Opis:
This paper scrutinizes the behavior of individual forecasters included in the Consensus Forecast inflation data for the US. More precisely, we try to determine whether individual forecasters deviate systematically from each other. We examine whether the ranking of forecasters is the same over time. The full micro data set includes 74 forecasters over the period 1989M10-2011M3. The results clearly indicate that the forecasters behave quite persistently so that, for instance, the ranking of forecasters does not change over time. Even so, we also find that the survey values imply reasonable values for the hybrid form of the New Keynesian Phillips curve and that forecaster’s disagreement is positively related to the size of forecast errors.

The study presents the content-analysis (n=135) and factor analysis of students’ mental states of expectations (n=123). The understanding of mental states of expectations by education workers allows for the operationalization of the process of solving tasks of students’ academic and professional training. The purpose is to examine the structure, variables and interdependence of the factors of students’ mental states of expectations. The research methods are content-analysis, tests with standardized questionnaires, factor analysis. Factor analysis was used to determine the structure of mental states of expectations. The principal factor in this structure is F1“meaning-of-life moderation” (20.70%), which is interrelated with F2 “pragmatic regulation” (=.404; p≤.01) and F3 “subjective regulation” (=.357; p≤.01). The obtained results could be useful for education directors organizing the academic process of students, and also for scientists in the field of psychology of expectations, psychology of constructing the future.

Purpose: The article attempts to identify the relationship between employers’ psychological contract perception (relational and transactional expectations) and the occurrence of counterproductive work behavior among their employees. The study seeks to extend the understanding of the psychological contract concept and its correlation with counterproductive work behaviors. There are numerous studies analyzing the perceptions of obligations and promises of a psychological contract from the employee’s viewpoint. However, the question of employer expectations and the perception of the fulfillment of these expectations is not less important, albeit much less elaborated. Methodology: Participants were 101 managers and owners of small and medium companies who represent different businesses in construction industry in the Ukrainian market. Data were collected through a questionnaire. Key findings: The results of the study show that employers have a high level of expectations toward their employees, and the relational character of the expectations is dominant. However, the per ceptions of the fulfillment of these expectations were at a moderate level. The results also show that employers reveal a moderate level of counterproductive work behavior (CWB) and a significan relationship between psychological contract (PC), relational expectations, and CWB.

The aim of the paper is twofold: to calculate the risk premium understood as a difference between an implied forward rate and a reference rate. The second is to show the sensitivity of the risk premium (a difference between) to market disturbances and than to monetary policy easing.

Background: The Regulation of the Minister of Health issued on 16th August 2018 addressed the matter of the organizational standard of perinatal care which determines guidelines concerning care of the newborn baby, in which skin-to-skin contact and early breastfeeding are important. Aim of the study: The aim of this study is to explore women’s preferences concerning care of the newborn in the immediate postpartum period. Material and methods: 130 patients attending the Pro-Familia specialist hospital in Rzeszow participated in this research. The cohort consisted of pregnant women who had attended the doctor supervising their pregnancy before delivery. The research was carried out from March to April 2013 and the data collected was statistically analyzed, assuming a significance level of p<0.05. Results: Pregnant women most often expressed a preference of an accompanying person to cut the newborn’s umbilical cord (59.2%), with 23.1% preferring a member of the medical team to do so. The majority (89.2%) of pregnant women wanted their baby to be laid on their stomach immediately following delivery to ensure skin-to-skin contact. In terms of Apgar scoring, 69.2% of women expected information about the Apgar score of their newborn immediately after delivery. Most women (60%) wished their newborn to be given routine vaccinations for hepatitis B and tuberculosis (BCG). Patients most often declare that they want to breastfeed exclusively (77.7%), with 29.2% of women expressing a wish to obtain more information about breastfeeding and 31.5% wishing to consult with a lactation specialist. Conclusions: Pregnant women expect skin-to-skin contact immediately after delivery, the umbilical cord to be cut by an accompanying person and would like to be told their newborn’s Apgar score. The women studied prefer exclusively breastfeeding, and express a wish to obtain information regarding lactation, and expect to be able to consult with a lactation specialist.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to determine the expectations of students from selected Polish academic centers toward facilities at agritourist farms, and identifying the socio-demographic characteristics that determined those expectations. A survey method was used in this research. Using the Likert’s five-level scale, respondents rated the significance of elements of agritourist farm facilities. It was found that academic youth expected, above all, facilities for enabling passive leisure and the independent preparation of meals. Provision of facilities for active leisure were of less significance to them. Gender, place of living, field of study and prior experience connected to leisure on the farms analyzed were not factors that differentiated students’ expectations. A weak correlation was found between students’ expectations of facilities at agritourist farms and their economic status. Students’ expectations were very similar to the expectations of the average agritourist. Research results confirmed some of the results known from the literature, stating that socio-demographic characteristics differentiated the expectations of academic youth to a small extent. However, the effects obtained did not correspond to results claiming that age, gender, place of living and income have a significant influence on tourist expectations. Additionally psychographic characteristics should be considered in the following research. A combination of demographic and psychographic characteristics may offer a wider base for analysis and give better end results, allowing market segmentation.

Subject and purpose of work: The aim of this paper is to identify the professional expectations of the students of Economics at the Pope John Paull II State School of Higher Education in Biała Podlaska. The paper also presents the respondents’ opinions on particularly desirable values of potential employers. Materials and methods: The research was carried out using the CAWI method in January 2021. It involved 108 students of Economics pursuing Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Results: The values that most respondents expect from their future employers cover attractive remuneration, the stability of employment, a promotion prospect and friendly workplace atmosphere. The least significant values include work in a big city, work in a convenient location and an opportunity to work in an international environment. The students of older years would find it easier to cope with work at a high pace and under the pressure of time. The need to perform imitative work and focus only on the narrow scope of work duties would not be a serious problem for the participants of the study. Conclusions: The students of Economics at the Pope John Paull II State School of Higher Education in Biała Podlaska will engage in their work and perform it to the best of their abilities if they are adequately remunerated and given a possibility of further professional development, and when working conditions and atmosphere are good and comfortable.

oczekiwania konsumentów
consumers expectations
Opis:
Nacisk położony został na następujące czynniki: obniżenie ryzyka wystąpienia chorób cywilizacyjnych, korzystny wpływ na funkcjonowanie organizmu (np. obniżenie poziomu chole-sterolu, zwiększenie odporności organizmu, poprawa koncentracji itp.), zredukowanie masy ciała, poprawa nastroju i samopoczucia, obniżenie kosztów utrzymania gospodarstwa domowego, ła-twość utylizacji produktów gospodarstwa domowego, np. sprzętu elektronicznego.
The paper presents consumers’ expectations on the healthy and environmentally friendly market. Described expectations should be seen as a kind of challenge for entrepreneurs who should try to respond to the changing trends in consumption and adjust their offer to those expectations. Undoubtedly, the analysis of consumers' expectations should help companies to design products that meet with acceptance from customers. On the other hand, the richness and diversity of poten-tial product innovations create an incredible opportunity for entrepreneurs to acquire a completely new target groups and enter on new markets. Entrepreneurs are not always aware of all the benefits of this type of action. The article is based on selected results of a study on the attitudes and prefer-ences of consumers the healthy and environmentally friendly market. The study was carried out by the staff of the Department of Marketing and Regional Development, UTP in Bydgoszcz, at the end of 2014. For the purposes of this study an analysis and evaluation of the significance was performed only for selected factors influencing the consumers’ on the healthy and environmentally friendly market. These expectations substantially influence the purchasing decisions of consumers. Emphasis was put on the following factors: risk reductions of civilization diseases, beneficial effects on the body functions, (eg. reduction of cholesterol level, improvement of body immunity, improvement of concentration etc.), reduction of body weight, improvement of mood and well-being, reduction of household maintenance costs, facilities in recycling of household products (eg. electronic equipment).

In autumn 1980 Swiat Młodych, a newspaper addressed to teenagers, announced a competition called “MyWorld 80–81.” By early 1981 hundreds of letters had come in. This unique source of information allows us to get a glimpse of teenagers’ perception of the birth of the “Solidarity” movement. Thanks to these letters, we can take a closer look at school discussions, conversations at the family table or disputes during school intervals. Everyday life is also reflected in these letters: queues, crowded public transport, fatigue and uncertainty. The vast majority of the letter writers sympathised with “Solidarity” although the prospect of confrontation between the regime and the inchoate movement was a source of anxiety. The authorities were largely perceived as a degenerate oligarchy. The quoted letters are also a testimony of discovery of the past and withheld historical facts and also of the search for new authorities (e.g., Czesław Miłosz). The young generation’s declarations suggest that it wanted to participate in public life with previously unparalleled gusto. Martial law nipped this positive energy in the bud.

Opis:
The authors present a grounded theory concerning teachers’ expectations of students and employers’ expectations of graduates. The analysis is based on empirical research while the interpretation of the results is based on critical theory. Employers’ expectations turned out to be wide-ranging and impossible for candidates. Teachers’ expectations, however, reproduced that part of employers’ expectations that can be linked to conformity, devotion, and faithfulness. In light of the authors’ interpretation, education fails to perform an emancipatory function, i.e. it fails to equip students with the critical competence necessary for active involvement in civil society. The labor market, on the other hand, is a dominating force that blocks the development of a discursive, open version of society. Graduates find themselves in a double-sided trap sprung on them, firstly, by education and later by employers.

After a brief review of the costs caused by the bridge collapse, the legislation leading up to the Genoa decree, adopted immediately after the incident, has been analysed. The legal act contains an organic collection of specific norms to mitigate the economic consequences, with special regard to the manufacturing and maritime sector. The economic impact of the locally adopted provision is also the subject of analysis. Due to the exploratory nature of the work, particular attention has been paid to the role played by expectations and credibility of politicians' statements.

The objective of the paper is to analyse the labour market behaviour of older workers, specifically cross-country differences in expectations regarding the exit from the labour market and subsequent realization. Using longitudinal Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) data and econometric analysis, we provide an international comparison of the situation of older workers in the Czech Republic with the other countries of Europe. The data show that although expectations about work activity at the age of 63 are quite similar in the Czech Republic from an international perspective, the work activity realized differs significantly between the Czech Republic and other countries. Our principal finding is that the Czech Republic has a high rate of unexpected retirements compared to all other European countries included in this analysis, even if we control for the socioeconomic background of respondents. The econometric analyses further show that up to about one-third of this difference can be explained by the lower retirement age set by the institutional environment in the Czech Republic, which is anticipated by employees at preretirement age. Conversely, the health status of older workers, and even the different allocation of employees to physically demanding occupations, does not have a significant impact on these cross-country differences in unexpected retirements.

Adaptation is a notion frequently used in legal acts which normalize the educational situation of learners with disabilities. This has made adaptive activity an immanent part of school practice. The thesis is put forward that adaptation is an ambiguous category and therefore is used in various ways or is frequently overused. In many circumstances, this notion has become a skeleton key which opens the space for free lowering of educational requirements and schematic simplification of educational situations, which frequently hinders learners’ development. The study is aimed at explaining the phenomenon of adaptation and at considering its possible variants with special regard for the context of inclusive education of disabled learners.

The survey carried out among university students has proved that they choose the forest as a place to spend their leisure time mostly in the spring (13.2%) and in the summer (21.2%). Students declare that they relaxed in the forest even a few times a week. Apart from recreation (walking - 61.6%, picking mushrooms - 37%), they engage in health improving activities, including sport (29.4%). Young people (especially town dwellers - 40.2%) decide go to the forest to get away from everyday routine (33.9%) in search of peace and quiet surroundings (40.5%). They do not have any specific preferences for the type of forest (50.1%), they feel good in mixed forests (31.9%), however. Since the forms of activity most frequently indicated by students are hiking and biking, they notice poor infrastructure of forest areas (lack of marked hiking routes - 14.3% and bicycle lanes - 12.5%). Respondents are familiar with the condition of forests in the proximity of the place of their residence (81.6%), considering it as basically good (75.9%). However, their knowledge of the natural environment protection forms and fire protection rules is definitely insufficient.

This study aimed to determine teachers’ expectations from parents for effective science teaching and reveal parents’ beliefs on how much they satisfy such expectations. Face-to-face interviews were conducted with 5 science teachers in order to determine teachers’ expectations from parents. “The Scale of Expectations from Parent (SEFP)” was developed by using the findings obtained from the interviews. It was a 5-point Likert-type scale made up of 21 items and including the scale of “parental support” and “sense of responsibility”. The developed scale was delivered to the parents of the students of the teachers participating in the interview. The research results indicated that parents’ levels of satisfying the expectations were a significant predictor of science achievement.

Research background: At the background, there are issues related to policy credibility and policy targets. For these issues, long-term forecasts can provide important information. Of course, long-term forecasts are needed also e.g. for evaluation of real returns. Purpose of the article: This paper tries to find out how informative the ECB Survey of Professional Forecasters data on long-term inflation prospects are from the point of view of the overall quality of the survey and on the other hand from the point of view of monetary policy credibility. Methods: The analysis makes use of individual forecaster level quarterly panel data for the period 1999Q1?2018Q4. Conventional panel econometrics tools are used to find out whether forecasts are sensitive to changes in actual inflation and other relevant variables. Findings & Value added: We find some weaknesses considering the size of the survey, the selection of the sample (more precisely the participation to the survey) and the inertial responses of forecasters which suggest that the survey values are not actively updated. Moreover, we find that towards the end of the sample period, the survey values are related to actual inflation and to short-term expectations, which is not consistent with the credibility of the official inflation target.

Research background: A common problem of employing the Czech unemployed (especially young people) is that their professional and personal qualities often do not meet the re-quirements of employers. Despite the increasing level of education, the unemployment of young generation of millennials has been worsening. It seems that they often lack relevant professional skills and social habits, and usually have unreal expectations about their initial job opportunities. We want to explore this problem in more detail. Purpose of the article: The purpose of the article is to present work expectations of today's Czech millennials and post-millennials and discuss their potential employability on the Czech labor market. Methods: The paper is based on the analysis of available scientific literature and the results of the authors' questionnaire survey focused on students of three selected Czech universities and their motivation to study at university and their expectations about the future career. The survey was conducted in spring and autumn 2016. The respondents were full-time and com-bined bachelor's and master's students of the College of Regional Development in Prague, the Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies of the Czech Technical University in Prague and the Education Management Centre of the Faculty of Education of the Charles University in Prague. The relevant data were obtained from 484 students. Findings & Value added: The results support the research assumption that young generation of Czech millennials show relatively high expectations related to work and career, which would limit their employability. Many employers are afraid of employing young people, but from the perspective of potential shortage of qualified and motivated people on the Czech labor market they should learn to create appropriate and attractive employment opportunities for young people to ensure effective development of their potential. The article presents common work expectations of today's Czech millennials and provides employers with some advice to manage them.

Opis:
Rationality of economic agents belongs to the basic assumptions of neoclassical economic theory, and for decades it has inspired research on whether expectations are indeed formed rationally. Direct data on expectations are available mainly through business tendency surveys which are subject to various types of non-response problems. Inclination of industrial enterprises to respond may be correlated with values of measured variable, introducing response bias. Response bias may also occur as a result of introducing weighting systems to control variable size of respondents. The two key properties of rational expectations, on which the majority of empirical analyses of survey data are focused, are unbiasedness and orthogonality. We analyze several sample balance statistics and expectations series based on quantified survey data, taking into consideration issues of non-response and weighting schemes. Alternative definitions of expectations series aim to account for: 1) influence of arbitrary assumptions concerning weighting of individual data, 2) changing sample structure that results from non-response, 3) response rates varying with degree of optimism / pessimism of respondents. Results of our analysis indicate that expectations concerning relative changes in production are unbiased but not efficient with respect to freely available information, namely, observed relative changes in production (lagged three months) and expectations balance (lagged two months). This result holds for a range of weighting schemes and non-response issues analyzed, including changes introduced to sample structure by non-response, and increased inclination of “optimists” and “pessimists” to supply answers in the business tendency survey, as long as their shares remain constant in time.

The article focuses on aspects of modern monetary strategy: inflation expectationsand inflation forecasts. Inflation forecasts’ main function is shaping inflationexpectations. The deeper the impact of a central bank on expectations, the easierits task of stabilization of inflation on the targeted level. The article presents theresults of empirical research that verifies the hypothesis on existence of interdependencesof inflation forecasts and inflation expectations. The research coverstwo countries: Sweden and the Czech Republic. The research methodology includesquantitative methods: quantification of expectations (Carlson-Parkin method)and non-parametric statistics of interdependences. The research confirms theexistence of statistically important interdependences of inflation forecasts andexpectations in both countries. Their strength is remarkable for Sweden (c.a. 0.70)and much weaker for the Czech Republic (c.a. 3.0).

A heterogeneous Bertrand duopoly game with bounded rational and adaptive players manufacturing differentiated products is subject of investigation. The main goal is to demonstrate that participation of one bounded rational player in the game suffices to destabilize the duopoly. The game is modelled with a system of two difference equations. Evolution of prices over time is obtained by iteration of a two dimensional nonlinear map. Equilibria are found and local stability properties thereof are analyzed. Complex behavior of the system is examined by means of numerical simulations. Region of stability of the Nash equilibrium is demonstrated in the plane of the speeds of adjustment. Period doubling route to chaos is presented on the bifurcation diagrams and on the largest Lyapunov characteristic exponent graph. Lyapunov time is calculated. Chaotic attractors are depicted and their fractal dimensions are computed. Sensitive dependence on initial conditions is evidenced.

In this paper, the results of the quantification procedures and the properties of expectations series obtained for two data vintages are compared. The volume index of production sold in manufacturing is defined for end-of-sample and real time data, and evaluated against expectations expressed in business tendency surveys. Empirical analysis shows that (1) there are no statistically significant differences between the quantification results obtained on the basis of real time and end-of-sample data, and (2) the results of unbiasedness and orthogonality tests are not influenced by data vintage. Therefore, for the purposes of analyzing the properties of expectations expressed in the business tendency survey, researchers can use easily available end-of-sample data instead of custom-designed and individually compiled real time databases. Also, (3) expectations series are not unbiased or efficient forecasts of changes in production, regardless of data vintage.

Opis:
This article is inspired by Georg Simmel’s formal sociology and written in his characteristic essay style. The article is about the representation relation viewed as a form of social interaction. Contrary to approaches which are dominant in the literature, the author argues that representation is a trilateral relation: the representative always represents the representee before an audience, even if this audience is not always easy to define. The same, paradoxically, can be said about the representee. In its pure forms, the object of representation may be the very presence of the representee, the representee’s will or his/her interest and mutual expectations among the three parties will vary depending on what is being represented. Many representation relations only become such relations ex post; they are initiated not in the act of authorization but in the act of usurpation which is legalized and institutionalized not only by the representee but also by the audience. For this reason, the difference between representation and usurpation is often fluid and fuzzy. The representation relation, as it is understood in this article, is one of the main forms of social interaction because thanks to this relation people who cannot appear personally in the public sphere for various reasons can nevertheless make an appearance.

The results of tests conducted using a validated questionnaire on a group of 112 representatives of generation Y have shown that for the representatives of this generation work is important in so far as is consistent with their preferences, competences and enables the interests of outside professional. As a result, the study found that women (in accordance with the established procedure of research) and to persons born after 1987 years people (to a greater extent than others) appreciate the predictability at work and "minimal sense of security". Loyalty to the employer and the desire to maintain jobs is not their forte. In my work they want to stay as long as the work will meet their expectations. A permanent contract of employment is important for them however, when more favorable financial agreement is a civil legal, they prefer to contract civil law. Young women on the other hand, and "the older part of the generation Y" to a greater extent than civil law contracts, appreciate the employment contract.

The main purpose of this research paper was to analyze the expectations of the industries related to competencies of graduates of engineering programs. The paper presents preliminary research. The survey was conducted at twenty-eight companies within the area of technical university in Poland. Based on the survey, data was collected related to the level of preparation of engineering graduates as well as the industry expectations related to the preparation of engineering graduates. This was done for the purpose of determining the gap between industry expectations and the level of preparation of the engineering graduates. Enterprises expect a wide range of competences from engineering graduates. The most important areas of competence included soft competences and practical knowledge and skills. The biggest gap between industry expectation and graduate’s preparation are the soft skills. Recommendations were suggested which would be incorporated in the engineering curriculum for the purpose of continuous quality improvement.

Questionnaire survey conducted in 2016 is confirming that the most crucial elements to which employers are paying attention at seeking the employee are the experience of the candidate and the ability to constantly learn and improve. Moreover, the most desired skills in the view of employers are communicativeness, self-reliance, teamwork and organisational skills. One should emphasise there is a competence discrepancy between companies representing the analysed countries. An example can be the level of ICT skills and knowledge of foreign languages. Potential employers from Poland and Latvia agreed that the candidate for work does not have to be fluent in another language, for example, English. A communicative level in their point of view is sufficient.

A child's entry into primary school is an important life event for parents that is accompanied not just by the child’s expectations but also those of the parents themselves. We have attempted to interpret them in the present study, which presents the results of a quantitative research investigation conducted through random multi-stage stratified sampling based on analysing relevant surveys and building on the authors' previous qualitative investigations. The sample studied was 504 parents of pupils in Years 1 and 2 who attended selected primary schools in the 2020/2021 school year. The main data collection tool was an online questionnaire that mapped primary school choice strategies and parents' expectations of the school, schooling, and teachers. These factors were then examined in relation to the variable choice of an educational program and parents' attitudes toward education (an academic approach versus a personalistic one). We found that parents' expectations of school choice are principally divided according to whether respondents believe school should fulfil the more traditional role of education or whether they prefer their children to develop their personalities and seek an alternative educational program or school for their offspring.

Unanticipated money shock is expansionary for the machine-building industry, while being restrictionary for agriculture. In general, our results reject the Monetary Neutrality Hypothesis (MNH).

Opis:
The article reflects on the therapeutic and ethical potential of literature, the theme which is often marginalized and overlooked by literary critics, in the novel Mister Pip by Lloyd Jones. Matilda, the main character of the analyzed novel, finds salvation in the times of war and oppression thanks to Charles Dickens’s masterpiece, Great Expectations, and the only white man on the Island − her teacher, Mr. Watts. Matilda’s strong identification with Dickensian Pip (their similarities and differences) and imagination make her escape to another world, become a self-conscious person and reunite with her father. The paper also discusses relationships between Matilda, Mr. Watts (her spiritual guide and creator of her story, who presents the girl with expectations for a better future) and her mother, Dolores. I attempt to show the emotional development of the characters, their interactions, changes, sense of identity (significant for both Jones and Dickens), and, having analyzed their actions, I compare them to protagonists created by Charles Dickens (Pip, Miss Havisham, Estella). Needless to say, drawing the reader’s attention to British culture and traditions, Lloyd Jones avoids focusing on the negative aspects of the postcolonial views, pointing out that “the white man” can be an example of a Dickensian gentleman.

Agrotourism is a form of alternative tourism which means that it is not being organized by specialized tourist offices, on a mass scale. It is frequently considered to be rural tourism but in fact it is not. Rural tourism is defined as temporary residence at private summer houses, boarding houses, small camp cities etc. Overwhelming majority of researchers investigating the problem lean towards opinion that agrotourism is strictly connected with a farm. Principal purpose of the paper was to discuss opportunities of practising agrotourism in Czorsztyn commune. The issue was presented in the context of existing in the commune agrotourist associations as well as the results of poll inquiries which were carried out at the commune among tourists resting on agrotourist farms.

Opis:
Do weryfikacji trafności zewnętrznej testu zastosowano dwa testy osobowości: Kwestionariusz NEO-FFI Costy i McCrae oraz Test Przymiotnikowy ACL Gougha i Heilbruna.
The article presents the process of creating a tool for research of counselling expectations based on the concept of counselling styles elaborated by Bożena Wojtasik (1997). The pilot study was done with the help of 268 high school students [technical and liceum (comprehensive)] comprised of 169 boys and 99 girls aged between of 17 – 20. A psychometric analysis of this tool has not confirmed the existence of theoretical scales relating to categories such as expert, informant, laissez-faire, consultant, submissive guardian, but has lead to two new categories – "humanist counsellor" (10positions, Cronbach's alfa = 0,834) and "rational counsellor" (10positions, Cronbach's alfa = 0,741). To verify the adequacy of an external test, two personality tests were used: the NEO-FFI questionnaire by Costy and McCrae and Guough's and Heilbrun's ACL Adjective test. It has also been verified whether the method described is stable over time. A final version of the questionnaire has been prepared along with a normalisation.

This article presents topics related to the main stakeholders of enterprises in the 21st century – employees operating in a market dominated by globalization and technological progress. To a large extent, they determine the competitive position of their organizations. To this end, the author describes the expectations of Polish employees as key stakeholders of the organization in which they are employed. Moreover, the author defines and describes the conditions that must be met to optimize the use of their potential. Good relations with this group of stakeholders is the basis for creating business strategies in the 21st century. The author also presents a description of his own research, which concerns the analysis of actions taken by companies aimed at creating optimal working conditions for their employees; this is also the main goal of this article. The analysis of source materials and research results indicated that employees played a large role in organizations and the need to implement dedicated tools and management methods. It should be obvious that the new economic realities force companies to invest in intangible resources, as it is thanks to them that it is possible to achieve market success. The main feature of companies that seek to achieve success is social sensitivity, which is manifested by a series of actions aimed at meeting the expectations of employees.

The article analyzes conditional beta convergence in the EU28 countries with the use of spatial econometrics techniques. We consider alternative structure of the spatial weight matrix based on economic distances. Basing on the spatial Durbin-Watson model, two spatial specifications are tested, which make use of the volume of international trade and the inverted GDP per capita differences between the considered objects. We confirm the existence of GDP convergence and show that the gravity-models-type logic is superior to the approach based on inverted geographic distances.

Referring to the results of the authors’ own research published in The New Educational Review (Turska, Bernacka 2010; Turska 2011), this article attempts at competitive verification of a hypothesis that explains differences in the perception of a mathematics teacher by Polish male and female students in view of a popular stereotype that Mathematics is a domain for males. It was assumed that diverse perceptions may result from different interpersonal expectations of the two genders. A comparative study carried out on a group of Ukrainians, established in accordance with the principles of ecological validity, seems to further substantiate the stigmatising effect of the stereotype in Poland.

Opis:
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of the paper is to identify and quantify selected salary expectations determinants (including gender) of Accounting and Controlling students at Cracow University of Economics. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: We conduct a survey of expected salaries among students . We use Shapiro-Wilk W test and Wilcoxon signed-rank test for initial analysis. We then build econometric linear models in which salary expectations are dependent variables, whereas GPA, holding a foreign language certificate, gender and age are independent variables. We estimate these models by OLS. We use Huber/White robust standard errors to assess statistical significance of each parameter. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: Graduates of accounting programmes are sought at the labour market. For cognitive purposes and educational policy implications it is of utmost importance to understand which observable factors differentiate students in their salaries’ expectations. RESEARCH RESULTS: We find a number of variables that are statistically significant and associated with the expected salary. Higher salaries for graduates of Accounting and Controlling major are expected by: students with lower GPA, holders of a foreign language certificate, male students, younger students. On the contrary, lower salaries are expected by students with higher GPA, students who do not hold a foreign language certificate, female students, older students. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Students differ among themselves – thus we observe various salary expectations. Nonetheless, some of the obtained results are puzzling. We find that female students demand lower salaries. Similarly it is surprising that students with lower GPA expect higher salaries. As a result, we recommend to further investigate determinants of salary expectations.

Inflation expectations, both their median and dispersion, are of great importance to the effectiveness of monetary policy. The goal of this paper is to examine the impact of the global financial crisis on dispersion of inflation expectations in the European Union. Using European Commission’s survey data, we find that in the early phase of the crisis the dispersion dropped rapidly but then, after Lehman Brothers’ collapse, the trend reversed and these fluctuations cannot be explained by movements of inflation rates and other commonly used factors. We also observe that, in the new European Union member states, the initial drop of the dispersion was weaker whereas the subsequent rise was stronger as compared to the old member states.

All we have to accept the transience that makes even the most revolutionary concepts and ideas and ideas fall into oblivion. This regularity can also be applied to marketing, because its current form has already fullfilled its role and other, more effective methods of influencing buyers should be sought, i.e. not meeting their needs, but meeting the expectations of: customers, consumers, customers, patients, fans, faithful to people called: producers, medicians, teachers, partners, artists, scientists and clergy. The change of marketing interests from the needs to expectations can be called - "post-marketing". The Walters critique of EMU presumed that pro-cyclical country-specific real interest rates would incorporate significant macroeconomic instability in an environment of asymmetric shocks. The literature on optimum currency areas suggests a number of criteria to minimize this risk, such as market flexibility, high degrees of openness, financial integration or similarity in inflation rates. In this paper, we argue that an essential part of macroeconomic volatility in a monetary union's member country also depends on the mechanism of forming expectations. This is mainly due to (i) the construction of ex ante countryspecific real interest rate, implying a strong or weak negative correlation with current inflation rate and (ii) anticipated (and hence smoothed) loss in competitiveness and boom-bust cycle. In a 2-region 2-sector New Keynesian DSGE model, we apply 5 different specifications of ex ante real interest rates, based on commonly considered types of expectations: rational, adaptive, static, extrapolative and regressive, as well as their hybrids. Our simulations show that rational expectations dominate the other specifications in terms of minimizing the volatility of the most macroeconomic variables. This conclusion is generally insensitive to which group of agents (producers or consumers) and which region (home or foreign) forms the expectations. It also turns out that for some types of expectations theWalters critique indeed applies, i.e. the system does not fulfil the Blanchard-Kahn conditions or the system's companion matrix has explosive eigenvalues.

Producing and revealing inflation forecast is believed to be the best way of implementing a forward-looking monetary policy. The article focuses on inflation forecast targeting (IFT) at the Czech National Bank (CNB) in terms of its efficiency in shaping consumers’ inflation expectations. The goal of the study is to verify the accuracy of the inflation forecasts, and their influence on inflation expectations. The research is divided into four stages. At the first stage, central bank credibility is examined. At the second stage – accuracy of the inflation forecasts. The next step of the research covers a qualitative analysis of IFT implementation. Finally, the existence of the interdependences of inflation forecast, optimal policy paths and inflation expectations is analyzed. Credibility of the central bank, accuracy of the forecast and decision-making procedures focused on the forecast are the premises for the existence of relationship between forecasts and expectations. The research covers the period from July 2002 – till the end of 2013. Its methodology includes qualitative analysis of decision-making of the CNB, quantitative methods (Kia and Patron formula, MAE forecasts errors, quantification of expectations, non-parametric statistics). The results confirm the existence of interdependences between inflation forecasts and expectations of moderate strength. The preconditions of such interdependences are partially fulfilled. The research opens the field for cross-country comparisons and for quantification of IFT implementation.
