The task of this paper is identification of stresses in a homogeneous isotropic disc weakened with an eccentric circular hole which is loaded by pressure in the internal contour of the hole. By application of a complex variable method, the mathematical model that allows complete analytical solution of stresses of the disc is formed. The methodology can be applied for the solution of any disc weakened with an eccentric circular hole. The comparative analysis has shown a high accuracy of analytically obtained results with FEM results obtained by calculations in ANSYS 12 software package. The application of the results of this paper is of great importance for quality design and optimization of thin-walled structures of disc type weakened by a circular hole.
Zadaniem podjętym w artykule jest identyfikacja stanu naprężeń w jednorodnym, izotropowym dysku osłabionymmimośrodowo umiejscowionymwycięciem kołowym, obciążonym wzdłuż brzegu wewnętrznym naciskiem. Stosując metodę zmiennej zespolonej, w pracy sformułowano matematyczny model układu, który pozwolił na uzyskanie w pełni analitycznego opisu rozkładu naprężeń w dysku. Zastosowana metodologia, zdaniem autorów, może być użyta dla dowolnego dysku z mimośrodowym otworem o kształcie koła. W pracy przeprowadzono ponadto analizę porównawczą z wynikami uzyskanymi numerycznie za pomocą metody elementów skończonych z wykorzystaniem pakietu ANSYS 12. Otrzymane rezultaty badań mogą mieć duże znaczenie praktyczne z punktu widzenia jakości projektowania i optymalizacji cienkościennych konstrukcji zawierających elementy strukturalne z kołowym wycięciem.

We have compared maps of landslide activity and hazard, developed with the use of two different dendrochronological indicators: tree-ring eccentricity and reaction (compression) wood. The maps were prepared based on 125 Norway spruce (Picea abies L. Karst.) trees growing at 44 sampling points, distributed over an area of 3.75 km2. In general, the two maps show similar patterns of landslide activity. However, tree-ring eccentricity yielded a greater number of dated events (246) compared to compression wood (129). Besides the differences in the absolute values of dating results, the general landslide activity and hazard zonation based on both disturbances are similar. Both growth disturbances develop as a result of stem tilting. Eccentricity develops after slight tilting, while compression wood is developed when tilting is more significant. Because of the differences in the strength of disturbing factors, which cause the development of compression wood and growth eccentricity, the best approach would be to combine the results of dating obtained from the two methods. The dendrochronological analysis of tree growth disturbances (eccentric growth and compression wood) is a promising approach for determining landslide hazards in forested mountain areas and can be applied in spatial management.

The Brazilian split test on a centrally holed disc (referred to as a ring-disc specimen) is an important indirect method for determining the tensile strength of rock. This paper studies the effect of the diameter d of the center hole and its position, defined by the eccentricity b and the inclination angle of the eccentric hole, on the peak load, failure pattern and horizontal stress of the disc specimen via laboratory experiments and numerical modeling using the finite element method (FEM). Static Brazilian split tests are conducted on an intact disc and three types of holed discs: C-specimens containing a central hole with different diameters, EH-specimens with a horizontally eccentric hole and ER-specimens with a rotationally eccentric hole.

The paper deals with the working peculiarities of the support zones of reinforced concrete elements subject to bending with due account of the eccentric compression and tension. The authors performed simulation of the stress-strain behaviour of the indicated structures with the aid of “Lira” software which results are shown in the graphical and tabulated form. The performed simulation allowed of tracing the work of the studied sample beams till collapse. Such approach made it possible to single out and generalize the main collapse patterns of the inclined cross-sections of the reinforced concrete elements subject to bending on which basis the authors developed the improved method to calculate their strength (Karpiuk et al., 2019).

Based on the response of small-scale model square footing, the present paper shows the results of an experimental bearing capacity of eccentrically loaded square footing, near a slope sand bed. To reach this aim, a steel model square footing of (150 mm × 150 mm) and a varied sand relative density of 30%, 50% and 70% are used. The bearing capacity-settlement relationship of footing located at the edge of a slope and the effect of various parameters such as eccentricity (e) and dimensions report (b/B) were studied. Test results indicate that ultimate bearing capacity decreases with increasing load eccentricity to the core boundary of footing and that as far as the footing is distant from the crest, the bearing capacity increases. Furthermore, the results also prove that there is a clear proportional relation between relative densities –bearing capacity. The model test provides qualitative information on parameters influencing the bearing capacity of square footing. These tests can be used to check the bearing capacity estimated by the conventional methods.

Introduction. A sedentary lifestyle with lack of physical activity contributes to deteriorated balance among healthy young people. Physical activity is import_ant since it stimulates neuromuscular junctions that control body posture, especially at younger age, when greater postural sway may be observed in stabilography compared to adults. Proper work of individual muscle groups is import_ant to maintain proper balance. Abnormal muscle tone can lead to dysbalances that make it difficult o maintain a stable posture in a variety of conditions. Aim. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of a training cycle consisting of stretching of the ilopsoas, rectus femoris, gluteus maximus, hamstring and rectus abdominis, and eccentric training of the above mentioned muscles to improve static and dynamic balance. Methods. Oobjective and qualitative-subjective were used to assess the results in a man aged 22 yrs. Postural control was tested twice in the patient with the Neurocom International Inc. SMART EquiTest device under static conditions without visual control and with dynamic visual surrounding and unstable support surface. Automatic postural reflexes were also evaluated. In addition, clinical tests were performed. Results. Myo-fascial training, which included eccentric training combined with lower limb and trunk stretching improved the postural control in the subject.

Paper presents results of numerical modelling of behaviour of plane strain reinforced concrete elements under eccentric compression. In the analysis, a finite element method was used based on an elasto-plastic constitutive law by Drucker-Prager with hardening and softening for concrete and an elasto-plastic constitutive law by von Mises for reinforcement. The effects of boundary conditions at the element ends, eccentricity of the compressive load, element slenderness, area of the longitudinal and horizontal reinforcement on the load bearing capacity of elements were studied. The effect of the mesh refinement on the bearing capacity of elements was also analysed. A satisfactory agreement with model tests was achieved.

This paper presented a strengthening technique for enhancement reinforced concrete (RC) slab-column connection behavior using steel plates and steel stiffeners. A bi-axial load was applied with an eccentricity of 150 mm in both x and z directions. Four specimens with dimensions of 1,600 × 1,600 × 100 mm were tested in this research. The steel plate dimensions were chosen to be 600 × 600 and 800 × 800 mm with 6 mm thickness. The steel stiffeners are used to support and enhance the steel plate that it is extended from column to the slab-column connection with different dimension. The results showed an improvement in the stiffness of slab and increasing in the ultimate capacity. Also, when the steel plates dimensions increased, the ultimate capacity and stiffness increased.

This study presents the behaviour of model footing resting over unreinforced and reinforced sand bed under different loading conditions carried out experimentally. The parameters investigated in this study includes the number of reinforced layers (N = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4), embedment ratio (Df/B = 0, 0.5, 1.0), eccentric and inclined ratio (e/L, e/B = 0, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15) and (a = 0°, 7°, 14°). The test sand was reinforced with bi-axial geogrid (Bx20/20). The test results show that the ultimate bearing capacities decrease with axial eccentricity and inclination of applied loads. The test results also show that the depth of model footing increase zero to B (B = width of model footing), an increase of ultimate bearing capacity (UBC) approximated at 93%. Similarly, the multi-layered geogrid reinforced sand (N = 0 to 4) increases the UBC by about 75%. The bearing capacity ratio (BCR) of the model footing increases with an increasing load eccentricity to the core boundary of footing; if the load eccentricities increase continuity, the BCR decreases. The tilt of the model footing is increased by increasing the eccentricity and decreases with increasing the number of reinforcing layers.

In this contribution, an analytical formalism for investigating the scattering behaviour of a single multi-layered inclusion in a homogeneous isotropic matrix under the influence of non-plane elastic SH waves is derived. Herein, the inclusion is assumed to have a circular shape with its layers being eccentrically arranged. Numerical examples are performed with Textile Reinforced Concrete, a new building material in civil engineering. Within these investigations both shielding and amplification of SH waves is shown.
W pracy przedstawiono analityczny formalizm zagadnienia rozpraszania fal na pojedynczym, wielowarstwowymwtrąceniu materiałowym w izotropowej, jednorodnej strukturze osnowy poddanej działaniu niepłaskich fal spolaryzowanych w płaszczyźnie poziomej (fale typu SH). Założono, że wtrącenie ma kołowy kształt, a jego warstwy są rozmieszczone mimośrodowo. Zamieszczono rezultaty symulacji numerycznych na przykładzie nowego materiału budowlanego, jakim jest beton wzmacniany tekstyliami. Pokazano efekt ekranowania i wzmacniania fal SH w takiej strukturze.

The study considers the bearing capacity of eccentrically loaded strip footing on spatially variable, purely cohesive soil. The problem is solved using the random finite element method. The anisotropic random field of cohesion is generated using the Fourier series method, and individual problems within performed Monte Carlo simulations (MCSs) are solved using the Abaqus finite element code. The analysis includes eight different variants of the fluctuation scales and six values of load eccentricity. For each of these 48 cases, 1000 MCSs are performed and the probabilistic characteristics of the obtained values are calculated. The results of the analysis indicate that the mean value of the bearing capacity decreases linearly with eccentricity, which is consistent with Meyerhof's theory. However, the decrease in standard deviation and increase in the coefficient of variation of the bearing capacity observed are non-linear, which is particularly evident for small eccentricities. For one chosen variant of fluctuation scales, a reliability analysis investigating the influence of eccentricity on reliability index is performed. The results of the analysis conducted show that the value of the reliability index can be significantly influenced even by small eccentricities. This indicates the need to consider at least random eccentricities in future studies regarding probabilistic modelling of foundation bearing capacity.

The annulus produced between two concentric and vertically eccentric circular cylinders is positioned horizontally, and its internal wall is uniformly heated while isothermally cooling the external wall. The range of present conditions for Rayleigh number is 5×10^4 ≤ Ra≤ 6.48×10^6, and Pr = 0.703, the frequency of vibration is 0 ≤ f ≤ 20Hz; and the amplitude is b mm), with possible exclusion of the highest positive and negative eccentricities. Plots of the average Nusselt number variation against the Rayleigh number showed a significant increase in negative vertical eccentricity. It was found that the average Nusselt decreased as the internal cylinder changed its location vertically from negative to positive through the center, which is normally a desirable effect, but has no advantage over the concentric on the positive side. The Rayleigh number was found to be relatively sensitive to eccentricity. However, an increase of Rayleigh number leads to a nearly proportional increase in the average Nusselt number and a smaller yet still substantial increase in positive eccentricity. This study concluded that the vibration under the current experimental setup significantly affects the concentric position of the internal cylinder, whether the effect is positive or negative. The vibrational average Nusselt number increased in varying proportions, depending on the location of the heated inner cylinder.

The first and second Zagreb eccentricity indices (EM1 and EM2), the eccentric distance sum (EDS), and the connective eccentricity index (CEI) are all recently conceived eccentricity-based graph invariants, some of which found applications in chemistry. We prove that EDS ≥ EM1 for any connected graph, whereas EDS > EM2 for trees. Moreover, in the case of trees, EM1 ≥ CEI, whereas EM2 > CEI for trees with at least three vertices. In addition, we compare EDS with EM2, and compare EM1, EM2 with CEI for general connected graphs under some restricted conditions.

W pracy określono wartości wybranych wskaźników ekscentrycznej siły mięśni uda siatkarzy w warunkach izokinetycznych. Ocenie poddano stosunek momentu siły hamstrings do quadriceps (H/Q) oraz bilateralny deficyt maksymalnego momentu siły mięśni (BD) dla prędkości kątowych 30°/s, 60°/s i 90°/s. Wartości maksymalnego H/Q zawierały się od 69.0% (90°/s) do 81.3% (30°/s), natomiast średniego H/Q od 68.6% (90°/s) do 78.7% (30°/s). Ponadto, stwierdzono nieistotny BD (poniżej 7%) dla obu zespołów mięśniowych.
In the study the values of selected indicators of thigh eccentric isokinetic strength in volleyball athletes at angular velocities 30°/s, 60°/s and 90°/s was determined. The evaluation included the hamstrings to quadriceps torque ratio (H/Q) and peak torque bilateral deficit (BD). The peak H/Q values ranged from 69.0% (90°/s) to 81.3% (30°/s), whereas average H/Q values ranged from 68.6% (90°/s) to 78.7% (30°/s). Moreover, no significant BD values (less than 7%) were found for both muscle groups.

The paper reports experimental research on torques during cardboard cutting in the die-cutting press with eccentrics in the drive of the movable pressure plate. To conduct the research, an experimental bench with eccentrics in the drive of the die-cutting press is designed and manufactured. The manufactured experimental device for the research on cardboard blanks provides the possibility of getting dependencies of loadings at different parameters of the die-cutting process. The experimental approach envisages the use of the strain gauge measurement method and the wireless module for data collecting, as well as the software for its processing, for getting trustworthy results with minimum faults. The method gives an opportunity to study the torque values during the cardboard-cutting efforts on the drive shaft. The paper shows changes in the torque value on the drive shaft during the kinematic cycle with and without the use of cardboard blank. The angle of the drive shaft rotation during the cutting process was evaluated at selected values of the cardboard thickness. The relationship between the linear cutting efforts and the cardboard thickness, its fibre direction, cutting rule type and rotational speed of the drive shaft is elaborated. This kind of data is approximated by a logarithmic function (logarithmic curve), at R2 from 0.90 to 0.98. The thickness of the cardboard significantly influences the value of the linear cutting effort at all the studied parameters.

W pracy scharakteryzowano odmiany obróbki części klasy mimośrody. Określono wpływ odmian obróbki, a w szczególności sposobów ustalania mimośrodowości na dokładność i chropowatość toczonej powierzchni mimośrodowej. Analizowanym przykładem była obróbka wałka mimośrodowego skrzynki grzebieniowej na tokarce CNC TUG-56MN. Uzyskane wartości toczonego kształtująco mimośrodu z zastosowaniem tablic krzywych i kąta dyskretyzacji ΔC=2º oraz z zastosowaniem wielopozycyjnego przyrządu były prawie identyczne, natomiast wartość toczonego mimośrodu z użyciem podkładki pod jedną ze szczęk samocentrującego uchwytu trójszczękowego wyraźnie odbiegała od wymaganej wartości podanej w dokumentacji konstrukcyjnej. Chropowatość uzyskanych powierzchni określona średnią arytmetyczną rzędnych profilu Ra na obwodzie toczonego mimośrodu ulegała zmianom, w szczególności podczas toczenia z zastosowaniem tablic krzywych, co wynikało ze zmian geometrii ostrza w różnych położeniach kątowych obrabianego mimośrodu.
The machining methods of eccentric workpieces were characterized in the paper. The impact of the machining method on the accuracy and surface roughness of the eccentric surface was determined. The analysed example was machining method of eccentric shaft for comb box on CNC lathe TUG-56MN. The received values for turned eccentric shape with using curves table and discretization angle ΔC=2º and using a multi-position production jig were almost identical, while the value for turned eccentric shape with use washer under one of the jaws of self-centering chuck are differed from the required value given in the construction documentation. The roughness of received surface determined by the average roughness Ra on the periphery of the turned eccentric shape is changed in particular with the use of curved tables as a result of changes in edge geometry at different angular positions of the machined eccentricity. The largest surface roughness of the eccentric occurred during turning using curved tables, while the smallest using a washer under one of the jaws of the self-centering lathe.

The paper presents mathematical models of cylindrical gear pairs with various types of tooth profiles, such as eccentric-cycloidal, concavo-convex Novikov type, and involute. Comparative analyses were provided for the aforementioned gear meshes, aimed at determining contact patterns, sliding velocity, and transmission errors. Tooth surface modifications were also considered. The results were compared with findings for a conventional involute gearing. It was found that the contact pattern in Novikov conformal gearing is 30% greater than in the involute gear pair, and 60% greater than in the eccentric-cycloidal gear pair. The smallest sliding velocity was obtained in Novikov gearing, which may be beneficial in terms of durability.

Experimental and numerical analyses were conducted to investigate the effect of an eccentric loaded contour hole on a rock mass. In the concrete blocks used for the analyses, detonating cords were placed at the centre of the blast hole and eccentrically against the wall of the blast hole. PFC2D and AUTODYN were used for the numerical analyses, and the results of these software showed that an eccentric decoupled charge can result in the directional development of fractures, thereby enabling the control of cracks in the opposite direction. Even though both types of blasting have identical decoupling indexes, the crack and fracture patterns were affected by the location of the explosive, tamping, and other conditions. The results showed that an eccentric charge holder can be applicable to control the fracture direction and the damaged zone. For an eccentric charge, the initial crack was generated at 0.01 ms and expanded in the intended direction. For the eccentric charge, the maximum pressure at the area in contact with the blast hole wall exceeded that for the central decoupled charge by a factor of 5.5. Furthermore, the pressure in the intended direction was twice of that in the opposite direction.

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki numerycznych badań warunków hydrodynamicznych w zbiorniku z niecentrycznie zainstalowanym mieszadłem śmigłowym. Zastosowano podejście SAS (Scale Adaptive Simulation) z zaimplementowanym szczegółowym modelem burzliwości SST (Shear Stress Transport) w celu opisu skomplikowanej struktury przepływu burzliwego w takim aparacie. W wyniku obliczeń uzyskano szczegółowe dane na temat hydrodynamik operacji mieszania w takim układzie. Dane te pozwoliły na wyznaczenie pola prędkości cieczy w aparacie.
Results of numerical study of hydrodynamics in an agitated vessel with the eccentrically located propeller are presented in the paper. In order to describe complex flow pattern in such type of apparatus the Scale Adaptive Simulation (SAS) with the use of Shear Stress Transport (SST) turbulence model was applied. Detailed hydrodynamics data were obtained as a result of numerical calculations. Based on these data, a flow field in the agitated vessel was identified.
