Opis:
It has been proposed that a novel maglev transport system uses both of the attractive force and thrust force of the Linear Induction Motor (LIM). In our proposal, these two forces will be controlled by two different frequency components. One of the frequency components is synchronous with the motor speed (fm). Another frequency component is drive frequency (fd). Our proposed system enables the independent and simultaneous control of the attractive and thrust force of LIM. Each value of the attractive and the thrust force generated by fm and fd must be identified in order to design that LIM control system. For these purpose, a disc-shaped LIM has been developed as an experimental equipment. The force profiles, especially around zero slip, have been analyzed under experimental conditions.

The guide of the Hyperloop system in the paper is mathematically represented as a continuous system along which the force from the capsule travels, with the capsule in turn represented as a discrete system. The simulations discussed in the article were used to determine the displacements of the magnet elements. ANSYS software was used to perform the simulations using finite element calculations (FEM). The stability of the capsule will be determined from the results of the displacements present in the system. Taking into account the existing conditions in the magnet and guide assembly system, the simulation results were used to analyse stability in technical and stochastic terms (Lyapunov criteria) for non-linear systems. In the technical stochastic stability analysis, the transverse displacements of the electromagnets were used. The probability of unstable Hyperloop motion was then calculated.

The levitation melting has a potentially wide range of applications, especially in the processing of reactive metals whose contact with the crucible material causes their contamination and damage to the crucible itself. Despite its advantages, levitation melting, already proposed in the 1920s, has not yet found significant use in industrial conditions. This is due to the nature of the electromagnetic field used in previously developed devices. The disappearance of this field in the system axis causes overcoming, in the case of larger charges, surface tension forces and metal leakage from the device. The article contains a comparative analysis of a conventional solution and a newly developed levitation melting device, whose completely different design eliminates the previous weight limit of the charge.

Very high air traffic density in the largest airports and in their vicinity involves that the air traffic in the largest airports and their areas of operations approaches the capacity limits. Such high density of the air traffic adversely influences the natural environment in the vicinity of the airports due to the increasing cumulative noise level and the concentration of environmentally hazardous substances. One of the possibilities to improve the situation is to work out innovative solutions aimed at decreasing the aircraft pollution and improving the transport effectiveness. One of the major concepts is using magnetic levitation (MAGLEV) technology to support aircraft take-off and landing. If the aircraft could take-off and start the initial climb phase with the ground power, the installed power may be reduced, resulting in less weight, less drag and less overall fuel consumption which leads to emission reduction. These advantages, the lower fuel consumption and emissions, increase sustainability of the transportation system. Different conditions of the take-off give possibilities to shape the trajectory after the take-off in order to decrease the negative influence on the environment. The aim of the present work was to determine the optimal conditions of the take-off and the optimal climb trajectory of the aircraft aided in the ground phase of the take-off by the system using the MAGLEV technology, minimizing the fuel consumption. The simplified algorithm of optimization of the flight trajectory was used in this work; it uses the method of approximation of the flight path by the third degree polynomial.

One of the possibilities to improve the situation is to work out innovative solutions aimed at decreasing of the aircraft pollution and improving the transport effectiveness. Among the most innovative ideas is the use of magnetic levitation to aid the take-off and landing of the transport aircraft. The use of the aiding system will bring a lot of benefits, however, regarding its innovative character and the problems connected with it, the idea can have been realized in a couple of years or even decades. The aim of this work was to carry out the analysis of the change to the required thrust of the transport aircraft in the take-off, landing and cruise using the system of magnetic levitation. Magnetic levitation or magnetic suspension is a method by which a body floats due to a special quality of magnets. The generated electromagnetic force is used to balance the weight of the object. The current work describes the ways of determining the weights of the main systems of the aircraft with classical construction solutions where the weight of the whole aircraft is estimated on the basis of the statistical methods. It allows determining the weights of all main systems of the aircraft and verifying the results using the known examples. Thanks to this approach, it could be possible to determine the modified aircraft weight more thoroughly, adding the changes in weights of the modified systems.

Opis:
The hybrid actuator presented in this article is meant to enable stationary and slow dynamic levitation in Maglev applications. The term 'hybrid' refers to the design of the actuator, which is a combination of permanent magnets (PM) and electromagnets. This paper presents an analytically computable control algorithm for the said hybrid actuator. The theory of magnetic circuits is summarized shortly and used to derive a cascaded control loop consisting of an inner current controller and an outer air gap controller. Since the uncontrolled hybrid actuator is inherently unstable, the system has to be stabilized. By introducing a PID-controller into the air gap control loop, the unstable behaviour of the uncontrolled system is changed into the system behaviour of a damped harmonic oscillator. The advantage of this approach is that the computed controller parameters of the PID-controller can easily be adjusted, so the system behaviour of damping and eigenfrequency can be selected within a certain range. For the execution of the control algorithm, a microcontroller (MCU) is used and for precise air gap measurement, an eddy current sensor is installed. Finally, the behaviour of the current- and air gap controller is discussed for different measurement results and the adjustable system behaviour of the damped harmonic oscillator is presented.

Opis:
This paper presents an enhanced internal model control (EIMC) scheme for a time-delayed second order unstable process, which is subjected to exogenous disturbance and model variations. Even though the conventional internal model control (IMC) can provide an asymptotic tracking response with desired stability margins, the major limitation of conventional IMC is that it cannot be applied for an unstable system because a small exogenous disturbance can trigger the control signal to grow unbounded. Hence, modifying the conventional IMC structure to guarantee the internal stability, we present an EIMC scheme which can offer better trade-off between setpoint tracking and disturbance rejection characteristics. To improve the load disturbance rejection characteristics and attenuate the effect of sensor noise, we solve the selection of controller gains as an H∞ optimization problem. One of the key aspects of the EIMC scheme is that the robustness of the closed loop system can be tuned via a single tuning parameter. The performance of the EIMC scheme is experimentally assessed on a magnetic levitation plant for reference tracking application. Experimental results substantiate that the EIMC scheme can effectively counteract the inherent time delay in the model and offer precise tracking, even in the presence of exogenous disturbance. Moreover, by comparing the trajectory tracking performance of EIMC with that of the proportional integral velocity (PIV) controller through cumulative power spectral density (CPSD) of the tracking error, we show that the EIMC can offer better low frequency servo response with minimal vibrations.

Opis:
Computer simulations of a number of journal bearing’s geometries utilising acoustic levitation were carried out. The choice of the best geometry depended on the ability of a deformed shape, created by piezo-electric elements, to facilitate squeeze film ultrasonic levitation, and also to create three evenly distributed diverging aerodynamic gaps. Deformations of analysed variants of the bearing’s shape were generated by numerical simulations utilising the finite element method. For the chosen shapes of geometry, prototype bearings were made and their usefulness verified experimentally. As a result, the bearing with the highest load carrying capacity was identified.

The literature describes acoustic levitation phenomena with the utilization of air squeeze film between the vibrating inducer and the lifted object. The objective of the study is to determine the shape of the inducer with vibration characteristics that would allow the levitation of an object of the assumed geometry. In this paper, the influence of the dimension ratio of the inducer on the frequency of the first mode of vibration was presented. CFD calculations for a selected dimension series were performed with the goal of the determination of lifting conditions. The data obtained from the analysis will be used to manufacture an inducer that will serve as an experimental verification for the fluid dynamics calculation.

The paper presents study of a pseudo-magnetic levitation system (pseudo-maglev) dedicated for energy harvesting. The idea rely on motion of a pseudo-levitating magnet in a coil’s terminal. The study based on real prototype harvester system, which in the pendulum dynamic vibration absorber is applied. For some parameters, the stability loss caused by the period doubling bifurcation is detected. The coexistence of two stable solutions, one of which is much better for energy harvesting is observed. The influence of the pseudo-maglev parameters on the recovered current and stability of the periodic solutions is presented in detail. The obtained results show, that the best energy recovery occurs for the high pseudo-maglev stiffness and close to the coil resistance. The amplitude’s excitation, the load resistances and the coupling coefficient strongly influence on the system’s response.

One of the possibilities to improve the situation is to work out innovative solutions aimed at decreasing of the aircraft pollution and improving the transport effectiveness. Among the most innovative ideas is the use of magnetic levitation (MAGLEV) to aid the take-off and landing of the transport aircraft. The “Integrated Ground and on-Board system for Support of the Aircraft Safe Take-off and Landing” – GABRIEL, deals with radically new integration of the MAGLEV technology into the air transportation system that contains aircraft, airport, air traffic control, authority, logistic and operational support, maintenance, etc. GABRIEL idea includes operation of the aircraft without the conventional undercarriage system and using the ground based power and supporting systems for take-offs and landings. In case of using the GABRIEL system as a catapult, the aircraft on the track must be accelerated to the speed permitting to reach the altitude of 300 m or more. Such take-off and climb results in minimum noise and minimal emission of substances harmful for the environment. After reaching the altitude of 300 m, the aircraft may follow its flight with using different flight strategies. Different conditions of the unconventional take-off needs to shape other way the trajectory of the initial stage of the aircraft flight after the lift-off. The aim of the present work was to determine the optimal conditions of the lift-off and the optimal trajectory of the initial climb minimizing the emission. Simplified realization of the Ritz- Galerkin method was used in this work, which uses an approximate solution to boundary value problems for determining the optimal flight trajectory.

Opis:
The Lyapunov redesign method is basically used for robust stabilization of nonlinear systems with an affine structure. In this paper, for the first time, by suggestion of a simple but effective idea, this approach is developed for robust stabilization of non-affine quadratic polynomial systems in the presence of uncertainties and external disturbances. In the proposed method, according to the upper bound of an uncertain term, a quadratic polynomial is constructed and with respect to the position of the roots of this polynomial, the additional feedback law is designed for robustness of the quadratic polynomial system. The proposed technique is also used for robust stabilizing of a magnetic ball levitation system. When the coil current is the control input of the magnetic ball levitation system, equations of this system are increasingly nonlinear with respect to control input and have quadratic polynomial structure. The effectiveness of the proposed control law is also demonstrated through computer simulations.
