Opis:
Changing a problem’s representation is a crucial process when solving insight problems. Recently, Laukkonen and Tangen (2017) found that observing ambiguous figures such as a Necker Cube before solving problems can increase insight frequency. In our research, we extended their procedure by including measures of feelings of insight (e.g., confidence and pleasure). This approach allowed us to test the replicability of relationships between perceptual switching and insight frequency in terms of both accuracy of problem solutions and insight phenomenology. The research took the form of two studies using two different samples (NA = 68 and NB = 198) using online platforms. Our results consistently showed no effect of prior Necker cube perception on accuracy. However, we found a significant difference in self-reported insight (1 - non-aha! experience to 5 – a very strong aha! experience) in our Sample B study. The results suggest the possibility that viewing ambiguous figures may not have a triggering effect on insight problem-solving performance but that it may trigger stronger insight experiences when solving insight problems.

Opis:
Humans are known to be able to solve problems creatively, but how exactly this occurs is still a matter of debate. Insight problem solving is one important way to study creativity in adults, but studies that use this method with preschool children are rare. In this paper, we present two studies: one in which the problem is solved with known objects (participants were preschool children aged 4 to 7 years) and one in which new objects were created (participants were children aged 5 to 6 years and adults). For both studies, results are discussed in relation to the various processes that can explain insight problem solving. We argue that the integration of these processes under the overarching variability–stability–flexibility pattern might be a better way to investigate insight and ultimately to understand innovation.

The achievement of the non-dual state has its own development process, which consists experience of the non-dual state, stabilise it and then development of it. Outline of development process is contained in the Path o Insight and relies on exceeding of subjective-objective divisibility. It isperceived as an effect of the ignorance of true nature of the individual. The achievement of the non-dual state, that is nature of the mind (tib. sems nyid) constitutes the purpose of the Path of Insight and it is described by concept-symbol called mahamudra.

Opis:
Objectives: Responses to policy initiatives of citizens and organisations often differ from those expected by policy designers. The article offers an analytical framework for holistic mapping of mechanisms driving policy addressees’ behaviours. Research design & methods: Article uses systematic literature review of policy design and behavioural insights studies to develop the framework. The framework is then empirically tested in a case study of a policy implemented in 2015 by the government of Poland to address the problem of obesity in school children. Methods include in-depth interviews with adults parents, school principals, canteen staff, surveys, and focus groups with parents and teenagers, ethnographic observations in school canteens. Findings: The empirical test proved the utility of the analytical framework in identifying flaws in policy design. Framework helped: (1) articulating an overall theory of change of regulation; (2) reframing the policy issue in behavioural terms, i.e., stating who, how, and in what context did not comply, and (3) identifying reasons for non-compliance related to capacity, motivation and opportunities of the policy subjects. Implications / Recommendations: The article proposes that policy designers should work as behaviour architects in order to design more effective public policies and avoid policy failures. They should consider mechanisms facilitating or hampering expected behaviours of policy addressees. Contribution / Value added: This article contributes to the theory and practice of policy design. It operationalises determinants of policy compliance from the perspective of applied behavioural science. It helps public policy scholars and practitioners to think systematically about policy subjects’ behaviours, decisions, and their determinants when analysing and designing policy solution.

Opis:
New species of ostracods from the Tremadocian in the northwest region of Argentina are described. These are among the earliest well−documented records of ostracods, which shed new light onto the early diversification of the group. The described fauna consists of seven species, five of which are new: Saltite uchuy sp. nov., Saltite kuraq sp. nov., Conchoprimitia? iglesiasi sp. nov., Orechina violetae sp. nov., and Orechina catalinae sp. nov. The fauna consists primarily of soanellids, a non−dimorphic family of palaeocopids, and of binodicopids. One factor leading to diversification of the group in this region may have been the complex configuration of the northwest basin, which had a restricted pattern of circulation. The distribution of the first ostracods is largely restricted to Gondwana and peri−Gondwana regions. Accordingly, it is possible to envision that the origin or at least an important radiation of the group was centred in this region. Both the Soanellidae and the genus Orechina would have originated in Gondwana and would have become widespread later during the Middle Ordovician. The Tremadocian fauna located in Argentina show significant affinities with fauna located in the warm−water setting of the east Gondwana, mainly in Australia and China.

Research background: Today, it is an m-commerce platform that provides brands with the opportunity to foster their sustainable image and communicate with environmentally and socially conscious consumers. Proper communication that respects the customer's interests, conducted through mobile marketing tools, can be a key to creating a competitive advantage. Therefore, it is essential, at the level of scientific research, to broaden the knowledge base in the field of consumer behavior. Purpose of the article: The research was aimed at assessing ten purchasing behavior constructs in terms of gender and generation characteristics, as well as inferring impact on and assessing the difference between generations (Generation X and Y) and gender in terms of purchasing behavior. Methods: The sample consisted of 765 Slovak respondents. The Wilcoxon Test was used for differences testing. Partial Least Squares - Path Modeling (PLS-PM) was used to determine the general impact and the permutations-based method was used to assess the difference in impact between gender and generation characteristics. Findings & value added: The difference in purchasing behavior patterns between the categories of gender and generation was significant in most cases, with the most significant difference being seen in the Visual Appeal of an e-shop. The most striking general influences were recorded between Hedonic Browsing and Urge to Buy, also the impact of Portability on Hedonic Browsing and Utilitarian Browsing. These findings indicate the potential of retailers to communicate effectively with their customers not only about products, but also about sustainable practices and values while engaging consumers in purchasing processes. Proper optimization of marketing processes, in terms of impulsive and thought-through purchases too, positively influences the user experience and the satisfaction with the purchase process. These facts may positively influence the sale and, in a broader perspective, increase the competitiveness and overall value of the e-commerce entity. It is also worth emphasizing the long-term value for the customer, as the application of the model leads to better satisfaction of customer needs, thus to a stable growth not only of the organizations, but ultimately of the economy as a whole.

This article presents the process of constructing and validating the Polish version of the Remote Associates Test (RAT-PL). The test consists of 17 items of three words that are remotely associated with the solution (fourth word). This test has high reliability and moderate difficulty. As expected, the results of RAT-PL were positively associa- ted with intelligence, questionnaire measures of intuitive processing as well as with openness to ideas and values. However, when controlling for intelligence and intuition in the regression analysis, relationships with openness were not statistically significant. The RAT-PL can be a valuable tool for Polish researchers who study intuition, insight and creativity

Rational Theatre

Opis:
The following article is an attempt at looking at the modern appropriations of Shakespeare’s King Lear’s story in two British plays: Edward Bond’s Lear (1971) and Howard Barker’s Seven Lears (1989). Both dates signify the first stage premieres of the plays in question: Bond’s play was first opened at the Royal Court Theatre, London and Barker’s play was opened October at Sheffield Crucible. Both plays explicitly relate to King Lear’s story by their titles and both are recognized as the best-known and most powerful dramatic reworkings of the Lear story. Although both playwrights place themselves within two disparate theatrical traditions: Rational Theatre (Bond) and The Theatre of Cruelty (Barker), they are noted for their political allusions. Yet the primary concern of the following article will be to see to what extent is the “myth” of Lear modified in two modern versions. To achieve this effect the author of the article will closely look at the spatial arrangement, time scheme, plot development, story line, character presentation and values, as well as some major themes. Also Lear as the main character will be shown in its various roles and relations: as a loving father, a king, a leader, a madman and a tragic figure.

Opis:
This text’s main objective is to introduce the assumptions of the Jungian depth psychology to the bibliotherapeutic process. Bibliotherapy as an interdisciplinary method using psychology and literary studies enriched with the theory of integral psychology formulates a new theoretical perspective and constitutes a proposition of holistic view of bibliotherapy. The extension of the theoretical basis of bibliotherapy will help to augment the therapeutic effect, activate the unconscious (the sphere neglected in school education), and strengthen psyche. Integral bibliotherapy shall create conditions to expand the dialogue between the rational side and unconscious one, and it will contribute to a positive stimulation of the integration processes. Providing archetypal patterns reflecting the rules of life in culture, and drawing attention to the regulatory role of literary works, will enrich both the intellectual and spiritual side of the development of the participant of the bibliotherapeutic process. Archetypal content present in literary texts studied by the participant according to the bibliotherapeutic procedure will achieve an integral orientation focused on the humanistic dimension of existence.
