Opis:: Taiwan’s inclusive education has been developed fully through national legislations and local government policies since 1984 within the Special Education Act. This national law clearly mandates the concept of inclusive education for the students with special education needs starting from the age of two. This article presents two sections of research on the implementation of regulations in inclusive education. The first was at the local government level of Kaohsiung City with design for the in-service teachers training program in special education. The second one was a school-wide level focus on differentiated instruction implementation for kindergarten teachers. The document analysis, action research and case method were applied in these studies. The result of the first section study was that 52 preschool teachers completed a 60-hour special education professional course held by Kaohsiung City in 2019 to 2020. The result of the second section study was a school-wide inclusive education practical model with administrative suport and teachers’ competency in differentiated instruction of six cases. Two studies showed positive results of inclusive education practice for a municipality and a preschool level in Taiwan.

Opis:: Abstract: Study programmes in economics and management should be more focused on developing students’ critical thinking skills and the capabilities to solve practical problems. Case method is admittedly one of the best techniques to accomplish these goals. Thus, disseminating the benefits of case method in academic teaching as well as supporting case writing among scholars is of great importance. Despite the many proven benefits of the case method and the growing use of cases in teaching management and economics, it seems that the writing of cases is undertaken by not so many academics. There is evidence of the lack of support at smaller schools to potential case writers from administrators, in terms of motivation, recognition, training, time, and funding, and on the other hand, there is little awareness among faculty about international scholarships, available peer-reviewed publishing opportunities for cases, and peer support via international case conferences. This paper attempts to fill in the existing information gap and offer helpful guidance to faculty and school administrators. Aim: The aim of this paper is to support the development of case writing in the management and economics subjects by faculty of smaller universities where typically the local peer support is limited or non-existent, while the value of such academic research activity may be underestimated by school deans. The paper offers practical guidance on how to get international support while developing teaching cases. Design / Research methods: This paper is a policy analysis type of research. It is based on secondary sources as well as primary sources such as personal observations and experience of the author who has been teaching finance and business since 1995, has published the first case in 2015, has authored 10+ cases by early 2022, has received 3 international case writing awards, and has been elected to the Board of NACRA, the leading case research association in the U.S. Conclusions / findings: The use of case method in teaching management and economics has multiple benefits, including its virtuous role in school accreditations and industry-academia collaboration, as well as its powerful boost to the professional development of faculty. Faculty involvement however will remain limited unless the school deans and the accrediting bodies apply proper motivation to support academic case writing. The paper lists specific policy recommendations for promoting case research and case writing, which are feasible to implement in small universities with a limited budget. Originality / value of the article: There are currently no papers that present such an overview of the current academic case writing scene, case conferences, funding, peer-reviewed case publication opportunities, as prepared by the author based on the personal experience as finance professor and case writer. It is a unique and valuable practical guidance for faculty members who are looking to get involved in case writing or for deans who are thinking of feasible measures to promote case writing and case research by tapping into the existing global resources and opportunities. Opis:: Sustainable development in education is the basis of sustainable development of society. To ensure sustainable development in education, its principles need to be implemented in all training courses. Higher pedagogical education should provide training in designing and teaching such courses. At our universities, future primary school teachers are trained to keep their maths lessons in line with the principles of sustainable development in three key areas. The first area relates to the development of pupils’ social involvement through their acquisition of intellectual and practical skills of using maths. The second area concerns pupils’ relationship with their natural and cultural environment. Future teachers are trained to design tasks that stimulate pupils’ emotional engagement and caring attitude. The third area that future teachers are trained to target is pupils’ economic and financial competence. Teaching skills in all these areas can be developed effectively through the case method.

The foster care coordinator oversees the proper functioning of the foster family. Through visits to the social environment and contacts with representatives of the child's upbringing (ward) coordinator – in accordance with the idea of the method of individual cases – diagnoses the problems of the foster family and the child placed in it, draws up a child's help plan and works with chance. With a view to increase the effectiveness of helping children and foster families in the implementation of their educational tasks towards minors and raising the level of child's (pupil's) awareness in dealing with their own problems, the method of individual cases (stage: work with case) was enriched with the ENNEAGRAM method.

Opis:: The objective of this paper is to present the results of research carried out to develop a design method for Smart Cities systems. The method is based on the analysis of design cases of Smart Cities systems in cities, the selection of the city appropriate to the requirements for implementation and application. The Case Based Reasoning method was used to develop the proposed design methodology, along with mechanisms of the conversion of project processes and roles to Rational Unified Processes (RUP). The prerequisite for the proposed method is that the enterprise manager must be knowledgeable about high-level Smart Cities system architecture and the design framework applied. The authors, being themselves knowledgeable about architecture of this kind and about project environments which implement KPI models, propose a generic solution applicable to any environments and system architectures.
Celem artykułu jest prezentacja wyników badań nad opracowaniem metody projektowania systemów Smart Cities. Metoda ta bazuje na analizie przypadków projektowania systemów Smart Cities w miastach, wyborze spełniającego wymagania zdecydowanego na wdrożenie ośrodka i zastosowaniu. Do budowy proponowanej metody projektowania wykorzystano Case Based Reasoning oraz mechanizmy konwersji procesów i ról projektowych do procesów zunifikowanych RUP. Warunkiem stosowania proponowanej metody jest wiedza kierującego przedsięwzięciem o wysokopoziomowej architekturze systemu Smart Cities oraz stosowanych ramach projektowych. Autorzy posiadając wiedzę o takiej architekturze, a także o środowiskach projektowych implementujących modele KPI, proponują rozwiązanie generyczne, które mogą być wykorzystywane dla dowolnych środowisk i architektur systemów.

Opis:: In this article, the model for prediction of diesel fuel consumption by railbuses is presented. In order to create the model, the results of measurements of the average fuel consumption of eight dual mode railbuses of type X (manufactured by the same producer) are used. The usefulness of the indicators method in additive and multiplicative version is assessed. For both models, the percentage share of the trend, seasonality, and irregular (random) components are analysed and the results for the multiplicative version are given.

Opis:: The article is devoted to the issue of using interactive methods of teaching the discipline “English for Professional Purposes” at higher educational institutions (on the example of the case method). The pedagogical conditions for the use of interactive methods in teaching of this discipline have been developed and theoretically grounded. In this context, the term “condition” has been thoroughly analyzed. The authors have proved that the case method used as the principal one in the process of teaching English in a professional direction provides a set of pedagogical conditions, which are divided into procedural – dealing with the process of teaching (increasing students’ motivation to learn English; combination of the case method with other methods used in teaching English; development of methodological support of the discipline, as well as separate topics of the discipline, in the study of which the case method is used; changing the nature of relations in the system “teacher-student”) and informative – dealing with teaching content (selection of the content of the discipline taking into account the professional motives of students, their interests, needs and goals; structuring the content of educational material; development and implementation of the content of practical training, which is a combination of the case method with traditional methods of teaching English). Each of the conditions has been analyzed in the context of their essence, interrelationships, functions and importance of teaching English in the process of a vocational training. It has been proved that implementation of the conditions (increasing students’ motivation for learning English and selecting the content of the discipline taking into account the professional motives of students, their interests, needs and goals) helps to resolve the contradiction between insufficient level of knowledge of English and immature motives. Implementation of the second procedural pedagogical condition (combination of the case method with other methods used in teaching English) contributes to the modernization and improvement of traditional methods of teaching English. This condition is related to the relevant content conditions – structuring the content of educational material and the development and implementation of the practical training content, which is a combination of the case method with traditional methods of teaching English. Particular attention is paid to the methodological support of classes in which the case method is implemented, as well as the fourth procedural condition, which requires a change in the nature of relations in the system “teacher-student”. The authors state the importance of the combined character of using all pedagogical conditions, their interconnection and interdependence, which will ensure the effectiveness of the case method use in teaching English for professional purposes.
Artykuł poświęcony jest zagadnieniu wykorzystania interaktywnych metod nauczania dyscypliny „Angielski dla celów zawodowych”, w szkołach wyższych (na przykładzie metody studium przypadku). Opracowano i ugruntowano teoretycznie warunki pedagogiczne, do wykorzystania metod interaktywnych w nauczaniu tej dyscypliny. W tym kontekście termin „warunek” został gruntownie przeanalizowany. Autorzy wykazali, że metoda studium przypadku, stosowana jako nadrzędna w procesie nauczania języka angielskiego, w kierunku zawodowym zapewnia zespół uwarunkowań pedagogicznych, które dzielą się na proceduralne – dotyczące procesu nauczania (zwiększenie motywacji studentów do nauki języka angielskiego, połączenie metody przypadku z innymi metodami stosowanymi w nauczaniu języka angielskiego, opracowanie zaplecza metodycznego dyscypliny, a także odrębnych tematów dyscypliny, w badaniu której stosowana jest metoda przypadku, zmiana charakteru relacji w systemie „nauczyciel-uczeń”) oraz informacyjny – zajmujący się treścią nauczania (dobór treści dyscypliny, z uwzględnieniem motywów zawodowych uczniów, ich zainteresowań, potrzeb i celów; strukturyzacja treści materiału edukacyjnego; opracowanie i wdrożenie treści szkolenia praktycznego, będącego połączeniem metody przypadku z tradycyjnymi metodami nauczania języka angielskiego). Każdy z warunków został przeanalizowany w kontekście ich istoty, wzajemnych powiązań, funkcji i znaczenia nauczania języka angielskiego w procesie przygotowania zawodowego. Udowodniono, że realizacja warunków (zwiększenie motywacji uczniów do nauki języka angielskiego oraz dobór treści dyscypliny, z uwzględnieniem motywów zawodowych uczniów, ich zainteresowań, potrzeb i celów) pomaga rozwiązać sprzeczność między niewystarczającym poziomem znajomości języka angielskiego i niedojrzałych motywów. Realizacja drugiego proceduralnego warunku pedagogicznego (połączenie metody przypadku z innymi metodami stosowanymi w nauczaniu języka angielskiego), przyczynia się do unowocześnienia i doskonalenia tradycyjnych metod nauczania języka angielskiego. Warunek ten jest powiązany z odpowiednimi warunkami treściowymi – ustrukturyzowaniem treści materiału edukacyjnego oraz opracowaniem i wdrożeniem treści szkolenia praktycznego, które jest połączeniem metody przypadku, z tradycyjnymi metodami nauczania języka angielskiego. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na wsparcie metodyczne zajęć, na których realizowana jest metoda przypadku, a także czwarty warunek proceduralny, który wymaga zmiany charakteru relacji w systemie „nauczyciel-uczeń”. Autorzy zwracają uwagę na łączny charakter wykorzystania wszystkich warunków pedagogicznych, ich wzajemne powiązanie i współzależność, co zapewni efektywność wykorzystania metody case w nauczaniu języka angielskiego w celach zawodowych.

Opis:: Artykuł omawia Case Method – dominującą metodę edukacyjną stosowaną w amerykańskich szkołach prawa, która polega na nauczaniu prawa poprzez analizę orzeczeń sądowych, stworzoną w latach 70. XIX w. przez Christophusa Collumbusa Langdella. Langdell postrzegał prawo jako naukę, podobną do fizyki czy chemii, a więc jako uporządkowany system obiektywnej wiedzy. Stworzona przez niego metoda nauczania służyć miała przygotowaniu osób zajmujących się prawem w sposób naukowy. W artykule przedstawiona została koncepcja prawa Langdella, oraz wpływ, jaki jego metoda nauczania wywarła na nurty amerykańskiej filozofii prawa – klasyczną jurysprudencję oraz realizm prawniczy.
The article discusses the Case Method – the dominant method of teaching in American law schools, based on the analysis of judicial decisions, which was created in the 1870s by Christophus Collumbus Langdell. Langdell perceived law as a science similar to physics or chemistry, and thus as an ordered system of objective knowledge, and the method of teaching created by him was intended to prepare people dealing with law in a scientific manner. The article presents the Langdell’s concept of law, and the impact of his teaching method on streams of American legal philosophy – classical jurisprudence and legal realism.

W przeprowadzonych badaniach w paradygmacie jakościowym z wykorzystaniem metody studium indywidualnego przypadku (technika wywiadu quasi biograficznego) przedmiotem analiz uczyniono przebieg doświadczeń zawodowych młodych dorosłych łodzian, osiągających demograficzną dorosłość w roku akcesji Polski do UE, realizujących role zawodowe w warunkach rozwoju społeczeństwa rynkowego w Polsce przełomu wieków. Przeprowadzone analizy wskazują, że kariery zawodowe łódzkich trzydziestolatków są karierami poziomymi i w głąb, zróżnicowanymi według płci i poziomu wykształcenia oraz sytuacji w rodzinach pochodzenia na etapie wzrastania bohaterów biografii, ale mają też cechy wspólne. Ścieżki zawodowe badanych obejmują w wielość miejsc pracy i stanowisk, na ogół niestabilnych i niepewnych.
The article focuses on the professional experience of young adults, which are analysed in the context of a professional career. The theoretical framework of the analysis consists of two theories of career, namely that of Edgar Schein and that of Donald Super, the latter of whom combines human professional development with role and situational factors. The studies were conducted in the qualitative paradigm with the use of individual case study method (quasi-biographical interview). The subject of analyses was the course of the professional experience of young adult residents of Łódź, who – demographically – were entering the stage of adulthood in the year of Poland’s accession to the EU, thus performing professional roles in the development of the market society in Poland at the turn of the century. The conducted analyses indicate that the professional careers of thirty-year-olds in Łódź are horizontal and in-depth, as well as are differentiated by gender and level of education, and the situation in families of origin at the stage of growing up. However, they also have shared characteristics. The professional paths of the respondents include a multitude of jobs and positions, which are usually unstable and insecure.

Głównym celem artykułu jest popularyzacja koncepcji przedsiębiorczego uniwersytetu oraz kwestionariusza HEInnovate, który jest narzędziem służącym do oceny poziomu przedsiębiorczości jednostek szkolnictwa wyższego. W artykule przedstawiono analizę przypadku Uniwersytetu Ekonomicznego w Krakowie (UEK) przygotowaną na podstawie badań bezpośrednich (wywiady, obserwacje uczestniczące) oraz pośrednich (przegląd dokumentacji). Metodą badawczą wybraną w celu określenia poziomu przedsiębiorczości w ośmiu wyselekcjonowanych wymiarach działalności uniwersytetu jest kwestionariusz HEInnovate. Wyniki badań ankietowych przeprowadzonych wśród sędziów wartościujących omówione zostały z odniesieniem do wzorcowego modelu przedsiębiorczego uniwersytetu. Wskazane zostały obszary przedsiębiorczości UEK, które wymagają podjęcia działań usprawniających, prowadzących do tworzenia środowiska sprzyjającego kształtowaniu postaw przedsiębiorczych wewnątrz instytucji szkolnictwa wyższego (HEI), jak i w relacjach zewnętrznych (lokalnych, krajowych i międzynarodowych).
The entrepreneurial university is a concept described in connection with the definition of the role of education, scientific research, knowledge transfer and cooperation with the broadly understood environment in the field of socio-economic and cultural development, which should be based on broadly understood entrepreneurship. This concept becomes particularly important since entrepreneurship was indicated as one of the main competences on the European labour market, which imposes on education the obligation to shape entrepreneurial attitudes of people throughout the entire educational process. The main goal of the article is to promote the concept of an entrepreneurial university and to disseminate the HEInnovate questionnaire as a tool for assessing the entrepreneurship of higher education units. The article presents a case study of the Cracow University of Economics (UEK) prepared on the basis of direct (interviews, participating observations) and indirect (review of documentation) research. The research method chosen to determine the level of entrepreneurship in the eight selected dimensions of the university’s activity is the HEInnovate questionnaire. The results of surveys conducted among the value judges were discussed with reference to the model entrepreneurial university. The areas of UEK entrepreneurship have been indicated, which require undertaking improvement actions leading to the creation of an environment conducive to shaping entrepreneurial attitudes inside HEIs as well as in external relations (local, national and international).

Opis:: In the paper were presented examples of use of some intelligence tools such as a neural network, expert system and relational database to ship design. The neural network of back-propagation of errors was applied to select required power of ship main propulsion system on the basis of ship main parameters. Results obtained by using the network were compared with resulting values for similar ships found in Access database application. To aid design of the main propulsion system and ship power plant automation fuzzy logic was applied as an element of Case Based Reasoning (CBR) method in Exsys expert system as well as a few methods for selection of similar ships, elaborated by the authors.

Opis:: Celem rozważań jest zaprezentowanie innowacyjnego narzędzia dydaktycznego w postaci internetowej aplikacji kreatora studiów przypadku, pozwalającej studentowi na dochodzenie do wiedzy przez samodzielną aktywność poznawczą, polegającą na zapoznawaniu się oraz rozwiązywaniu realnych i aktualnych problemów z otaczającej go rzeczywistości, głównie gospodarczej. Proponowana aplikacja może przyczynić się do wzrostu efektywności kształcenia akademickiego, co potwierdzają badania ankietowe przeprowadzone wśród studentów i nauczycieli testujących aplikację. Ponadto, może mieć duże znaczenie praktyczne dla przedsiębiorców − potencjalnych pracodawców − gdyż umożliwia im uzyskanie rozwiązania problemów pojawiających się w ich działalności.
An aim of considerations is to present the innovative didactic tool in the form of Internet application of the creator of case studies allowing the student achievement of knowledge by way of their independent cognitive activity consisting in getting acquainted and resolving the real and up-to-date problems from the reality surrounding them, mainly the economic one. The proposed application may contribute to growth of effectiveness of academic education, what is confirmed by the surveys carried out among students and teachers testing the application. Moreover, it may have a great practical importance for entrepreneurs – potential employers – as it enables them achievement of solution of problems occurring in their activity.
Цель рассуждений – представить инновационный дидактический инструмент в виде интернет-аппликации для изучения конкретного случая, позволяющей студенту получать знания путем самостоятельной познавательной активности, заключающейся в изучении и решении реальных и актуальных проблем из окружающей его действительности, в основном экономической. Предлагаемая аппликация может способствовать повышению эффектвности обучения в вузах, что подтверждают опросы, проведенные среди студентов и учителей, тестирующих аппликацию. Кроме того, она может иметь большое практическое значение для предпринимателей, потенциальных работодателей, ибо предоставляет им возможность получить решение проблем, появляющихся в их деятельности.

Opis:: The paper concerns effort estimation of software development projects, in particular, at the level of product delivery stages. It proposes a new approach to model project data to support expert-supervised analogy-based effort estimation. The data is modeled using Semantic Web technologies, such as Resource Description Framework (RDF) and Ontology Language for the Web (OWL). Moreover, in the paper, we define a method of supervised case-based reasoning. The method enables to search for similar projects’ tasks at different levels of abstraction. For instance, instead of searching for a task performed by a specific person, one could look for tasks performed by people with similar capabilities. The proposed method relies on ontology that defines the core concepts and relationships. However, it is possible to introduce new classes and relationships, without the need of altering the search mechanisms. Finally, we implemented a prototype tool that was used to preliminary validate the proposed approach. We observed that the proposed approach could potentially help experts in estimating non-trivial tasks that are often underestimated.

Opis:: The academic paper is devoted to the use of interactive methods in the process of studying the humanities to form the professional and communicative competence of future specialists in construction and civil engineering. Currently, the issue of active applying the case method, business games in the classrooms in higher educational institutions is rather relevant. This is since the modern educational process is aimed at the formation of basic competencies as follows: professional and communication ones, skills, and abilities of intellectual activity, the development of the ability to process a large amount of information. Another argument in favour of the using interactive methods arises from the requirements towards the professionalism of any specialist in construction and civil engineering, who should master the optimal behaviour in various professional and everyday situations emerging in real life. In this paper, we have tried to prove that in the process of using interactive methods, the degreeseeking student becomes an active subject of the educational process under the direct supervision of a teacher, which has a positive effect on the formation of numerous competencies – professional and communicative ones. In the process of a business game or work on a case, the mastering of new terminology, acquaintance with new vocabulary, the use of speech cliches occurs. The correct use of grammatical forms and syntactic structures is of particular importance during the oral presentation of the decision. Professional knowledge and confidence in the ability to solve problems is an incentive towards forming professional and communicative competence in Ukrainian language classes for professional direction. Therefore, it can be stated that in the context of this scientific research, the expediency of using interactive methods has been justified to form the professional and communicative competencies of future specialists in construction and civil engineering during studying at higher educational institutions.
Artykuł poświęcony jest wykorzystaniu metod interaktywnych w procesie studiowania nauk humanistycznych w celu kształtowania kompetencji zawodowych i komunikacyjnych przyszłych specjalistów budownictwa i inżynierii lądowej. Problem aktywnego wykorzystania metody przypadku, gier biznesowych na zajęciach w szkolnictwie wyższym jest dziś aktualny. Wynika to z faktu, że współczesny proces edukacyjny ma na celu kształtowanie podstawowych kompetencji, wśród których znaczące miejsce zajmują umiejętności zawodowe i komunikatywne, umiejętności i zdolności aktywności intelektualnej, rozwój umiejętności przetwarzania dużej ilości informacji. Kolejny argument przemawiający za wykorzystaniem metod interaktywnych wynika z wymagań zawodowych każdego specjalisty z zakresu budownictwa i inżynierii lądowej, który musi opanować optymalne zachowanie w różnych sytuacjach zawodowych i codziennych, które pojawiają się w życiu codziennym. W niniejszym artykule staraliśmy się udowodnić, że w procesie stosowania metod interaktywnych student pod bezpośrednim kierownictwem nauczyciela staje się aktywnym podmiotem procesu edukacyjnego, co pozytywnie wpływa na kształtowanie wielu kompetencji, w tym zawodowych i komunikacyjnych. W trakcie gry biznesowej czy pracy nad sprawą dochodzi do opanowania nowej terminologii, znajomości nowego słownictwa, posługiwania się frazesami mowy. W trakcie ustnej prezentacji decyzji ważne jest właściwe użycie form gramatycznych i konstrukcji składniowych. Profesjonalna wiedza i wiara w umiejętność rozwiązywania problemów jest bodźcem do kształtowania kompetencji zawodowych i komunikacyjnych na zajęciach języka ukraińskiego w profesjonalnym kierunku. Można zatem powiedzieć, że w kontekście niniejszych badań celowość wykorzystania metod interaktywnych do kształtowania kompetencji zawodowych i komunikacyjnych przyszłych specjalistów budownictwa i inżynierii lądowej podczas studiów na studiach wyższych była uzasadniona

Opis:: Aim:The main purpose of the study is to show that students with dyslexia, learning a foreign language need special treatment, different from the one provided to students without learning difficulties. This exclusive approach concerns not only individualised learning but also special teaching methods making foreign language learning easier. Method:The author of the article conducted a case study in which a 12-year-old dyslexic student was provided with 6 private foreign language sessions within a 6-week period. Furthermore, in order to obtain the triangulation of data, the participant of the study filled out self-efficacy questionnaire right before and after the private tutoring Results:The data collected reveal that schools should adapt teaching methods offered dyslexic students to their needs. In order to increase effectiveness of their foreign language learning, dyslexic students’ learning process should be individualized. These steps will enable not only better foreign language acquisition but also improve dyslexic students’ motivation which is a condition for successful language learning
Cel: Celem badania jest wykazanie iż uczniowie z dysleksją podczas nauki języka obcego wymagają wyjątkowego traktowania, innego od tego jakie jest oferowane uczniom bez szczególnych potrzeb edukacyjnych. To szczególne działanie dotyczy zarówno zindywidualizowanego podejścia do ucznia jak i zastosowania szczególnych metod nauczania języka obcego ułatwiających naukę uczniom z dysleksją Metody: Autorka przeprowadziła badanie opisowe przypadku, w którym przez okres 6 tygodniu zastosowała 6 indywidualnych sesji, podczas których nauczała języka angielskiego dwunastoletniego chłopca z dysleksją. Ponadto w celu uzyskania triangulacji danych przed rozpoczęciem oraz po zakończeniu badania uczeń wypełnił kwestionariusz na skuteczność własną Wyniki: Rezultaty przeprowadzonego badania pokazują, iż indywidualne sesje z uczniem z dysleksją poprawiły znacznie jego kompetencje językowe oraz podniosły skuteczność własną, która jest z kolei warunkiem efektywnego uczenia się Wnioski: Poniższe badanie wskazuje na to, że w szkołach powinno być zapewnione dostosowanie metod nauczania do pracy z uczniem z dysleksją. W celu zapewnienia efektywnego nauczania tych uczniów ich nauka języka obcego powinna być zindywidualizowana. To nie tylko pozwoli na bardziej efektywne przyswajanie materiału, ale również na podniesienie motywacji u dyslektyków

Opis:: The article is devoted to the issue of teaching English to students of higher medical institutions. The analysis of theoretical resources showed that the current level of intercultural communication requires a transformation in the system of vocational training, which encourages the search for new effective technologies that will promote the development of independent and active personality. One of the most effective ways to organize higher education is case technology, which promotes the development of skills to analyze and summarize different types of information, formulate a problem and suggest possible solutions according to established criteria. The article proposes a step-by-step process of implementing the case method and describes the goals of this method. It is noted that the acquisition of knowledge and skills in the case method is the result of active independent activities of students to resolve contradictions, resulting in creative mastery of professional knowledge, skills, abilities and development of mental abilities. Particular attention is paid to the effectiveness of the case method in language training of specialists in any field, as the language training of future professionals should be aimed at developing not only general communicative competencies, but above all, professionally oriented language competencies. Therefore, it is advisable to apply this method at a stage when students already have gained a sufficient amount of professional knowledge, which allows them to study the situation more competently. Different types of cases (practical, educational and research) are described depending on their purpose. The fact that a foreign language course often precedes the curriculum of special professional disciplines, brings to the specifics of its teaching advanced nature – a foreign language can and should be a means of acquiring new professional knowledge. Special attention is paid to the fact that the case method is based on the student’s independent activity, which is organized by the higher educational institution. Among the advantages of using the case method are the possibility of optimal combination of theory and practice, the development of skills in working with diverse sources of information and independent decision-making. In addition, the process of solving the problem raised in the case is a creative process of cognition, during which cognitive activity acquires a collective character. Among the risks of using this method, the necessity to carefully consider the presentation of the case and competent planning of student activities are pointed out. The authors of the article conclude that the use of the case method in foreign language teaching for medical students is effective for acquiring foreign language skills, mastering professional knowledge, development of logic, analysis skills and motivates students to learn foreign languages and to study in general.
Стаття присвячена проблемі навчання англійської мови студентам вищих медичних закладів. Аналіз теоретичних ресурсів показав, що сучасний рівень міжкультурного спілкування вимагає трансформації в системі професійного навчання, що спонукає до пошуку нових ефективних технологій, які сприятимуть розвитку самостійної та активної особистості. Одним з найбільш ефективних способів організації навчання у вузі є кейс-технологія, яка сприяє розвитку навичок аналізувати й узагальнювати різні види інформації, формулювати проблему та пропонувати можливі варіанти її вирішення відповідно до встановлених критеріїв. У статті пропонується поетапний процес здійснення методу кейсів і описані цілі цього методу. Зазначено, що засвоєння знань та формування умінь та навичок у процесі кейс-методу є результатом активної самостійної діяльності студентів з розв’язання протиріч, внаслідок чого і відбувається творче оволодіння професійними знаннями, навичками, вміннями та розвиток розумових здібностей. Особливу увагу приділено ефективності застосування кейс-методу під час мовної підготовки фахівців будь-якого профілю, адже мовна підготовка майбутніх спеціалістів має бути спрямована на розвиток не лише загальних комунікативних компетенцій, а перш за все, професійно орієнтованих мовних компетенцій. Тому доцільно застосовувати цей метод на етапі, коли студенти вже мають достатній обсяг професійних знань, що дозволяє їм вивчити ситуацію більш компетентно. Описано різні види кейсів (практичні, навчальні та науково-дослідні) залежно від їх мети. Той факт, що курс іноземної мови часто передує за навчальним планом спеціальним професійним дисциплінам, привносить у специфіку його викладання випереджальний характер – іноземна мова може і має стати засобом набуття нових професійних знань. Окрему увагу звернено на те, що в основі кейс-методу є самостійна діяльність студента, яка організуєється вищим навчальним закладом. Серед переваг використання методу кейсів зазначено можливість оптимального поєднання теорії та практики, розвиток навичок роботи з різнобічними джерелами інформаці та самостійного прийняття рішень. Крім того, процес вирішення проблеми, що піднімається в кейсі, – це творчий процес пізнання, під час якого пізнавальна діяльність набуває колективного характеру. Серед ризиків застосування цього методу вказано насамперед на необхідність ретельного обміркування представлення кейсу та грамотного планування діяльності студентів. Автори статті доходять висновку, що застосування методу кейсів під час навчання іноземної мови для студентів-медиків є ефективним для набуття навичок володіння іноземною мовою, оволодіння професійними знаннями, розвитку логіки, навичок аналізу і сприяє вмотивованності студентів до вивчення іноземних мов і до навчання взагалі.

Opis:: Artykuł poświęcony jest problematyce prawa pracy w Polsce międzywojennej w latach 30. XX wieku. Autor dokonuje analizy akt autentycznych sporów sądowych metodą case study. Badania zostały oparte na dokumentacji ponad czterdziestu spraw, przechowywanych w zbiorach Archiwum Państwowego w Katowicach, Oddział w Pszczynie. Autor uzyskał te akta nie z zespołów akt sądów, ale ze zbiorów odrębnego zespołu zawierającego dokumentację z zachowanego rodzinno-majątkowego archiwum fideikomisu Hochbergów w Pszczynie. Zespół ten oferuje niemal 300 zachowanych akt spraw cywilnych z lat 1934-1939 (kiedy na podstawie przepisów kodeksu procedury cywilnej na dobrach ziemskich i fabrykach fideikomisu był ustanowiony zarząd przymusowy). Artykuł wykazuje, jak wartościowe są zbiory pozostałe po archiwach rodzin arystokratycznych dla rekonstruowania utraconych akt międzywojennego wymiaru sprawiedliwości. Analiza obejmuje szeroki zakres zagadnień: bezprawne zwalnianie pracowników, zatrzymywanie wynagrodzeń pracowników oraz potrącanie wierzytelności pracodawców z tych wynagrodzeń bez podstawy prawnej, specyfika zatrudniania pracowników umysłowych oraz wady oświadczeń woli w zakresie umów o pracę. Pozwala to ukazać stan rozwoju prawa pracy w latach 30. XX wieku i ocenić skomplikowaną sytuację ekonomiczną największych fideikomisów familijnych w międzywojennej Polsce.
The article is devoted to the subject matter of labor law in interwar Poland during the late 1930s. The paper analyzes the files of authentic court disputes using the case study method. The research presented in the article is based on more than forty court case files, which are stored in the Pszczyna Department of the State Archives in Katowice. The files were not obtained from the proper set of court files but from a separate set consisting of the preserved private archive of the Hochberg Family Fideicommissum in Pszczyna. This particular collection offers the files of almost 300 preserved civil cases from between 1934 and 1939 (back then, according to the provisions of the Polish Code of Civil Procedure, compulsory administration was established on the estates and factories belonging to the fideicommissum). The article demonstrates how valuable the remaining archives of aristocratic families are in the process of reconstruction of the lost court case files from the interwar period. The analysis covers a wide range of issues: unlawful dismissal of employees, withholding employees’ remuneration and setting off employer’s receivables from the aforementioned salaries without a legal basis, the specific nature of employing white-collar workers as well as the defects of the declarations of will in the field of labor contracts. This made it possible to present the state of the development of labor law during the 1930s as well as to assess the complicated economic situation of the largest family fideicommissa in interwar Poland.
