In the few traditional Arabic grammatical sources that address the term parentheticals it is usually defined as the insertion of a clause between two other clauses, or between two syntactic components, for taʼkīd “emphasis.” In this article I examine Qurʼānic parenthetical clauses in the theoretical framework of relevance theory. It transpires that the parenthetical clause is placed where it achieves optimal relevance and therfore the conveyed utterance does not require the addresses to waste any efforts trying to procees the information and correctly interpret it. Optimal relevance also means having a contextual effect. The Qur’ānic parenthetical clauses have one of the following contextual effects: They serve to affirm God’s omnipotence, indicating that only God produces suras, created heaven and earth. He is the forgiver and all depends on His will; to explain what it meant by a specific statement or to explain the reason behind a certain action; to qualify, to highlight a specific characterization, for example, one of the parenthetical clauses modify the Qur’ān as the truth from God; to provide background information, which could explain further developments in the narrative.

The intelligent decision making requires the consideration of current contextual information. The article is devoted to construction of formal models for the presentation and usage of contextual information for decision-making in the field of employment. The paper analyses existing approaches to the definition of the concept of context at the conceptual level. The results of comparison of formal context models taking into consideration the requirements for employment business processes are presented. The ontological approach is selected as a basis for contextual models specification. The paper presents the formal representation of the context models for business operations of the employment sector. The model of contextual graphs for the solution of the problem of employment business operations context refinement was developed.

The presented study aims at increasing positive attitude of students as good citizens through the integration of character education in social studies with CTL approach. This research was classroom action research and the subjects of this research were 38 fifth-grade pupils of Elementary School SD Negeri 07 Panreng Sinjai. The study involved collaborators that were fifth-grade teachers who acted as the implementing action. Data were obtained through a test scale of attitude as the main data and supporting data were collected through observation and self-report. The research showed some findings. First, the integration of character education in teaching social studies is conducted by instilling the values of character education in learning with the social studies content and applying some of the components in the CTL. Second, there is continuous improvement of the integration of character education in social studies with the CTL approach from the first cycle to the third cycle. Based on the results of attitude tests on the citizenship subject in the first cycle, there was no student classified as very positive (0%), 44.73% of students were classified as positive, 39.47% negative, and 15.76% very negative. In the second cycle, there were 23.68% of students classified as very positive, 44.73% positive, 26.31% negative, and 5.26% very negative. In the third cycle, there were 18.42% of students classified as very positive, 78.94% positive, 2.63% negative and 0% very negative. Thus, the integrated character education in social studies can improve the attitude of a good citizen in fifth-grade pupils of SD Negeri 07 Panreng Sinjai.

The paper presents a proof-theoretic semantics account of contextual domain restriction for quantified sentences in a fragment of English. First, the technique is exemplified in the more familiar first-order logic, and in its restricted quantification variant. Then, a proof-theoretic semantics for the NL fragment is reviewed, and extended to handling contextual domain restriction. The paper addresses both the descriptive facet of the problem, deriving meaning relative to a context, as well as the fundamental aspect, defining explicitly a context (suitable for quantifier domain restriction), and specifying what it is about such a context that brings about the variation of meaning due to it. The paper argues for the following principle (the context incorporation principle, CIP): for every quantified sentence S depending on a context c, there exists a sentence S′, the meaning of which is independent of c, s.t. the contextually restricted meaning of S is equal to the meaning of S′. Thus, the effect of a context can always be internalized. The current model-theoretic accounts of contextual domain restriction do not satisfy CIP, in that they imply intersection of some extension with an arbitrary subset of the domain, that need not be the denotation of any NL-expression.

Artykuł porusza zagadnienia kontekstu w architekturze, jego wpływ na kształtowanie, odbiór i ocenę istniejących oraz powstających budowli. W tekście zwrócono uwagę na różnorodność odniesień kontekstualnych (przestrzeń, tło historyczne, konstrukcja i materiał, tradycja) oraz ich znaczenie w procesie projektowania architektonicznego. W świetle dzisiejszych działań przestrzennych ważne okazuje się respektowanie kontekstu jako jednego z istotniejszych kryteriów tworzenia wartościowej i szczerej architektury odpowiadającej potrzebom użytkowników i pozostającej w interesujących relacjach z otoczeniem.
The article raises a subject of context in architecture, its influence on shape, perception and evaluation of existing and erecting buildings. In the text the attention is paid to diverse forms of context (referring to space, historical conditions, construction and materials, tradition) and their meaning in the architecture design. In the light of today spatial actions and planning it is turning out that it is important to respect context as a one of the most relevant criteria of creating valuable and honest architecture, which suits to its users needs and which remains in interesting relations with its surroundings.

Freedom as a subject of academic research in psychology has always been confined to a space regarded as difficult to explore. Since the beginning of psychology as a branch of science, the discussion of freedom has been fragmented. The adoption of a specific repertoire of methodological and philosophical assumptions has ignited interest in the topic and issues of freedom. The history of freedom being present in psychology is an ongoing struggle between different paradigms regarding the nature of this subject and its associated methods of examination. During the nineties of the last century, there was a shaping of the direction referring to the achievements of humanistic psychology, as emphasizing the importance of subjective human experience. The authors of this approach, taking care of a methodological workshop and conducting a series of empirical studies, have proposed a new approach to the study of freedom in psychology. The most important achievement of the phenomenological-contextual approach was to draw attention to the possibility of exploring in scientific research the phenomenon of freedom in psychology that has been rejected as a matter of the intersection of science and philosophy.

The purpose of the article is to analyze the concept of contextual emergence as well as its selected applications in philosophy of mind and cognitive science. In the first section the author presents the general assumptions of the emergentist model of reality. He stresses that the concept of emergence can be applied to the description of various levels of organization of nature: one of these levels is that of mental-cognitive processes, analyzed within the fields of philosophy of mind and cognitive science. In the subsequent sections, he introduces the definitions of contextual emergence and systemic causation and he points to their selected applications to mental-cognitive systems. In the concluding part, he presents the ideas of Gerald Edelman and Michael Gazzaniga on the role of contextual explanations as well as the concepts of emergence in the philosophy of biology and cognitive neuroscience. He also indicates the possibility of incorporating the concept of contextual emergence into active externalism and the extended cognition theory.
Celem artykułu jest analiza pojęcia emergencji kontekstowej oraz jego wybranych zastosowań w filozofii umysłu i kognitywistyce. W pierwszej sekcji autor przedstawia ogólne założenia emergentystycznego obrazu rzeczywistości. Zwraca uwagę, że pojęcie emergencji ma zastosowanie do opisu różnych poziomów rzeczywistości — jednym z nich jest poziom systemów umysłowo-‑poznawczych badany w filozofii umysłu i kognitywistyce. W kolejnych sekcjach wprowadza definicje emergencji kontekstowej oraz przyczynowości systemowej oraz wskazuje na zastosowania tych pojęć w odniesieniu do systemów umysłowo-poznawczych. W końcowej części artykułu, w nawiązaniu do prac Geralda Edelmana i Michaela Gazzanigi, omawia rolę wyjaśniania kontekstowego w biologii i neurokognitywistyce. Wskazuje również na możliwość wykorzystania pojęcia emergencji kontekstowej w analizie eksternalizmu aktywnego oraz teorii rozszerzonego poznania.
