Opis:
This article presents methods of identification of dynamics characteristics of chain saws. These methods can be successfully used in the process of identification of resonant frequencies and visualisation of ODS of chain saws. Vibration measurements were done using Laser Doppler Vibrometry. Some examples of identification of dynamics characteristics of chain saws and their operational deflection shapes are presented below.
Przedstawiono wyniki badań charakterystyki dynamicznej pilarki łańcuchowej. Pomiarów wibracji dokonano z wykorzystaniem techniki laserowej. Przeprowadzono analizę modalną układu. Zaprezentowano przykłady ODS (Operational Deflection Shapers) prowadnicy pilarki łańcuchowej.

Jedną z metod projektowania wzmocnienia nawierzchni jest metoda ugięć. Jak się jednak okazuje sposób ten nie zawsze jest możliwy do zastosowania. W artykule przedstawiono metodę określania grubości nakładki wzmacniającej, na podstawie ugięć, gdy szukana grubość warstwy tłucznia znajduje się poza granicznymi krzywymi na nomogramie.
One way to strengthen the pavement design is the method of deflections. As it turns out, this method is not always possible to apply. This paper presents a method for determining the thickness of the overlay reinforcement, based on deflection when looking for breakstone layer thickness is outside the boundary curves in the nomogram.

The study investigates the control of structural response using collocated piezoelectric elements mounted on both sides of beam. A capacitive shunt is introduced into the circuitry to provide passive control of the beam's configuration. The energy method is used to develop the structure's governing equations. In order to select the appropriate electrostatic relations for the material, i.e. conductor or insulator material, the free charge rearrangement time is used. The effects of the capacitive shunt are introduced into the electrostatic relations using additive decomposition of capacitance. As an application of the model, a piezo-elastic beam restrictor using a capacitive shunt is investigated. Numerical results show that the capacitive shunt can effect passive control of the configuration of the beam.

Opis:
Cutting a tubular element into thin rings is an operation often used in engineering processes. Total work of the cutting consists of that necessary for initial deflection of cut material and the cutting work itself. This paper presents mathematical models which describe deflection of cross-section of a single tubular element as well as a single layer of tubes under action of external forces ( acting and reacting ones). The deflection concerns end part of tube hence the cutting object model has been reduced to a thin ring. Results of calculation by using the developed models are presented for selected materials of tubular elements, which are commonly used for structures of the kind; moreover , they are prepared in a form of dimensionless diagrams, that makes it possible to use them for an arbitrary material.

Transport has always been a fundamental impulse for the development of civilization. Issues related to the regularity of operation of technical systems, in the last decade have become important issues being considered from both the point of view, as well as economics. Today the major threat in the operational reliability constitutes intensification of the machine and equipment use leading to excessive degradation. In automated manufacturing processes where the material handling operations are realized by the cranes, the safety as both devices and operating people constitute important factor. The main purpose of the article was focused on the set of issues including the material handling devices (MHD) reliability shaping problem especially presents work in progress towards development the MHD condition assessment system with using telematic approach. In the article author, special care was enclosed to MHD devices with strength human factor interaction and relatively large construction, so the overhead travelling crane was chose. The object of the statement constitutes an attempt of collecting the knowledge concerning a possibility of use modern measurement systems to monitoring crane bridge deflection. All tests and considerations were conducted on the double girder overhead travelling crane with hosting capability 1000 kg and bridge span 8000 mm.

The progressive development of miniature systems increases the demand for miniature parts. Reducing the size of manufactured components on one hand is a serious challenge for traditional technologies, but on the other hand, mainly by removing the energy barrier opens the possibility of using other unconventional techniques. A good example is the ultrasonic excitation of the punch during the micro-upsetting process. The anti-barreling phenomenon and dependent on the amplitude of vibrations, intensive deformation of the surface layers in contact with the tools at both ends of the sample was noted. Based on the measured strains and stresses, an increase in temperature in the extreme layers to approx. 200°C was suggested. By adopting a simplified dynamic model of the test stand, the possibility of detaching the surface of the punch from the surface of the sample was demonstrated.

Opis:
Accuracy of machined components is one of the most critical considerations for any manufacturer. However, when milling the radial force deflects the cutting tool and workpiece. It affects the precision and quality of machined surfaces. The extent of the deviations can be predicted in various mathematical models. Thus, the errors can be compensated in NC programme effectively. So it is possible to machine with high cutting conditions, and also a high quality of machined surface can be achieved. In this paper are predicted deflection of milling tools and thin-walled workpiece. The experimental results show that the overall error in the flexible milling can be captured and predicted with very high accuracy.

The paper presents the analysis of electromechanical characteristics of piezoelectric converters subjected to an electric field and mechanical load. The analyses were performed based on a method consisting implementation of special segments responsible for electrical boundary conditions to a homogeneous beam. Constitutive equations were developed, allowing one to obtain static electromechanical characteristics for piezoelectric actuators with freely defined boundary conditions and geometry. Moreover, based on constitutive equations obtained, a particular solution for cantilever transducer subjected to concentrated force has been developed. The resulting analytical solution was compared with the data available in the literature, and the developed FEM solution. Furthermore, the influence of factors such as relative length, thickness and location of particular piezoelectric layers on electromechanical characteristics of the transducer was defined.

The paper focuses on measuring and evaluating the impact of selected technical and technological factors - the height of adjustable guides and stretching force - on the side deflection of the saw band of a joinery band saw. There is a detailed description of the ways the side deflection can be measured. In order to find out the intensity of the stretching force was used portable tension meter SANDVIK 5000, enabling to check the tensile stress in the saw blades of a gang saw or in the saw bands of a band saw. The actual experiment was conducted on a joinery band saw, at the cutting rate vc = 15 m·s-1. The results of the measurements confirmed the theoretical assumption of the impact of the selected technical and technological factors on the stability of the saw band, where the side deflection decreases with increasing stretching force and increases with increasing height of the guides. The stability of the saw band affects the quality of the surface to be treated, thus saving the cost of machining the workpiece and making work productivity more efficient.

In this paper, a new contact-free method for monitoring the displacement of buried foundations, with application to model (laboratory) studies, is considered. This method is based on the measurement of the magnetic induction amplitude created by a magnetic dipole attached to the construction. An array of sensing coils, located distantly, measures the changes in magnetic induction amplitude invoked by displacement of the signal source. The forward and inverse problems are formulated. Reconstruction of the source displacement is performed for synthetic data, both contaminated and uncontaminated by noise. It has been found that the reconstruction of displacements as small as 0.001 m is possible for distances between signal source (transmitting coil - magnetic dipole) and coil array of 0.5 m, even for data contaminated by noise.
