    The study presents the results of team-based, interdisciplinary comparative research on young learners’ life plans and choices – students of full-time academic pedagogy courses and future teachers in selected Central and Eastern European countries. In their life planning model, students considered specific properties of designing and implementing plans: the degree of orientation towards goals, telic orientation, richness of life contents, productivity, social orientation, and emotional and motivational involvement. Our research also met the most important preliminary conditions for data comparability – conceptual, statistical, and interpretative. The comparison of the declarations of students from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Ukraine reveals significant differences in all preferred life goals, except for a life that commands respect and is pursued under moral values.

    The desire to be able to live more comfortably, much easier and in pleasant way makes kitsch easily permeate into life. Kitsh start shaping choices and is responsible for people’s thinking about themselves and their future. It would not be so dangerous if they would exist unchallenged patterns and valid norms that men could be referred to them if necessary. Even in the last century, unchanging values one could find in the school, family life, science or art. However, much has changed in the twenty-first century. The rank and impartiality of science were questioned. Art – attracted by chance of easy popularity, was seduced by kitsch. Unattractive school pedagogy together with a family are in a constant crisis. It make kitsch easier to find comfortable nestle in young heads. The consequences do not let you wait. There appears to be lowering the requirements, resignation from the effort of development. It start to be interesting to settle for a smaller and what is undemanding. When we thinking about the future, we choose life strategies „lined” with the kitsch and perpetuating shoddy templates of achieving life goals.

    W artykule podjęto próbę analizy hierarchii aspiracji życiowych żołnierzy zawodowych w kontekście postawy wobec świata i ludzi, jaką jest wiara w grę o sumie zerowej. Aspiracje życiowe opisano w oparciu o teorię autodeterminacji stworzoną przez Grouzeta i współpracowników. Porządkuje ona cele życiowe w zależności od ich hierarchii w układzie dwuwymiarowym: cele zewnętrzne – wewnętrzne oraz aspiracje nakierowane na potrzeby fizyczne – potrzeby duchowe. Pojęcie gry o sumie zerowej jako innowacyjny konstrukt zostało wprowadzone do nauk społecznych przez Wojciszke i Baryłę jako niezależna od kontekstu przesłanka pozwalająca interpretować ludzkie zachowania. Badaniem objęto 90 żołnierzy Polskich Sił Powietrznych. Opisano prezentowane przez tę grupę zawodową cele życiowe jako perspektywę przyszłych dążeń oraz wskazano, czy grupa żołnierzy prezentuje współpracującą czy też antagonistyczną postawę wobec innych. Wyniki badań wskazują, że żołnierze zawodowi przejawiają aspiracje zorientowane na cele wewnętrzne oraz prowadzące do przekraczania siebie, pozostające w opozycji do celów hedonistycznych. Analizy wykazały również zależność między badanymi konstruktami, która potwierdza wyniki otrzymane w badaniach międzykulturowych.
    The article attempts to analyze the hierarchy of life aspirations of professional soldiers in the context of their attitude towards the world and people, which is the belief in a zero-sum game. Life aspirations were described on the basis of the self-determination theory described by Grouzet et al. Life goals are ordered in a two-dimensional system: extrinsic–intrinsic goals and aspirations aimed at physical health and self-transcendence needs. The concept of zero-sum game as an innovative construct was introduced into social sciences by Wojciszke and Baryła as a context-independent indication for interpret human behavior. The study covered 90 soldiers of the Polish Air Force. The life goals presented by this professional group were described as a perspective of future aspirations, and it was indicated whether a group of soldiers presented a cooperative or antagonistic attitude towards others. According to the results, soldiers have an intrinsic and self-transcendent aspiration, in opposition to hedonistic goals. The research confirms dependencies obtained in intercultural research.

    “One planet, one main goal: good life for all”: it could be a motto of sustainable world. Sustainability is global mega trend in all fields of life to promote prosperity protecting our planet. Sustainable development is a requirement and a priority for all people all over the world. It is defined as development of the current world with a view to the future generations. In 2015, the UN Member States established Agenda 2030, including seventeen “Sustainable Development Goals”, SDG, which should be realized by 2030. Objectives scope all areas of life, namely quality of human life, ecosystem, world peace or partnerships. Each goal has an environmental context. According to the “United Nations Environment Program” (UNEP), Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a perfect method in the context of the environmental dimensions of the SDGs. The concept not only concerns the effects of the process/production system or the product/service but also all stages of its life (from cradle to grave), considering the carbon, environmental, consumer or biodiversity footprints. LCA is the only comprehensive eco-innovation indicator and policy implementation technique of sustainable development in companies in terms of eco-efficiency and eco-products. This mini review provides a survey of the current state of knowledge on sustainability and sustainable development as well as the relevance of new holistic methodology bridging SDGs with LCA, on the base of the newest scientific worldwide literature.

    The aim of the research was to establish the relationship between the socio-cultural gender of the surveyed women and their most important life goals that they would like to achieve in the future. Some of the empirical material from the research project ‘The role of fertility assumptions in shaping procreation intentions’ was used for the conducted analyses, which were carried out on a representative sample of full-time students at the University of Zielona Góra. The analysis of the students’ declarations regarding the five most important life goals that they would like to achieve in the future showed statistically significant differences between women in terms of their socio-cultural gender in the case of six out of twelve goals – being with a loved one, achieving professional success, traveling, having a child, having a group of friends and getting married. In addition, it was found that gender significantly differentiates the coexistence of goals traditionally associated with femininity in the declarations of female students, as well as the coexistence of goals traditionally associated with masculinity.
    Celem badań było ustalenie związku pomiędzy płcią społeczno-kulturową badanych kobiet a ich najważniejszymi celami życiowymi, które chciały zrealizować w przyszłości. Do przeprowadzonych analiz wykorzystano część materiału empirycznego z projektu naukowego „Rola założeń dotyczących płodności w kształtowaniu się intencji prokreacyjnych”, który został zrealizowany na reprezentatywnej próbie studentek studiów stacjonarnych Uniwersytetu Zielonogórskiego. Analiza deklaracji studentek dotyczących pięciu najważniejszych celów życiowych, które chciałyby zrealizować w przyszłości, wykazała na istotne statystycznie różnice pomiędzy kobietami ze względu na ich płeć społeczno-kulturową w przypadku sześciu z dwunastu celów – bycie z ukochaną osobą, osiągnięcie sukcesu zawodowego, podróżowanie, posiadanie dziecka, posiadanie grona przyjaciół oraz wyjście za mąż. Dodatkowo ustalono, że płeć społeczno-kulturowa różnicuje istotnie statystycznie współwystępowanie w deklaracjach studiujących kobiet zarówno celów przypisanych tradycyjnie do kobiecości, jak i współwystępowanie celów tradycyjnie związanych z męskością.

    Wartości jako materialne oraz niematerialne cenności dla człowieka lub grupy ludzi stanowią podstawowy element rzeczywistości społecznej, w której człowiek wzrasta i kształtuje się jako istota społeczna. Obecnie w literaturze przedmiotu często mówi się o kryzysie wartości, współistnieniu wielu równorzędnych, wzajemnie się wykluczających wartości, jak również permisywizmie wartości. Artykuł podejmuje próbę ukazania systemu wartości uczniów klas ósmych szkół podstawowych. Chodzi o odpowiedź na pytanie, czy wartości układają się w jakieś bardziej ogólne modele i jakie są to modele? Badanie było realizowane za pomocą autorskiego kwestionariusza ankiety internetowej (CAWI) wypełnianego audytoryjnie w dniach 1.10.2018 r. – 12.01.2019 r. Badaną próbę stanowiło 70 185 uczniów z terenu Polski. Następnie respondenci zostali odlosowani do reprezentatywnej, w skali kraju, liczby 8530 uczniów, spośród których ósmioklasiści reprezentowani byli przez 1986 respondentów.  Wyniki badań pozwalają stwierdzić, że główne cele życiowe respondentów układają się w zhierarchizowany system wartości, wyznaczany poprzez takie cechy jak płeć, sytuacja materialna rodziny, stopień zaangażowania religijnego, wielkość miejscowości zamieszkania. Ponadto cele życiowe badanych można sprowadzić do mniejszej liczby grup, które można nazwać grupami wartości. Zatem w systemie ważnych wartości młodego pokolenia funkcjonują wartości etyczne, konsumpcyjno-materialne, hedonistyczne, ale także rodzinne, socjocentryczne i społecznie pożądane, religijne i perfekcjonistyczno-witalne.
    Values as tangible and non-tangible valuables for a man or for a group of people constitute the basic element of social reality, in which a person grows up and is formed as a social being. Currently the subject literature frequently refers to a crisis of values, co-existence of many equivalent, mutually exclusive values, as well as to the permissiveness of values. The article is an attempt at presenting the system of values in eighth-form primary school students. It is about answering the question whether the values are arranged in certain more general models and what sort of models are these? The study was performed with the use of an original online questionnaire  (CAWI) completed in an auditorium between 1st October 2018 and 12th January 2019. The examined trial group (array) consisted of 70 185 school students from the area of Poland. Then the respondents were voted-off to the number, which is representative in the scale of the country—8530 students, from among whom the eighth-formers were represented by 1986 respondents. The study results allow to find that the main aims in the lives of the respondents are arranged in a hierarchy of values, determined by such features as gender, the family’s financial  situation, degree of religious commitment, size of the place of residence. Besiders, the living goals of the examinees  can be reduced to a smaller number of groups that can be called the groups of values. Thus, in the system of values important for the young generation there are ethical, consumerist-material and hedonist values, but also family, socio-metrical, socially desirable, religious and perfectionist-vital values.

    Przedmiotem artykułu jest problem ograniczeń rozwoju współczesnej cywilizacji technicznej oraz społeczno-ekonomicznej. Autor polemizuje z tezą o szybkim postępie społeczno ekonomicznym, która ma charakteryzować cywilizację na przełomie XX i XXI wieku. Uważa, że w ostatnich latach nastąpiło wyraźne wyhamowanie procesów rewolucji naukowo -technicznej a sama organizacja życia społeczno gospodarczego jest niedostosowana do wyzwań XXI w; w niektórych przypadkach, zmiany oznaczają regres. W złych rozwiązaniach systemowych upatruje główną przyczynę kryzysów finansowych i gospodarczych lat 2008–2011. Jeśli nie zmieni się system organizacji życia społeczno- ekonomicznego, obecnej cywilizacji grozi niebezpieczeństwo jej upadku, podobnie jak to miało miejsce w przypadku niektórych cywilizacji antycznych. Autor wskazuje również główne niekonsekwencje w rozwiązaniach systemowych organizacji społeczeństw oraz proponuje wybranie pewnych kierunków działań, które – jego zdaniem – mogłyby się przyczynić do usunięcia istniejących patologii.
    The issue of the article is the problem of limitations in the development of modern technical civilization. The author contradicts the thesis about rapid socio-economic progress, which is to characterize civilization at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. Believes that in recent years there has been a marked slowdown in the processes of scientific and technical revolution, and the very organization of socio-economic life is unsuited to the challenges of the 21st century; in some cases, changes mean regression. In poor systemic solutions, he sees the main cause of financial and economic crises in 2008–2011. If the system of organizing the social economic life does not change, the current civilization is in danger of its collapse, as was the case with some ancient civilizations. The author also points out the main inconsistencies in the system solutions of societal organizations and suggests choosing certain directions of action, which – in his opinion – could contribute to the removal of existing pathologies.

    The economic contributions made by immigrants in American history have been well documented; however, few empirical studies have provided information on how Mexican and Korean business owners in the U.S. could have different business ownership motives and goals that influence their business success. Using data from the National Minority Business Owners Surveys, this study explored the effect of ownership motives and family goals on business success and family life satisfaction among those two immigrant groups. The findings indicate that Mexican immigrant family business owners reported higher levels of family life satisfaction than the Korean counterparts, while most of the other ownership motives are quite similar. Implications of research findings are discussed along with future research agenda.
    Mimo że wkład gospodarczy, jaki imigranci wnieśli w historię Ameryki, został dobrze udokumentowany, to jednak niewiele badań empirycznych dostarcza informacji na temat tego, na ile meksykańscy i koreańscy właściciele firm w Stanach Zjednoczonych mogą mieć różne motywy i cele związane z posiadaniem firmy, które wpływają na sukces prowadzonej przez nich działalności gospodarczej. Korzystając z danych pochodzących z badań wśród przedstawicieli mniejszości narodowych będących właścicielami firm (National Minority Business Owners Survey), przeanalizowano wpływ motywacji właścicieli firm i celów rodzinnych na sukces prowadzonej działalności gospodarczej i zadowolenie z życia rodzinnego tych grup imigrantów. Wyniki badania wskazują, że właściciele firm rodzinnych będący imigrantami z Meksyku wykazywali wyższy poziom zadowolenia z życia rodzinnego w porównaniu z koreańskimi właścicielami firm rodzinnych, podczas gdy motywacja dotycząca posiadania firmy była podobna w obu grupach imigrantów. W artykule omówiono implikacje płynące z wyników badania oraz przedstawiono plan przyszłych badań.

    Wszelkie oddziaływania wychowawcze wiążą się według S. Kunowskiego z „ukształtowaniem prawidłowej postawy wychowanka wobec przyszłego życia”, a więc przygotowaniem się do lepszego życia poprzez naukę, zdobycie zawodu, znalezienie własnego miejsca w społeczeństwie i założenie własnej zdrowej i trwałej rodziny. Funkcjonowanie w świecie i dokonywanie wyborów ułatwiają mu analiza ciągle zmieniającej się rzeczywistości i jej interpretowanie. Istotne jest to, jak młody człowiek postrzega świat i swoje szanse na przyszłość. Orientacja pozytywna, traktowana jako podstawowa tendencja do zauważania i przywiązywania wagi do pozytywnych aspektów doświadczeń i samego siebie, to postawa, która jest niezwykle pomocna w budowaniu i realizowaniu planów. Podstawowym założeniem koncepcji jest przekonanie, że takie postrzeganie świata, siebie i przyszłości świadczy o podstawowej predyspozycji człowieka do radzenia sobie w życiu, pomimo przeciwności, problemów i porażek. W pierwszej części artykułu zostały omówione wybrane koncepcje zachowań celowych, przedstawiające aktywność adolescentów w kategorii celów stawianych sobie przez podmiot oraz teoria orientacji pozytywnej. W drugiej części artykułu są zaprezentowane wyniki badań nad orientacją pozytywną i celami życiowymi wychowanków Młodzieżowych Ośrodkach Wychowawczych w Polsce.
    Any pedagogical measures are to “shape the right attitude of wards towards their future life.” Thus they are to prepare them for a better life through education, acquiring professional skills, finding a place in society, as well as starting a healthy and lasting family. It is easier to be a part of the world and make choices if a person is able to analyse the ever-changing reality and to interpret it. It is crucial how a young man perceives the world and their chances for the future. What helps to develop and implement one’s plans is positive orientation. It is a basic predisposition to notice and attach weight to positive aspects of one’s experience and oneself. The concept assumes that a positive perception of the world, oneself, and the future reflects the fundamental human predisposition to cope with life against all the odds, difficulties, and failures. The first part of the paper focuses on the theory of positive orientation and selected concepts of purposeful behaviour, while showing human action as goals set by a person. The second part of the paper presents the research findings on positive orientation and life goals of wards of the Youth Educational Centres in Poland.

    The article is devoted to the sources of sustainable development goals on the example of the toposis of life stimuli in the medieval literary text Izbornik Svytoslava 1076. The topos of Christian restraint and poverty, health, well-being, education, upbringing, gender equality, and management are highlighted and grounded. These toposas correspond to the goals of sustainable development.

    Values and Life Fears of Academic YouthIn every social group people are aware of what is good, precious and right, they desireor avoid certain things, seek something, value some ‘objects’ over others. It is intheir youth that individuals try to organize their vision of life, oft en while experiencingtwo contradicting values. People as refl ective beings has always asked questionsabout the sense of their choices and actions, value of words and deeds, passing andlasting values. Th e intensity of these questions is especially high in time of enteringadulthood, as well as in diffi cult times and during experiences of suff ering, loss, injustice,incomprehension and threat which force individuals to confront their valuesystems. Th rough this we acquire wisdom, resistance and maturity. Similar crises ofvalues seem necessary for proper development of a person. Th is article attempts topinpoint life aims and goals (life values) and life fears of academic youth.

    Generally speaking, young people in Poland do not reject religion. The vast majority of youth declare themselves to be believers. Their faith, however, is characterized by subjectivity and selectiveness. Situationism is a trait of the Polish young generation. They make their choices dependent on something… Gaining a good education, a good job and starting a family are important life goals for young people. The youth of the 21st century are called “the youth without wings”. Those young people do not have any great ideals. They are not attracted by high values of a changing the world, they do not aim at establishing a better social system. The youth of the 90’s used to set up non-governmental organizations, they took up social activity in the third sector. The young people of the 21st century comprise a generation focusing on their own future. It is not a struggling generation but rather one evading or minimizing their activity in spheres which do not bring them direct benefits. Whatever is not practical, needed for today, is discarded.

    This paper presents a study on the significance of adolescent’s value system in creating concept about their own life in the process of planning their own future. A hypothetical model of this concept is analysed, which identifies such main components as: preferred life style, life goals and plans, and decisions concerning their own future. This model acknowledges values as the main criterion in creating this concept as they form the base for defining a person’s preferred life style, their formulation of life goals and plans and the undertaking of important decisions concerning their future (Czerwińska-Jasiewicz, 2005). The propounded author’s own model of adolescents’ concepts about their own future has been based on the notion of J. Piaget (Inhelder, Piaget, 1970), concerning adolescents creating a “programme” of their own life, as a specific developmental task during adolescence. The statement that the “programme" of adolescents’ own lives is based on a given value scale on which certain ideals and goals can be placed above others seems particularly significant in this concept. The discussion presented herein is based on the above statement. The creation by me of the above model was further inspired by the theoretical concepts and the research programmes concerning the future orientation of adolescents, their goals and life plans and values (Nuttin, 1980; Niemczyński, 1980, 1988; Nurmi, 1991; Matusewicz, 1975; Mądrzycki, 1996; Zaleski, 1991; Trempała, 1996, 2000).

    Opis:
    The question of identity is discussed by way of characterising seven styles of permanent conduct according to a selected formula and rule of presence in interhuman life. One speaks here also about games for identity, that is efforts to gain this permanence of conduct. The styles have been chosen that contain the idea of mission-function. The styles and games concerning identity have been discussed: a fundamentalist, a revolutionist, a counter-revolutionist, a hunter for murders, a scholar, a writer, and a clown. It has been pointed what each of them chooses, and what each of them rejects despite being in identity. Finally, the thesis has been justified: the game for identity is a series of decisions, and the choice of the formula of identity is the choice of a matrix of values and goals and the matrix of ways and means.
