The aim of this paper is to present the method of reengineering of business processes that perform engineer-to-order production in a manufacturing company. The base of the method is a strategy of the company that applies Balanced Scorecard technique. The reengineering of critical business processes in the enterprise is assigned to the implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning system. The method facilitates the quantitative evaluation of business process improvements in the enterprise and the support for assigning the Total Cost of Ownership of the ERP system.

The paper presents a method of modeling processes connected with the activities of sanitary inspection during the development of the epidemic of food-borne diseases. Research background: Recent decades may undoubtedly be deemed as a period of exceptional transformation on a global scale. One element of this transformation is the reorganisation of traditional ways of business management (on all ontological levels). As a result, agile approach is increasingly often considered one of the key aspects of building the competitive advantage of a company. In this paper, agile approach is understood as the businesses' capability of responding promptly to market needs. Purpose of the article: The aim of this paper is to present the research results on the use of agile approach in chosen organizations. More specifically, the main purpose of this article is to describe how organizations are transformed with use of the agile approach. Methods: In accordance with the goal of the article, the organizations selected for empirical research are characterized by revenue increase levels of over 100% (such organizations undergo a dynamic transformation caused by growth), and employment ranging from 10 to 50 employees. The studied companies operate mainly in the IT industry and use technologies to organize the processes of identification and tracking of customer behaviour to a large extent. Several research methods were used in this paper: literature studies, expert interview, participant observation, and Spearman's rank correlation coefficient. Findings & Value added: The article describes the usage level of the agile (and linear) approach in the organizational transformation (through the dynamic growth of revenues), and presents the agile approach model, which can be used as an accelerator of the business' development. In addition, the authors undertook the first (limited and unrepresentative) attempt to evaluate the use of agile approach in the context of such indicators as: communication with customers, profit increase, and minimization of the risk related to introducing a new product on the market.

Purpose: The increasing role of digitalization in the operation of enterprises actualizes the implementation of the basic methods of proper digitalization processes. The selection of an appropriate method to introduce digitalization is crucial, as it affects the optimization level of the business processes. Methodology: Specific multicriteria selection method includes five steps to identify these approaches, considering the relative error for each approach, as it affects the outcome with the performance indicator of business process digitalization. The strongest criterion value is used to identify the optimal approach. The evaluation of the methods showed that the performance of the logistic, administrative, and innovative methods is not worse than the Pareto principle. Findings: Introducing digitalization in the administrative method has the biggest impact. The chosen method showed that Human Resources processes require modification to reduce costs. A mechanism to digitalize the personnel management processes using artificial intelligence was developed. Implications: The results of multivariate multicriteria analysis show that the implementation of artificial intelligence minimizes human factors and optimizes time and costs. Originality: The main contribution is the development of the method for the selection of an appropriate digitalization approach, which encompasses an implementation mechanism that can be adapted to enterprises’ needs.

Creation of network structures in contemporary organizations becomes the norm of the functioning. The creation of multidimensional structures in evolutionary relations, where it is difficult to determine now the organization's boundaries no longer makes business process integration is becoming one of the most important problems. In addition, the development of information technology has enabled to contribute and share information resources. The above phenomenon indicative of the pursuit of the integration of business processes and technologies used in the activity. So in the article, the authors presented the main attributes of the network structures, which, on the one hand, affect the efficiency of the network agreement and, on the other hand, determine the shape of the business processes supported by the technology used. Indicated on the correlation between what the implementation of technological solutions and the need to integrate processes for example of the application of solutions SOA (Service Oriented Architecture).

Niniejszy artykuł porusza tematy z zakresu analizy biznesowej, będącej podstawowym elementem funkcjonowania współczesnych organizacji. Celem tej publikacji jest przedstawienie i ocena czterech wybranych narzędzi do modelowania diagramów biznesowych w notacji BPMN. W ramach wprowadzenia do tematu scharakteryzowano procesy biznesowe, zdefiniowano ich analizę, a także przybliżono czytelnikowi notację BPMN i badane narzędzia. Zdefiniowano też metodykę badań i ich przebieg. Następnie przeprowadzone zostały badania zgodnie z przyjętą metodyką. Rezultatem tych prac były wyniki badań razem z analizą. Na koniec podsumowano przeprowadzone pomiary łącznie z wnioskami.
This article discusses topics in the field of business analysis, which is the basic element of the operation of modern organizations. The aim of this publication is to present and evaluate four selected tools for modeling business diagrams in BPMN notation. As part of the introduction to the topic, business processes were characterized, their analysis was defined, and the reader was introduced to the BPMN notation and the tested tools. The research methodology and its course were also defined. Then, the research was carried out in accordance with the adopted methodology. The conclusion of this work was the result of the research together with the analysis. Finally, the conducted experiments were summarized together with conclusions.

The importance of systems based on the SOA architecture continues to grow. At the same time, in spite of the existence of many specifications which allow for the coordination of business processes functioning in the SOA environment, there is still lack of solutions that allow the use of system mechanisms of transaction processing. Such solutions should entail the simplification of construction of business processes without affecting their capabilities. This article presents a Transaction Coordinator environment, designed and implemented as a response to these needs.

The article discusses experiences gained while integrating adaptive methods of project management with business processes management in a business organization, based on the research undertaken in SESCOM company in Gdańsk, Poland. The aim of the article is to formalize the authors' model of ABPM (Agile Business Process Management), dedicated to re-orienting the traditional process organization towards constructing adaptive, minimalistic process models, taking into consideration the Agile methods of workflow software development and long-term life-cycles of infrastructure connected with IT processes. The article proposes the areas, in which to implement the elements of Agile methodology in the classical Deming cycle. It also summarizes experience to-date with regard to the role of human capital in performing business strategies according to the ABPM model.

Value creation is the element and the crucial attribute of business model, enabling business entitles to be competitive and to set the development direction. In the paper a comparative analysis of three business model was presented. Selected companies for the research represent the transportation sector, manufacturing/service sector for business market and business services for energy sector. In the analysis we considered social architecture, technical architecture as well as business processes that create the structures of business models. Significant changes in the business models’ structure corresponding to new value for the clients and organizations were indicated. The method of Balanced Scorecard was used to measure created value in the business model.
Tworzenie wartości jest elementem i atrybutem modelu biznesu Umożliwia przedsiębiorstwu konkurowanie i rozwój. W artykule przedstawiono analizę porównawczą tworzenia wartości przez modele biznesu przedsiębiorstw: transportowego, usługowo-produkcyjnego inżynierskich usług energetycznych. Analizowano architekturę społeczną, techniczną procesy biznesowe tworzące strukturę tych modeli. Wskazano zmiany w strukturze badanych modeli biznesu jakie są potrzebne do generowania nowej wartości dla klientów i organizacji. Do pomiaru wartości kreowanej przez modele biznesu zastosowano metodę Strategicznej Karty Wyników.

This article elaborates on the model of managing knowledge workers. The authors aim at analysing a effectiveness of business processes in the sale functional area in enterprises based on the research results. Specifically, likely consequences of managing knowledge workers as "sale specialist" on the effectiveness of internal business processes are studied. This was followed by a discussion on the results of the literature and empirical studies. The summary shows the directions of a further work.
W artykule zaprezentowano model oceny efektywności procesów biznesowych w obszarze sprzedaży w aspekcie zarządzania pracownikami wiedzy na podstawie wyników badań empirycznych. Zaprezentowano wyniki badań dotyczące wpływu wymiany wiedzy pomiędzy pracownikami wiedzy na wartości zdefiniowanych wskaźników oceny efektywności procesów biznesowych. W podsumowaniu pokazano kierunki dalszych prac.

The article outlines the concept of an extension for innovative e-system for managing the lifecycle of documents at different levels of sensitivity, including the function of continuous tracking of consignments from one protected zone to another. The operations of the module are based on the use of RFID tags for the documents. At particular stages of transport, the tags are read to allow automatic identification of the contents of the shipment. The transported documents are secured in special burglar-proof containers. Additionally, the containers are equipped with GPS and GLONASS location modules. The author also described an IT system which allows to monitor, store and analyze the transport route.
