    A ring $R$ is called a J(n)-ring if there exists a natural number $n \geq 1$ such that for each element $r \in R$ the equality $r^{n+1} = r$ holds and a weakly J(n)-ring if there exists a natural number $n \geq 1$ such that for each element $r \in R$ the equalities $r^{n+1} = r$ or $r^{n+1} = -r$ hold. We completely describe both classes of these rings R for any n, thus considerably extending some well-known results in the subject, especially that of V. Perić in Publ. Inst. Math. Beograd (1983) as well as, in particular, the classical description of Boolean rings when n = 1.

    Opis:
    For a sequence $(A_j)$ of mutually orthogonal projections in a Banach space, we discuss all possible limits of the sums $S_n = ∑^n_{j=1} A_j$ in a "strong" sense. Those limits turn out to be some special idempotent operators (unbounded, in general). In the case of X = L₂(Ω,μ), an arbitrary unbounded closed and densely defined operator A in X may be the μ-almost sure limit of $S_n$ (i.e. $S_{n}f → Af$ μ-a.e. for all f ∈ (A)).

    A brief history and a mathematical description of the dynamic projection operators technique is presented. An example of the general Cauchy problem for evolution equations in 1+ 1 dimensions is studied in detail. A boundary regime propagation is formulated in terms of operators and illustrated by the simplest one-dimensional diffusion equation. The problem of temperature waves is discussed.

    Varieties whose algebras have no idempotent element were characterized by B. Csákány by the property that no proper subalgebra of an algebra of such a variety is a congruence class. We simplify this result for permutable varieties and we give a local version of the theorem for varieties with nullary operations.

    Without the restriction of metrizability, topological dynamical systems $(X,⟨ T_s⟩_{s ∈ G})$ are defined and uniform recurrence and proximality are studied. Some well known results are generalized and some new results are obtained. In particular, a topological dynamical characterization of central sets in an arbitrary semigroup (G,+) is given and shown to be equivalent to the usual algebraic characterization.

    In this paper we consider the semigroup Mₙ of all monotone transformations on the chain Xₙ under the operation of composition of transformations. First we give a presentation of the semigroup Mₙ and some propositions connected with its structure. Also, we give a description and some properties of the class $J̃_{n-1}$ of all monotone transformations with rank n-1. After that we characterize the maximal subsemigroups of the semigroup Mₙ and the subsemigroups of Mₙ which are maximal in $J̃_{n-1}$.

    An element $e$ of an ordered semigroup S is called an ordered idempotent if e ≤ e². Here we characterize the subsemigroup $$ generated by the set of all ordered idempotents of a regular ordered semigroup S. If S is a regular ordered semigroup then $$ is also regular. If S is a regular ordered semigroup generated by its ordered idempotents then every ideal of S is generated as a subsemigroup by ordered idempotents.

    We introduce the concept of very true operator on a commutative basic algebra in a way analogous to that for fuzzy logics. We are motivated by the fact that commutative basic algebras form an algebraic axiomatization of certain non-associative fuzzy logics. We prove that every such operator is fully determined by a certain relatively complete sublattice provided its idempotency is assumed.

    Opis:
    A (usual) hypersubstitution of type τ is a function which takes each operation symbol of the type to a term of the type, of the same arity. The set of all hypersubstitutions of a fixed type τ forms a monoid under composition, and semigroup properties of this monoid have been studied by a number of authors. In particular, idempotent and regular elements, and the Green's relations, have been studied for type (n) by S.L. Wismath.
    A generalized hypersubstitution of type τ=(n) is a mapping σ which takes the n-ary operation symbol f to a term σ(f) which does not necessarily preserve the arity. Any such σ can be inductively extended to a map σ̂ on the set of all terms of type τ=(n), and any two such extensions can be composed in a natural way. Thus, the set $Hyp_{G}(n)$ of all generalized hypersubstitutions of type τ=(n) forms a monoid. In this paper we study the semigroup properties of $Hyp_{G}(n)$. In particular, we characterize the idempotent and regular generalized hypersubstitutions, and describe some classes under Green's relations of this monoid.
