Theoretical basis of the paper is to define the concept of outsourcing as well as benefits and risks associated with its implementation. Article specifies what means outsourcing in the field of logistics and presents division of logistics services which are sent to external companies. Current state and prospects of development of outsourcing in Poland is discussed as well. Parametric and nonparametric thesis of significance for differences in sale’s changes in the logistics industry for 50 and 500, top enterprises were used in order to verify the aim. An analysis of the dynamics of changes in sales in the logistics industry for logistics, freight forwarding as well as transport companies was carried on the basis of the average rate of changes over the period 2006-2016.

Logistics operators are characterized by a high dynamics of an increase of incomes, and hence increased shipping. Owing to a rational policy in the area of the consolidation of production and distribution, they may boast of a better use of the means of transport. The aim of the article is to analyse the promoted behaviours of logistics operators in Poland and in Ukraine. The research methods used in the study include a literature analysis, a comparative analysis and a questionnaire survey of logistics operators’ clients in Poland and in Ukraine. Selected items have been evaluated: eco-friendly programs, action for the environment, exhaust emission reports, CSR activities carried out locally, nationally and globally, sustainable development of logistics operators, professional development of employees, innovative technologies implemented by logistics operators and transport safety. The analysis conducted in relation to logistics operators will show similarities and differences in the promoted environmental activities and to what extent this is noticed by customers.

The rise in the demand for comprehensive logistic services causes that the 3PL sector finds itself at present in the phase of intense development, undergoing certain simultaneous transformations. It becomes more and more competitive, and the range of services offered by logistic operators still grows. The article offers a comparison and analysis of the logistics operator presented to selected customers, putting the emphasis on the identification of price differences in personalized offers of cooperation. Furthermore flexibility of 3PL subjects their ability to individualize the offer and to adapt it to client’s specific requirements will be examined.

These days, an increase is being observed in the number of 4PL operators on the market of logistics service providers. The purpose of the article is to present the role of the logistics operator in the management of the supply chain of companies on the territory of Poland as well as the kinds of services provided by these companies. The methods used herein include an analysis of literature, a method of selected case studies and indirect measurements. The analysis was based on four logistics operators with the largest incomes on the Polish market: Raben Group, Schenker Sp. z o.o., FM logistics and DPD Polska Sp. z o.o.

The article is an attempt to approach essential issues in modern logistics customer service. It shows the direct link between logistics operations and customer satisfaction before, during and after the service is provided. Third party logistics operator “GAMA” serves as an example of a successful logistics strategy appliance, which translates into high customer satisfaction. A detailed description of logistics services and the role they play in the modern market is provided.

Artykuł dotyczy teoretycznego konceptu koordynacji logistycznej, która zakłada szeroki udział operatora logistycznego (usługodawcy logistycznego) w aktywnym planowaniu, realizacji i dostarczaniu usług logistycznych, wspomagających oraz VAS w obszarze sieci dystrybucji. W artykule poruszane są przykłady wdrożeń częściowych założeń koncepcji w działalność rynkową oraz opisane jest nowe rozwiązanie, które ma za zadanie ukazać kolejny aspekt koordynacji logistycznej, mianowicie jej wpływ na realizację założeń zrównoważonego rozwoju. Założenia te dotyczyć będą dwóch filarów związanych z ekologią i ergonomią pracy przedstawioną za pomocą optymalizacji w obszarze gospodarki kartonami przeznaczonymi do wysyłki w ramach działalności outsourcingowej. Takie podejście możliwe jest dzięki zastosowaniu nowoczesnej technologii przetwarzania i prezentowania danych oraz zdolności operatora do przejęcia niektórych funkcji w aspektach koordynacji logistycznej. Autor artykułu nakreśla również perspektywy badań w zakresie wdrażania rozwiązań dążących do implementacji podstawowych założeń koncepcji koordynacji logistycznej w realiach praktyki przemysłowej w sieciach dystrybucji, w których funkcjonuje operator logistyczny świadczący usługi w ramach logistyki kontraktowej dla przedsiębiorstw produkcyjnych oraz przedsiębiorstw w branży e-commerce.
The article concerns the theoretical concept of logistics coordination, which assumes the wide involvement of the logistics operator (logistic service provider) in active planning, implementation and delivery of logistics, support and VAS services in the area of the distribution network. The article discusses examples of partial implementation of the concept on the markets and describes a new solution that is intended to show another aspect of logistics coordination, namely its impact on the implementation of sustainable development assumptions. The assumptions of sustainable development concern two pillars related to ecology and work ergonomics, presented by means of optimization in the area of management of cartons intended for shipment as part of outsourcing activities. This approach is possible thanks to the use of modern data processing and presentation technology and the operator's ability to take over some functions of logistics coordination. The article also outlines further research perspectives in the field of logistics coordination in the realities of industrial practice in distribution networks in which there is a logistics operator providing services under contract logistics for manufacturing enterprises and enterprises in the e-commerce industry.

Purpose: This article addresses the issue of forecasting demand for products flowing in a distribution network conducted from the perspective of a 3PL logistics operator. Its purpose is to present a tool based on the R software, which is to be used for automatic forecasting of time series. Design/methodology/approach: The work uses the algorithm of automatic forecasting of time series implemented in the "forecast" package. The algorithm was used in a loop for different lengths of the time series to determine the best length of the series. The minimal RMSE value in the training set and in the test set were considered as optimality criteria. Findings: It is shown that the best time series length is 60 weeks in the considered case. Originality/value: The procedure for selecting the best time window length for forecasting demand for products in distribution network.

Introduction/background: The article presents a literature analysis related to the concept of distribution network configuration. The main determinants of network configuration and their impact on key solutions used in networks are also indicated. As a key solution related to the correct management of demand, including forecasting, the author considered centralisation in networks. The article also presents the results of research carried out on 5 distribution networks, in which the correlations between the elements of their configuration and the results of forecasts made using the tool previously created by the author are examined. Aim of the paper: The purpose of the article is to present the concept of distribution network configuration in the conditions of centralised demand forecasts, with the central unit at the level of logistics operator. In addition, the article will consider the hypothesis regarding whether the configuration of the distribution network affects the accuracy of forecasts. Materials and methods: The purpose of the article and verification of the hypothesis was carried out with the help of literature studies, results of the conducted case study, and on the basis of the results of forecasts obtained using the prognostic tool created by the author in the R environment. Results and conclusions: The article demonstrates the basic ability of a logistics operator, working in MDP in the distribution network, to make forecasts and analyse the distribution network. In addition to that, the article presents results indicating that a properly selected configuration of the distribution network has a positive effect on the accuracy of forecasts contained in it.

Aiming at meeting the general EU transport policy objective, the EC has started promoting very actively the sustainable development of the member states transport systems. Putting into effect common framework and methodology for estimating the external costs of transport activities and specifying how external costs can be internalized in all modes of transport, the EC intends to minimize their negative impact on all spheres of human activity. This strategy needs to apply social marginal cost pricing (SMCP) for the use of transport infrastructure. It could, however, induce significant changes on the EU transport markets and subsequently affect the supply networks and logistics supply chains leading to their rationalization in terms of optimizing transport and inventory costs.

W przeciwieństwie do inwestycji spekulacyjnych są one projektowane z myślą o specyficznych potrzebach przyszłego, konkretnego użytkownika. W niniejszej pracy krótko przedstawiono aktualne tendencje występujące na rynku magazynowym w Polsce. Zasadniczą część stanowi przedstawienie przykładu przeniesienia działalności firmy z dotychczasowego obiektu do magazynu typu BTS. Opisano najważniejsze z zastosowanych nowoczesnych rozwiązań. Przybliżono przyczyny oraz korzyści płynące z podjęcia takiej decyzji biznesowej.
Polish market of the warehouse spaces is in a superb shape and develops rapidly. The continued growth in resources of the available modern warehouse space is surveyed in the recent years. At the same time the rental fees remain on the low, stable level. Currently, more and more companies opt for transfer to build-to-suit facilities. They are designed with idiosyncratic requirements of future, particular users in mind, as opposed to speculative investments. The paper presents shortly the prevailing tendencies on the warehouses market. The pivotal part is constituted by presentation of example of transfer the company from the foregoing warehouse to the modern BTS facility. The most important applied innovative solutions were described. The reasons and the advantages ot such a decision were drawn close.

W artykule zawarte są treści dające się sprowadzić do trzech tez, traktujących o: uczestnikach rynku transportowego, tzn. głównie o małych i średnich przedsiębiorstwach (firmach) i zachowaniu ich na nim; zakresie usług transportowych innych niż przewóz rzeczy oraz o zmianach zachodzących w usługach transportowo-spedycyjnych. Z treści artykułu wynika, że zwiększenie zakresu usług transportowych spowodowało powstanie licznych małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw (MiŚP) specjalizujących się w realizacji zadań cząstkowych w układach transportowych. Natomiast w wyniku zjawiska integracji realizacji usług cząstkowych powstają zestawy usług stanowiące zintegrowaną usługę logistyczną. Takie postępowanie jest wynikiem dążenia do optymalizacji przedsięwzięć w całym łańcuchu (kanale) transportowym. Ponadto w artykule wskazano, że istnieje potrzeba, a wręcz konieczność doskonalenia i dokonywania permanentnych zmian w rodzajach i formach oferowanych usług, a także poszerzania ich zakresu w celu uzyskania konkurencyjności MiŚP na rynku usług transportowych. Zatem dalej w treści artykułu uzasadnia się, iż najnowsze i najczęstsze tendencje funkcjonowania MiŚP transportowych w łańcuchu (kanale) przewozowym, to ich współpraca z dużymi międzynarodowymi firmami w ramach tworzonych grup kapitałowych. Artykuł kończą zasadne i stosowne wnioski oraz uogólnienia.
The article contains content that can be included in three theses describing the participants of the transport market, namely mainly about small and medium enterprises (companies) and their behaviour on it; the scope of transport services other than transport of goods and changes in transport and forwarding services. The article shows that the increase in the scope of transport services has resulted in the creation of a number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) specialising in in the implementation of partial tasks in transport systems. As a result of the phenomenon of integration of partial services implementation, sets of services are created which create an integrated logistics service. Such a procedure is a result of striving for optimization of undertakings in the whole transport chain (channel). Furthermore, in order to achieve the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises in the transport services market, the article highlights the need for, and even the need for, improvement and making permanent changes in kinds, forms, and manners of still offered services and in their scope. The article also justifies that the latest and most frequent trends in the functioning of small and medium-sized transport enterprises in the transport chain (transport channel), concern cooperation with large international companies within the established capital groups. The article ends with justified and appropriate conclusions and generalisations.

Comprehensive supply chain management necessitate the creation of an advanced storage system, adequate technological facilities and it. Professional logistic support area of e-commerce is concerned mostly with the adaptation of the infrastructure available to meet the needs of this branch of trade. Logistics operators must consistently and successfully invest in the training of its own staff, to enable them to carry out difficult projects that ensure the long-term cooperation with the clients. On the development of human resources have an impact first and foremost the growing requirements of the clients. This is mainly due to the enormous competition in the market for logistics services. E-commerce industry is rapidly growing industry also on the Polish market and, therefore, waiting for us a lot of changes on the logistics market.

Zaprezentowano główne trendy występujące pomiędzy strategią i logistyką, a także podkreślono rozwój strategii łańcucha dostaw.
The article presents a theoretical discussion on network structures. The research focus is on the operations one of Dachser branches. The article characterises and makes a comparative analysis of strategy of one of the European logistics operators based in Poland. The research provides a comprehensive insight into practical problems in managing supply chain based on procedures implemented in a logistics company. Main research trends running between strategy and logistics are also presented and the development prospects of supply chain strategy are highlighted.

Innowacje są kluczowym czynnikiem sukcesu wielu firm, w tym operatorów logistycznych. Zarządzanie procesem ich kreowania i adaptacji może dostarczyć firmie przewagę konkurencyjną, która pozwoli najpierw pozyskać, następnie zatrzymać, a w końcu zwiększyć udział w wydatkach klienta na usługi logistyczne. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przybliżenie zagadnienia innowacji logistycznych, w tym innowacyjnych usług logistycznych (tj. radykalnych innowacji), prześledzenie procesu tworzenia innowacji w relacjach operatorów logistycznych z klientami oraz zwrócenie uwagi na aspekty wzmacniające wskaźnik innowacji, zarówno radykalnych jak i przyrostowych. W artykule wykorzystane zostaną wyniki wstępnych etapów badań prowadzonych wśród operatorów logistycznych na rynku amerykańskim.
Innovations are a key success factor for many firms including logistics service providers (LSPs). The management process of innovation creation and adaptation can deliver LSP a competitive advantage which allows them to get, to keep and to grow a customer. The purpose of this paper is to investigate how logistics innovations in general and logistics service innovations in particular (i.e. radical innovations) occur in LSP outsourcing relationships and which aspects may enhance innovation performance, whether radical or incremental service improvements. Preliminary field research results’ conducted among US LSPs will be presented.
