W pracy zaprezentowano wstępną koncepcję projektu zautomatyzowanego systemu emisji w regionalnym ośrodku TVP. W omawianym systemie, ciężar odpowiedzialności za emisję spoczywa na rozwiązaniach sprzętowych uzupełnionych warstwą programową, a zadaniem pracowników jest jedynie obsługa systemu i kontrola poprawności jego działania. Scharakteryzowano ponadto proces ewolucji systemów emisyjnych oraz profil ośrodka TVP3 w Krakowie i jego wymagania, a następnie szczegółowo omówiono założenia projektowanego systemu i możliwości jego wdrożenia.
Design of the automated TV emission system for the regional TV center in Kraków has been considered in the paper. Development of the automated TV emission systems has been outline and the requirements of the regional TV center have been described. In the proposed system, the hardware solutions with complementary software bear the liability for the emission of TV signals and tasks of the staff concern only the maintenance and control of system operation. Implementation aspects of the system have been discussed too.

The burning rate of propellants plays a vital role among the parameters controlling the operation of solid rocket motors, therefore, it is crucial to precisely measure the burning rate in the successful design of a solid rocket motor. In the present review, a brief description of the methods for the determination of the burning rate of solid rocket propellants is presented. The effects of various parameters on the burning rate of solid propellants are discussed and reviewed. This review also assesses the merits and limitations of the existing different methods for the evaluation of the burning rate of solid rocket propellants.

The article characterizes state-of-the-art PEMS (Portable Emission Measurement System) equipment for exhaust emissions measurement under actual operating conditions. This equipment allows measurement of the exhaust emissions from all modes of transport. Besides, the article contains the results of exhaust emission research for engines of a variety of transport applications such as light duty vehicles and heavy-duty vehicles. Own exhaust emission research results performed under different traffic conditions of new motor vehicles fuelled with different fuels (gasoline, diesel fuel and natural gas) have been compared with the type approval values that define the vehicle emission indexes. The analysis has been performed in relation to a vehicle but the proposed measurement methodology is also knit to the engine operating conditions. The testing of heavy-duty vehicles described in the book was divided into several stages for which the results obtained for these vehicles were compared for loaded and unloaded vehicles. Ecological advantages of the city buses of different powertrain configurations have been determined (diesel, hybrid) on selected regular bus lines in city centre.

Celem pracy była ocena masowego rozkładu cieczy użytkowej w drzewach podczas opryskiwania sadu jabłoniowego. W badaniach użyto trzy opryskiwacze reprezentujące odmienne systemy emisji powietrza: kierowany (Sepia), poziomy (Holder QU16) i radialny (Storm 1001). Wszystkie opryskiwacze wyposażone były w tradycyjne rozpylacze wirowe. Opryskiwania wykonywano w okresie kwitnienia (maj) i w pełni ulistnienia drzew (lipiec) przy trzech prędkościach roboczych (4,0; 6,0 i 8,0 km h–1). Ocenę naniesienia cieczy użytkowej wykonano metodą fluorescencyjną przy użyciu sztucznych próbników wykonanych z bibuły filtracyjnej. Największe naniesienie uzyskano z opryskiwacza z kierowanym systemem emisji. W pełni ulistnienia naniesienie było średnio o 30% mniejsze niż dla okresu kwitnienia. Uzyskane wyniki wskazują na potrzebę zmian w zaleceniach formułowanych w etykietach środków ochrony roślin.
The objective of the study was to measure the spray deposition on the treated apple trees during the applications made with different sprayers and working parameters. The treatments were made with three sprayers with different air-flow systems: directed air-jet, cross-flow and a radial-flow. All the sprayers were equipped with traditional hollow cone nozzles. The treatments were made during blossom and at full leaf stages. The sprayers were working at travel velocities 4.0; 6.0 and 8.0 km h-1. Deposit of fluorescent tracer was measured on the artificial collectors (filter paper) located in the tree canopies. During the full leaf stage deposition was decreased on average by 30% compared to blossom time. The highest deposition in both stages was observed for directed air-jet sprayer. The obtained data points on the need of changes in recommendations concerning the use of plant protection products.

Research work on the new assessment of environmental indicators using equipment from the PEMS group (Portable Emission Measurement Systems) with motor vehicles is being developed. Due to the miniaturization of equipment, there are new measurement possibilities for more and more numerous groups of vehicles, including two-wheelers. The article presents the research and a summary of the results of a moped equipped with a two-stroke engine, approved in accordance with the Euro 3 standard. The research object is mainly used for driving in urban traffic. Therefore, the research route was created as the first communication frame in the Poznań agglomeration. In the analysis of the results, the author’s M toxicity index was proposed, which is based on the assumption that CO2 emission is a measure of the correctness of the combustion process. The equipment from the PEMS-AxionR/S+ group, characterized by small dimensions and low weight, was used to determine the actual motion parameters and the emission of toxic compounds. In the analysis of the measurement results, dimensionless indicators of toxicity M of gaseous compounds were determined and a comparative analysis was made with the values of other objects obtained in the course of previous research (motorcycle, passenger car, off-road vehicle, hybrid bus and agricultural tractor). Due to the engine design (two-stroke type), the worst environmental indicators were obtained for CO and HC compared to other tested vehicles.

The paper assesses the effectiveness of the European Union’s Emission Trading System, which was launched in 2005 to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the bloc. Initially, the system covered around 11,000 energy-intensive industrial installations. The authors examine the EU’s “cap-and-trade scheme” in terms of the Pigovian taxation and Coase bargaining models, two classic instruments for the internalization of externalities. The approach differs depending on which method is used for the initial allocation of emission allowances. Currently, the predominant method in the EU is the so-called costless grandfathering, which is equivalent to the model proposed by Coase, according to the authors. In the course of the analysis, Pytka and Kuszewski assess the effectiveness of the cap-and-trade scheme by employing two alternative approaches, an econometric analysis based on a test of linear restrictions and a model using a “differences-in-differences” estimator. For the linear-restriction models, data for EU countries from 2003 and 2005 were used, whereas the differences-in-differences analysis was carried out using data for EU countries and a control group of non-EU countries for the 2003-2007 period. The analysis shows that the system is ineffective in its current form, the authors conclude.

Handel zbywalnymi uprawnieniami do emisji CO2 jest jednym z instrumentów ekonomicznych ochrony środowiska. Został on wprowadzony w celu znalezienia sposobu na efektywniejszą kosztowo redukcję emisji gazów cieplarnianych. Stopień osiągania tego celu zależy m.in. od sposobu rozdziału uprawnień do emisji pomiędzy uczestników systemu i w znaczący sposób wpływa na poziom kosztów ich funkcjonowania. W artykule przedstawiono obecnie stosowane metody rozdziału uprawnień pomiędzy uczestników systemu EU ETS, jak również opisano dotychczasowe doświadczenia w zakresie organizacji aukcji uprawnień do emisji CO2.
The trading of greenhouse gas emission allowances is one of the economic instruments of environmental protection. It has been introduced in order to find a cost-effective way of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The success of this objective depends on the method in which allowances are allocated between system participants, which in turn significantly affects the costs to the participants. The article presents the methods currently used in emission allowance allocation between EU ETS participants and describes the experience that was gained in organizing the auctioning of greenhouse gas emission allowances.

Energy efficiency has a central role to play in achieving decarbonisation targets in the transport system by changing the demand for mobility (eg. by influencing on peoples behaviors) and improving the performance of the fleet. In recent years there has been an increase of use of private transport, partly due to the recent pandemic and the reduced choice of public transport. People's travel habits have changed in frequency and motivation due to the reduced number of seats on public transport, due to social distancing but also due to online education and teleworking. This increase of use private cars has led to an increase in environmental emissions as a result of the high proportion of vehicles with combustion engines in urban areas. The highest concentrations have been recorded at road intersections and in particular at roundabout configurations where there is a higher number of stop-and-go's overall. The increasing importance of air pollution from vehicle traffic has suggested that environmental considerations should be added to these aspects as a criterion for intersection design. Several studies in the literature analyze the environmental emissions generated by vehicle traffic using different methods such as on-site recording, mathematical modeling of dispersion phenomena, micro-simulation of vehicle traffic, use of appropriately equipped vehicles with sensors. This paper presents a comparison between the results obtained from the Portable Emission Measurement System (PEMS) and the results obtained from the VERSIT+ emission model. Specifically, using a Portable Emission Measurement Systems (PEMS) installed on a series of test cars, instantaneous CO2 and NOX emissions were measured on repeated trips along two-lane roundabout intersections. The study was carried out by examining a selected two-lane roundabout in the city of Rzeszow (Poland) using 9 different vehicles fueled by petrol, diesel, and LPG. The results show that the investigated VERSIT+ emission model used led to an inaccuracies in the calculation of CO2 and NOx emissions. Furthermore, current micro-scale emission models may not estimate emissions of harmful exhaust components with sufficient accuracy due to the specificities of roundabout driving. Therefore, there is a strong demand for the development of new emission models, adapted to the driving behavior of drivers appropriate for different infrastructure objects such as roundabouts

European climate and energy policy will have a great impact on the European and Polish energy markets. Moreover, it will have an influence on broad realms of social and economic activity. This raises the necessity of taking concrete strategic measures, especially on the governmental level. EU climate and energy policy also entails sizeable investment requirements and places important demands on the modernization programme for the energy sector. This spells the need to develop broad dialogue between the government and society. The above gives the background behind the appointment of the biggest Polish think tank in 2009 – namely, the Public Board of the National Programme for the Reduction of Emissions. In the Polish context the authors herein analyze the European climate and energy package, European Union policy regarding the reduction of emissions, and the Polish efforts taken in this field. The authors also describe the role of the Public Board of the National Programme for the Reduction of Emissions and its tasks. In conclusion they present policy recommendations and results in the area of fulfilling European obligations and conducting an infrastructural modernization programme in Poland.
Les politiques énergie-climat européennes auront un grand impact sur le marché de l’énergie européen et polonais. En plus, elles auront une influence sur les différentes sphères de l’activité sociale et économique. D’ici, la nécessité de réaliser des actions stratégiques spécifiques, surtout au niveau gouvernemental. Les politiques énergieclimat influencent aussi les besoins d’investissement et le périmètre du programme de modernisation dans le secteur de l’énergie. Il est alors nécessaire de promouvoir un vaste dialogue entre le gouvernement et la société. Les résultats indiqués constituent un arrière-plan pour l’établissement du plus grand “think tank” polonais en 2009 – le Conseil Publique du Programme National de Réduction des Émissions. Dans le contexte polonais, les auteurs analyseront le packet énergie-climat, les politiques de réduction des émissions de l’UE et les actions polonaises réalisées dans ce domaine. Les auteurs décriront aussi le rôle et les tâches du Conseil Publique du Programme National de Réduction des Émissions. Dans la conclusion, ils présenteront les recommandations et les résultats dans le domaine de l’accomplissement des obligations européennes et de l’implantation du programme de modernisation d’infrastructure en Pologne.

The share of road transport accounts for more than 85% of the total structure of freight transportation. In this process, mainly motor vehicles are used to carry out the freight work. In addition to them, forklifts are also used, whose task is to load and unload goods. These vehicles are categorized as NRMM (Non-Road Mobile Machinery). Forklift trucks have internal combustion or electric drive. The paper presents an analysis of the emission of pollutants and fuel consumption from forklift trucks equipped with diesel and LPG power. The study uses the author's test taking into account the raising/lowering of a pallet, a loaded and unloaded run. The measurements were made in the warehouse and outside the warehouse using the Portable Emission Measurement System (PEMS) equipment. The aim was to show the influence of loading conditions on the emission of pollutants and fuel consumption.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest identyfikacja i usystematyzowanie zależności pomiędzy polityką klimatyczną a polityką fiskalną. Jest to aspekt który powinien być uwzględniany w procesie tworzenia regulacji w obszarze ochrony środowiska, ponieważ może mieć istotny wpływ na gospodarcze konsekwencje wprowadzanych rozwiązań i w efekcie również na stopień ich społecznej akceptacji.
The main goal of the climate policy is to prevent excessive concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. However, this policy also has a significant impact in the economic dimension as well as in the tax system. This article identifies and systemizes the most important channels of the impact of GHG emissions mitigation on fiscal policy. Division of identified effects into three categories was introduced: direct, stemming from the rules of this policy, mainly from fees charged to GHG emitting companies, indirect, which are the result of changes in economic activity caused by the direct effect, and derived effect, resulting from the method of recycling of climate-based revenues adopted by the authorities.

Opis:
Air quality problems in cities are often a cause for worry. The air quality index is increasing daily, leading to an increase in cancer and many respiratory problems. Road transport in an urban area is a significant cause of air pollution. The vehicles must meet Indian emission regulations for which the emissions are measured using legally mandated standard driving cycles that did not accurately reflect real-world driving emissions because of varying traffic conditions, meteorological conditions, driving behaviour, vehicle power, performance, etc. This study focuses on real-time emissions of gaseous pollutants hydrocarbon (HC), carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), and nitric oxide (NO) from vehicle exhaust pipes under heterogeneous traffic conditions. The emissions were measured using a Portable Emission Measurement System (PEMS). The PEMS used was an AVL MDS 450 analyser mounted on the vehicle, and onroad emissions were captured. The test sample consists of four passenger vehicles with varying engine sizes, manufacturers, and fuel. The test route comprises city and highway areas, and it was discovered that the emissions were reduced by 40 to 70% on highways compared to the city. In petrol BSIV and BSVI engines, the emission was reduced to 41.73% for CO, 46.90% for HC, and 64% for NO in the city area. Speed and emissions scatter graphs were plotted for the vehicles, and it was found that in the city area, the optimum speed for less emission is between 30-40 km/h, and on highways, the optimum speed is 80-90 km/h. The emissions were also sensitive to the rate and frequency of acceleration and decelerations. This type of study is very limited in India, and more such studies are required for the assessment of air quality in metropolitan areas and successful traffic management strategies, as well as for determining instantaneous projections of pollutant emissions.

This paper investigates the relation between the prices of CO2 emission allowances in the EU ETS (Emission Trading System) and wholesale prices of electricity in Poland. Linear regression models were used to assess carbon price pass-through rate to wholesale electricity prices during the entire III phase of ETS (2013-2020). It has been found that the entire cost of CO2 emission allowances was included in the wholesale electricity price. As expected, the peak transmission parameter is higher than the off-peak one. Nevertheless, the difference is small and statistically insignificant. Hence the model does not allow for any far-reaching conclusions in this regard. Results show that electricity producers were able to pass the entire emission-related costs to the customers, which might raise a question of whether EU ETS is an effective tool to give sufficient incentives to decarbonise electricity production.
W artykule zbadano zależność pomiędzy cenami uprawnień do emisji gazów cieplarnianych w systemie EU ETS (unijny system handlu uprawnieniami do emisji), a hurtowymi cenami energii elektrycznej w Polsce. Wykorzystano modele regresji liniowej do oszacowania parametru transmisji cen uprawnień do emisji na hurtowe ceny energii elektrycznej podczas III fazy EU ETS (2013-2020). Wyniki modelowania wykazały, że cały koszt uprawnień do emisji CO2 był uwzględniany w hurtowej cenie energii elektrycznej. Zgodnie z oczekiwaniami szczytowy parametr transmisji okazał się wyższy niż pozaszczytowy, niemniej jednak różnica jest niewielka i statystycznie nieistotna, model nie pozwala więc na wyciąganie daleko idących wniosków w tym zakresie. Wyniki pokazują, że producenci energii elektrycznej byli w stanie przerzucić całość kosztów związanych z emisjami na odbiorców, co może rodzić pytanie, czy EU ETS jest skutecznym narzędziem dającym wystarczające zachęty do dekarbonizacji produkcji energii elektrycznej.

The article discusses the possibility of determining the environmental indicators for vehicles of different categories in relation to CO2 emissions. These are called toxicity indicators because they concern the compounds: CO, THC and NOx. Three Euro V compliant vehicles with different propulsion systems types were used for the study: a 0.9 dm3 urban passenger car with a SI engine and a start-stop system, a 2.5 dm3 off-road vehicle with a CI engine, and a city bus with a hybrid drive system in series configuration and a CI engine with a displacement of 6.7 dm3. Measurements were made in actual operating conditions in the Poznan agglomeration using a portable emissions measurement system (PEMS). The paper presents the characteristics of the operating time shares of vehicles and propulsion systems as well as CO2 emissions depending on the engine load and crankshaft rotational speed for individual vehicles. The determined toxicity indicators allowed to indicate their usefulness, to make comparisons between tested vehicles, and to identify directions for further work on the application and interpretation of these indicators.

The basic problem in terms of measuring exhaust emissions is the approval tests of traction vehicles, which are carried out on engine dynamometers. Therefore, it is impossible to obtain reliable results concerning their actual impact on the natural environment. It is therefore advisable to carry out the tests in real operation conditions, as is the case for road vehicles for which RDE (Real Driving Emissions) tests are carried out. The latest Stage V emission standards push for the introduction of this type of test, but no limit values for toxic exhaust gases have been established and no test guidelines have been defined for assessing actual emissions. This article describes the issues related to the legislative guidelines for non-road vehicles in force in Europe, as well as the measurement tools used, such as mobile equipment for measuring emissions of PEMS (Portable Emissions Measurement Systems) and newly developed emission gates. Additionally, the paper presents examples of locomotive exhaust emission tests in real operating conditions. The aim of the measurements was to assess the emission of toxic compounds against the relevant standards. The subject of the research was a diesel locomotive type T448.P equipped with a modernized internal combustion engine.

At the beginning of the twenty-first century, one of the major challenges of humanity was to reduce the negative effects of civilization development. Besides the engines used in road vehicles there is a large group of engines for non-road applications. This group includes motor propelled vehicles not used on the road NRMM (Non-Road Mobile Machinery). Engines of these vehicles, among all of the non-road applications, are characterized by very specific working conditions that do not allow for them to be qualified for propulsion engines. The main problem with these vehicles is the particulate matter and nitrogen oxides emission. Rail vehicles operating conditions these requirements take by the similar way, as having a wide range of rolling stock markedly alters the environmental impact of these vehicles. Thus it becomes necessary to consider the issue of the method of evaluation of engine emissions in rail vehicles in terms of their actual operating conditions. Thus, efforts to assess the actual level of emissivity for rail vehicles and attempts to improve it are necessary and justified.

The following article presents the method of verification of EURO III standard in real conditions for special vehicles. The test object qualified as a special vehicle was tested in road conditions along a defined route, and then the obtained measurement results were compared to the exhaust emission standard (EURO III) applicable for this vehicle. A method of comparing the emission factors in road conditions with the indicators obtained on the engine dynamometer was proposed. An AVL mobile exhaust gas analyzers PEMS dedicated for RDE road tests were used in the research.

W marcu 2007 roku przywódcy państw członkowskich Unii Europejskiej zadecydowali o przyjęciu nowych celów w zakresie obniżenia emisji dwutlenku węgla, zwiększenia wykorzystania odnawialnych zasobów energii oraz poprawy efektywności wykorzystania energii do roku 2020, jak również w późniejszym okresie, do roku 2050. Decyzję tę podjęto w kontekście narastających problemów zmian klimatycznych oraz zwiększającego się zapotrzebowania na energię. W konsekwencji tych postanowień, w styczniu 2008 roku Komisja Europejska opublikowała Pakiet Klimatyczno-Energetyczny, który zawierał propozycje dyrektyw wdrażających przyjęte postanowienia polityczne do wspólnotowego porządku prawnego, w tym regulacje dotyczące zmian w systemie handlu pozwoleniami na emisje gazów cieplarnianych, nową ramową dyrektywę dotyczącą promocji energii z zasobów odnawialnych oraz propozycję dyrektywy umożliwiającej geologiczne składowanie dwutlenku węgla. 17 grudnia 2008 roku Pakiet został przyjęty przez Parlament Europejski, po wcześniejszych uzgodnieniach Rady Unii Europejskiej. Ponadto, w listopadzie 2008 roku Komisja Europejska zaprezentowała Pakiet dokumentów dotyczących efektywności energetycznej, będących uzupełnieniem celów przyjętych w marcu 2007 roku. Regulacje zawarte w tych Pakietach konkretyzują ambicje Wspólnoty w zakresie przeciwdziałania zmianom klimatu na następną dekadę i wskazują kierunek działania w następnych dziesięcioleciach. W artykule przedstawiono zakres regulacji przyjętych w Pakiecie Klimatyczno-Energetycznym.
In March 2007 leaders of the Member States made decisions concerning new targets in the field of carbon dioxide reduction, increase of use renewable energy and improvement of energy efficiency till 2020. Those decisions were made in the context of climate change processes and growing energy demand. Consequently, in January 2008, European Commission announced the Climate and Energy Package, including proposals on new EU regulations. In December 2008, the EU negotiations on legislation concerning the climate change and energy package were completed in the Council and European Parliament. The Package is to be officially published in Spring 2009. Finally, the Package includes: a Directive on revision of the greenhouse gas emission allowance trading system, the Communication on effort-sharing targets for emissions reductions, a Directive on the geological storage of carbon dioxide, a Directive on promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources, new legislation in order to set emissions standards for new passenger cars and revision of the fuel quality Directive. At present negotiations in the EU Comitology procedures, detailed issues of the new legislation are discussed. In this article, new EU legislation included in the Package is presented.

W opracowaniu porównano szacunkowe ilości emisji gazów cieplarnianych (GHG) uwalniane z produkcji roślinnej i zwierzęcej na terenie gospodarstwa RZD Grabów w warunkach stosowania dwóch systemów produkcji (konwencjonalnego i ekologicznego). Uwzględniono emisję gazów ze źródeł bezpośrednich i pośrednich. Do oszacowania emisji poszczególnych gazów cieplarnianych wykorzystano model Holos 1.1.2. Model pozwala przewidzieć zmiany w wielkości emisji wywołane wprowadzonymi zmianami w systemie produkcji, a tym samym poznawać możliwości ograniczenia emisji gazów cieplarnianych w gospodarstwie rolnym. Badania wykazały, że całkowita emisja GHG w systemie konwencjonalnym wyniosła 4,67 Mg eq CO2·r-¹, a w ekologicznym 3,44 Mg eq CO2·r-¹. Mniejsza ilość w systemie ekologicznym wynikała z ograniczenia emisji głównie w produkcji roślinnej z powodu braku stosowania azotu mineralnego i zmniejszenia liczby zabiegów agrotechnicznych (zmniejszenia ilości zużytego paliwa). W całkowitej emisji GHG dominujący udział miała produkcja zwierzęca.
The paper presents an assessment of greenhouse gas release from plant and animal production in the Agricultural Experimental Station in Grabów. The study included gaseous emissions from direct and indirect sources. Obtained results allowed to determine the possibility of reduction of greenhouse gas emission from farms based on the production system e.g. conventional versus ecological one. To estimate various greenhouse gas emissions a Holos 1.1.2 model was used. The model allows to predict changes in emissions resulting from changes in the production system and thus to explore the possibility of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from farms. The study showed that the total GHG emissions were 4.67 and 3.44 Mg CO2 eq·y-¹ in the conventional and ecological system, respectively. The lower value in the ecological system resulted mainly from reduced emissions in crop production due to a lack of fertilisation with mineral nitrogen and to limited number of agricultural treatments (lower fuel consumption). Emissions form livestock dominated in the total GHG emission.

Opis:
Climate policy is a complexed area of cooperation between Member States and European Union institutions. The ambitious goals that the EU sets for itself in this matter are not always possible to be met by all Member States, hence the ability to work out compromise solutions is of great importance. Member States have different internal conditions, which determine the objectives of their economic and energy policies, therefore they do not always have convergent interests in this area. The decision-making centre where EU climate protection policy is created is: the European Council, where key elements of this policy are agreed (such as reduction targets), and so-called an ‘institutional triangle’, i.e. EU Council, European Parliament and European Commission which are directly involved into the legislative process. This configurations is a platform where cooperation of the Member States manifests itself in various forms and intensity and where these countries may attempt to force their interests in the process of creating EU policy. The authors present the legal bases of the European Union's competences in the field of climate policy and the role of the EU institutions in its creation with particular focus on mechanisms that allow Member States to influence the shape of that policy.

The paper presents results of a parametric analysis of a hightemperature nuclear-reactor cogeneration system. The aim was to investigate the power efficiency of the system generating heat for a high-temperature technological process and electricity in a Brayton cycle and additionally in organic Rankine cycles using R236ea and R1234ze as working fluids. The results of the analyses indicate that it is possible to combine a 100 MW high-temperature gas-cooled nuclear reactor with a technological process with the demand for heat ranging from 5 to 25 MW, where the required temperature of the process heat carrier is at the level of 650◦C. Calculations were performed for various pressures of R236ea at the turbine inlet. The cogeneration system maximum power efficiency in the analysed cases ranges from ~35.5% to ~45.7% and the maximum share of the organic Rankine cycle systems in electric power totals from ~26.9% to ~30.8%. If such a system is used to produce electricity instead of conventional plants, carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced by about 216.03–147.42 kt/year depending on the demand for process heat, including the reduction achieved in the organic Rankine cycle systems by about 58.01–45.39 kt/year (in Poland).

An alternative method for analysis of acoustic emission (AE) signals generated by partial discharges (PD), based on a correlation between voltage phase run and AE pulses, so called phase resolved PD pattern (PRPD), is presented in the paper. PRPD pattern is a well-known analysis tool commonly used in such PD diagnostic methods as conventional electrical and UHF ones. Moreover, it yields various signal analysis abilities and allows a direct correlation indication between measurement results achieved using different methods. An original PRPD measurement methodology applied for AE method as well as some exemplary measurement results and further data analysis capabilities are presented in the paper. Also a comparative analysis of PRPD patterns achieved using various measurement methods and different PD source configurations have been investigated. All presented experiments were done under laboratory conditions using PD model sources immersed in the insulation oil. The main purpose of the presented research is to indicate an all-embracing analytical tool that yields an ability to direct comparison (qualitative as well as quantitative) of the AE measurement results with other commonly applied PD measurement methods. The presented results give a solid fundamental for further research work concerning a direct correlation method for AE and other described in the paper diagnostic techniques, mainly in order to continue PD phenomena analysis and assessment in real life high voltage apparatus insulation systems under normal onsite operation conditions.

Badania emisji związków szkodliwych spalin w testach na hamowni podwoziowej są jednymi z najważniejszych i najbardziej skomplikowanych badań, jakim są poddawane samochody napędzane silnikami spalinowymi. W artykule omówiono szczegółowo jeden z najważniejszych elementów laboratorium badania emisji spalin, a mianowicie układ poboru i rozcieńczania spalin (tzw. system CVS – Constant Volume Sample – stała objętość próbkowania) oraz przeanalizowano bilans masy w poszczególnych elementach układu CVS, który ma istotny wpływ na dokładność pomiarów emisji spalin.
Exhaust emission measurements on the chassis dynamometer are one of the most important and most complex tests which are performed on vehicles driven by combustion engines. This paper describes in detail one of the most important components of the exhaust emission laboratory, i.e. the CVS (Constant Volume Sample) sampling system. Moreover, balance of the mass of the individual components of the CVS system which could have a substantial impact on the accuracy of the emission measurements are analysed.

Spektroskopia emisyjna plazmy pozwala na precyzyjny dobór składu chemicznego osadzanej powłoki i tym samym otrzymywanie warstw wierzchnich o zakładanym składzie. W artykule przedstawiono realizację modułu spektralnej analizy i diagnostyki plazmy w stanowisku badawczym procesów PVD. Umożliwia on prowadzenia badań związanych z modernizacją istniejących technologii lub opracowywanie nowych, wykorzystujących pętle regulacji z sygnałami spektroskopowymi. Przedstawiono dwa układy sterowania z wykorzystaniem optycznej diagnostyki plazmy. Pierwszym z nich jest sterowanie dozowaniem gazów technologicznych dla utrzymania zadanego stosunku dwóch sygnałów spektralnych w procesie azotowania jarzeniowego. W drugim układzie moduł analizy optycznej zastosowano do kontroli składu plazmy w procesach rozpylania magnetronowego. Opisano możliwości zastosowania modułu także w innych procesach plazmowych.
Plasma emission spectroscopy allows for the precise selection of the chemical composition of the deposited coating to obtain the surface layers of the intended composition. The article presents the analysis and diagnostic module of a PVD process research stand. It allows conducting research related to the upgrading of existing technologies or developing new technologies, using control loops with spectroscopic signals. Two control systems using optical plasma diagnostics are presented. The first is the control of technological gases to maintain a specified ratio of two spectral signals in the plasma nitriding process. In the second, an optical analysis module is used for checking the composition of plasma in the magnetron sputtering process. The applicabilities of the other plasma processes are also described.

The article presents the simulation of damage to the engine power (EP) system components and to verify the impact of damage on toxic components emission. The other aim of the article is to simulate the failure of two sensors (the rail pressure sensor and the flow meter), which directly affect the toxicity, and to analyse signal paths during simulated damage. Simulation studies were conducted using the Oliver D60 ophthalmometer following the free acceleration method. Studies included driving a Toyota Avensis powered by 2.2D-4D diesel engine with 2AD-FTV designation and recording of thirty signals in the EP engine control system. The results will allow to correct the exhaust gas composition model.

The article presents the developed methods for diagnosing and analysing signals from injection systems of marine engines. As a source signal, the authors use elastic waves of acoustic emission. The essential fact in the case here considered is that the high frequency of signal from working elements of the injection system comes from a close source directly related to the change of the working parameters of the element (system). Characteristically for elastic waves of acoustic emission, low frequencies (e.g. those from other sources, such as machines in the engine room) are in this case attenuated. Therefore, the proper selection of the method for the analysis allows us accurately diagnose the injection system of a working engine.

This paper presents comparative analysis of various acoustic signals expected during partial discharge (PD) measurements in operating power transformer. Main purpose of the paper is to yield relevant and reliable method to distinguish between various acoustic emission (AE) signals emitted by PD and other sources, with particular consideration of real-life results rather than laboratory simulations. Therefore, selected examples of real-life AE signals registered in seven different power transformers, under normal operation conditions, within few years are showed and analyzed. Five scenarios are investigated, which represent five types of AE sources: PD generated by artificial sources, and next four real-life sources (including PD in working transformer, oil flow, oil pumps and core). Several different signal processing methods are applied and compared in order to identify the PD signals. As a result, an energy patterns analysis based on the wavelet decomposition is found as the most reliable tool for identification of PD signals. The presented results may significantly support the process of interpretation of the PD measurement results, and may be used by field engineers as well as other researchers involved in PD analysis using AE method. Finally, observed properties also provide a solid basis for establishing or improving complete classification method based on the artificial intelligence algorithms.

Control of diesel fuel injection is very important and has influence not only at engine operating conditions but also at emission of toxic gases as NOx, HC, and Particulate Matter (PM) are effect of combustion process. Directly observing of combustion process is very difficult, but implementation to injection control algorithm procedures based on additional sensors as knock sensor, cylinder pressure sensor and observing of rotational speed course could give enough information to optimize control algorithm. In traditional diffusion-burn diesel combustion start of combustion occurs a cetane-number based time delay after the start of the fuel injection. To fulfill of new emission standards is need to observing not only start of combustion but also whole combustion process. In the paper conception of injection control system applied with combustion process observer based on additional sensors. Closed-loop feedback control of cylinder pressure sensor and advanced control algorithm with high-resolution rotational speed sensor offers the potential to improve controllability of combustion process. Advanced control system based on heat release estimated from cylinder pressure and rotational speed fluctuations enabling improving engine exhaust emissions, engine performance and reduced noise emission. Introducing into control system a low cost glow plug integrated cylinder pressure sensor allow to achieve complete injection control system with advanced functions which could be very effective also in aspect of fuel consumption reduction.

The main purpose of the presented research is to investigate the partial discharge (PD) phenomenon variability under long-term AC voltage with particular consideration of the selected physical quantities changes while measured and registered by the acoustic emission method (AE). During the research a PD model source generating surface discharges is immersed in the brand new insulation mineral oil. Acoustic signals generated by the continuously occurred PDs within 168 hours are registered. Several qualitative and quantitative indicators are assigned to describe the PD variability in time. Furthermore, some longterm characteristics of the applied PD model source in mineral oil, are also presented according to acoustic signals emitted by the PD. Finally, various statistical tools are applied for the results analysis and presentation. Despite there are numerous contemporary research papers dealing with long-term PD analysis, such complementary and multiparametric approach has not been presented so far, regarding the presented research. According to the presented research from among all assigned indicators there are discriminated descriptors that could depend on PD long-term duration. On the grounds of the regression models analysis there are discovered trends that potentially allow to apply the results for modeling of the PD variability in time using the acoustic emission method. Subsequently such an approach may potentially support the development and extend the abilities of the diagnostic tools and maintenance policy in electrical power industry.

Catalytic exhaust gas aftertreatment devices fitted to combustion engines are susceptible to partial deactivation as their operating time progresses. This includes selective catalytic reduction (SCR) reactors meant for NOx emission control. There are several known deactivation mechanisms of SCR reactors already analyzed in detail in the literature. This paper, however, approaches the analysis of reactor deactivation by comparison of exhaust gas characteristics over repeatable cycle for fresh and aged samples of a SCR reactor for non-road mobile machinery. The research aims to outline which parameters describing the SCR reactor’s performance are most affected by its ageing. In order to do that, fresh and aged samples of the reactor were tested under the Non Road Steady Cycle. The acquired emission results, including concentration traces of particular compounds were analyzed. The specific NOx emission of the aged reactor was significantly higher than that of the fresh one. The NOx conversion efficiency of both reactors was found similar at periods of steady engine operation. It was recognized that during transient conditions the NOx conversion efficiency of the aged reactor was decreased. It was found that the main factor contributing to that phenomenon is the drop in the ammonia storage capacity of the aged SCR sample.

The Part II of the article on the issue of road charges presents an electronic system used in Poland, i.e. ViaTOLL, its operation, i.e. the charges rates, dependent on the vehicles’ environmental conditions such as EURO classes. A selective comparison has been conducted of electronic toll rates in force in Poland and a few countries of the Common Europe. The article is summed up by the analysis of the European Commission actions to introduce a uniform system of road charges across the EU, the so-called EETS (European Electronic Toll Service).

The paper presents selected results of tests on the Fiat Panda I car powered by 1.2 dm3 spark ignition engine. The engine had production installed fuel system with the single-point petrol injection. To improve its in-service performance, the engine was fitted with the multi-point injection fuel system. The assessment of the indicators of the work of the engine, fitted with single-point, or alternatively, multi-point injection fuel system, was conducted on the basis of the tests performed on the MAHA chassis dynamometer. First, tests were run for single-point injection fuel system. Next, the same tests were performed when the engine was fitted with the multi-point injection fuel system. In the tests, engine power, torque, fuel consumption and the concentrations of the exhaust gas components were measured. The latter included carbon monoxide CO, carbon dioxide C02, hydrocarbons HC, nitrogen oxides NOx, and oxygen 02. AVL Digas 4000 exhaust gas analyser was used to take measurements of the concentrations of the basic components of the exhaust gas and of the excess air ratio %u03BB. The investigations were conducted by performing the inertia test and by using the dynamometer to determine the basic indicators of the engine operation. In the investigations, the crankshaft rotational speed ranged from 1500 to 6500 rpm with 500 rpm step. The experimental results made it possible to evaluate how the manner and site of fuel delivery affect the engine -work indicators.

In the paper, there are presented a general description of the constructed measuring system 8AE-PD, the results of calibration of this system by the Hsu-Nielsen method as well as the testing of the measuring system during recording signals generated by Hsu-Nielsen sources in a steel plate and a modeled partial discharge (PD) source. There is also presented the methodology of investigations by the calibrated acoustic emission method. The results of analyses of PD signals coming from the modeled sources are given. In particular, there are described the properties of acoustic emission (AE) signals generated by the PDs as well as the dependencies of the peak-to-peak voltage Umm, the RMS voltage Urms and the descriptors of acronyms ADP and ADC on the apparent charge Q introduced by the modeled PD source. There are determined the limit values of the apparent charge Q introduced by the modeled PD source for which the recorded signal is identified as originating from the PDS.

Electromagnetic compatibility requirements for immunity tests have been presented and the emission levels of electromagnetic disturbances in adjustable speed power drive systems have been determined. The disturbances are divided into two groups: low-frequency (up to 50 harmonics of the power supply system) and high-frequency (above 150 kHz). The lack of legal regulations on permissible disturbance level in the frequency range from 2.5 kHz to 150 kHz has also been mentioned. This range is considered high frequency by the authors. Standarized compatibility levels and sample measured parameters of the electromagnetic environment have also been shown. An exemplary reaction of the drive to the most common disturbances in the power supply system has been presented.

Environmental regulations instigated the technological and procedural revolution in shipping. One of the challenges has been sulfur emission control areas (SECA) and requirement of fuel changeover. Initially, many reports anticipated that new grades of low sulfur fuels might increase various technical problems in ship operation. This research develops a simple and easy to use method of the failure severity and intensity assessment in relation to fuel changeover. The scale of failure rate in the ship’s fuel system was evaluated qualitatively and quantitively, using developed failure frequency indicator and the time between failure. Based on 77 records of fuel system failures collected on seven ships, it has been found that frequency of failures related to SECA fuel changeover is on average nearly three times higher compared to the rest of sailing time. Their severity did not significantly change, but the structure of failures changed considerably. The method and presented results may help in improvement of ship’s systems design and on-board operational procedures.

A computer model EUSS (Emission Uniformity on Sloping Surfaces) has been developed to design and evaluate the system capacity under operating conditions for drip irrigation system. And achieve the desired value of emission uniformity that is not significantly different according to the recommended values by applying it in field experiment located at Al-Slahia city, Egypt. The model has the ability to design the system by all of the common design techniques and have ability to customize any of them. EUSS model includes two main parts: crop water requirements, and hydraulic calculations of the system using metric unit system. It developed in graphical user interface of the programming language C-sharp (C#) by using Microsoft Visual Studio. The model database is containing the equations, tables and reference values to get more rapid and accurate results, and gives the opportunity for selecting some parameters such as: soil properties, characteristics of the corresponding crop, and climatic data. EUSS model allows the user to assume or set definite values, for example plot layout, land slopes and topography, the emitter characteristics and operating conditions.

Environmental protection, as rational shaping of the environment, management of environmental resources following the principle of sustainable development, and counteracting pollution, is integrally related to the urban area. Therefore, most activities and initiatives are aimed at environmental protection in the cities, which are the living environment for half of the world’s population. Therefore, the necessary action is to reduce the impact of urban transport on the environment. In particular, increased road traffic in urban areas is a constant increase in pollutants introduced into the environment in the form of solid, liquid and gaseous substances, harmful to people, the environment and spatial structures. One such negative impact of transport is the emission of CO2 into the atmosphere. In the process of limiting it, actions are taken to shape urban transport systems and the mobility of city residents. In order to identify individual processes that are components of these activities, literature research was carried out, the results of which are presented in the article.

In the paper, the results of investigations on the properties of acoustic emission signals generated in a tested pressure vessel are presented. The investigations were performed by repeating several Times the following procedure: an increase in pressure, maintaining a given pressure level, a further increase in pressure, and then maintaining the pressure at new determined level. During the tests the acoustic emission signals were recorded by the measuring system 8AE-PD with piezoelectric sensors D9241A. The used eight-channel measuring system 8AE-PD enables the monitoring, recording and then basic and advanced analysis of signals. The results of basic analysis carried out in domain of time and the results of advanced analysis carried out in the discrimination threshold domain of the recorded acoustic emission signals are presented in the paper. In the framework of the advanced analysis, results are described by the defined by the author descriptors with acronyms ADC, ADP and ADNC. Such description is based on identifying the properties of amplitude distributions of acoustic emission signals by assigning them the level of advancement. It is shown that for signals including continoues AE or single burst AE signals descriptions of such registered signals by means of ADC, ADP and ADNC descriptors and by Upp and Urms descriptors provide identical ordering of registered acoustic emission signals. For complex signals, the description using ADC, ADP and ADNC descriptors based on the analysis of amplitude distributions of recorded signals gives the order of signals with more accurate connection with deformational processes being sources of acoustic emission signals.

The utmost attention was directed to the expert diagnostic system using the acoustic emission method for the evaluation of the condition of the power transformer insulation measured.

The paper presents the results of on-road (city traffic) exhaust emission and fuel consumption tests related to a vehicle fitted with a start-stop system. The tests of different types of vehicle cruise cycles were performed on road portions of several kilometers under different traffic conditions. For the tests a portable exhaust analyzer SEMTECH DS was used. It measured the concentrations of the exhaust components and the exhaust gas mass flow. As a result the authors determined the usefulness of the engine disengaging systems in vehicles under the conditions of city traffic.
W artykule przedstawiono rezultaty z badań emisji związków szkodliwych z silnika oraz zużycia paliwa pojazdu wyposażonego w układ start-stop w rzeczywistych warunkach ruchu miejskiego. Testy dla różnych typów przejazdów wykonywano na odcinkach kilkudziesięciu kilometrów w różnych warunkach drogowych. Do pomiarów stężenia związków toksycznych wykorzystano mobilny analizator do badań toksyczności SEMTECH DS firmy SENSORS. Analizator umożliwiał pomiar stężenia związków szkodliwych, mierząc jednocześnie masowe natężenie spalin. W efekcie otrzymanych wyników, określony został sens stosowania układów wyłączających silnik w warunkach ruchu miejskiego.

Opis:
A scheme has been developed to be utilized for solving the interaction between wing aerodynamic loads and the flexibility of wing structures under a quasi static assumption. The interaction is implemented through a link between the nodes of finite element model and the grids of transonic small disturbance model. The particular finite element responses, namely translational displacement vectors (TDV), are utilised for reconstructing the deflected wing surfaces. So in each iteration, the updated surfaces are involved as the parent for regenerating the TSD grids. The criteria of the Euclidean norm is applied for evaluating the convergency of aero-structure interaction. Catia-V5, is fully employed to manage three dimensional geometries for developing the model of wing structures, calculating grids and aerodynamic loads, as well as for reconstructing the updated wing surfaces. Numerous functions and objects of Catia are employed by conducting particular accesses via component object models using Microsoft Visual Basic.Net. A case study is excersized to demonstrate the interaction in transonic speed. The results shown that the scheme is very good in the way performing the interaction in quasi static condition. The utilization of TDV for generating the deflected wing surfaces indicates the capability of high fidelity deformations with respect to the complexity of finite element model

The paper presents the method of acoustic emission (AE) in the study of the state of insulation systems with air as the high-voltage insulation. The tested object was a planar system of electrodes made of aluminum. In addition, the analysis of AE signals and the impact on these signals the presence of dielectric coating on the electrode surfaces of aluminum was tested. We examined the influence of saturation (seal) these coatings on the dielectric strength of the insulation system. The study was conducted at an air pressure values 1·105, 3·105 and 5·105 Pa. The strength of the electrical systems were tested at alternating voltage with a frequency of 50 Hz. Noted pros and cons of using the method of EA in the context of the assessment of high-voltage electric insulation devices. The presented results confirm the possibility of using acoustic emission method, not only for identifying vulnerable areas, but also to predict the time of of further use of high voltage device.

Wizualizacja parametrów pola akustycznego to stosunkowo nowa metoda badawcza, która umożliwia zobrazowanie parametrów charakteryzujących pole akustyczne w konkretnych punktach przestrzeni w pobliżu maszyny. Obrazy uzyskane w ten sposób mogą mieć duże zastosowanie w analizie prototypowych urządzeń, budownictwie, a także w analizie pola akustycznego wokół maszyn przemysłowych. W artykule opisano sposób działania przykładowego, mobilnego stanowiska, wizualizującego pole akustyczne wokół maszyn. Omówiono również wyniki przeprowadzonych badań emisji hałasu na przykładzie zestawu głośnikowego i pompy próżniowej.
Visualization of the parameters of acoustic field is a relatively new research technique that allows for illustrate the parameters characterizing the acoustic field for specific points of space near the machine. Images obtained in this way have many applications in the analysis of prototype devices, construction, as well as in the analysis of the acoustic field around industrial machines. The article presents the principles of operation of the mobile experimental setup. The results of studies of noise emission on the example of loudspeaker set and vacuum pump are also discussed.

Genezą podjęcia tematu są głębokie zmiany zachodzących w gospodarce nawozami naturalnymi w ostatnich latach w Polsce. Wiąże się to zwłaszcza z intensyfikacją produkcji i przestawiania się wielu gospodarstw z hodowli obornikowej na gnojowicową, niekorzystną dla środowiska naturalnego. Sytuacja ta jest powodem opracowania narzędzia pozwalającego na oszacowanie poziomu emisji amoniaku do atmosfery podczas nawożenia gnojowicą. Dzięki identyfikacji głównych czynników zwiększających emisję, narzędzie to będzie przydatne również do redukcji jej wielkości.
The origin of undertaking this subject is related with the deep changes observed in manure management in Poland during last years. This is caused by intensification of animal production and changing the type of production from solid to liquid manure, which is unfovourable for agro-ecosystems. This situation is a base for creation of tool permissing the estimation of ammonia emission level during applied liquid manure. By Identification of the main factors raising the emission level, this tool will be used also for reduction of NH3 losses.

Znajomość emisji zanieczyszczeń z transportu, w tym z pojazdów samochodowych, jest potrzebna w celu oceny zmniejszenia emisji zanieczyszczeń niezbędnego do spełnienia wymagań norm czystości powietrza, sporządzania ocen oddziaływania na środowisko inwestycji w zakresie ochrony środowiska i transportu, czy też oceny skuteczności podejmowanych w kraju działań dotyczących ograniczenia zanieczyszczenia środowiska przez transport. Do przeprowadzania takich ocen niezbędna jest znajomość wskaźników emisji. Jednym ze źródeł emisji zanieczyszczeń z pojazdów jest układ zasilania paliwem. Emisja z układu zasilania jest umownie dzielona na trzy rodzaje: - powstającą w wyniku dobowej zmiany temperatury otoczenia, - powstającą po zatrzymaniu częściowo lub całkowicie nagrzanego silnika samochodu, - powstającą podczas jazdy. W stosowanych metodykach CORINAIR i MEET emisja z układu zasilania wyznaczana jest jako suma określonej w oddzielnych, niezależnych testach emisji powstającej w w/wym. warunkach. Metoda ta jest słuszna tylko w przypadku nieużywania pojazdu w ciągu doby. W pozostałych przypadkach stosowanie tej metody prowadzi do zawyżania wartości emisji z układu zasilania w rzeczywistych warunkach eksploatacji. W artykule porównano wyniki badań emisji z układu zasilania w rzeczywistych warunkach eksploatacji otrzymane za pomocą metodyk zalecanych przez CORINAIR i MEET oraz metodyką opracowaną w ITS.
The knowledge about the emissions from the transport, including motor vehicles, is needed to evaluate the emission reductions necessary to meet the requirements of air quality standards, preparation of environmental impact assessments of the investments into environmental protection and transport, or to evaluate the effectiveness of the country's actions to reduce environmental pollution from transport. To conduct such assessments it is necessary to know the emission indicators. One of the sources of emissions from vehicles is the fuel supply system. Emissions from the fuel supply are, by convention, divided into three types: - formed due to daily changes in ambient temperature, - arising after stopping, partially or fully, warmed-up car engine - produced during driving. In the CORINAIR and MEET methodologies used, the emission from the fuel supply system is determined as the sum of the, specified in separate independent tests, emissions occurring in the aforementioned conditions. This method is correct only in the case of the vehicle not being used in 24 hours. In other cases, the use of this method leads to an overstatement of the value of the emissions from the fuel supply system under real operating conditions. The article compares the results of the emissions tests from the fuel supply system under real operating conditions obtained using the methodology recommended by the CORINAIR and MEET and methodology developed at ITS.

Opis:
Transport is one of the most environmentally destructive branches of economy. It contributes to environmental degradation and influences negatively on human live. It should therefore seek to reduce the negative impact on the environment. The paper presents many aspects of development of the national transport system. In article characterized technical constraints and environmental issues, which are applicable to the designing of pro-ecological transport system. Presented in it also indicators of the proposed design solution quality. In shaping the pro-ecological system the special role plays environmental restrictions, because they mainly determine the quality of solutions in terms of minimizing the negative impact of transport on the environment. Technical factors are equally important, because they allow, among others, reducing the external costs of congestions and allow on the creation of transport tasks on the appropriate level. In particularly, EU requirements for sustainable development of the transport system, the components of the external costs arising from the sphere of transport, indicators and ecological limitations in designing of pro-ecological transport system, ecological limitations, technical limitations, indicators for assessing pro-ecological transport system are presented in the paper.

Transport is a sector that is said to be negatively affecting the environment. The continuous development of transport increases the negative impact on the environment and civilization. In the article authors present the parameters that were used to describe the size of harmful transport exhaust emissions, in particular by means of road transport and the factors affecting their size. The areas where the level of concentrations of air pollutants are exceeded in Poland were characterized and analysed. Also examples of the stream traffic distribution in the selected area of the transport network were presented.
