Opis:
The main aim of the analysis is to present the area of interest of developmental psychopathology and to answer the question why this domain enables a new perspective in the research on the nature of psychological disorders. After a brief presentation of the history of birth of this new domain and its actual status, it is worthwhile to define the key concepts of developmental psychopathology and to reveal the specificity of its theoretical claims as well as empirical studies. Moreover, the aims of further research were shown. Key words: developmental psychopathology, atypical development, developmental disorders

Teachers’ work is subjected to constant evaluation by students, parents, other teachers, and society. High demands in the face of changing socio-cultural, educational reality require from teachers the continuous improvement of pedagogical competences. The article raises the question of teachers’ competences acquired by the students of early school education during three years of studies. The scope and type of those competences determine pupils’ developmental change. On the basis of surveys and interviews conducted on 50 students it is possible to formulate numerous conclusions. The most important one indicates that students are comprehensively prepared and gain pedagogical knowledge that allows them to treat pupils subjectively, encourage them to take part in discussions, and organize activities with appropriate methods and forms. Other areas of responsibility may be developed and improved in the course of work.

An overview of principles and mathematical models of biological pattern formation is presented. One can distinguish preformation, optimization, topological and self-organization principles. Combinations of such principles are responsible for shape and tissue formation, differentiation, regeneration, morphogenetic motion, cell division and even malignant patterns, e.g. in tumor growth. Mathematical modeling allows for a systematic analysis of the pattern-formation potential of morphogenetic principles. Biological patterns are the result of complex interactions between a smaller or larger number of components, particularly molecules and cells. Depending on the modeling perspective microscopic (from the individual component level) and macroscopic models (from the population perspective) are distinguished. The specific question directs the choice of the appropriate perspective. A selection of microscopic and macroscopic model types is introduced.

In present work was hypothesised that treatment of alcoholic fathers would be the one of the important protective factors in families with alcoholism. The first question addressed was whether children of treated alcoholics have been differed from children of drinking alcoholics according to the developmental tasks. The next question addressed was whether the specific family context was associated with the adolescent’s development. Participants included 91 children age 17-18. The research sample comprised three groups: 31 children of drinking alcoholics, 30 children of treated alcoholics, and 30 children of non-alcoholic parents. In general, the results of the present study suggest that the process treatment of the alcoholic parents was found to be a significant protective factor in alcoholic families.

Multilevelness of personal development and autobiographical narrativesAutobiographical narrative is a means of continuous ordering, integrating and giving new meanings to life experiences. Analyses of autobiographical narratives of adults characterized by a high level of generativity (commitment to passing down values and supporting development of the next generation) – as described by E. Erikson – found differences between the structure and content of their stories and the ones created by less generative adults (McAdams, Diamond, Mansfield, de St. Aubin, 1997). One of the basic structural differences is that the former are dominated by redemption sequences (subjective negative-to-positive revaluation of situations), whereas the latter – by contamination sequences (positive-to-negative revaluation). In the context of the above-specifi ed fi ndings, the question arises whether the observations of the particular type of revaluation can be linked with the concept of multilevelness of personal development and how developmental transformations, connected with the extension of conscious actualization of individual freedom, are refl ected in the means of structuring self-narratives. Analyses of autobiographical narratives by individuals who reached a high level of personal development suggest possible links between the concept of multilevel personal development and the following characteristic features of self-narratives: fi nding coherence between many plots of a story, the prevalence of redemption imagery and integration of basic motifs contained in a life story

Opis:
The article presents research on the frequently observed problem of aggression and violence in relationship. The authors point out the role of represented attachment style for the quality of relationships of young adults and the appearance of aggressive behaviors. At the same time they suggest that the role overload that occurs during early adulthood may lead to lower satisfaction with the implementation of the developmental tasks of this period – which in turn may result in a tendency to aggressive behavior. The aim of this study was to investigate the specific needs of young adults in partnership given their attachment style, satisfaction with the developmental tasks associated with family life and the expression of aggressive behavior. The main research problem was therefore the relationship between attachment style and the level of aggression and the relationship between the level of aggression and satisfaction with the implementation of developmental tasks. The study was conducted with the use of Kwestionariusz Stylów Przywiązaniowych (KSP) Mieczyslawa Plopy, Kwestionariusz Agresji (BPAQ) A. Buss and M. Perry and Skala Satysfakcji z Realizacji Zadań Rozwojowych (prepared by the authors). The study involved 45 pairs in different forms of relationship. The study confirmed the relationship between represented attachment style and the level of aggression and the relationship between satisfaction with the developmental tasks and the level of partners aggression towards each other.

Opis:
The paper demonstrates how pragmatic features of certain developmental disorders, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, can be described in a formal pragmasemantic framework. We apply ÂeALIS, the pragmasemantic system (Alberti, Kleiber, Schnell, & Szabó 2016) which offers a formal representation for linguistically encoded speech acts and for the beliefs, desires and intentions that are present in the minds of potential interlocutors. It defines worldlets which include the BDI states of the speaker, as well as BDI states that the speaker assumes the hearer has, in an unlimited recursive pattern. The model is built upon the idea that the worldlets are organized in a system of multi-level tree-structures and are easily processable and accessible in communication for the intact human mind. In this formally defined system, the intensity of the different BDIs (e.g. strong/weak belief) belonging to the worldlets must be signaled by the interlocutors, using pragmatic tools. We found that pragmatic inaccuracy is detectable in ÂeALIS when it is related to inappropriate presentation of BDIs (e.g. inability to identify the illocutionary goals), poor reciprocity (e.g. ToM1 and ToM2 problems), impairment of coding/decoding (e.g. incorrect semantical and syntactical coding of the information structure) and insensitivity to intensity (e.g. the misuse of discourse markers). These symptoms can be present in any of the aforementioned disorders. Our “atlas” can illustrate that the so-called “pragmatic deficit” has a formally definable structure.

In this paper the author analyses the developmental, evolutionary and planning aspects of spouse choice. The work refers to Robert Havighurst’s developmental tasks theory, Tadeusz Mądrzycki’s personality theory and the evolutionary psychology theory. According to Havighurst’s theory, failure to achieve such an important developmental task as spouse choice makes the man unhappy, which in turn makes the following developmental tasks even more difficult. Spouse choice should not only be a decree of faith but also a conscious task. The planning aspect of spouse choice is analysed referring to Mądrzycki’s theory, considering such life plans features as the essence, importance degree, conformity to social norms, realism or minuteness of detail. From the evolutionary psychology theory perspective, the short woman’s fertility time has a serious consequence – little time for spouse choice.

Asperger syndrome has been included in the common category of autistic disorders in current medical classifications. In spite of that, there are still some researches allowing us to see the differences in the structure and functioning of the brains of people with autism and Asperger syndrome. Differentiation at the level of diagnosis is important because of the different educational and therapeutic needs of children with autism and AS. This paper presents the concept of dimensional case assessment of children with Asperger syndrome. The dimensional approach allows for viewing the disorder multidimensionally, taking into account the severity of the phenomenon and in connection with other factors, not only other disorders, which significantly reduces the omission of non-prototypical cases in diagnoses and accelerates the use of therapeutic measures. It is necessary because of the low effectiveness of the diagnostic categorical approach.

Erik H. Erikson, the author of the theory of psychosocial development, claimed that during their life from birth to death, every human being experiences eight developmental crises. Every time, at each stage there are two polar opposites, two conflicting values. To overcome the crisis we must find an optimal balance between them. How we resolve the crises affects our integration and relations with others and ourselves. In the article the author concentrates on the first developmental stage, considered by many to be the most important one. Its two opposites are basic trust and basic mistrust, while the basic virtue is hope. Unfortunately, due to the lack of appropriate experiences, improper attitude of other people and various otherfactors, blind children already at this stage often fail to properly resolve the developmental crisis. In further part of the article the author discusses the causes of the problem and suggests how the disturbances at the first stage of development might be prevented.

The material underlying the research on the syntactic functions of prepositions and prepositional phrases has been extracted from reports on speech development for six-year-old children and stories created by the same people many years later, when they were eighth-year students. Analyses of dyslexic students’ essays have confi rmed that one of the key indicators of developmental dyslexia, which is helpful in diagnosis, could be the preposition acquisition time as well as understanding and using this part of speech in utterances and statements.

A higher sensitivity and the cytotoxic effects of garlic have been previously reported on culture cells. No studies, however, have investigated the developmental toxicity of fresh garlic in zebrafish model. In this study freshly made garlic juice, which chemically is a combination of sulphur containing compounds, was evaluated to investigate the developmental toxicity during a 5-day assay using zebrafish embryos, starting from 2 h post fertilization. The results showed that toxicity endpoints such as the hatching rate, survival rate, malformation rate and growth rate had a significant dose-response relationship with increasing concentrations of garlic juice. The average hatching rate and time to hatch of zebrafish exposed to lower concentrations (0.001% and less) were significantly increased around 48-60 h of treatment (P < 0.05), strongly emphasizing the acceleration of hatchability caused by garlic juice. Mortality was also increased with exposure to garlic, exhibiting the maximal toxicity after 12 h of exposure to the concentration of 0.08%. A significant reduction in the heart rate by 35.5% was recorded due to the higher concentrations of juice (above 0.01%) starting form 36-hour exposure (P < 0.05). Growth retardation, pericardial oedema with heart malformations, deformity of yolk, lack of pigmentation and body malformation have been noticed at the concentration of 0.03% starting from 48 h of exposure. No severe malformations in any of the experimental zebrafish were produced at concentrations less than 0.01% of garlic juice. The results indicate that developing zebrafish are sensitive to garlic juice and further studies are required to investigate the molecular basis of the observed effects that garlic constituents exert upon aquatic vertebrates.

This approach will be exemplified by research on development through guided participation and the role of shame in moral and social development in Confucian culture.

The general theory of crisis stages in the cultural development of children has been outlined in the article. Nowadays such a theory seems to be extremely needed. The formulation of such a general theory of crisis stages in the cultural development of children is of particular importance for pedagogical practices. This type of psychological reflection can become a basis of the pedagogics of the crisis stages in the cultural development of children, postulated by Vygotsky many years ago.

As potentially differentiating young adults performing these tasks such features were taken under consideration: personality traits of the Big Five measured by the NEO-FFI Costa and McCrea in the adaptation of Zawadzki, Strelau, Szczepaniak and Śliwińska (1998), the level of self-esteem (SES Scale by Rosenberg – adaptation by Dzwonkowski, Lachowicz- -Tabaczek and Łaguna (2001)), and locus of control (diagnosed using IE Scale at work (1990) by Gliszczyńska). The carried out analysis showed the existence of significant differences in openness to experience, conscientiousness and self-esteem between the compared subgroups of young adults pursuing and not pursuing developmental tasks connected with family life.

Since ancient times, scholars points out effectiveness of horseback riding not only for utilitarian use, but also as form of therapy for less healthy part of society. Enlightenment age scholars started to make treaties about use of such therapy and this trend is now developing not only for physical disabilities, but also for mentally ill patients. The purpose of this study is to determine trends of interest in horseback riding therapy interventions among different groups of neurocognitive disorders among different populations of people and its comparison to prevalence of such disorders. Material and methods: Web of Science, Pubmed and Scopus databased were screened using filter with algorithm of “horseback therapy” , “horse back therapy”, ”hippotherapy” and “equine therapy”. Results were screened for appropriateness and relevance, then based on this end-filtering, papers were grouped regarding specificity of neurocognitive aspect of disorders. Results: 595 entries in Web of Science, 516 entries in Scopus and 123 results in Pubmed. Overall, 272 entries were subtracted. Conclusions: This analysis shows that most interest in such kind of therapy is focused on neurological disorders, especially with ones with cerebral palsy. There is no correlation between prevalence of selected disorders and amount of related papers.

Opis:
Introduction: A sufficient level of movement competence (MC) is a significant health and psychosocial factor. Overall, there is a strong consensus that movement competence is positively associated with all health-related variables. A lower level of movement competence in childhood is reflected in physical activity participation and engagement in physical activity later in life. The Bruininks-Oseretsky test of motor proficiency, 2nd version (BOT-2), is considered the most comprehensive diagnostic tool. There are no normative criteria of this test in the Czech Republic. The aim of this pilot study was to estimate a cross-cultural validity of the BOT-2 in a sample of Czech school children. Methods: The research sample was comprised of 83 school children (43 girls and 40 boys) of average age 10.15 ± 1.66 years. For the estimation of a MC we used the BOT-2, 2nd version - complete form. Results: The results of our tested group show that the group's MC is in the lower part of the average level in the area of total motor composite (standard score 46.4±11.8). On average, the weakest performance was recorded in the area of fine manual control. More in-depth analysis showed that the weakest subcomponent of the area of fine manual control was fine motor precision (scale score 10.1±5.5). The group's most successful area was the component concerning strength and agility. Conclusion: As a pilot study the project indicated that the BOT-2 can be valid for the Czech school children in 4 motor area composites regarding the manual coordination, coordination, strength and agility assessment only. It is not valid for the assessment of fine manual control. In a more detailed analysis of 8 subcategories we observe significantly worse results of Czech children in the area of fine motor precision.

young adulthood, developmental tasks, heterosexual intimate relationships
Opis:
Heterosexual intimate relationships as a developmental task in young adulthoodHuman development in the life cycle can be described in terms of some developmental achievements. In line with this pragmatic perspective, we can refer to concept of developmental tasks proposed by Havighurst. According to his theory people progress through a series of developmental stages, which pose particular tasks and challenges. One of the main developmental tasks of young adults is to enter and maintain a heterosexual intimate relationship which is a prerequisite of marital and family life. This article focuses on heterosexual relationships as a crucial and vital developmental task in young adulthood, presents their characteristics and dynamics of development, and in line with this notion, shows them as a possible criterion of individual development. This point of view can help us in assessing the degree to which individuals fulfill developmental tasks or deviate from the ideal course of life, and then in identifying the factors associated with these deviations. Therefore we can engage in psychocorrective activities in the area of close relationships and promote a successful fulfillment of developmental tasks by young adults.
