Opis:
In this article, we propose a new stopping criterion for turbo codes. This criterion is based on the behaviour of the probabilistic values alpha 'α' calculated in the forward recursion during turbo decoding. We called this criterion Sum-α. The simulation results show that the Bit Error Rates BER are very close to those of the Cross-Entropy CE criterion with the same average number of iterations.

The paper presents three main definitions of theoretical entity: basic definition, definition from unobservability, and ontological definition. These are the definitions of theoretical entity that are most popular and widely accepted by philosophers of science (both realists and antirealists). All these definitions contain significant defects, which lead to unacceptable conclusions. The author also offers an alternative definition from explanation, which avoids the defects of previous definitions. The aim of the paper is to prove that proper definition of theoretical entity is necessary in debates over scientific realism. To make a legitimate claim about the existence of theoretical entities, one should know what theoretical entity really is.

As a result of the severe practical and ethical constraints imposed on medical measurements, the parameter estimation procedure designed for diagnosis and therapy is often a difficult problem. When blood sampling provides the data, the number of samples and the observation interval should be minimized. Designing an experiment for parameter estimation requires a step known as quantitative experiment design, usually preceded by a step called qualitative experiment design. The latter answers if a model is identifiable under particular experimental conditions. The former is suitable for the purpose of obtaining the maximum information from the data to be collected. An experiment design is based on the optimization of a suitable criterion formulated with respect to the analyzed variables of the experiment (input shape, sampling schedule). This paper considers sampling schedule design. New criteria for new optimal sampling schedules (OSS) have been formulated on the basis of sensitivity function. These are referred to as S-OSS and RS-OSS designs. The results of optimization for both criteria are compared with the result obtained with a reputable established D-optimal design based on the Fisher information matrix. By showing the results of S-OSS and RS-OSS design we can present the reliability and efficiency of the new criteria in comparison to D-OSS design. Illustrative examples are presented.

The paper presents strategies for implementing decomposition based genetic algorithms in multicriteria design optimization. The decomposition approach requires that the system design problem be partitioned into smaller sized subsystems, and the system solution obtained as a combination of the solutions from the subsystems. The absence of gradient information in a genetic algorithm based search strategy requires alternative methods for communicating the design information in different subsystems. Two newly developed methods referred to as experiental inheritance and interspecies migration were used to coordinate the solutions of subsystems in the decomposition based approach. Both the weighted sum and weighted minimax methods were explored in the solution to the multicriteria design problem. The proposed strategies were validated through implementation in representative algebraic and structural design problems.
W pracy zaprezentowano metodę zastosowania genetycznych algorytmów opartych na zagadnieniu wielokryterialnej optymalizacji obiektu. Zagadnienie dekompozycji wymaga rozbicia danego zadania na mniejsze podproblemy i znalezienia cząstkowych rozwiązań, by w efekcie otrzymać rozwiązanie ogólne na podstawie wcześniej wyznaczonych cząstkowych. Brak gradientowego charakteru informacji w metodzie poszukiwania rozwiązania opartej na algorytmie genetycznym skłania do zastosowania alternatywnej metody przekazu informacji pomiędzy obszarami rozbitych grup problemowych. W zagadnieniu dekompozycji użyto dwie nowosformułowane metody określone mianem dziedziczenia eksperymentalnego i migracji międzygatunkowej. W poszukiwaniu rozwiązania zadania wielokryterialnej optymalizacji obiektu wykorzystano metody sumy ważonej i wartości min-max. Zaproponowane strategie postępowania zweryfikowano na reprezentatywnych modelach algebraicznych i projektowych.

In the paper the results of evaluation of the temperature and stress fields during four cycles of the heat treatment process of the windmill shaft has been presented. The temperature field has been calculated from the solution to the heat conduction equation over the whole heat treatment cycles of the windmill shaft. To calculate the stress field an incremental method has been used. The relations between stresses and strains have been described by Prandtl-Reuss equation for the elastic-plastic body. In order to determine the changes in the temperature and stress fields during heat treatment of the windmill shaft self-developed software utilizing the Finite Element Method has been used. This software can also be used to calculate temperature changes and stress field in ingots and other axially symmetric products. In the mathematical model of heating and cooling of the shaft maximum values of the strains have been determined, which allowed to avoid the crack formation. The critical values of strains have been determined by using modified Rice and Tracy criterion.

We show that any choice correspondence which satisfies the weak Pareto criterion and the Majority property must violate the no-spoiler condition. Subsequently we strengthen the weak Pareto criterion. We show that if the number of criteria or individuals or states of nature is odd, then there is no choice correspondence which satisfies this strengthened version of weak Pareto criteria, Majority property and no-loser spoiler condition. However if the number of criteria/individuals/states of nature is even, we need two more properties to ensure the impossibility result. The first of these two properties is top neutrality. The second property is top anonymity.

W artykule przedstawione zostały metody oceny autotermiczności wytłaczarki ślimakowo-tarczowej. Jednym z zagadnień jest określenie kryterium elementarnego i kompleksowego oceny autotermiczności wytłaczarki ślimakowo-tarczowej, a drugim określenie przestrzeni, w której występuje autotermiczność, a także określenie jej wpływu na uplastycznianie i jednorodność tworzywa w strefie tarczowej wytłaczarki ślimakowo-tarczowej.
The paper deals with methods for measurement and evaluation of autothermity of an innovative, experimental, autothermal screw-disk extruder used for processing polymer materials [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9] (Figs. 1, 2). One of the problems presented in the paper concerns determination of the elementary criteria for evaluation of the screw-disk extrude autothermity, namely thermal stability - St ε {0, 2, 4, 6, 8} (Fig. 3) and the quality of extrudate - Jw ε {I, II, III}, where Jw = I means good quality of extrudate, Jw = II means nearly good quality of fusion and homogenization of extrudate and Jw = III means poor fusion of extrudate (Fig. 4), and also the complex criterion for evaluation of autothermity, that provides a general state of autothermity - Ja ε {0, 2, 4, 6, 8}. The second problem is deter-mining the space in which the autothermity occurs (Fig. 5), as well as its influence on plasticization and homogeneity of material in a disk zone of a screw-disk extruder [10, 11, 12, 13, 14]. The above elementary and complex criteria make it possible for the quality of the extrusion autothermity in a screw-disk extruder to be expressed comprehensively, whereas the nature of the spaces obtained allows an influence of individual factors on achieving the autothermal effect of extrusion in a screw-disk extruder to be analysed.

We consider nonzero-sum semi-Markov games with a countable state space and compact metric action spaces. We assume that the payoff, mean holding time and transition probability functions are continuous on the action spaces. The main results concern the existence of Nash equilibria for nonzero-sum discounted semi-Markov games and a class of ergodic semi-Markov games with the expected average payoff criterion.

Development of nautical tourism in Montenegro, seen as a potentially profitable industry segment has started twenty years ago. The first steps taken in this direction were defining the legal framework, in particular: Law on Coastal Zone, Tourism Master Plan of Montenegro, Law on Yachts, followed by establishment of supporting organizations - Maritime Safety Department of Montenegro, Port Authorities and Border Police Department. Having invested efforts in adoption of planning documents and enactment of legislation relating to nautical tourism in recent period, Montenegro is seeking to impose itself as an important nautical destination. The first serious step towards achieving this goal was construction of a world-class marina Porto Montenegro in Tivat in 2010. The Special Purpose Spatial Plan for Coastal Zone provides for development of network of marinas to be constructed on the Montenegrin Coast. In the light of this, contribution of this paper is reflected in application of multi-criteria optimization in defining an optimum order of marina construction. The paper defines selection of criterion functions from the aspects of ecology, economy, security, specific aspect and aspect of suitability assessment for the location. The paper also presents the process of defining different criterion weights. The multi-criteria analysis determines a compromise solution for marina planning at Montenegrin Coast, which reconciles conflicting interests. The compromise solution is only a proposal, while a final decision remains with a decision maker.

At present, ship model tests are based on the normal mode at home and abroad. With the development and application of abnormal hydraulic model, it is necessary to study abnormal ship model. The similarity criterion of abnormal ship model is deduced from the similarity theory of normal hydraulic model in this paper. Some factors that affect the maneuverability of the abnormal ship model are discussed by theoretical analysis of ship maneuvering. The influence of the K and T index of different variable rate on the abnormal ship model maneuvering and the dimensional effect of the abnormal ship model are obtained, which can be used as a reference for the study of the abnormal ship model.

In this paper an approach appealing to a regression depth concept is applied to a robust detection of points (moments) of a regression coefficients change. The propositions are compared with propositions based on Schwarz information criterion and discussed in the context of linear mixed models.
W referacie przedstawiamy pewne propozycje dotyczące odpornego wykrywania punktu (chwili), w którym następuje zmiana współczynników regresji liniowej. Propozycje odwołują się do koncepcji głębi regresyjnej przedstawionej przez Rousseeuw i Hubert (1998). Własności proponowanego podejścia porównujemy z podejściem wykorzystującym kryterium informacyjne Schwarza oraz dyskutujemy je w kontekście liniowych modeli mieszanych.

Linear separability of data sets is one of the basic concepts in the theory of neural networks and pattern recognition. Data sets are often linearly separable because of their high dimensionality. Such is the case of genomic data, in which a small number of cases is represented in a space with extremely high dimensionality. An evaluation of linear separability of two data sets can be combined with feature selection and carried out through minimisation of a convex and piecewise-linear (CPL) criterion function. The perceptron criterion function belongs to the CPL family. The basis exchange algorithms allow us to find minimal values of CPL functions efficiently, even in the case of large, multidimensional data sets.
