Opis:
The geomagnetic field (GMF) represents one of the major environmental factors which may suffer either natural or anthropogenic disturbances. According to available literature data, many plants species responds to GMF changes and its ab-normalities can adversely affect live organisms. The aim of the study was to investigate the influence of GMF deprivation on se-lected morphological and physiological parameters of maize vari-ety San (Zea mays L. cv. San). The examined parameters included germination capacity, seedling growth, fresh and dry weight, the water content and the level of disorganization of seedling cell membranes. The obtained results suggest that GMF deprivation caused a reduction of germination capacity of maize. Moreover, roots of seedlings growing under disturbed GMF conditions (GMF inten-sity approx. 12 μT) were significantly longer as compared to the control group (GMF intensity approx. 38–42 μT). Fresh weight, dry weight, and coleoptiles length showed no differences among the groups. However, significantly lower electrolyte leakage was observed in maize seedlings of the experimental group.

Opis:
In the paper, the variation of the intensity of the geomagnetic field force is analysed in time and space. For the research, the data from measurements of the intensity of the geomagnetic field force at four airports (Kaunas, Klaipéda, Palanga and Vilnius) and 6 geomagnetic field repeat stations as well as the data from Belsk Magnetometric Observatory (Poland) were used. For the data analysis, the theory of covariance functions was applied. The estimates of the cross-covariance functions of the measured intensity of the geomagnetic field force or the estimates of auto-covariance functions of single data were calculated according to the random functions created from the force intensity measurement data arrays. The estimates of covariance functions were calculated upon varying the quantization interval on the time scale and applying the software created using Matlab package of procedures. The impact of radars of airports on the intensity of geomagnetic field variation and on changes of their covariance functions was established.

Varying forms of solar radio burst were classified by their frequent changes in time, which are known as drift rate. There are 5 types of radio emission were named type I, II, III, IV and V. This paper is highlighted on the type III event which occurred on 27th August 2015. In the IP medium, type III solar radio burst can be classified in three different groups which representing three different situations of electron beam production and propagation which are isolated, complex and storm type III burst. The most powerful manifestation of solar activity is solar flare together with coronal mass ejections, eruptive prominences and the solar wind are the solar events which affect the earth's atmosphere and can cause geomagnetic disturbance. In this study, the effect of M class flare with solar radio burst type III was investigated. During the day, the solar wind proton density seems to be high which is 8.4 protons/cm3 and accompanied by normal solar wind speed of 348.7 km/Sec. Spaceweather.com reported that there is one sunspot was detected (AR2403) and M class of the flare was detected during the day at 0544 UT. The data geomagnetic signal shows that during the day only geomagnetic disturbance that occur no such geomagnetic storm since the sunspot not facing the earth directly.

The study is focused on the properties of the external natural source of magnetisation of the object under MMM examination and the impact of the magnetisation components. The precise data obtained from measurements of the Earth's geomagnetism (from ground stations and satellites) and the revised model of the Earth's magnetism can be applied in order to calibrate high sensitivity magnetic field sensors, validate the measurement results and extend the functional capacity of the MMM method.

Opis:
This paper presents a geomagnetic detection method for pipeline defects using complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with adaptive noise (CEEMDAN) and wavelet energy product (WEP) - Teager energy operator (TEO), which improves detection accuracy and defect identification ability as encountering strong inference noise. The measured signal is first subtly decomposed via CEEMDAN into a series of intrinsic mode functions (IMFs), which are then distinguished by the Hurst exponent to reconstruct the filtered signal. Subsequently, the scale signals are obtained by using gradient calculation and discrete wavelet transform and are then fused by using WEP. Finally, TEO is implemented to enhance defect signal amplitude, completing geomagnetic detection of pipeline defects. The simulation results created by magnetic dipole in a noisy environment, indoor experiment results and field testing results certify that the proposed method outperforms ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD)-gradient, EEMD-WEP-TEO, CEEMDAN-gradient in terms of detection deviation, peak side-lobe ratio (PSLR) and integrated side-lobe ratio (ISLR).

In 2006, the verification surface surveys and geomagnetic prospection were carried out on Neolithic and Bronze Age sites in Wiśnicz and Rożnów Foothills. These sites were discovered in the course of AZP action in the early 90s the last century. The research were undertaken in order to obtain further information on the source potential and character of the settlement. For geomagnetic prospection 15 sites were selected. As a result of the research it was possible to significantly increase the amount of the Early and Older Bronze Age, which are fairly rare in the Carpathians. Particular attention was paid to extensive field scatterings of pottery dated at later periods of the Bronze Age and probably also at the Iron Age. In several sites, as can be judged on the results of geomagnetic prospections, there are numerous features embedded in the ground. In that case, a systematic excavation should be carried out. Of these sites a big highland settlement in Janowice seems to be the most spectacular.

This research will focus on the major solar flares (X-Class) from active region AR 10720. All the data were retrieved and analysed from authority agencies which are SOHO and NOAA. From X-ray data, AR 10720 was producing 5 major solar flares namely X1.2, X2.6, X3.8, X1.3 and X7.1 from 106 of total solar flares. From data analysis, all major solar flares were associated with full halo coronal mass ejection (CME) except for solar flare X1.2. If major solar flare happened early, it will potentially to happened again in the same AR in the range 1-3 days. The speed of halo-CME was producing more than 1,000 kms-1. The Dst index shows all major solar flares affected the earth magnetic field and lead to geomagnetic storms in the ranges 1-3 days after the flares events. From proton speed data shows there is no obvious pattern towards major solar flares. From of all these data, prediction of major solar flares can be made in futures research.

Earth's magnetic field

secular geomagnetic field changes
Opis:
The development of navigation systems requires more and more accurate base data. Currently, attention is paid to utilization of geophysical fields - gravitational and magnetic ones - for navigation purposes. The Earth’s magnetic field distribution - both onshore and offshore - is complicated and variable in time. Hence, it is essential to precisely know the secular variations in the area of interest. In the case of Baltic Sea, this involves establishing (re-establishing) of a marine network of secular points (repeat stations) and regular magnetic measurements of the three independent components of the Earth’s magnetic field. Such measurements require equipment that ensures not only high stability, but also information about sensors’ orientation in relation to geographic north and to the level. This article presents a new project of the Baltic network of repeat stations and gives a solution for the instruments usable for quasi-absolute magnetic measurements.
W przypadku Morza Bałtyckiego wymagałoby to ustanowienia (wznowienia) sieci punktów wiekowych na morzu i regularnych pomiarów trzech składowych pola magnetycznego Ziemi w tychże punktach.

Opis:
The velocity (~242 km•s-1) of the Solar System around the galactic center within the universal pressure (~10-10 Pascal) produces energies within the earth’s volume that is equivalent to that released by the sum of all earthquakes per unit time. The available energy within the earth and solar volume from the expected spatial variations of this pressure along this perimeter, which requires about 250 million years to traverse, can accommodate the increased geomagnetic activity from the expanding solar corona over the last approximately 100 years as well as the increase in global warming. Inferences of a varying structure of space that may explain the periodicity and range in solar cycles as well as anomalous minimums (such as the Maunder phenomenon) suggest a central galactic singularity with spatial ripples exhibiting peak-to-peak troughs that approximate the earth’s circumference and frequencies in the order of 7 to 8 Hz. The precise velocity-universal pressure flux density may also explain the millilux-range magnitude of the earth’s night (air) glow. These results and the application of these concepts indicate that origins of seismicity, slow drifts in the intensity of geomagnetic activity, and global warming (and cooling) trends are products of differential interactions with quantitative fluctuations in sub-matter space and that the subtle variations encountered as the Solar System moves along this 1021 m perimeter may be more significant than previously assumed.

Opis:
The study aimed to examine the use of Geomagnetic Anomaly Detection (GAD) to locate the buried ferromagnetic pipeline defects without exposing them. However, the accuracy of GAD is limited by the background noise. In the present work, we propose an approximate entropy noise suppression (AENS) method based on Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) for detection of pipeline defects. The proposed method is capable of reconstructing the magnetic field signals and extracting weak anomaly signals that are submerged in the background noise, which was employed to construct an effective detector of anomalous signals. The internal parameters of VMD were optimized by the Scale–Space algorithm, and their anti-noise performance was compared. The results show that the proposed method can remove the background noise in high-noise background geomagnetic field environments. Experiments were carried out in our laboratory and evaluation results of inspection data were analysed; the feasibility of GAD is validated when used in the application to detection of buried pipeline defects.

The average time of the burst occurred are around 03:24 UT until 03:28 UT with the clear minor CME emerged recorded by SOHO at 03:12 UT. Although it just a minor CME but it is still giving the effect on Earth as it contributes to geomagnetic disturbance on the Earth during that day. The affected region reported by The Local news is Sweden, where the radar system for aviation was not clear, but it is back to normal after a few hours later. This geomagnetic disturbance is powerful enough that may cause the satellite damage, endanger astronauts and produce destructive surges on power grids.

A number of previous studies have examined various statistical methods for the prediction of geomagnetic activity, particularly based on predictor input of solar wind variables. However, investigation of the potential for a simple binary prediction system based on either “quiet” or storm-level activity of the planetary magnetic field has been severely lacking. The goals of the current analyses were to identify potential space weather models for the accurate prediction of geomagnetic storm events. Furthermore, while the deleterious or negative effects of increases in geomagnetic activity on a range of terrestrial systems have been focused on in the past, theoretical perspectives on the potential benefits of significantly increased geomagnetic perturbations are considered.

In the autumn of 2016 a geomagnetic survey was conducted in Skołoszów, site. 7, Dist Jarosław. The magnetic prospection took place on a low hill spanning 2.12 ha in total. Distribution of the anomalies, as visible on a map depicting obtained data, reflects numerous structures related to human activity in the area during the prehistory and historic times. Among them are two features interpreted as residues of funerary rituals taking place at the site. One of them pertains to Middle Neolithic earthen long barrow, whereas the second by its shape resembles Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age tumuli. Apart from the latter, one can discern numerous anomalies potentially related to pits and ditches. Interpretation of the geophysical imagery was based upon the results of excavations conducted in 2010 in the nearby section of Skołoszów, site 7. In the process, funeral structures in the types of earthen long barrow and a presumable tumulus were recorded. Thus, it is possible to confront observations inferred from the results of non-invasive, magnetometric survey, with data obtained by means of more direct exploratory methods. Besides the prehistoric record, our investigation resulted in reconstruction of the trenches most probably dating to the First World War.

Zaobserwowany w ostatnim 5-leciu charakter zmian pola magnetycznego skłonił do modyfikacji dotychczas stosowanej metodyki badań względnych zmian wiekowych.
The paper presents results of the studies on local relative time variations of total geomagnetic field observed along the 700 km long profile crossing the Paleozoic Platform (PLZ), Transeuropean Suture Zone (TESZ) and East European Craton (EEC). The study is a continuation of the research conducted in the years 1966-2000. Measurements of the Earth's magnetic field made in the last five years revealed a new phenomenon, which was a faster increase of the magnetic field observed at the EEC. They proved also that the dynamics of the magnetic field variations observed for the EEC was greater than it was for TESZ and PLZ. The character of geomagnetic field variations observed during the last five years caused the modification of method of studies of relative secular geomagnetic variations.

Opis:
The paper summarizes 50 years of research on relative local secular variations of the total magnetic intensity (TMI) along Zgorzelec-Wiżajny profile (Z-W profile) through the years 1966–2016. The Z-W profile (approximately 650 km length) cuts through Europe’s major tectonic units, including a zone of Variscan folds in the Paleozoic platform (PP), the Trans-European Suture Zone (TESZ) and the Polish part of the East European Craton (EEC). Measurements of TMI were made at 31 sites of the profile and reduced to the base recordings at the Central Geophysical Observatory in Belsk. Based on linear approximations of relative geomagnetic field values changes in time, relative annual changes in time (relative secular variations) expressed in nanoteslas [nT] per year were calculated. The study on relative geomagnetic field values revealed slower secular variations of the geomagnetic field in EEC as compared to those in PP and TESZ. However, they show lower amplitudes of these variations. An interesting phenomenon are rapid changes in the time of the relative values (trends) of TMI starting from the year 2000, also expressed as the relative secular variations per year, particularly visible in PP area. In the qualitative sense, relative secular variations show a correlation with the main geological units in the Polish territory and also important elements in the seismic and geothermal model of the lithosphere.

Opis:
One of the most promising technologies for suppressing the growth of malignant (cancer) cells without adversely affecting normal cells involves the application of physiologically-patterned and bioquantum compatible magnetic fields with specific temporal increments generated by optocoupler circuits through each of the three spatial planes. However, experimentally generated magnetic field patterns designed to target cancer cells are also immersed within the magnetic environment of the incubators. We measured anomalous alterations in the horizontal (primarily “east-west”) component of the geomagnetic static field intensity within cell incubators when the most effective experimental field was being generated between three sets of solenoids. The eccentric response was a function of the six solenoids being wrapped or not wrapped with copper foil. In addition, activating or deactivating the experimental field for fixed increments was associated with discrete and obvious DC shifts in the horizontal component as well as emergent patterns that were not a component of either the experimental field or the background incubator 60 Hz source. If the temporal pattern that defines the effects induced by these magnetic fields is analogous to the spatial patterns that define chemical functions, failure to accommodate these anisotropic transients could be a source of the frequent contradictions and inter-laboratory failures to replicate these phenomena. We suggest that the emergent phenomena from these interactions with quantum-like features may be the causal variables responsible for many of the promising effects for cancer suppression. A modified Dicke model derived from quantum optics where cells cooperatively interact with a single mode of the field and their dipole fields interact coherently may accommodate the observed effects.

Opis:
The local relative changes of the total intensity geomagnetic field in time are presented against the background of the geological structure of Lublin-Podlasie slope (LPSK) of the East European Craton. The research concerned measurement results of the total intensity (T) of the geomagnetic field, taken in the last 12 years (1997-2008) at 20 sites located along the Parczew - Chełm profile. Relative temporal changes of the geomagnetic field were determined on the basis of values of geomagnetic field calculated with reference to geomagnetic field measured at the base. These changes are presented as graphs, and in the form of space-time 2D and 3D representations, showing their relationship with the magnetic anomaly map. The cause of local relative changes was attempted to be explained by 2D magnetic modeling assuming that the changes of the induced magnetization of the basement crystalline rocks are result of the geomagnetic secular variations.

Opis:
Space weather effects are generally recognized as causes of degradation of satellite positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) services. We analyze GPS position estimation error during a geomagnetic storm, focusing on manifestations of geomagnetic processes. The position estimation error was analyzed in terms of GPS coordinates’ deviations (latitude, longitude and height) from their reference values. The storm’s impact was studied in the Northern Adriatic region where GPS observables from two Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) reference stations were analysed. Geomagnetic indices were elaborated, comprising readings from interplanetary, magnetospheric and geomagnetic observatories. Total Electron Content (TEC) on both stations was computed using dual frequency GPS pseudorange observables. The experiment was to reconstruct the movement of geomagnetic disturbances entering the geospace, reaching the earth’s surface. The aim was to correlate possible space weather manifestation on satellite positioning performance in terms of positioning error. Regularities in changes in positioning deviations were identified with relation to influential indices. The research offered a possibility of experimental positioning deviations assessment as well as forecasting. Evaluation of generated rudimentary Classification and Regression Trees (CART) models showed that the risk of satellite positioning errors could be assessed and predicted considering absolutes, as well as changes in values of geomagnetic indices. During the research process, several activities emerged as preferable continuation of the work, with the aim of further development of predictive models and the complement of space weather scenarios and their consequences on navigational systems. Along with summarized results, they are outlined in the conclusion section.

Opis:
The interfaces between molecules and the interactions between cells involve very small energies (~10-20 J) and photon flux densities (~10-12 W•m-2) that ultimately control the dynamics and health of the human body. Within the environment there is an increment (± 3 nT) of weak magnetic field fluctuations whose energies within the volume of the human brain display the capacities to affect its properties through nuclear spins in neural membranes. There is a conservation of energy. Within the same volume when there are increases in photon flux densities from cells and human cerebrums there are decreases of interfacial geomagnetic field intensities within the nanoTesla range. The spectral power densities of the sequential quantifications of pseudopotentials of the amino acids that compose proteins and the nucleotides that construct DNA and RNA predict the functions of molecular pathways as electromagnetic resonances. They operate through these small energies, photon flux densities, and fluctuating magnetic fields. Whereas metabolic-level energies operate the mechanics of the multivariate molecular pathways for cell signaling the photon wavelengths predicted by the Cosic Resonant Recognition Model may be the templates and the initiators. The involvement of specific peaks of photon wavelengths that are the energetic equivalents of molecular structures containing intrinsic phase-modulations creates the conditions for excess correlations (“entanglement”) and potential non-locality within the total human environment. This alternative perspective may facilitate developments of different strategies and technologies for solving the challenges of global public health in the 21st century.

Opis:
The progress in observation technology and navigation systems, as well as improvements in appliances used for carrying out magnetic measurements require a knowledge of the Earth’s magnetic field distribution, not only on land but also in water regions. In order to update the results of marine magnetic measurements the knowledge of specific variations in a water region is required. It is connected with establishing a network of repeat stations taking regular measurements of three independent components of the Earth’s magnetic field. Charts contained in the Atlas of the Baltic Magnetic Charts in which the discovered anomalies in a geomagnetic field are marked can be useful in designing such a network.
