Opis:
19 and 20 century morals guides written for persons in diverse life situations constitute a basis for the article presented. The decoding of the contemporary and historic meanings of engagement was attempted from that perspective. Pre-marital relationships would always constitute an important stage of transition. Their arranging initially depended on the senior members of families, with the feelings and opinions of the engaged hardly ever taken into account. Changes in the forms of establishing and functioning of relationships preceding marriage took place in the second half of the 20 century.

This article presents the results of empirical research on the labour market of city travel guides, regional guides and mountain guides as well as tour leaders. The aim of this article is to evaluate the demand for the services of travel guides and tour leaders. The study included tourism entrepreneurs and the method of a diagnostic survey with the use of computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) was applied. The obtained results confirmed the thesis that the labour market of travel guides and tour leaders is not stable and this is due to the seasonality, level of earnings and changing model of travel organization. The study also showed that in the five-year period from the deregulation of the professions, the market relations between travel guides and tour leaders on the one hand and tourism entrepreneurs on the other did not undergo fundamental changes. The results of the study may be useful for tour operators, organisations associating travel guides and tour leaders as well as for tourism administration at the central and regional level.

Peripheral nerve injuries are one of frequent cause of disability. Results of surgical procedures are not still completely satisfactory, though fast development of microsurgical technician improve their efficiency. One of the major problems in surgical treatment of the peripheral nerve injuries is ends coaptation in the case of large loss of nerve tissue. And so finding substitute implants not rejected by the organism for the recipient and providing with the success is necessary of regeneration. Recently, several synthetic nerve guide implants have been introduced and approved for clinical use to replace autologous transplants. This alternative therapy is based on pioneering studies with experimental nerve guides. This paper present a review of published studies involving biodegradable nerve guides.

W artykule przeanalizowano portret miasta Truskawiec jako znanego kurortu balneologicznego oglądanego przez pryzmat przewodników turystycznych i przewodników po ośrodkach uzdrowiskowych końca XIX – początku XX w. Autorami przewodników byli przeważnie doświadczeni lekarze-balneolodzy, rozwijający swoje praktyki w ciągu długiego okresu w Truskawcu. Z tej racji dysponowali oni obszerną i dokładną wiedzą dotyczącą leczniczej infrastruktury miasta. W tekście uwzględniono i zajęto się charakterystyką najważniejszych edycji przewodników. Zamieszczone w nich treści zawierały istotne informacje pozwalające na analizę wybranych aspektów mobilności społeczeństwa galicyjskiego końca XIX – początku XX w. Obok zagadnień związanych z przemieszczaniem się ludności rzucają one poniekąd światło na rozwój turystyki na terenach kraju.
The article analyses the image of the town Truskawiec as a famous balneological resort as seen from the perspective of tourist guides and health resort guides from the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The authors of the guides were usually experienced doctorsbalneologists, developing their practices over a long period of time in Truskawiec. For this reason they possessed considerable and through knowledge regarding the medical infrastructure of the town. The article focuses on the characteristic of the main editions of the guides, the contents of which include relevant information allowing the analysis of selected aspects of the mobility of the Galician society at the and of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Apart from the issues related to the translocation of population, they shed light on the development of tourism in the country.

The key aim of this article is to provide an interdisciplinary look at tourism and its diachronic textual threads bequeathed by the ‘proto-tourist’ texts of the Greek travel author Pausanias. Using the periegetic, travel texts from his voluminous Description of Greece (2nd century CE) as a springboard for our presentation, we intend to show how the textual strategies employed by Pausanias have been received and still remain at the core of contemporary series of travel guides first authored by Karl Baedeker (in the 19th century). After Baedeker, Pausanias’ textual travel tropes, as we will show, still inform the epistemology of modern-day tourism; the interaction of travel texts with travel information and distribution channels produces generic hybrids, and the ancient Greek travel authors have paved the way for the construction of networks, digital storytelling and global tourist platforms.

Artykuł prezentuje aspekty techniczne, które są istotne podczas wykonywania oraz projektowania zintegrowanych układów mikroprzepływowo-mikrofalowych. Zastosowanie techniki mikrofalowej w układach mikroprzepływowych otwiera nowe możliwości, które stanowią rozwiązanie części problemów występujących w układach mikroprzepływowych, takich jak wykorzystanie i dostarczanie energii cieplnej. Ponadto, mikrofale stanowią atrakcyjną alternatywę dla spotykanych obecnie metod charakteryzacji parametrów substancji umieszczonych w kanale mikroukładu. W związku z tym, przedstawiono typowe obszary zastosowań techniki mikrofalowej w modułach mikroprzepływowych. Opisano typowe podłoża, które są stosowane podczas wytwarzania wspomnianych układów, wraz z wyszczególnieniem ich cech charakterystycznych i porównaniem. Wskazano na korzyści płynące z zastosowania ceramiki LTCC (ang. Low temperature cofired ceramics, niskotemperaturowa ceramika współwypalana), jako materiału podłożowego pod układy mikroprzepływowo-mikrofalowe. Wyszczególniono możliwe do wykonania techniką LTCC typy prowadnic falowych wraz z odpowiednim położeniem mikrokanału w ceramicznym podłożu oraz dokonano krótkiego podsumowania.
This paper descries aspects, which are significant during the process of designing and developing of integrated microfluidic-microwave modules. The application of microwaves in microfluidic modules ensures the new possibilities, such as a providing a heat to the selected parts of a microsystem. Furthermore, the microwaves are the alternative solution of characterization of parameters the substance in the microchannel. Therefore, the usual fields of microwave technique in microfluidic modules are presented. The most used substrates in mentioned devices are described and compared. The benefits of using the LTCC as the substrate of microfluidic-microwave devices are indicated. Furthermore, the most common used wave guides integrated with the geometry of microchannels in LTCC modules are presented.

The aim of the article is to compare selected Internet guides for teachers and parents. The results of a comparative analysis made by the authors are as follows: institutional senders prevail in terms of a category of a guide’s sender; a creation of a reality shared by its sender and receiver takes place in the guides; the language of the guides is used mainly in the informative and persuasive functions; there is a clear tendency to exaggerate threats posed by the participation in the digital world at the cost of recognizing opportunities for development. The authors of the article conclude with the statement that the discourse of the analysed guides supports traditional approach to perceiving and upbringing of children and young people.

Infrastruktura turystyczna w Bieszczadach jest w miarę dobrze rozwinięta. Dawno już minęły czasy, kiedy jadąc w Bieszczady, trzeba było zabrać namiot i biwakować pod gołym niebem lub szukać miejsca „u gospodarza”. Choć nadal do dyspozycji jest szereg miejsc biwakowych, można odnaleźć tu również hotele dla gości przyzwyczajonych do wysokiego standardu. Duża liczba turystów odwiedzających Bieszczady spowodowała rozwinięcie sieci szlaków pieszych oraz oferty pobytowo-rekreacyjnej. Jednymi z najlepszych obserwatorów turystyki w Bieszczadach są przewodnicy beskidzcy, którzy pracując z grupami lub turystami indywidualnymi, mnóstwo czasu spędzają w obszarze badawczym i dlatego mogą profesjonalnie wyrazić swoje opinie i spostrzeżenia. Celem pracy było ukazanie i analiza infrastruktury turystycznej Bieszczadów. Opinię tę w autorskim kwestionariuszu ankiety przedstawili przewodnicy beskidzcy. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badania ankietowego, przeprowadzonego na grupie 100 przewodników beskidzkich, spośród których aż 60% miało ponaddwudziestoletni staż pracy w zawodzie. W pracy zastosowano również wyniki kwerendy literatury przedmiotowej. Respondenci stwierdzili, że liczba oraz jakość szlaków pieszych są na dość dobrym poziomie. Z kolei jakość i liczba szlaków konnych i rowerowych zostały ocenione na poziomie dostatecznym i dopuszczającym.
Tourist infrastructure in the Bieszczady Mountains is quite well developed. Still there are camp places, but a big number of good hotels/apartments have appeared lately. Tourist infrastructure in the Bieszczady Mountains has improved its offer and is getting better every year. Large number of tourists in Bieszczady influenced the region to develop networks of hiking trails, accommodation and recreational activities. The best observers of these changes are the Beskids Mountain guides. This group of people spend lot of time with tourists in the region and give their opinions and perceptions very professionally. The aim of the work was to present and analyze the tourist infrastructure of the Bieszczady Mountains. This opinion was presented by the Beskids guides in the author’s questionnaire survey. The work on the report was carried out using the author’s questionnaire on a group of 100 Beskids guides. These individuals are authorized and registered mountain guides with a minimum of 7 years’ experience. Additional subject literature was used to develop this report. Many experienced guides (more than 60%) had more than 20 years of experience in the study. They found that the quality and quantity of hiking trails is quite good. On the other hand, the quality and number of horse and bicycle trails is rather sufficient and acceptable. What is important and expected, according to the survey, interest of local authorities should be more intensive.

The article shows how the 'touch' concept is presented in culture and communication. This phenomenon has not been the subject of lingual studies yet, however it has been only a few articles about this. The sense of touch plays an important role in contemporary world. It comes to be the most important way to build doctor-patient relation. The purpose of this text is to show the material extracted from old medical guides (ninetieth/twentieth centuries) which presents ‘tactile’ communication between doctor and patient, techniques and ways of cure, describes the doctor-patient contact, and analysis of this material. Cognitive classification of speech acts was helpful in to show, which directive acts are present in old medical guides (e.g. prohibitions, commands, manual procedure). First of all there are obliging acts in the pragmalingual analysis. It is worth noting that in the material show directive acts too. These acts cause pressure to recipient and have to get to do something by him (e.g. a lot of prohibitions, commands and also manual procedure of touch of the patient).

In the interwar period about 50 different types of guides for librarians and bookselling guides were published in Poland. Many of them contained mainly advices on setting up libraries, organizing them and gathering collections, but both types contained information on selection of books in terms of their educational function. 1) The aim of the research is the presentation of selected guides issued in Poland in 1918-1939, which were addressed to employees of various types of libraries: public, school, parish, home, etc. and their lists of books and recommendations depending on the targeted reader. 2) Materials and methods: selection of guides, comparative method, literature analysis, bibliographic method. 3) Applications are the answers to the following questions: Were the reading recommendations in the analyzed manuals addressed only to the book professionals, as an aid in completing book collections and making reading choices, or to the readers as well? Which educational models were most important, to what extent they referred to the curricula in schools? Whether censorship was taking place (they included titles that should not be read), etc.?

Guides (linear plain bearings) of reciprocating motion are widely used in many areas of human activity. However, at present there are no reasonable methods for their calculation, in particular metal-polymer guides. The author's method of contact strength calculation of cylindrical metal-polymer sliding guides is presented in the article. The effect of load, bushing diameter and radial clearance on the maximum contact pressures and their distribution in the guide was studied on the example of epoxy-based polymer composite material Moglice of the German company DIAMANT Metallplastic GmbH, which is used to restore tribotechnical sliding systems elements. Quantitative and qualitative regularities of dependence of contact pressures on the accepted factors of influence are established: at loading increase four times the maximum contact pressures and contact angles will increase twice irrespective of change of sizes of a radial clearance and diameter of a base; increasing the base diameter leads to a directly proportional decrease in maximum contact pressures; doubling the radial clearance leads to a -fold increase in pressure, regardless of changes in the magnitude of the load and the diameter of the base. Regularities of change of contact parameters from the specified factors are given graphically.

Opis:
Water had a special cultural significance in human life. Water was a cheap and widely available resource for everyone. Water has fulfilled a wide variety of functions over the centuries. People even believed in the magical properties of water. The water also had a symbolic effect - it cleansed the body from sins. However, it was during this period in Western Europe that drinking water was considered harmful to health. In spite of this, in the 16th century the poorest peasants and monks who lived the harsh monastery life were drinking water in Poland, also the monarchs from the Jagiellonian dynasty, who were afraid of poison, drank water. However, the richer social strata drank beer or, more rarely, wine. It was believed that stagnant water (in reservoirs) was spreading epidemics. The authors of medical guides claimed that drinking such water could cause infertility, dysentery and other diseases. Only boiling the water was a way to improve its properties. To eliminate the smell they were adding garlic, salt, and vinegar, the Tartars brought from Asia the custom of adding so-called Tatar herb, later called calamus, and other herbs (eg. mint, sage) were also added to the water.
Woda od najdawniejszych czasów miała szczególne znaczenie kulturowe w życiu człowieka. Była tanim i dostępnym dla każdego dobrem. Przez wieki spełniała wiele funkcji. Ludzie wierzyli nawet w jej magiczne działanie. Miała też efekt symboliczny – oczyszczała ciało z grzechów. Jednak w omawianym okresie w zachodniej Europie zaczęto uważać, że picie wody jest szkodliwe dla zdrowia. Mimo takiej opinii w XVI w. wodę pitną w Polsce pili najbiedniejsi chłopi i mnisi żyjący w ciężkim rygorze klasztornym, ale też monarchowie z dynastii Jagiellonów, którzy obawiali się trucizny. Jednak bogatsze warstwy społeczne piły piwo lub rzadziej wino. Wierzono, że stojąca woda (w zbiornikach) rozprzestrzenia epidemie. Autorzy poradników medycznych twierdzili, że picie takiej wody może powodować bezpłodność, czerwonkę i inne choroby. Dopiero gotowanie wody było sposobem na poprawę jej właściwości. Aby wyeliminować nieprzyjemny zapach, dodawano czosnek, sól i ocet. Z Azji od Tatarów przybył zwyczaj dodawania tzw. zioła tatarskiego, zwanego później tatarakiem. Do wody dodawano również inne zioła (np. miętę, szałwię). Bardziej ceniona była woda płynąca („woda żywa”), gdyż uważano, że picie takiej wody jest zdrowsze.

Dobson, J. McDowell, M. Dziewiecki, A. Urbaniak, M. i P. Wołochowicz. Konkretną i szczegółową pomocą w procesie wychowania jest zwrócenie uwagi na rozwój miłości, wzrastanie w cnocie czystości i tworzenie sprzyjających warunków do życia zgodnego z wyznawaną wiarą. Informacja o treściach zawartych w poradnikach chrześcijańskich doradców może być przydatna dla osób odpowiedzialnych za wychowanie młodego pokolenia: rodziców, nauczycieli, katechetów, księży i pracowników duszpasterstwa rodzin.
Bringing up children is the first, basic, important, but also very difficult task of parents. Educational guides written by Christian advisers are a great help in bringing up children. The chapter presents the general principles of education formulated by Saint. Jan Chryzostom, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and such authors as R. Cambell, G. Chapman, J. Dobson, J. McDowell, M. Dziewiecki, A. Urbaniak, M. and P. Wołochowicz. A specific and detailed help in the process of upbringing is to pay attention to the development of love, the growth in the virtue of chastity and the creation of favorable living conditions in accordance with the faith. Information on the contents of the guides of Christian advisers may be useful for those responsible for raising the young generation: parents, teachers, catechists, priests and pastoral workers of families.

Opis:
Renaissance England in terms of the development of medicine did not differ much from medieval England. On the contrary, there was a significant return to ancient medical theories thanks to humanistic ideas. Rediscovered manuscripts were translated into flawless Latin. At that time, medical manuals started to be written and translated into English since many humanists decided to promote medical knowledge. The everincreasing interest in medicine led to a growing demand for popular books on medical advice. The author of the article reviews books of the regimina genre published in sixteenth-century England and discusses their contents.
Anglia doby renesansu pod względem rozwoju medycyny nie różniła się od Anglii średniowiecznej, a wręcz przeciwnie, nastąpił wówczas znaczący powrót do czasów starożytnych za sprawą idei humanistycznych. Manuskrypty zaczęto tłumaczyć na łacinę pozbawioną błędów i wypaczeń. Zaczęto także pisać i tłumaczyć poradniki medyczne na język angielski, ponieważ wielu humanistów decydowało się na propagowanie wiedzy medycznej. Stale rosnące zainteresowanie medycyną powodowało zwiększające się zapotrzebowanie na popularne książki z zakresu poradnictwa medycznego. Autor artykułu dokonuje przeglądu poradników medycznych wydawanych w XVI-wiecznej Anglii oraz przed-stawianych w nich treści.
