Opis:
This paper presents the design of a thrust controller for a ramjet engine. The mathematical model for controller synthesis is based on a numerical solution of a set of nonlinear equations. Transfer functions of the engine are found for certain operation points defined by the altitude, Mach number and angle of attack. Local controllers are developed by using H∞ control methodology, finally reduced to proportional-integral (PI) controllers. For gain scheduling, linear interpolation of parameters of the local PI controllers is used. Next, simulations are performed in order to show performances of the presented control algorithm.

Badania docelowe wykonane zostały w układzie rzeczywistym, gdzie algorytmy sterowania wyznaczone metodą emulacji, zaprogramowane zostały w mikrokontrolerze sygnałowym TMS320F28335, wykorzystanym do automatycznego sterowania poziomem wody w dolnym zbiorniku.
The paper presents the comparative analysis made between the two state regulators and PID controller, based on an assessment of response time water level control in a cascade of two tanks. Object control system is nonlinear and consists of a pump, the two tanks connected in cascade, and sensors for measuring the water level in the tanks. Details of which have been analyzed controller design method. The first controller is the state of optimal LQR controller for which analytical formulas are derived to calculate the optimal values of gains, while the next is designed by Ackerman and pole placement method. The PID controller was designed also by pole placement method. Simulation study was carried out using the computational environment MATLAB/Simulink. Target tests were performed in a real time system, where the control algorithms set by the emulation method was programmed in digital signal processor TMS320F28335 deployed to automatically control the water level in the bottom tank.

The paper presents issues related to the application of filtered integral sliding mode control to a two-mass drive system. A classical control structure has been presented and its design procedure is shown in detail. The properties of the classical structure, in which the chattering phenomenon seems to be a big drawback, have been summarized. In order to eliminate this phenomenon, an output low-pass filter has been proposed and the performance of this system has been tested. In order to improve its characteristics, an adaptive low-pass filter has been proposed. The bandwidth of the filter was changed on-line by the fuzzy system according to the current state of the plant. During the steady-states, the bandwidth is low to eliminate chattering effect, and during transients higher in order to ensure the fast dynamics of the plant.

Opis:
The pressurizer water level control system in nuclear power plant with pressurized water reactor (PWR) is responsible for coolant mass balance. The main control goal is to stabilize the water level at a reference value and to suppress the effect of time-varying disturbances (e.g. coolant leakage in primary circuit pipeline system). In the process of PWR power plant operation incorrect water level may disturb pressure control or may cause damage to electric heaters which could threaten plant security and stability. In modern reactors standard PID controllers are used to control water level in a pressurizer. This paper describes the performance of state feedback integral controller (SFIC) with reduced-order Luenberger state observer designed for water level control in a pressurizer and compares it to the standard PID controller. All steps from modeling of a pressurizer through control design to implementation and simulation testing in Matlab/Simulink environment are detailed in the paper.

Opis:
An averaging tank with variable filling is a nonlinear multidimensional system and can thus be considered a complex control system. General control objectives of such object include ensuring stability, zero steady-state error, and achieving simultaneously shortest possible settling time and minimal overshoot. The main purpose of this research work was the modeling and synthesis of three control systems for an averaging tank. In order to achieve the intended purpose, in the first step, a mathematical model of the control system was derived. The model was adapted to the form required to design two out of three planned control systems by linearization and reduction of its dimensions, resulting in two system variants. A multivariable proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control system for the averaging tank was developed using optimization for tuning PID controllers. State feedback and output feedback with an integral action control system for the considered control system was designed using a linear-quadratic regulator (LQR) and optimization of weights. A fuzzy control system was designed using the Mamdani inference system. The developed control systems were tested using theMATLAB environment. Finally, the simulation results for each control algorithm (and their variants) were compared and their performance was assessed, as well as the effects of optimization in the case of PID and integral control (IC) systems.

Opis:
Continuous processes in the plastics, textile paper and other industries, require several drives working in synchronism. The aim of this paper is to control speed of the multi motors system, and to maintain a constant mechanical tension between the rollers of the system. Several controllers are considerer, including Proportional-Integral (PI) and sliding-mode control (SMC). Since the PI control method can be applied easily and is widely known, it has an important place in control applications. But this method is insensitive to parameter changes. The advantage of an SMC is its robustness and ability to handle the non-linear behaviour of the system, and is indicated in comparison with traditional proportional-integral (P1) control scheme. Theoretical analysis and simulation results are provided to evaluate the consistency and performances of this control technique (SMC).

Opis:
This article deals with modelling and a flatness-based robust trajectory tracking scheme for a two degrees of freedom helicopter, which is subject to four types of tail rotor disturbances to validate the control scheme robustness. A mathematical model of the system, its differential flatness and a differential parametrization are obtained. The flat filtering control is designed for the system control with a partially known model, assuming the non-modelled dynamics and the external disturbances (specially the tail rotor ones) to be rejected by means of an extended state model (ultra-local model). Numerical and experimental assessments are carried out on a characterized prototype whose yaw angle (ψ), given by the z axis, is in free form, while the pitch angle (θ), which results from rotation about the y axis, is mechanically restricted. The proposed controller performance is tested through a set of experiments in trajectory tracking tasks with different disturbances in the tail rotor, showing robust behaviour for the different disturbances. Besides, a comparison study against a widely used controller of LQR type is carried out, in which the proposed controller achieves better results, as illustrated by a performance index.

In a nuclear power plant with a pressurized water reactor, a pressurizer has two tasks, pressure control in the primary circuit and coolant water level control. In the paper there is considered a pressure control system of the pressurizer which is responsible for control of pressure in the primary circuit at the setting value. It guarantees safe operation of the reactor (avoids boiling) and maintaining appropriate operating parameters in the secondary circuit. In this case it is reasonable to use a linear model for the synthesis of the control system. In the paper there is analysed the applicability of state feedback integral control of pressure in the pressurizer. For the input-output model [1] there is proposed a model in the state space. The components of synthesis the control system are described. In the simulation study there was examined the impact of time-varying disturbances on the control quality. The first section presents the motivation of research and general information about the primary circuit of a nuclear power plant with a pressurized water reactor. The next section contains a description f the modeled system, i.e. the pressurizer, and the references to other solutions of the pressure control issue. The third section is devoted to the description, construction and implementation of the pressurizer mathematical model in Matlab/Simulink. The next section contains the description of synthesis of the control system with state feedback and integral action. The fifth section deals with implementation, computer simulation studies and analysis of results. The last section presents the summary of the work. The obtained results show the relevance and compliance of the designed control structure with reality. The designed system realizes the tasks assumed.

Opis:
In this paper, integral sliding mode control ideas are combined with direct control allocation in order to create a fault tolerant control scheme. Traditional integral sliding mode control can directly handle actuator faults; however, it cannot do so with actuator failures. Therefore, a mechanism needs to be adopted to distribute the control effort amongst the remaining functioning actuators in cases of faults or failures, so that an acceptable level of closed-loop performance can be retained. This paper considers the possibility of introducing fault tolerance even if fault or failure information is not provided to the control strategy. To demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed scheme, a high fidelity nonlinear model of a large civil aircraft is considered in the simulations in the presence of wind, gusts and sensor noise.

The control system described by Urysohn type integral equation is considered where the system is nonlinear with respect to the phase vector and is affine with respect to the control vector. The control functions are chosen from the closed ball of the space Lq(Ω; ℝm), q > 1, with radius r and centered at the origin. The trajectory of the system is defined as p-integrable multivariable function from the space Lp(Ω; ℝn), (1/q) + (1/p) = 1, satisfying the system’s equation almost everywhere. It is shown that the system’s trajectories are robust with respect to the fast consumption of the remaining control resource. Applying this result it is proved that every trajectory can be approximated by the trajectory obtained by full consumption of the total control resource.

Opis:
This paper investigates the formation control problem of multiple agents. The formation control is founded on leader-following approaches. The method of integral sliding mode control is adopted to achieve formation maneuvers of the agents based on the concept of graph theory. Since the agents are subject to uncertainties, the uncertainties also challenge the formation-control design. Under a mild assumption that the uncertainties have an unknown bound, the technique of nonlinear disturbance observer is utilized to tackle the issue. According to a given communication topology, formation stability conditions are investigated by the observer-based integral sliding mode formation control. From the perspective of Lyapunov, not only is the formation stability guaranteed, but the desired formation of the agents is also realized. Finally, some simulation results are presented to show the feasibility and validity of the proposed control scheme through a multi-agent platform.

The paper concerns a new view on the problem of integral control in the context of nonlinear uncertain systems. It is demonstrated that a standard integral action applied to the linear control system with so-called load disturbances, can be generalized to comprise a class of linearly parameterized nonlinear SISO systems with functional uncertainty. In this case the integral action is turned out to be in fact an adaptation law of unknown parameters. It has been found that the obtained proportional-integral controller's variable gains are the basis functions of the system unknown nonlinearity approximator.

This paper deals with infinite horizon optimal control problems, which are formulated in weighted Sobolev spaces ... [wzór] and weighted Lp-spaces ... [wzór]. We ask for the consequences of the interpretation of the integral within the objective as a Lebesgue or an improper Riemann integral. In order to justify the use of both types of integrals, various applications of infinite horizon problems are presented. We provide examples showing that lower semicontinuity may fail for objectives involving Lebesgue as well as improper Riemann integrals. Further we prove a lower semicontinuity theorem for an objective with Lebesgue integral under more restrictive growth conditions on the integrand.

Establishing the proper values of controller parameters is the most important thing to design in active queue management (AQM) for achieving excellent performance in handling network congestion. For example, the first well known AQM, the random early detection (RED) method, has a lack of proper parameter values to perform under most the network conditions. This paper applies a Nelder-Mead simplex method based on the integral of time-weighted absolute error (ITAE) for a proportional integral (PI) controller using active queue management (AQM). A TCP flow and PI AQM system were analyzed with a control theory approach. A numerical optimization algorithm based on the ITAE index was run with Matlab/Simulink tools to find the controller parameters with PI tuned by Hollot (PI) as initial parameter input. Compared with PI and PI tuned by Ustebay (PIU) via experimental simulation in Network Simulator Version 2 (NS2) in five scenario network conditions, our proposed method was more robust. It provided stable performance to handle congestion in a dynamic network.
