Opis:
Opracowanie odpowiedniej strategii wobec personelu oraz dobór metod i technik zarządzania uwzględniających specyfikę świadczonych usług i wymagania odbiorców to jeden z istotnych czynników powodzenia strategii marketingowej.
There are two models of organization design and management: control model and involvement model. The production-line approach to managing people is based on the control model, whereas empowerment is based on the involvement model. Empowerment can take place on several levels: suggestion involvement, job involvement, and high involvement. Empowerment can bring a number of benefits, including: improved service quality, better customer service, higher employee satisfaction, higher customer satisfaction and loyalty, increased revenues and profitability for the firm. However, empowerment increases costs of the organization. Recruitment, training, and motivating of service employees require higher costs and more time. There is also a risk of higher variability of services which might result in different levels of service quality negatively affecting customer satisfaction. Thus, the decisions on the extent of empowering service personnel require consideration of the service characteristics, service delivery process, customers' needs, skills of employees, organizational culture, as well as the costs and benefits of empowerment.

Opis:
Family involvement in education is highlighted as a key factor to boost students’ success. In this paper, we analyze ninth-graders’ discourses on how they see family participation in school-related activities. data derive from 38 biographical interviews involving students from eight public schools from North Portugal. Following a narrative approach, findings emphasize that active involvement of parents make up a fundamental dimension for the consolidation of educational projects. data reveal that mothers play a leader role in the educational setting, while fathers’ lack of participation can impact negatively on students’ trajectories. In addition, research indicates that an extended family can emerge as crucial to the maintenance of a schooling project.

Opis:
Cutaneous and soft tissue involvement is a very rare manifestation of multiple myeloma. We are describing a woman with the huge multiple plasma cells infiltrations of the soft tissues and the skin of the right shoulder and the arm that had occurred 2.5 years after the diagnosis of multiple myeloma. In the case of the described patient there is a distinct correlation between the appearance of the nodular lesions in soft tissues and the underlying osteolytic changes found in the skeleton. We assumed that the fracture of the right humerus in the past was the beginning of the plasma cells dissemination in the adherent tissues. The skin changes in our patient appeared in the advanced stage of multiple myeloma. There was only transient improvement of cutaneous changes after the chemotherapy, despite the complete remission of the underlying disease in the bone marrow. Despite of the intensive treatment (chemotherapy, radiotherapy) the patient died 7 months after the first appearance of the skin changes.

Opis:
There is already a wide acceptance on the importance of involving supplier and customer companies in product development. Decent understanding prevails on the relationshiporiented approach to product development including various collaboration forms. However, there is less research on the factors explaining the decision of attending to joint product development. In addition, less studies have examined the integrated role of both suppliers and customers in product development initiatives. This study searches answers to the following research questions: 1. What is the role of different actors in product development initiatives? 2. What factors motivate suppliers and customers to participate in product development? The research is carried out as an in-depth qualitative single case study in a large project manufacturing company. It takes the perspective of a focal company striving for product improvements. The first part of the empirical study consists of 15 semi-structured interviews. The second part includes two discursive workshops and builds upon the results of the interviews. This study contributes to the existing research by explaining the challenges and conditions facilitating joint product development with supplier and purchaser companies. The results highlight the role of customers in improving the effectiveness of product development. As a practical contribution, the paper reports the application of workshop method as a facilitator of collaboration between supplier, purchaser (focal company) and customer companies.

This paper presents a case study from Hungary about the “Nagykunságért” LEADER Local Action Group, which demonstrates the limits of an actor’s involvement in local rural development. Project participation in this region depends on the financial and managerial capacity of participants. Actors with capacity are involved with the project as a matter of course, but those without capacity are crowded out and lack access to resources. Actors in rural development are characterised by their ability to disseminate diverse kinds of information and use of knowledge. Inclusion, exclusion, and the power of local oligarchies are main concepts in this paper, which studies LEADER as a tool which may be used either for democracy or against local democratic control over the distribution of development funds.

Opis:
In phone-ins on morning radio programs one can observe the presence of different ritual means which enable the host and the caller to build a rapport. These conversations are created for an overhearing audience, i.e. listeners at home who expect that the host will address the callers in a friendly and informal way. However, all radio talks are dependent on the institutional context of broadcasting and necessarily include specific features typical of formal talk. The author of the article claims that the 'friendly on-air chat' has, in spite of many demonstrations of intimacy between the hosts and the callers, a clearly professional character and shows how the hosts use the elements of high-involvement style to create the effect of bonding with the audience.

The development of civil society in Poland was one of the goals of the political transformation in 1989. Since then, Polish interest in social issues has grown, although not to the extent expected, not fully realizing its potential. Since 2015, compared to previous years, there seems to be an increasing willingness among Poles to engage in social matters, evident through protest movements and demonstrations, and after 2022, also through involvement in humanitarian aid for refugees from Ukraine. To present the dynamics, evaluate, and outline a forecast for the development of Polish civil society, the article starts by presenting the evolution of the concept and its significance for democracy. It also highlights practical manifestations of civil society functioning. Drawing on statistical research conducted by CBOS and GUS regarding the social engagement of Poles, as well as Elżbieta Korolczuk’s article on the nature of contemporary civil society in Poland, the article analyzes trends and changes in the activation of Poles, pointing out areas of greatest interest. The paper also presents challenges faced by contemporary civil society to effectively outline potential directions of its development.

Opis:
Crowdfunding appears to be an innovative way of fundraising various projects. Although it is a relatively new and unique way of financing, competition for potential backers increases every year. While recent works have explored the role of engagement and involvement in crowdfunding, there is still a lack of understanding of how creators can stimulate backers’ activity. Therefore the aim of this paper is to identify and classify the methods used for crowdfunding by the top creators to boost and maintain backer engagement. Drawing from the Theoretical Model of Customer Engagement and Theory of Intrinsically Motivating Instruction, we propose a theoretical model that is backer engagement-based. It presents the unique role of involvement and participation in engagement and its interrelationship with value and community involvement. We investigate the top 30 most funded campaigns on Kickstarter in the tabletop games category. Based on our cross-case study, we identify and categorise tactics that create engagement-friendly environments. Our findings suggest that over time creators tend to focus on shorter but more dynamic campaigns with the higher engagement of backers. The creators of the best campaigns use similar tactics that affect both engagement and involvement. The important but often ignored factor that influences engagement is social interaction.
