Opis:
A numerical model of a friction damper used for damping vibration in glass gatherer robots was described. The damper with a lance was modelled using finite elements. Primary natural frequency of the system was determined. Numerical calculations were performed to determine the best operating parameters of the damper for excitations using a impulse of a force. Results of the damping decrement calculations for the friction damper model with a constant coefficient of friction and for the model, in which the coefficient of friction varied depending on the sliding velocity and the normal pressure occurring at the contact surfaces of the damper’s friction rings, were presented. Based on numerical simulations, the values of relative displacements between the damper’s friction rings were also determined.

Opis:
Contemporary tools which help to design technical objects refer to the conclusions drawn from studying the changes of physical processes accompanying the exploitation, especially to vibroacoustic processes. The main problem is to define such vibroacoustic measures, where their changes would model the analyzed physical phenomena in the best way. Basing on simple indicators which refer to occurring phenomena, it is possible to obtain accurate solutions with a satisfactory reliance level without using complex computing techniques needing detailed descriptors. According to the author, the indicators which are based on the analysis of vibroacoustic energy propagation are very useful in solving engineering problems. These indicators are useful while diagnosing the condition of technical systems, identifying and minimizing the vibroacoustic risks. The possibilities of using such indicators in order to find design solution are illustrated by sample results of the research of the structures with vibroacoustic elements which reduce the noise of rail vehicles by the rail vibration damping.

The paper presents a method of damping of mechanical vibrations by application of electromagnetic actuators. The physical phenomena that take place in such elements are related to magnetic induction and hysteresis. Induction, which consists in generation of electric current in a conductor placed within a variable magnetic field, has a precise quantitative description in form of the Faraday law. At the same time, magnetic hysteresis in ferromagnetic materials reflects the relation between magnetization of a given sample and magnitude of the external magnetic field that had been active during its whole history. Unfortunately, there is no at present a single commonly accepted model of this phenomenon. In this paper, some considerations by Bertotti (1998) are incorporated to this subject. The authors use a bilinear magnetization curve, which depicts the phenomenon of magnetic saturation. Analysis of the derived equations of motion of the coupled electromagneto-mechanical model revealed that the effect of hysteresis on reduction of vibration amplitude is rather of minor impact, however noticeable. At the same time, the electromagnetic damping itself is powerful. To support the conclusions, appropriate time histories, graphs of the logarithmic damping decrement as well as resonant characteristics are given here as in the previous authors’ paper.
W pracy przedstawiono metodę tłumienia drgań mechanicznych za pomocą aktuatorów elektromagnetycznych. Zjawiskami fizycznymi zachodzącymi w takich elementach wykonawczych są indukcja magnetyczna i histereza. Indukcja, polegająca na wytwarzaniu prądu elektrycznego w przewodniku znajdującym się w zmiennym polu magnetycznym posiada precyzyjny opis ilościowy w postaci prawa Faradaya. Natomiast histereza magnetyczna w ferromagnetykach oznacza zależność namagnesowania próbki od wartości zewnętrznego pola magnetycznego, jakie występowało przez całą jej historię. Niestety, w chwili obecnej nie ma jednego powszechnie akceptowanego modelu opisującego to zjawisko. Autorzy tej pracy wykorzystali pewne refleksje zaczerpnięte z publikacji Bertottiego (1998) na ten temat. W rozważaniach użyto dwuliniową charakterystykę magnesowania, co pozwoliło odzwierciedlić zjawisko magnetycznego nasycenia rdzenia. Przeprowadzona analiza rozwiązań wyprowadzonych równań ruchu elektromagneto-mechanicznego modelu układu wykazała, że uwzględnienie zjawiska histerezy ma niewielkie znaczenie, jakkolwiek zauważalne. Jednocześnie skuteczność samej metody tłumienia elektromagnetycznego jest znaczna. Na potwierdzenie tych tez autorzy tej jak i poprzedniej pracy zaprezentowali odpowiedzi czasowe, wykresy logarytmicznego dekrementu tłumienia oraz charakterystyki rezonansowe badanego układu.

The paper present theoretical and experimental studies of the energy dissipation performance of a composite structure composed in a multilayer nano-composite damping coating applied on a tungsten carbide shim and placed beneath the cutting insert. The coated shim placed closed to the cutting zone is subjected to high compressive and shear stresses as well as high temperature. Therefore, apart from high damping capacity it requires high stiffness and high thermal resistance. The coated shim dissipates the high frequency oscillations produced at the tool-chip and tool-workpiece interfaces during the chip forming process. The use of coated shims demonstrates that the tool life is considerably extended, while the machined surface integrity is improved. The Reuss model of the composite structure composed of a phase with a stiff, low loss factor and a phase with high loss factor is used to calculate the optimal coating thickness that gives high loss factor combined with high stiffness. The synthesis process of the coating material using HiPIMS process is discussed. The physical characteristics of the coating and the machining performance are presented in the experimental section.

Deep analysis of the control plant brings many useful information for the designer of the control system. The analysis is also important part in the design of active vibration control system. The coupling of different dynamical phenomena in rotating machinery leads to unstable vibrations. Usually, the coupling effects are caused by changing parameters. Angular speed or rotor unbalance in some applications are such parameters which change in the wide range. The problem is to find for which angular speeds we have unstable torsional/lateral vibrations. Usually, the unstable regions are in the vicinity of angular speeds where maps of natural frequencies for both dynamical systems cross each other. In the paper there was explained which intersection of torsional and lateral natural frequencies are unstable and why. The root locus method was used to explain the phenomenon. It indicated such control procedures which amplify the positive (stabilizing) mechanisms in the rotor dynamics. Such procedures can also lead to the energy saving control laws. In the case of lateral vibrations there were considered four control strategies. And these strategies were compared to indicate optimal one.

This article aims to study experimentally the dynamic properties and traffic safety actions for gondola cars with bogies with diagonal links, operated on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The main results obtained during tests of gondola cars on bogie with diagonal links when they move along straight and curved sections as well as on switches are presented. The estimation of: dynamics coefficients, stability margin coefficients against derailment, lateral forces transmitted from the wheel to the rail, ratio of frame forces to a static load from the wheelset on the rails, and accelerations are made. The paper analyses the simulation of a polymer layer of rubber vibration absorber, to be installed between the rubbing surfaces, such as the link side of frame axle unit, and host unit is open-bearing, with lateral support of the three-piece freight car bogies, operating on the territory of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The model developed in this article consists of a rheological model of a Maxwell cell, a Fancher spring and an element which has the function of non-linearity. The simulation model can be used to study the characteristics of vibration dampers, gaskets and other power elements that have polymer properties and are installed at other types of transport and not only.

In this study, possible options for the active damping of a smart beam with piezoelectric patches using neural network control algorithm, are presented. The algorithms used for the control are Neural Direct Inverse and Feedback Linearisation (NARMA-L2). Additionally, several possible modifications used for the purpose of improving the control, such as different values of control gain or sampling time of the training data, as well as step-wise control are tested.

The paper deals with the control design of semi-active seat suspension systems. A semi-active vibration control strategy basing on the inverse dynamics of a spring or damper element and a primary controller is studied. The optimisation procedure proposed in the paper makes it possible to calculate controller settings and these, in turn, to define vibroisolation properties of semi-active suspension systems.
W pracy przedstawiono sposób projektowania systemu sterowania semi-aktywnym układem zawieszenia siedziska. Analizowano algorytm sterowania semi-aktywnego, który bazuje na modelu odwrotnym elementu sprężystego lub tłumiącego oraz na kontrolerze głównym. Procedura optymalizacji zaproponowana w pracy dodatkowo wspomaga dobór nastaw regulatora, ktore to nastawy definiują właściwości wibroizolacyjne semi-aktywnego układu zawieszenia.

The paper compares three vector control strategies for elimination of torsion vibrations. The first algorithm is based on classical IPD controller of the system with flexible coupling described in state space. The second algorithm is based on force dynamics control and the third one exploits sliding mode control. All three algorithms respect vector control of synchronous motor with permanent magnets. Matlab-Simulink environment is used to evaluate performance of all three control algorithms.

The need to design a friction damper for glass-making robots arose because of the excessive vibrations, which occur in the course of their work. The robots are commonly used in the manufacture of glassware. The vibrations adversely affect the work of ball gatherers, which results in a large number of defects in the finished glass products. As a result of the vibrations molten glass may become unevenly distributed on the ball's surface and as the material flows down the ball into the mould the thermal conditions of its solidification may change. It is proposed to damp the vibrations by means of a prototype friction damper mounted directly on the ball gatherer lance. The glass-making robot lance with the friction damper was modelled. The vibrations of the glass-making robot lance tip under static load and impact excitation were measured during simulations. Also the relative displacements of the damper rings in the course of the excitations were measured. Moreover, the dependence between the preload force and the system's damping decrement was determined. The main aim was to select proper operating parameters for the proposed structure in order to obtain maximum system damping.

The main source of vibration in the engine piston is the work of the piston – crank, and swapping reciprocating motion to the rotary motion. In this paper are described among others the crankshaft vibration which result in the occurrence of cyclic forces such as forces pressure of gas and inertia forces. In addition were made the analysis of longitudinal vibration of the crankshaft, which are these vibrations are an important problem in high-power vessels’ engines. Regardless of the dynamic system in which the engine is running the greatest threat for crankshaft are the torsional vibrations. The possibilities of vibration damping of the crankshaft in the engine also were discussed.

W pracy przedstawiono model matematyczny zespołu amortyzującego zawierającego sprężynę pneumatyczną w postaci siłownika pneumatycznego współpracującego ze zbiornikiem dodatkowym. Sformułowano zadanie optymalizacyjne z dwoma kryteriami (przyspieszeniowym i przemieszczeniowym) i wykorzystując system Matlab Simulink przeprowadzono jego rozwiązanie. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki obliczeń i trudności jakie autorzy napotkali. Przeanalizowano przyczyny tych problemów i wskazano jak im ewentualnie zapobiec. Praca stanowi wycinek szerszych badań prowadzonych przez autorów.
The paper deals with modelling and numerical investigations of a vibration damping system containing the pneumatic spring connected to an additional air reservoir. The pneumatic spring is built on the basis of pneumatic cylinder, therefore its effective area is constant and does not depend on the pneumatic spring deflection. A guidance mechanism, which is used for suspending the isolated object, is not taken into account in this paper. Using simulation model of this system, the optimisation procedure is proposed in order to improve dynamic properties of the vibration damping structure. The maximum magnitude of the system transfer function and the maximum relative displacement of the suspension are chosen to be conflicting optimisation criteria. The decision variables are defined as the system parameters that have an influence on the viscoelastic force characteristics of the vibration damping system. The optimisation task formulated in this way is solved with use of Matlab Simulink software. The paper presents the optimisation results and describes the difficulties met. The difficulties are analysed and some practical directions for other researchers are pointed out. This paper is only a part of the complex investigations performed by the authors.

In vibration control with piezoceramics, a high coupling of the piezoelement with the structure is desired. A high coupling improves the damping performance of passive techniques like shunt damping. The coupling can be influenced by a the material properties of the piezoceramics, but also by the placement within the structure and the size of the transducer. Detailed knowlegde about the vibration behavior of the structure is required for this. This paper presents an in-depth analysis of the optimal shape of piezoelectric elements. General results for one-dimensional, but inhomogeneos strain distribution are provided. These results are applied to the case of a longitudinal transducer and a bending bimorph. It is obtained that for maximum coupling, only a certain fracture of the volume should be made of piezoelectric material. . .

In this paper, analysis of a half-car model with linear and nonlinear semi-active dampers is performed. Using Matlab-Simulink software, a response of the system to a harmonic excitation of variable frequency and to an impulse excitation is found. The effect of both the distribution of spring-supported mass and the asymmetry of the support on the frequency characteristics of velocities and displacements at the mounting points of the dampers are analyzed. Additionally, characteristics of forces generated by the semi-active dampers and the response of the system when crossing an obstacle are determined.
