-effectiveness. The main focus of the activities was the development of a casting pipe as well as the verification of its lifetime, the elaboration and verification of process parameters and sequences as well as the upscaling of the technology for an industrial application. In all considerations, the focus was on both the technical feasibility and the economic efficiency of the process. The result is extensive expertise that can be used in the future to offer a finished product for industrial applications as a plug-and-play solution together with an induction furnace construction company.

Opis:
Computational Materials Engineering (CME) is a high technological approach used to design and develop new materials including the physical, thermal and mechanical properties by combining materials models at multiple techniques. With the recent advances in technology, the importance of microstructural design in CME environments and the contribution that such an approach can make in the estimation of material properties in simulations are frequently discussed in scientific, academic, and industrial platforms. Determination of the raw material characteristics that can be modeled in a virtual environment at an atomic scale by means of simulation programs plays a big role in combining experimental and virtual worlds and creating digital twins of the production chain and the products. In this study, a new generation, alternative and effective approach that could be used to the development of Al-Si based wheel casting alloys is proposed. This approach is based on the procedure of optimizing the physical and thermodynamic alloy properties developed in a computer environment with the CME technique before the casting phase. This article demonstrates the applicability of this approach in alloy development studies to produce Al-Si alloy wheels using the low pressure die casting (LPDC) method. With this study, an alternative and economical way is presented to the alloy development studies by trial and error in the aluminum casting industry. In other respects, since the study is directly related to the automotive industry, the reduction in fuel consumption in vehicles is an expected effect, as the new alloy aims to reduce the weight of the wheels. In addition to conserving energy, reducing carbon emissions also highlights the environmental aspects of this study.

Artykuł przedstawia potencjał ekonomiczny drzemiący w wymianie handlowej pomiędzy Chinami, a Unią Europejską przy użyciu nowego środka transportu - kolei niskociśnieniowej. Technologia opiera się na przewożeniu dóbr w kapsułach, poruszających się wewnątrz szczelnie zamkniętej tuby, w której ciśnienie obniżone jest do około 100Pa. Dzięki niskiemu ciśnieniu, opór powietrza wewnątrz tuby również jest bardzo niski, co pozwala kapsule na poruszanie się w niej bez znaczących strat energii. W przyszłości umożliwi to bardzo szybki i ekonomiczny transport dóbr pomiędzy Chinami i Europą. Uważa się, że kapsuła będzie w stanie osiągnąć prędkość około 1000km/h. W oparciu o te założenia, zaistniały nowe perspektywy w obszarze wymiany handlowej Europy z Chinami. Dotyczy to w szczególności okręgów przemysłowo- przeładunkowych jak Sinchuan, Yunnan, Kweichow czy Chongqing. Potencjał tych regionów to 200 milionowa populacja, terytorium o powierzchni dwukrotnie większej od Francji oraz szybki wzrost gospodarczy - około 10%. W 2016 roku, pociąg z Chengu do Łodzi wyruszył 463 razy, natomiast w 2017 było już około 1000 kursów. Gospodarka Sinchuan opiera głównie się na: rolnictwie, energetyce wodnej, dużych zasobach gazu, przemyśle ciężkim i elektronice. Gospodarka Chongqing bazuje na: motoryzacji, przemyśle ciężkim, elektronice oraz przemyśle chemicznym. W Yunnan natomiast dominują przetwórstwo rolne, zasoby naturalne oraz przemysł ciężki. Z punktu widzenia interesów Polski, na największą uwagę zasługują okręgi Sinchuan i Chongqing. To one czerpią największe korzyści z rozwoju chińskiej gospodarki. Współtworzą również Nowy Jedwabny Szlak - projekt OBOR (ang. One Belt One Road) i aspirują do stania się handlowym, finansowym, technologiczno-naukowym i telekomunikacyjno-transportowym centrum świata.
The article presents the economic potential of trade between China and the European Union using a new means of transport - low-pressure railways. The technology is based on the transport of goods in capsules, moving inside a tightly closed tube, in which the pressure is lowered to about 100Pa. Thanks to the low pressure, the resistance of the air inside the tube is also very low, which allows the capsules to move in it without significant energy losses. In the future, this will make it possible to transport goods very quickly and economically between China and Europe. It is believed that the capsule will be able to reach a speed of about 1000km/h. Based on these assumptions, there are new prospects for Europe's trade with China. This applies in particular to industrial and transhipment districts such as Sinchuan, Yunnan, Kweichow and Chongqing. These regions have a population of 200 million, a territory twice as large as France, and rapid economic growth of around 10%. In 2016, the train from Cheng to Łódź set off 463 times, while in 2017 there were already about 1000 chickens. The economy of Sinchuan is mainly based on: The economy of Sinchuan is mainly based on: agriculture, hydroelectricity, large gas resources, heavy industry and electronics. Chongqing's economy is based on: The Chongqing economy is based on: automotive, heavy industry, electronics and chemical industry. Yunnan is dominated by agricultural processing, natural resources and heavy industry. The Sinchuan and Chongqing districts deserve the most attention from the point of view of Polish interests. They benefit most from the development of the Chinese economy. They also co-create the New Silk Road - the OBOR (One Belt One Road) project and aspire to become a commercial, financial, technological, scientific and telecommunication and transport centre of the world.

Celem niniejszej pracy jest rozwiązanie problemu dotyczącego czasu wsiadania i wysiadania pasażerów oraz ich wpływu na przyjazdy i odjazdy kolei niskociśnieniowej, wykorzystując modelowanie w programie symulacyjnym FlexSim. Do wykonania powyższych badań stworzono siedem wersji modelów komputerowych, w tym model główny oraz sześć innych wariantów. Umożliwiły one analizę różnych scenariuszy związanych z procesem wsiadania i wysiadania z pojazdu. Przeprowadzona symulacja dostarczyła wniosków, które mogą być wykorzystane w dalszych pracach projektowych. Badanie wykazało, że symulacja komputerowa w FlexSim zapewnia przejrzystość wyników. Tradycyjne obliczenia dotyczące czasu wsiadania, wysiadania i liczby pociągów zdolnych do pokonania trasy lub rozpoczęcia podróży byłby bardziej złożone i czasochłonne w tym przypadku.
The aim of the work was to solve the problem related to the boarding and alighting time of passengers, and its impact on the arrivals and departures of a low‐pressure railway using modeling in the simulation program FlexSim. To conduct the research, seven versions of computer models were created, including a main model and six other variants. They allowed for testing various scenarios related to the boarding and alighting process, which affect the arrival and departure times of the train. The simulation results can be used to draw conclusions for further project work. The conducted study demonstrates the transparency of the results obtained using the computer simulation FlexSim. In this case, traditional calculations regarding the boarding and alighting time and the numer of trains that can travel the entire route or depart from it would be more complicated and time‐consuming.

This paper presents the analysis of costs and cost-efficiency of the repair of modern fuel injection systems in compression-ignition engines. The requirements for modern Diesel engines are low emission of toxic substances into the atmosphere and low fuel consumption. In order to meet the rigorous standards, the Common Rail fuel injection system has been implemented. By increasing fuel injection pressure to 200 MPa and introducing multi-stage dosing, engine designers have improved the process of air-fuel mixture combustion and engine ecological and economic parameters. The price for these changes is an accelerated wear of fuel injection equipment in modern CI engines. Regular fuel filter replacement and periodical cleaning of the systems would minimise the risk of damage. Unfortunately, most users do not comply with vehicle servicing times, and come to car repair shops only when a failure occurs, but then it is too late and the repair costs are high.

Overcoming of road impassibility, increase of vehicle passability are the issues that are always actual for the areas with insufficiently developed road network in remote regions of the North, the Far East, Siberia, and also the lack of roads in oil and gas production places and their transportation to gathering stations. This issue is also actual during rescue missions after natural disasters, emergency situations and technogeneous disasters. To solve this important issue domestic and foreign industries produced and produce different kinds of off-road vehicles and snow and swamp-going vehicles: caterpillar, ski-caterpillar, on low-pressure tires. The advantage of the latter is the discovery of new opportunities in transportation, ecological compatibility, improved productivity and passableness. It is important to mention that almost all vehicles on extra-low pressure tires can swim. The fact that they all possess hermetic frame contributes to it, what is more, this usage of extra-low pressure tires provides this opportunity. This opportunity to deliver goods by the vehicles with extra-low pressure tires (VELPT), having no restriction in exploitation in summer and winter in the conditions of Arctic weak tundra, increases the competitive power of these vehicles compared to caterpillar off-road vehicles. Moreover, their usage is much cheaper than delivery by helicopter. All these lead to the popularity of VELPT, the growth of the number of their types for various purposes and appearance of new producers of this type of off-road vehicles.

The paper presents the concept of vibration measurement and reduction system for rails in hyperloop technology. It is based on the experience of measuring vibrations in high-speed rail, the first commercial magnetic rail, and vibration reduction systems for these rails. The authors outlined a conceptual vibration monitoring system based on the MQTT protocol and the vibration reduction method. The vibration reduction systems based on variable-characteristic silencers and solutions used in research centers, especially in CERNie and LIGO, were de-scribed.

Controlled fusion based on the magnetic confinement of the plasma is one of the main aims of the Eurofusion programme. In the fusion device, the hydrogen isotopes, in nuclear reactions, will produce helium nuclei. The products, as the ash, will be removed from the plasma in the region of the so-called divertor. Controlling the helium to hydrogen ratio in this ‘exhaust gas’ will provide information about the efficiency of the fusion process as well as of the efficiency of the helium removal system. One of the methods to perform this task is to study the properties of the discharge conducted in such exhaust gas. In this paper, the applicability of the dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) is studied. This preliminary experiment shows a great potential in applicability of this kind of discharge. The optical as well as pulse-height spectra were studied, both revealing very promising properties. In the optical spectrum, one can observe well separated hydrogen and helium spectral lines, with intensities of the same order of magnitude. Moreover, in the registered spectral region, the molecular spectra are negligible. The pulse-height spectra reveal very distinct shape in helium and hydrogen. Checking of this spectrum could provide parallel (redundant) information about the partial pressure of helium in the magnetic confinement fusion (MCF) device exhaust gas.

The results of the gas-dynamic calculation of the low-pressure cylinder flow part of the K-220-44 type steam turbine intended for operation at nuclear power plants are presented. The ways of the flow part improvement were determined. Some of those ways include the use of innovative approaches that were not previously used in steam turbines. The design of the new flow part was carried out on the basis of a comprehensive methodology implemented in the IPMFlow software package. The methodology includes gas-dynamic calculations of various levels of complexity, as well as methods for analytical construction of the spatial shape of the blade tracts based on a limited number of parameterized values. The real thermodynamic properties of water and steam were taken into account in 3D calculations of turbulent flows. At the final step, end-to-end 3D calculations of the lowpressure cylinder that consists of 5 stages were performed. The technology of parallel computing was applied in those calculations. It is shown that due to the application of innovative solutions, a significant increase in efficiency can be achieved in the developed low-pressure cylinder.

Opis:
Nuclear power plants play an important role in power systems of many countries. Ability to reasonable increase installed capacity of nuclear power units allow to reduce the cost for building of new power plants. When increasing NPP capacity to 104% there is a need to estimate the residual life of plant’s typical elements and continue their operation. The mathematical model of estimation of service life indicators of steam turbine K-1000-60/3000 is developed. The effect of increasing the capacity of a nuclear reactor on the heat transfer coefficients of a steam in the nozzle segments of high-pressure cylinder was established by using CFD modeling. The thermal and stress-strain state of the high-pressure rotor for the most typical operating modes are calculated. Using the correlation dependences of low-cycle fatigue, the rate of accumulation of cyclic damage of the base metal is established. The resistance of the metal to the exhaustion of long-term strength is also determined. On the example of the high pressure rotor of the 3rd power unit of Rivne NPP the service life indicators are calculated. The validity of increasing the installed capacity of the power unit was also confirmed.

In this paper the possibilities of using Low Pressure Cold Spraying (LPCS) method for filling the casting defects are presented. In Cold Spraying there is no metallurgical bonding because powder particles are deposited in solid state. The effect of high temperature on both substrate and coating structure is avoided. In performed experiments coatings of Al, Zn and Sn powders with addition of Al2O3 ceramic were deposited onto chosen aluminium alloys substrates. Two the most important mechanical properties of Cold Sprayed coatings, i.e. bond strength and microhardness, were analysed. Coatings bond strength was determined by tensile pull test. Coatings microstructure was examined with the use of scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis. LPCS method potential applications in castings repair is shown.

The comminution process and mechanism of low-grade hematite ore in a high pressure grinding roll (HPGR) were investigated in this work. Three different methods were used for comminution of the hematite ore: HPGR with an air classifier, HPGR with screening followed by ball milling (HPGR+BM), and cone crushing with screening followed by ball milling (CC+BM). In addition, the effects of comminution methods on the degree of liberation of minerals in the grinding products were compared. The results suggest that the comminution process of the ore can be divided into four stages: appearance of tiny cracks, expansion of tiny cracks, which eventually form microcosmic cracks, development of principle cracks, and generation of the conjugate fracturing zone. Intergranular cracks, including partial intergranular cracks and complete intergranular cracks, are apparent in the comminution products of the HPGR. The complete intergranular cracks mainly occur in the conjugate fracturing zone, while the partial intergranular cracks within the particles result in an abundance of locked-particles in the comminution products. Furthermore, the degree of liberation of minerals is more influenced by the final grinding mode rather than the crushing method. It is found that complete intergranular cracks in the conjugate fracturing zone play a significant role in increasing the degree of liberation of iron minerals in the fine size fraction. The “mosaic-type” locked-particles have negligible effect on the liberation properties of iron minerals during the subsequent grinding process.
