Opis:
The paper presents all topologies of statically determinate beams with arbitrary number of pin supports. The geometry of each beam with a fixed topology is optimized by a genetic algorithm, with absolute maximum moment as the objective function. An equality relation between minimum values of this function is defined on the set of all topologies as an equivalence relation. This relation partitions the set of topologies into equivalence classes, called topological classes, for uniform, linear and parabolic gravity loads. An in-depth description of these classes is provided. Exact formulas for optimal locations of supports and hinges are found for the uniform load.

Opis:
The paper deals with topological classes of statically determinate beams with an arbitrary number of pin supports. The beams carry piece-wisely distributed loads which are placed in such a way that bending moment values are extreme at any section. For such loads, it is sufficient to consider only two load cases with alternate spans uniformly loaded. Each beam with a fixed topology is subjected to geometrical optimization with the absolute maximum moment as the objective function. Exact formulas for optimal values of geometrical parameters are found for all topologies. An equality criterion between minimum values of the objective function is used as an equivalence relation. On the basis of this relation, the set of all topologies is divided into equivalence topological classes. Typical features of these classes are found and discussed.

Opis:
The reduction of fuel cost has always been one of the key strategic business goals for ship owners and operators. In the current climate of high oil prices, the reduction of fuel costs becomes essential; and furthermore a variety of recent legislations require owners and operators to move towards the reduction of emissions from ships of SOx, NOx and CO. Hence the pressure on designers to achieve both reduced fuel costs and reduced emissions by optimising the hull and propeller has never been higher. In parallel to the performance improvement of new built vessels, there has been great interest in the potential to enhance the performance of existing vessels through retrofit of devices to the hull. In any case for instance the WED device must be customized to fit to the afterbody of the ship in terms of performing its supposed function. The Designer is therefore placed in the front of multiple geometric solutions from between he has to make a choice. This paper is intended to help the Designers to have a rational choosing approach by involving the numeric optimization of the geometry of the WED in order to select the best fitted WED to perform the best in order to achieve some predefined parameters. In this paperwork a given geometry of a WED device is taken and via Design Optimization the geometry of the duct was refined so that better results are achieved with a smaller and more compact WED. In doing so, the Designer is assisted by numeric optimization methods to choose from only three final candidates instead of several thousands in order to provide the best fitted WED geometry for a given ship afterbody.

The article discusses ways for optimization of a standard nozzle cup design to achieve a narrower paint flow. The analysis of a standard nozzle cup shows that distribution of air pressure is critically uneven both along the nozzle axis and in the radial direction. A decrease in pressure is about 45% at the distance of 2 mm from the front surface of the nozzle cup. Air pressure decreases about 40% at the distance of 2 mm from the nozzle axis in the radial direction. Air velocity decreases about 52% at the distance of 4 mm from nozzle surface but then the velocity stabilizes and decreases is about 59% at the distance of 10 mm from the nozzle surface in comparison to its magnitude on the nozzle surface. Six extra holes and a circular rim were added to the standard nozzle cup to obtain paint stream as narrow as possible. Also was modified inner surface of the nuzzle cup. Totally, four different components were analysed. The results show that with increasing the nozzle cone by fifteen or more degrees, the pressure distribution decreases. Most optimal solution has six small holes around the nozzle hole and a small rim covering all holes. In this case, pressure decreases only 3% in the axial direction and 4% in the radial direction at the distance of 2 mmfrom the front surface of the nozzle. Distribution of air velocity is still significant but its magnitude is about 35% ... 45% less than at the standard nozzle cup.

Opis:
The numerous logistics problems occurring in power train and transport industry lead to wear of vehicles and trains as well as the road or tracks length. The choice of the proper transport requires selecting the kind of the optimum length of the way. For facilities for transport of bulk commodity, very important meaning has the distance between the place of outgoing (x) and delivery point (y). Such problem will be referring for the one, two and three spaces in the case of land transport for road and rail vehicles as well as sea and air transport for ships and airplane. It is desired that the transport from outgoing point (x) to delivery place (y) ought to be travelled on the shortest way in the presenting geometry sense. In transport, logistics denotes it the least distance between the place of the drive beginning (outgoing) and the place of drive end (delivering place). It is evident that the shortest distance between two points is always if we define this distance in Euclidean geometry sense because Euclidean metric determines the shortest distance between two points. In various transport problems the shortest distance in Euclidean sense, between two various places is not realistic and not possible. Therefore for transport vehicles exists many possibilities of various kinds of access road in Euclidean and non- Euclidean geometry. After Authors, suggestion very interesting is to find the optimum way or optimum track between the trip origin and delivery place. Such problem demands the more and more information referring the describing the tracks geometry using metric space theory. In this article, especially the non-Euclidean modulus Taxi–Car metrics is considered. Presented metric spaces and their properties are needed and applied in practical transport problems occurring among other in assembly rooms where the way of intelligent shortest truck must be considered. Moreover, in this article the various communication ways will be presented and will be suggested an algorithm construction of the optimum distance problem solutions in non-Euclidean geometry presenting the equivalent and simultaneously most simple communication tracks.

Opis:
Re-design of a given antenna structure for various substrates is a practically important issue yet non trivial, particularly for wideband and ultra-wideband antennas. In this work, a technique for expedited redesign of ultra-wideband antennas for various substrates is presented. The proposed approach is based on inverse surrogate modeling with the scaling model constructed for several reference designs that are optimized for selected values of the substrate permittivity. The surrogate is set up at the level of coarse-discretization EM simulation model of the antenna and, subsequently, corrected to provide prediction at the high-fidelity EM model level. The dimensions of the antenna scaled to any substrate permittivity within the region of validity of the surrogate are obtained instantly, without any additional EM simulation necessary. The proposed approach is demonstrated using an ultra-wideband monopole with the permittivity scaling range from 2.2 to 4.5. Numerical validation is supported by physical measurements of the fabricated prototypes of the re-designed antennas.

Opis:
The paper deals with the problem of kinematic synthesis of dwell linkage mechanisms which are based on the four-bar linkage with a coupler point that traces a curve with a straight-line part. It enables to obtain a dwell of the output link of the mechanism, but the main goal is to find such parameters of the mechanisms that hold the required conditions of the designer: necessary dwell time, to satisfy the necessary cyclogram of the machine with taking into account the number of additional parameters. The main problem is to carry out the kinematic synthesis of the basic straight-line linkage that can be done by the kinematic geometry methods. In this paper it was shown that the fivefold interpolation nodes of the coupler curve with the tangent line can be successfully used to satisfy the necessary criteria. As a result of the carried out studies, the regions of existence of such mechanism parameters were determined enabling to carry out an optimization procedure using different criteria.
