Opis:
Two different approaches are applied for the investigation of possible changes within the climate regime – as an important component of vulnerability – on a regional scale for Saxony, Germany. Therefore data were applied from the output of the statistical climate models WETTREG2010 and WEREX-V for a projected period until 2100. In the first step, rain gauge-based precipitation regions with similar statistics have been classified. The results show that stable regions are mainly located in the Ore Mountains, while regions of higher uncertainty in terms of a climate signal exist particularly between the lowlands and mountains. In the second step, station-based data on precipitation, temperature and climatic water balance were interpolated by the regionalisation service RaKliDa. Model runs which lay closest to the observed data for the period 1968 to 2007 were identified. Therefore, regions of similar climates were classified and compared by means of a Taylor diagram. The derived patterns of the observed data are in good agreement with formerly defined climate regions. In the final step, anomalies of 10 yearlong averages from 2021 until 2090 were calculated and then spatially classified. The classification revealed four complex regions of changing climate conditions. The derived patterns show large differences in the spatial distribution of future precipitation and climatic water balance changes. In contrast, temperature anomalies are almost independent of these patterns and nearly equally distributed.

Opis:
The present work considers the Struma River on the Bulgarian territory using the integral method for evaluation of climatic and anthropogenic impacts on the river flow average annual water volume and maximum and minimum water flow. The level of this impact is determined by the index Ki (flow module), the index Ci for the deviation of the average annual water flow Qi from the flow norm Q0. the index Ki,max for the deviation of the maximum water flow Qmax,i from the flow norm Q0, the index Ki,min for the deviation of the minimum water flow Qmin,i from the flow norm Q0, the index Mi,max for the deviation of the maximum water flow from the maximum flow norm Qmax,0 the index Mi,min for the deviation of the minimum water flow from the minimum flow norm Qmin,0. The new approach offered includes the introduction of more specific indicators for assessment of climatic impacts on the river water flow like indices for flow module (Ki,av), for deviation of average (Ci), The use of the indices suggested makes possible to estimate the role of different climatic changes by Ki,av, Ki, in, Ki,max. Mi,min, Mi,max, Ci, hi and hi,max. This is made for the first time in assessment of climatic impacts and has been checked at Pernik and Krupnik for the period 1948-2006. The indices are integral in their nature because they reflect specific climatic caused events like abundant years, dry years, floods and draughts.
Dokonano oceny wpływu zmian klimatycznych i antropogennych na średni roczny przepływ wody oraz wartość maksymalnego i minimalnego przepływu wody w rzece Struma przepływającej przez terytorium Bułgarii. Parametry te są określone przez indeks Ki (wskaźnik przepływu), wskaźnik Ci średniego odchylenia rocznego przepływu wody Qi do normy przepływu Q0, indeks Ki,max maksymalnego odchylenia przepływu wody Qmax,i do normy przepływu Q0, indeks Ki,min minimalnego odchylenia przepływu wody Qmin,i do normy przepływu Q0, wskaźnik Mi,max maksymalnego odchylenia przepływu wody do maksymalnej normy przepływu Qmax,0, indeks Mi,min minimalnego odchylenia przepływu wody do minimalnej normy przepływu Qmin,0. Nowe podejście wprowadza bardziej szczegółowe wskaźniki oceny wpływu klimatu na wody rzeki, jak wskaźniki przepływu modułu (Ki,av), odchylenie średniej (Ci), Zastosowanie sugerowanych wskaźników umożliwia ocenę roli różnych zmian klimatycznych przez Ki,av, Ki,min, Ki,max, Mi,min, Mi,max. Ci, hi i hi,max. Metoda ta została zastosowana i sprawdzona w Perniku i Krupniku dla lat 1948-2006 w celu oceny skutków zmian klimatu. Indeksy te odzwierciedlają wywołane zmianami klimatycznymi szczególne wydarzenia, takie jak: lata suche, powodzie i wiatry.

The study aimed to assess the change of soil properties of land use patterns affecting drought and saline intrusion in the Ben Tre province during 2019–2020. Soil samples were taken, and the data on land use patterns of Rice, bare soil, Shrimp, and Coconut in three horizons were at 0–20 cm, 20–60 cm, and 60–100 cm. The analysis of soil pH, EC, organic matter, and bulk density was conducted to assess the changes in soil properties. The results showed that soil pH, EC, and salinity had to be slightly increased in 2020, but soil organic matter and bulk density were not changed. Therefore, the Ben Tre province’s drought and saline intrusion conditions had a negligible impact in general evaluation. However, it is necessary to perform more other studies to clarify the effects of drought and salinity.

In the paper a general safety analytical model of complex technical system related to the climateweather change process in its operating area is defined. First, the system operation at climate-weather variable conditions is given. Additionally, the semi-Markov approach is used. Further, the safety model of the multistate system at climate-weather variable conditions is introduced. The notions of the conditional safety functions at the climate-weather particular states, the unconditional safety function and the risk function of the complex system at changing in time climate-weather conditions are presented. The other safety indices like mean lifetime up to the exceeding a critical safety state, the moment when the risk function value exceeds the acceptable safety level, the intensities of ageing of the critical infrastructure and its components and the coefficients of the climate-weather impact on the critical infrastructure and its components intensities of ageing are defined.

Records of human activity in valleys of the Upper Vistula River catchment and the Upper Dniester River catchment in the area of the Eastern Carpathian Foreland are synchronic and date back to the Neolithic Period. They include alluvia and colluvia in small valleys, linked with local downpours, as well as changes in large valleys, where flooding is reflected in modifications to river channels and an acceleration in the deposition of overbank facies. Among these periods are phases determined climatically (5th–7th centuries AD) and those reflecting human activity (1st–3rd centuries AD), as well as phases recording the coincidence of both factors (middle Neolithic, 10th–11th centuries AD and the Little Ice Age). The most distinct changes leading to transformation in valley slopes and bottoms are linked with the coincidence of humid climatic phases and periods of increased human impact.

The currently observed increase in human activity in the Arctic accelerates the negative impact on the environment as well as increases the risk of threats to mankind itself. This paper reviews and summarises a selection of studies on the interaction between humans and the environment in the Arctic coastal zone, which is impacted by a warming climate and associated geohazards. The paper presents a general description of human presence in the Arctic, identifies and describes the processes that are threatening the infrastructure, and the anthropogenic processes that have a negative impact on the Arctic. It considers the possible future economic opportunities, and presents the sustainable requirements for modern human activity in the Arctic. The paper demonstrates the urgent need to develop a common, Arctic-wide strategy based on sustainable development. The time has come to change human perception of the Arctic because, in the near future, it may be considered as a refuge for climate change refugees.
