We discuss the exactness of estimates in the finite sum theorems for transfinite inductive dimensions trind and trInd. The technique obtained gives an opportunity to repeat and sometimes strengthen some well known results about compacta with trind ≠ trInd. In particular we improve an estimate of the small transfinite inductive dimension of Smirnov's compacta $S^α, α < ω_1$, given by Luxemburg [Lu2].

Communities of practice (CoPs) highlight the personal foundation upon which relationships are formed, disregarding geographical, functional boundaries or unit constrictions, but instead by the tasks, contexts and work interests in action. It represents how individuals perform their jobs on daily basis contrary to the formal policies operated. CoPs are claimed to be effectual organisations for knowledge creation versus their former counterpart. The concept that facilitates the co-operation within groups; social capital allows access to the information and knowledge shared by others. An entity’s action is a critical part in understanding the dynamics of the exchange or combination of intellectual capital resulting in understanding organisational learning process. The purpose of the paper is to demonstrate the link between CoPs and social capital, in an attempt to justify why certain networks are more prosperous compared to others.

Within the academic preparation of future teachers we quite often notice that the students expect pedagogical or didactic disciplines to give them practical advice and guidelines for their teaching, which is logical. However, every experienced pedagogue knows how unrealistic such expectations are. The study of pedagogical sciences offers information basis, but its knowledge does not guarantee pedagogical mastery to any teacher. Our aim is to enrich the existing form of pedagogical programmes by adding a new dimension of personality development, which we want to achieve through psychosomatic disciplines. Completing this kind of preparation should enable the students to develop the so-called pedagogical condition. Graduates in Teacher Training programmes should then be not only academically educated professionals, but also authentic, self-reflecting personalities, capable of taking responsibility for their action.

The paper presents a discussion of stock market liquidity in a frontier market after the financial crisis. The paper defines the dimensions of stock market liquidity and indicates possible liquidity measures which could be applied to analyze liquidity on the stock exchange in Vietnam. The empirical result shows the aggregate liquidity, which captures various dimensions of liquidity through eight liquidity measures based on a daily basis during the period from 2011 to 2018. The analysis indicates the characteristics of liquidity in the Vietnamese stock market, and the differences in liquidity among three market capitalization groups: small, medium, and large. It is evident that there are differences in the three sizes of companies, where larger companies are found to have better liquidity.
W artykule przenalizowano płynność rynku akcji na rynku wschodzącym po kryzysie finansowym. Określono wymiary płynności i wskazano możliwe miary płynności, które można zastosować do analizy płynności na giełdzie w Wietnamie. Badanie dotyczy zastosowania różnych miar w celu uchwycenia różnorodnych wymiarów płynności rynku akcji w trzech grupach kapitalizacji rynkowej: małej, średniej i dużej. W analizie wykorzystano osiem miar płynności na podstawie agregatów dziennych w latach 2011-2018. Wyniki empiryczne pokazują zagregowaną płynność w odniesieniu do dwóch metod: średniej arytmetycznej i średniej ważonej. Wykazano, że są różnice w płynności w zależności od wielkości spółki. Duże przedsiębiorstwa mają większą płynność.

A vertex v ∈ V (G) is said to distinguish two vertices x, y ∈ V (G) of a graph G if the distance from v to x is di erent from the distance from v to y. A set W ⊆ V (G) is a total resolving set for a graph G if for every pair of vertices x, y ∈ V (G), there exists some vertex w ∈ W − {x, y} which distinguishes x and y, while W is a weak total resolving set if for every x ∈ V (G)−W and y ∈ W, there exists some w ∈ W −{y} which distinguishes x and y. A weak total resolving set of minimum cardinality is called a weak total metric basis of G and its cardinality the weak total metric dimension of G. Our main contributions are the following ones: (a) Graphs with small and large weak total metric bases are characterised. (b) We explore the (tight) relation to independent 2-domination. (c) We introduce a new graph parameter, called weak total adjacency dimension and present results that are analogous to those presented for weak total dimension. (d) For trees, we derive a characterisation of the weak total (adjacency) metric dimension. Also, exact figures for our parameters are presented for (generalised) fans and wheels. (e) We show that for Cartesian product graphs, the weak total (adjacency) metric dimension is usually pretty small. (f) The weak total (adjacency) dimension is studied for lexicographic products of graphs.

In this paper we consider a retained digits Cantor set $T$ based on digit expansions with Gaussian integer base. Let $F$ be the set all $x$ such that the intersection of $T$ with its translate by $x$ is non-empty and let $F_β$ be the subset of $F$ consisting of all $x$ such that the dimension of the intersection of $T$ with its translate by $x$ is $β$ times the dimension of $T$. We find conditions on the retained digits sets under which $F_β$ is dense in $F$ for all $0 ≤ β ≤ 1$. The main novelty in this paper is that multiplication the Gaussian integer base corresponds to an irrational (in fact transcendental) rotation in the complex plane.

The article attempts to systematize the issue of resistance manifestations in the context of education. As communication grows ever more media-centric, it often intends to modify the addressee’s attitude. In this context, our chapter aims to investigate a relatively little-examined film review genre from the discursive, pragmatic and rhetorical perspective. The selected corpus consists of one hundred French and Polish journalistic reviews of three famous films from 2019. The act of persuasion we focus on corresponds to a set of strategies exploiting exploiting the deliberative and epideictic dimensions of discourse as well as the rhetorical principles of movere and delectare in order to instil particular views and concepts. Hence, to some extent, the described procedures draw on other discourses, such as elite, advertising, stylistic and filmic discourse. Therefore, our study centres around these new intrinsic features of the film review’s multifaceted nature considered as a sociocultural activity based on the justified assessment and the addresser’s ethos.

We demonstrate that a physical object in nature should not be described as a fractal, despite an ideal mathematical object, rather a ubiquitiform (a terminology coined here for a finite order self-similar or self-affine structure). It is shown mathematically that a ubiquitiform must be of integral dimension, and that the Hausdorff dimension of the initial element of a fractal changes abruptly at the point at infinity, which results in divergence of the integral dimensional measure of the fractal and makes the fractal approximation to a ubiquitiform unreasonable. Therefore, instead of the existing fractal theory in applied mechanics, a new type of ubiquitiformal one is needed.

Utopian consciousness is defined as an expression of opposition against actual status quo with simultaneous tendency towards creating alternative projects guarantying possibilities which are not found in actual reality. Utopias usually are recognized as negative concepts. They may often glare with simple and artificial examples or faith their believers in realization of imagined world. Utopists are often called dreamers and people who try to implement unreal ideas into life. Although it can not be forgotten that there is a meaningful difference between abstract utopia and concrete one. In concrete utopia all wishful thinking is changed by seeking real historical alternatives in the boundaries of existed social, political and economical possibilities. If the history of social thought improves that utopias include inspiring force, expose weaknesses of actual order, criticize status quo it should be asked if the idea of sustainable development does not include some elements of utopian thought.

Autor wiąże psychologię poznawczą z nurtem teorii poznania, a szczególnie z minimalizmem poznawczym, reprezentowanym przez filozofów greckich. Czyni to w celu zwrócenia uwagi na minimalizm poznawczy, który zdominował współczesne nurty psychologii kognitywistycznej. Zwraca jednocześnie uwagę na relację poznającego podmiotu z obiektywną rzeczywistością, której efektem jest relatywny i subiektywny wymiar psychologiczny. Nie kwestionuje jednak istnienia i znaczenia tego wymiaru, ale przestrzega, że bezkrytyczna jego adaptacja na teren nauk pedagogicznych jest rodzajem dewaluacji teleologicznej i aksjologicznej tych nauk. W końcu, jako opozycję w stosunku do wymiaru psychologicznego, autor proponuje przyjęcie wymiaru życia duchowego. Powołuje się przy tym na logoteorię V. Frankla oraz na biografię osób, które swoim życiem udowodniły istnienie wymiaru, w którym przestają obowiązywać prawa psychologiczne.
The author combines cognitive psychology with current ideas of epistemology theory, in particular with cognitive minimalism as represented by Greek philosophers. It is done in order to focus attention on cognitive minimalism, which has dominated current trends in cognitive psychology. Simultaneously, he draws attention to the very idea of the relation of the subject with the objective reality whose effect lies in the relative and subjective psychological dimension. He does not dispute the existence and the meaning of this dimension, yet warns about the uncritical introduction of this dimension into the area of pedagogical knowledge, which is a type of teleological and axiology devaluation of this knowledge. Finally, counteracting the psychological dimension, the author proposes the acceptance of the dimension of the spiritual life by alleging Frankl`s logotheory and the biographies of people who, through their own lives, proved the existence of this spiritual dimension, where obligatory psychological rights no longer apply.

The set W is called a resolving set of G if code(u) ≠ code(v) for every pair of distinct vertices u and v. A metric basis of G is a resolving set with the minimum cardinality. The metric dimension of G is the cardinality of a metric basis and is denoted by β(G). A set F ⊂ V is called fault-tolerant resolving set of G if F \ {v} is a resolving set of G for every v ∈ F. The fault-tolerant metric dimension of G is the cardinality of a minimal fault-tolerant resolving set. In this article, a complete characterization of metric bases for G2 mn has been given. In addition, we prove that the fault-tolerant metric dimension of G2 mn is 4 if m + n is even. We also show that the fault-tolerant metric dimension of G2 mn is at least 5 and at most 6 when m + n is odd.

The quality and assessment of a reservoir can be documented in details by the application of seismo magnetic moment. This research aims to calculate fractal dimension from the relationship among seismo magnetic moment, maximum seismo magnetic moment and wetting phase saturation and to approve it by the fractal dimension derived from the relationship among capillary pressure and wetting phase saturation. Two equations for calculating the fractal dimensions have been employed. The first one describes the functional relationship between wetting phase saturation, seismo magnetic moment, maximum seismo magnetic moment and fractal dimension. The second equation implies to the wetting phase saturation as a function of capillary pressure and the fractal dimension. Two procedures for obtaining the fractal dimension have been utilized. The first procedure was done by plotting the logarithm of the ratio between seismo magnetic moment and maximum seismo magnetic moment versus logarithm wetting phase saturation. The slope of the first procedure = 3- Df (fractal dimension). The second procedure for obtaining the fractal dimension was determined by plotting the logarithm of capillary pressure versus the logarithm of wetting phase saturation. The slope of the second procedure = Df -3. On the basis of the obtained results of the fabricated stratigraphic column and the attained values of the fractal dimension, the sandstones of the Shajara reservoirs of the Shajara Formation were divided here into three units.

On introduit une nouvelle méthode pour démontrer le théorème de Weyl et le théorème de Erdős-Taylor concernant l'équirépartition mod 1 de ${λ_{n}x}$. Cette méthode fait intervenir des produits de Riesz et s'adapte bien au cas de plusieures dimensions.

We show that some of the spaces \(X_\alpha\) constructed in [7] are Cantor manifolds for the small transfinite dimension trind, which is transfinite extension of the Menger-Urysohn dimension. That gives us the construction of such spaces that is simpler than constructions of metrizable Cantor manifolds for trind published hitherto. In addition, our examples are disjoint unions of Euclidean cubes and the irrationals.

The characteristic "tourist invasion" and other aspects of modern globalisation now ongoing in Africa and specifically in Mali cause substantial changes in the local culture. In particular it affects the Dogon tribe, attractive to many. At the same time ethnologists begin to realize that something is „becoming missing". A certain research age comes to an end and scientific materials collected and gathered appear to be only fragments of a whole that would be difficult to complete. On the other hand, from the Dogon perspective the attempts to save their heritage are not always met with understanding and approval. Frequently these attempts may even become desperate. The events of my last and the previous research season seem to confirm this opinion. On the 27th October 2008 (the penultimate day of our expedition) Pangale Dolo, one of the "initiated" guardians of the "hidden dimension" of the culture came to our camp with the proposal to show us something interesting. We went with him to the border of the Sanga village where among fields we found a low, long rock formation with shallow caves. 'That's where first Nommo, our ancestors, descended from the sky' he said. 'First four sat on this rock', 'in this place they fought Jurugu' and so went the story of the most esoteric part of the tribe's life. Next, on the other side of the village we were shown the landing site of the "first blacksmith's ark", the cave where he set up the first smithy and so on. It became apparent that the myth we were told differs somewhat from the information gathered by the French ethnologists 60 years ago. Maybe during our next expedition we will be able to verify this information. In the near future this subject will take form of a separate publication. Before that I have tried at least several times to get any information on this subject and always same upon a "brick wall" which no one was willing to cross with me (us). This time it was different. The Dogon seeing our painstaking efforts and almost desperation to learn the modern image of their culture, without asking have taken upon themselves the role of "the question answerer" but also (more importantly) the side willing to pick the dialogue in this matter. We had the opportunity to get to know a fragment of the "hidden space" of their culture.

We establish the following characterization of the approximable dimension of the metric space X with respect to the commutative ring R with identity: $a-dim_R$ X ≤ n if and only if there exist a metric space Z of dimension at most n and a proper $UV^{n-1}$-mapping f:Z → X such that $\check H^n(f^-1}(x);R) = 0 $ for all x ∈ X. As an application we obtain some fundamental results about the approximable dimension of metric spaces with respect to a commutative ring with identity, such as the subset theorem and the existence of a universal space. We also show that approximable dimension (with arbitrary coefficient group) is preserved under refinable mappings.

Firstly, we introduce the lower and upper dimensions for a measure defined on a metric space. Secondly, we establish the dimension formulas and characterize the unidimensional measures which were introduced by J.-P. Kahane. Lastly, we give some applications of these to the calculus of dimensions and the multifractal analysis of certain well known measures such as Lebesgue measures on Cantor sets, Gibbs measures, Markov measures and Riesz products etc.
