Opis:
This paper presents a formalised description of the models of influence propagation in social networks introduced in the classic paper of Kempe et al. The formal framework that we propose clarifies the structure of the most popular propagation models and helps rigorously re-establish the essential results concerning the problem of influence maximisation. We also introduce new models of propagation and show how they fit into the general picture. In particular, we focus on models that capture either positive or negative effects of resisting influence on individual’s future resistance.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to determine the activities of different countries in the context of the Syrian conflict. Methods: The following research methods and techniques have proven to be useful: starting material analysis, cause-effect analysis, scientific observation. Results: An analysis of the available literature has shown that the Russian Federation has refrained from direct participation in the war in Syria since the beginning of the war. First, it supplied arms and ammunition to Syria to support the Assad regime, and in Damascus and other areas, Russian trainers were deployed to support Assad’s war efforts. But in the fall of 2015, when Assad’s government forces were severely weakened, Russia began to implement direct and open military support on the scale of a world power with global ambitions. Conclusions: The political-military measures of the Russian Federation had enormous destabilizing effects on the entire region of the Middle East. The strategic interests of many countries in the region are under threat, and the Russian Federation has become and will continue to be an important player in the Middle East. Russia’s engagement in Syria is part of the Russian Federation’s multifaceted policy aimed at achieving various objectives. The Russian operation in Syria is Russia’s return to the Middle East Games as an important military and political player with the aim of strengthening its own position and weakening the position of the United States. With its military actions in Syria, Russia has reaffirmed its influence in the Middle East region.

The aniele presents linguistic strategies of persuasive influence in youth magazines. Persuasive methods employed by teenage magazi les are based on social influence mechanisms. Their form and course were adapted to the specifics of communication in the press medium and to the characteristics of the target reader. These magazines use the rules of social influence, which are the most effective tools o f persuasion, the presence of which the teenager will neither ąuestion nor reject. These methods avoid direct pressure, using willingly morę subtle persuasive mechani >ms. They work via the rule of authority, the rule of social proof, the rule o f scarcty combined with the rule o f liking, thanks to which the methods address the teenager’s needs, transferring those attitudes, opinions and value Systems, which are to be imprinted and accepted.

Opis:
Aim of the present research was to apply a solid state reaction route to fabricate Aurivillius-type ceramics described with the formula Bi6Fe2Ti3O18 (BFTO) and reveal the influence of processing conditions on its crystal structure. Pressureless sintering in ambient air was employed and the sintering temperatures were 850 and 1080 °C. It was found that the fabricated BFTO ceramics were multiphase ones. They consisted of two Bim+1Fem-3Ti3O3m+3 phases, namely the phase with m=5 (i.e. the stoichiometric phase) and m=4 (i.e. the phase with a reduced number of layers in the slab). Detailed X-ray diffraction patterns analysis showed that both phases adopted the same orthorhombic structure described with Fmm2 (42) space group. The ratio of weight fractions of the constituent phases (m=5): (m=4) was ~30:70.

In the globalized world, international communication seems particularly important in the context of the planning and conduct of foreign policy. Apart from traditional forms of interaction such as diplomacy, economy or military means, it is also important to have an impact on the culture and values of other societies. One of the tools for this service is the media and institutions involved in building social bonds, disseminating knowledge about a given country or its language. Depending on the state, these elements may be more or less effectively used in foreign policy. The case of the People’s Republic of China, with its aspirations to the global power, and the current system of power, seems to be a particularly interesting and therefore is the purpose of this study.

The article is devoted to an attempt to present a biographical approach in pedagogical research, taking into account not only exploratory but also therapeutic functions of narrative interviews. The reflections focus of looking for the answer to the question: whether and to what extent telling a story of one’s life (especially marked by traumatic experiences) may contribute to integrating the past and the present, increasing self-awareness, and thus (re-)constructing the narrator’s identity? I ask a question about the conditions to be met in order for the narrator to realize the limitations posed by the past and next to overcome the crisis by pointing out the main motives of action, epiphanies, crises, or breakthrough moments.

Opis:
The literature shows that researchers used a wide variety of types of guilt manipulation. A common feature of these studies was that the subjects were not able to doubt their guilt. Additionally, these methods did not take into account the psychometric measurement of this emotion, as well as the possibility of simultaneously inducing other feelings, such as sadness or anger. In a carefully designed experiments, we found a method that is approachable to arrange, which additionally seems to be free from these methodological flaws. In our study participants were shown an arranged message suggesting that the experimenter’s work has been destroyed. In experiment 1 (N = 44), we showed that the method proposed by us significantly affects guilt. In experiment 2 (N = 89), we replicated our result, additionally demonstrating that our procedure significantly affected only the emotion of guilt (compared to other emotions) - which is a novelty. It also has been shown that complying with the request of the victim (conditional forgiveness) makes us feel less guilty, but it does not restore liking to this person - which was established by previous research. The discussion section summarizes the results, indicates their limitations, and proposes directions for future research.

This article presents the problem of determining the gas concentration under conditions of changing temperatures. The solution to this problem is based on spectral measurements using chemometric models. Such problems arise when measuring gases during various industrial processes, mainly the pyrolysis process. Chemometric models are built using synthetic calibration data. Line-by-line and statistical models were applied for spectra modelling. The effect of temperature on extracting the gas concentration from spectra of various resolutions was determined. Next, the global model was built and tested using calibration data for specific temperature ranges. The properties of the linear and nonlinear partial least-squares (PLS) models that were applied to the considered issues were demonstrated. CO and CH4 were used as example gases.

The paper focuses on issues of the influence regulation in organizational teams. Lewin's Field Theory (1951) and Kozusznik's deinfluentization (DEI) concept (Kożusznik, 1996, 2005) serve as a theoretical basis for the explanation of influence regulation. The aim of our research is to present how the gener- ational affiliation differentiate the perception of the influence in the organizational teams. The sample consist of 975 employees from 250 randomly selected Polish organizations in various industries. Results of statistical analysis confirmed differences in the location of the influence source between employees of different ages. The diagnosis of generational differences in influence perception might be helpful for managing employees in mixed-age teams.

Opis:
In discussions of cross-linguistic influence (also known as language transfer), the focus is usually on the influence of a particular structure in a particular instance of language contact, for instance, the negative transfer of serial verbs by Vietnamese learners of English: She has managed to rise the kite fly over the tallest building (Helms-Park, 2003). Even so, as Helms-Park acknowledges, serial verb constructions can and do surface in contact situations besides the one she studied in Canada, and they can involve speakers of different languages. While serial verb constructions have unique syntactic traits, the same point about the transferability of multiword constructions in different contact settings is applicable in other instances and with collocations that can be viewed as unique in their lexical as well as syntactic characteristics. The following article considers such a case, based in part on my own teaching experience but also on transfer research from other settings as well. After a discussion of a collocation that I call the repeated other pattern found in different settings, I briefly consider other cases of transfer having lexical and syntactic peculiarities and appearing in more than one contact situation. There will also be some discussion of factors that transfer researchers and language teachers would do well to consider.

There are ample facts that the whole world is facing an ecological crisis by reason of heavy deforestation. Thus, this study assesses the influence of deforestation on some selected villages in Borgu Local Government Area, Niger State. Data were collected from members of the community using a set of structured questionnaire. This was then analyzed using descriptive statistics (percentages and frequency count). Findings reveal that the major occupation is trading (33.3%), followed by farming (30%). The causes of deforestation in the study area include: fuelwood removal (31.7%), urbanization (25.0), logging (20.0%), subsistence farming (15.8%), population growth and overpopulation (3.3%), commercial farming (2.5%) and inequitable distribution of wealth and power (1.7%). Global warming (31.7%) was the major effect generated by deforestation in the study area, followed by soil erosion (24.2%). Encouragement of better agroforestry practices (30.8%) was seen as the major strategy for reducing deforestation by the respondents. Other best practices include: afforestation (27.5%), public enlightenment (13.3%), enforcement of forest land and policy (12.5%), forest education (8.3%), forest conservation and preservation (7.5%).

Dialogue studies suggest keys to understanding communicative behavior. The purpose of this article is to put forth a more complex and comprehensive approach to the analysis of interaction that incorporates quantitative metrics to reveal its entire communicative depth. The methods of discourse-analysis, initiative-response analysis, a theory of speech acts, conversational, cognitive, stylistic, statistical analyses as well as descriptive and interpretative methods have been united in one system to interpret the procedure and results of the cooperative and conflict dialogues chosen as an example. The integrated methodology produces a broader investigative view of communication, also because it allows measuring the level of dominance of interlocutors and explaining it in terms of power relations. In this way, it contributes to a better understanding of the multifaceted nature of dialogue without any characteristics to be underestimated. The methodology is an open system and is suggested as a sample of dialogical communication research.

The paper attempts to present theoretical considerations on the problem of using synaesthesia as a new tool in marketing communication. The author demonstrates the prospects for sensory communication’s development – especially its influence on customer’s perception. Using sensory branding methodologies is surely a big challenge for marketing managers, but on the other hand the ethical dimension of communication which appeals to our five senses is controversial. The paper discusses the areas that are affected by manipulation. The main problem is that it could be impossible to use sensory communication in ethical and effective way in the same time.
