In this paper, we give a sufficient condition for a graph to contain vertex-disjoint stars of a given size. It is proved that if the minimum degree of the graph is at least k+t-1 and the order is at least (t+1)k + O(t²), then the graph contains k vertex-disjoint copies of a star $K_{1,t}$. The condition on the minimum degree is sharp, and there is an example showing that the term O(t²) for the number of uncovered vertices is necessary in a sense.

A subgraph of an edge-colored graph is called rainbow if all of its edges have different colors. For a graph G and a positive integer n, the anti-Ramsey number ar(n,G) is the maximum number of colors in an edge-coloring of Kn with no rainbow copy of H. Anti-Ramsey numbers were introduced by Erdos, Simonovits and Sós and studied in numerous papers. Let G be a graph with anti-Ramsey number ar(n, G). In this paper we show the lower bound for ar(n,pG), where pG denotes p vertex-disjoint copies of G. Moreover, we prove that in some special cases this bound is sharp.

The Turán number of a graph H, denoted by ex(n, H), is the maximum number of edges of an n-vertex simple graph having no H as a subgraph. Let Sℓ denote the star on ℓ + 1 vertices, and let k · Sℓ denote k disjoint copies of Sℓ. Erdős and Gallai determined the value ex(n, k · S1) for all positive integers k and n. Yuan and Zhang determined the value ex(n, k · S2) and characterized all extremal graphs for all positive integers k and n. Recently, Lan et al. determined the value ex(n, 2 · S3) for all positive integers n, and Li and Yin determined the values ex(n, k · Sℓ) for k = 2, 3 and all positive integers ℓ and n. In this paper, we further determine the value ex(n, 4 · Sℓ) for all positive integers ℓ and almost all n, improving one of the results of Lidický et al.

Opis:
The catalogue of copies from the Roman-German Central Museum (Mainz) poses an opportunity to present to the modern researcher the volume of Prussian archaeological material available on the second floor dedicated to the 19th century. By collecting what is considered the most representative exhibits, the museum authorities put on display items copied in Mainz and stored in Prussia-Museum (Königsberg). They were created by masters from Aesti and Prussia. The only imports among the small array of findings published in the catalogue include a helmet from the Dollkeim-Kovrovo burial ground (its local origin has not been excluded) and a lock and key from the Löbertshof cemetery / Tyulenino.

The content of this article is based on source studies in creative activity of Johann Jocob Froberger (1616–1667). The author aims to present the current stage of these studies, which are based on surviving sheet music from the Baroque period, as well as modern editions of Froberger’s works. Musical sources such as the composer’s autographs, copies of his works from the XVII and XVIII centuries, and the earliest printed editions are presented. Froberger’s most valuable preserved sources are his autographs: Libro Secondo di Toccate, Fantasie, Canzone, Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Gigue, et altre Partite; Libro quarto di Toccate, Ricercari, Capricci, Allemande, Gigue, Courante, Sarabande, and Libro di capricci e ricercati), located at the Österreiche Nationalbibliothek in Vienna; also, a new autograph was recently found and sold in the Sotheby in London on 30 November 2006. Besides the above-mentioned autographs, there are many preserved copies that include compositions other than those in the surviving autographs. In recent years, several valuable sources with Froberger’s compositions have been found. First of all, manuscript No. SA 4450 (Berlin, Sing-Akademie) and Bulyowsky Ms. (Dresden, Sächsische Landesbibliothek Staats- und Universitäts-Bibliothek). First editions of Froberger’s works are of no lesser value to the studies in his music. These sources are the basis of modern editions of Froberger’s works. Until now, there have been several critical editions of “complete works” of the composer.

We identify the class of Caldern-Lozanovskii spaces that do not contain an asymptotically isometric copy of \(\ell_1\), and consequently we obtain the corresponding characterizations in the classes of Orlicz-Lorentz and Orlicz spaces equipped with the Luxemburg norm. We also give a~complete description of order continuous Orlicz-Lorentz spaces which contain (order) isometric copies of \(\ell_1^{(n)}\) for each integer \(n \geq 2\).~As an application we provide necessary and sufficient conditions for order continuous Orlicz-Lorentz spaces to contain an (order) isometric copy of \(\ell_1\).~In particular we give criteria in Orlicz and Lorentz spaces for (order) isometric containment of \(\ell_1^{(n)}\) and \(\ell_1\).~The results are applied to obtain the~description of universal Orlicz-Lorentz spaces for all two-dimensional normed spaces.

A simple graph G admits an H-covering if every edge in E(G) belongs to at least to one subgraph of G isomorphic to a given graph H. For the subgraph H ⊆ G under a total k-labeling we define the associated H-weight as the sum of labels of all vertices and edges belonging to H. The total k-labeling is called the H-irregular total k-labeling of a graph G admitting an H-covering if all subgraphs of G isomorphic to H have distinct weights. The total H-irregularity strength of a graph G is the smallest integer k such that G has an H-irregular total k-labeling. In this paper, we estimate lower and upper bounds on the total H-irregularity strength for the disjoint union of multiple copies of a graph and the disjoint union of two non-isomorphic graphs. We also prove the sharpness of the upper bounds.

Tworzenie replik krajobrazu lub odtwarzanie jego elementów pochodzących często z odległych kulturowo obszarów nie jest zjawiskiem nowym. Duży wpływ na rozpowszechnienie tego zjawiska miały podróże i rozwój turystyki, a szczególnie osiemnastowieczne podróże Grand Tour. Podróżnicy, zainspirowani doświadczeniem włoskiego krajobrazu i zafascynowani osiągnięciami starożytnej architektury, pragnęli przeszczepiać choć fragmenty w swoich okolicach. Na wzór osiemnastowiecznych Grand Tours, również współczesne podróże wzbudzają pragnienie posiadania chociaż cząstki wspaniałych założeń architektonicznych i podziwianych krajobrazów. Kopie krajobrazowe powstałe w wyniku urzeczywistnienia takich pragnień często same cieszą się dużą popularnością jako atrakcje turystyczne. W artykule przedstawiono zjawisko kopiowania krajobrazu kulturowego na przykładzie kręgów cywilizacji zachodniej i wschodniej cywilizacji chińskiej. Scharakteryzowano odmienne podejście kulturowe do kopii obiektów i miejsc w obu kręgach cywilizacyjnych oraz motywy tworzenia kopii krajobrazowych powstających w przeszłości i współcześnie. Naświetlono też problematykę kopii krajobrazowych jako gotowego produktu turystycznego.
Creation of landscape replicas or recreating its elements originating from culturally distant areas is not a new phenomenon. This phenomenon spread was significantly influenced by traveling and tourism development and especially by the 18th century Grand Tour journeys. Travelers, inspired by the Italian landscape experience and fascinated by the ancient architecture achievements, wished to have at least a piece of it on their own. Similarly to the 18th century Grand Tours also contemporary travels arouse desires to own part of magnificent architectonic complexes or admired landscape. Landscape copies which are realization of these desires often become popular tourists’ attractions. In the article the phenomenon of cultural landscape coping was presented on example of western civilization and Chinese civilization. Different cultural approach to copies in both civilizations and motives of landscape copies creation in the past and in present times was characterized. Issues concerning landscape copies as tourist product was also outlined.

The article explores changes in writing and copying labour contracts from the first centuries of the Roman rule in Egypt to Late Antiquity. During the first centuries, some labour contracts – antichretic loans and wet nurses contracts – were notarial documents registered in public archives and copied at least twice. Labour contracts written in chirographic form, whose number grew from the second century on, were not necessarily registered, in which case the parties had to choose whether they wanted to make a second private copy. In Late Antiquity, chirographs drafted by private scribes and authenticated by notaries (ταβελλίωνες) were the norm; in the Oxyrhynchite nome, a reform obliged the scribes to notify whether the text was copied once or more. This new habit allows us to see that only work contracts relat- ed to liturgies (fiscal collection, and public postal or transport duties) were copied twice, as was already the norm in the Oxyrhynchites in the third century. All other private work agreements and antichretic loans were issued only once, to the benefit of the employer/creditor.

Celem artykułu były przedstawienie oraz próba ustalenia autorstwa, czasu i okolicznościpowstania nieznanego zbioru odrysów pieczęci miejskich Apparatus Sigillorum Pomeraniae et Rugiae Civitatum. Dzieło zachowało się do naszych czasów w pozostałościach tzw. Biblioteki Ostenów, do której trafiło w 1773 roku. Lakoniczne zapiski na okładce dzieła wskazują na jego pochodzenie z kolekcji Matthäusa Heinricha Liebeherra. Na podstawie analizy estetyki wykonania odrysów możemy przypuszczać, że dzieło posiadało kilku rysowników, być może było uzupełniane przez kolejnego właściciela. Z treści zapisków dorsalnych można wywnioskować, że autor korzystał z pieczęci znajdujących się w zbiorach pomorskich uczonych skupionych w stowarzyszeniu Collectores Historiae et Juris Patrii, prawdopodobnie też sama działalność tegoż stowarzyszenia mogła stanowić inspirację do skatalogowania pieczęci pomorskich miast.
The purpose of the article is presentation of an unknown collection of copies of the municipal seals Apparatus Sigillorum Pomeraniae et Rugiae Civitatum and an attempt to establish authorship, time, and circumstances of its origin. The work survived among the remnants of the so called Ostens Library, where it came in 1773. Brief notes made on its cover suggest that it originates from the collection of Matthäus Heinrich Liebherr. The analysis of the aesthetic of the executed copies allows a supposition that there were several drawers and the work could be completed by the successive owners. The content of the dorsal notes implies that the author used the seals from the collections of Pomeranian scholars belonging to the society Collectores Historiae et Juris Patrii. It is likely that the activity of this society inspired the compilation of the catalogue of the Pomeranian towns’ seals.

The article focuses on the history of the Book of Revelation of St. John the Theologian among Orthodox Slavs in the Middle Ages. The aim is to present its place among the other biblical books, related to Cyril and Methodius’ literary tradition and follow its origin, its way of life and spreading in the Slavia Orthodoxa. The two main versions of the distribution of the book are presented – without interpretations and with the interpretations of St. Andrew of Caesarea, while the specifics of the basic versions of the book are also presented (East Slavonic and South Slavic versions with commentaries, Bosnian Cyrillic version, the earliest Serbian transcript, Croatian Glagolitic fragments, Bulgarian calendar version). An opinion has been expressed that a common initial translation is at the root of all these versions of the book, which was accompanied by interpretations, and probably made in Bulgaria at the end of 9th–10th C. Subsequently, it has been edited at different Times and in different locations, placed in the composition of different collections, or as a separate book.

The Parish Church of St Michael the Archangel in Umień (formerly Umienie, Koło district) possesses one of the early copies of the image of Our Lady of Częstochowa (Figs 1,8). The oil painting on canvas features the Blessed Virgin Mary and Jesus in gem-embossed gowns, the Virgin is wearing a jewelled crown. The iconography as well as the work’s stylistic features allow to associate it with a set of numerous copies of the painting of Our Lady of Częstochowa created in the workshop of a Cracow painter, Franciszek Śmiadecki (Figs. 2,3), active in 1596-1615. The first parish church in Umień was built in the 14th c. The current, wooden structure was raised in the 1st half of the 17th c. (Figs 6,7,8) by the contemporary heir of Umień, Wacław Kiełczewski, a courtier of King Sigismund III Vasa. Kiełczewski was also the founder of the Mannerist altar and the painting of Our Lady of Częstochowa in the side chapel of the church. After the 1755 fire, the surviving painting was placed in the new high altar, where it remains to this day (Fig.8).

Recently in Poland, there have been conducted activities promoting research work conducted by legal historians. They include digitizing and making archival sources available in digital form. First and foremost, digital copies of civil registry files, record books, files of administrative bodies and family archives are made. For any researcher dealing with the law of the Kingdom of Poland, the digitalization of files of central administration bodies, acts of territorial administration bodies, civil status records and notarial deeds is of utmost importance. Digital copies of archives are, among others, available on the Internet. This is a great convenience for legal historians: it not only shortens the time of reaching sources and allows one to read their content, but also contributes to a significant reduction in the cost of running a source query, due to the lack of the necessity to go to the archive. Making digital copies available on various websites is very time-consuming and it requires considerable financial resources, but allows one to conduct source queries on an unprecedented scale. It is an invaluable support for legal historians and can contribute to the development of this scientific discipline.
W ostatnich latach podejmowane są w Polsce działania sprzyjające pracy badawczej prowadzonej przez historyków prawa. Polegają one na digitalizacji i udostępnianiu w formie cyfrowej źródeł archiwalnych. W pierwszej kolejności sporządza się kopie cyfrowe akt stanu cywilnego, ksiąg metrykalnych, akt organów administracji oraz archiwów rodzinnych. Dla badacza zajmującego się prawem sądowym Królestwa Polskiego najistotniejsza jest digitalizacja akt organów administracji centralnej, akt organów administracji terytorialnej, akt stanu cywilnego i aktów notarialnych. Kopie cyfrowe archiwaliów są między innymi udostępniane w Internecie. Stanowi to wielkie ułatwienie dla historyków prawa: nie tylko skraca czas dotarcia do źródeł i pozwala zapoznać się z ich treścią, ale przyczynia się również do znacznego obniżenia kosztów prowadzenia kwerendy źródłowej, w związku z brakiem konieczności udawania się do siedziby archiwum. Udostępnianie kopii cyfrowych na stronach archiwów oraz na innych portalach jest bardzo czasochłonne i wymaga znacznych środków finansowych, ale pozwala na prowadzenie kwerendy źródłowej na niespotykaną dotychczas skalę. Jest nieocenionym wsparciem dla historyków prawa i może przyczynić się do rozwoju tej dyscypliny naukowej.

Opis:
The commentary addressed the issue of the author’s entitlement to receive compensation for droit de suite. In particular, it clarifies the rules of conduct of the obligated party. The commentary supports the ruling of the Court of Appeal, unifying interpretations regarding the characteristics of the claim for payment submitted on the basis of the droit de suite.
W glosie poruszona została problematyka uprawnienia twórcy do wynagrodzenia z tytułu droit de suite. W szczególności wykładni poddano przepisy określające podmiot zobowiązany. Glosowane orzeczenie potwierdza przyjętą przez Sąd Apelacyjny linię orzeczniczą, ujednolicając poglądy dotyczące charakterystyki roszczenia o zapłatę zgłoszonego w oparciu o droit de suite.
