Opis:
Applying a holistic, integrated and experiential approach, this paper analyses the culture of head, heart and hands learning as both a challenge and an imperative of contemporary educa-tion using the descriptive method based on a review of relevant literature. Self-determination, self-work, self-organization and self-management are emphasized along with different models of learning culture oriented towards student’s holistic development. In accordance with that the paper discusses issues related to the new organization of learning and teaching and the role of the teachers, students and school community. Specifi cally, many scientists believe (Henting, 1997; Bruner, 2000; Stoll & Fink, 2000; Faulstich, 1999) that high-quality and successful changes in education can be achieved by introducing a culture of learning which espouses the holism and integrity of human beings. Such changes are especially relevant in the context of lifelong learning which integrates all three domains of learning: cognitive (head), affective (heart) and practical (hands). In this way, cognitive, affective, experiential and active learning interests are fully expressed, which bears witness to the fact that people learn, think, feel and act differently.

Opis:
On the basis of research and the syllabi for mathematics and environmental education, which promote integrated teaching, a model of integrated teaching of mathematics and environmental education has been designed. 331 basic school second grade pupils participated in the experiment (163 pupils in the experimental group and 168 in the control group). The differences in the results were statistically significant after the second test, as compared to the control group, the experimental group performed better at all levels of TIMSS taxonomy. With this the importance of interdisciplinary integration or of holistic teaching, indispensable in the first years of schooling, was confirmed.

The article investigates some problems that foreign language teachers may face when working with young pupils. They include especially poor memory, difficulties of distinguishing similar sounds, understanding the relations of a letter and a sound, decoding single words and so on. Some learners with learning difficulties and disorders present even more challenges for their language teachers. Furthermore, the author provides guidance for teachers that may help to overcome these problems. Thus, it is hoped the present paper will contribute not only to a better understanding of the problem area of difficult learners, but will also encourage teachers to implement some new solutions in their regular lessons.

Holistic Approach to Learning
Opis:
This paper proposes an approach to verb-noun constructions that allows them to be understood holistically, which facilitates the acquisition of their distinctive features (for example, the presence or absence of an article) and their effective correlation with certain communicative functions and situations. Therefore, their use will not only be lexically and grammatically appropriate, but the apprentices will be able to make use of them as a whole acquired and associated with a certain communicative situation or function. As a result, their fluency will gain naturalness and will be closer to native.

Opis:
Integrative Gestalt pedagogy is a comprehensive pedagogy that based on Gestalt theory (-philosophy, -psychology, -therapy, -pedagogy), humanistic psychology and pedagogy. In the 1980s its holistic approach was used by Dr Albert Höfer to reform the concept of the Austrian religious education. Höfer succeeded in designing a complete Gestalt-pedagogical model of learning and teaching, whose uniqueness can be seen in its approaches that encourage student’s personal growth. In accordance with Jesus’s teaching it looks at students in a loving and caring way, talking to them in their everyday situations and opening them to religious experience and God’s working in their lives. This has been confirmed by empirical research.

Opis:
The article describes the history of a specific type of the University of the Third Age which was developed in Poland and spread out to other countries in the region. The author describes the genesis of this type of education as well as the criteria which governed changes in educational institutes for seniors. Above all, the article discusses the innovative solutions, education practices, and trends which initiated the post-2000 boom in adult education in Poland. The author summarizes and structures the experience gained while working as the Director of the University of the Third Age at the University of Wroclaw in years 2006–2016, with particular reference to the national and international perspective. Remarks of the reflexive practitioner are compared and contrasted with ultra-local trends and take the form of meta-analysis. The results lead to one fundamental conclusion – in Poland a specific model for the education of seniors was formed. We may describe it as bottom-up, democratic, holistic and flexible.

Opis:
W końcowej części tekstu omówione zostały założenia programowe edukacji holistycznej, zasady organizacji i sposób funkcjonowania, dobór treści kształcenia itp.
The article presents the author’s concept of the new organisation of education and a vision of school which is different from the currently binding one. The starting point for the project is the critique of the scientific and technical rationality on which the modernity of the instrumental reasoning, which is elementary in school education, was constructed. The change suggested by the writer is systemic. Its key element is the vision of a holistic school that supports pupils in their development respecting their autonomy and subjectivity. In the final part of the text the curriculum assumptions of the holistic education have been discussed as well as the organisational rules, the way of functioning and the choice of the learning contents, etc.

Its aim was to familiarize the participants with the process of introduction of a reform of education which had been initiated by the drafting of a document “Wales: the Learning Country”.
