Opis:
This paper applies a new Kalman Filter Recurrent Neural Network (KFRNN) topology and a recursive Levenberg-Mar quardt (L-M) learning algorithm capable to estimate para meters and states of highly nonlinear unknown plant in noisy environment. The proposed KFRNN identifier, learned by the Backpropagation and L-M learning algorithm, was incorporated in a direct and indirect adaptive neural con trol schemes. The proposed control schemes were applied for real-time recurrent neural identification and control of a continuous stirred tank bioreactor model, where fast convergence, noise filtering and low mean squared error of reference tracking were achieved.

Opis:
A very important problem in designing of controlling systems is to choose the right type of architecture of controller. And it is always a compromise between accuracy, difficulty in setting up, technical complexity and cost, expandability, flexibility and so on. In this paper, multipurpose adaptive controller with implementation of artificial neural network is offered as an answer to a wide range of tasks related to regulation. The effectiveness of the approach is demonstrated by the example of an adaptive thermostat. It also compares its capabilities with those of classic PID controller. The core of this approach is the use of an artificial neural network capable of predicting the behaviour of controlled object within its known range of parameters. Since such a network, being trained, is a model of a regulated system with arbitrary precision, it can be analysed to make optimal management decisions at the moment or in a number of steps. Network learning algorithm is backpropagation and its modified version is used to analyse an already trained network in order to find the optimal solution for the regulator. Software implementation, such as graphical user interface, routines related to neural network and many other, is done using Java programming language and Processing open-source integrated development environment.

Opis:
Interests in Closed-Loop Supply Chain (CLSC) issues are growing day by day within the academia, companies, and customers. Many papers discuss profitability or cost reduction impacts of remanufacturing, but a very important point is almost missing. Indeed, there is no guarantee about the amounts of return products even if we know a lot about demands of first products. This uncertainty is due to reasons such as companies’ capabilities in collecting End-of-Life (EOL) products, customers’ interests in returning (and current incentives), and other independent collectors. The aim of this paper is to deal with the important gap of the uncertainties of return products. Therefore, we discuss the forecasting method of return products which have their own open-loop supply chain. We develop an integrated two-phase methodology to cope with the closed-loop supply chain design and planning problem. In the first phase, an Adaptive Network Based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) is presented to handle the uncertainties of the amounts of return product and to determine the forecasted return rates. In the second phase, and based on the results of the first one, the proposed multi-echelon, multi-product, multi-period, closed-loop supply chain network is optimized. The second-phase optimization is undertaken based on using general exact solvers in order to achieve the global optimum. Finally, the performance of the proposed forecasting method is evaluated in 25 periods using a numerical example, which contains a pattern in the returning of products. The results reveal acceptable performance of the proposed two-phase optimization method. Based on them, such forecasting approaches can be applied to real-case CLSC problems in order to achieve more reliable design and planning of the network.

Opis:
Noise control has gained a lot of attention recently. However, presence of nonlinearities in Signac paths for some applications can cause significant difficulties in the operation of control algorithms. In particular, this problem is common in structural noise control, which uses a piezoelectric shunt circuit. Not only vibrating structures may exhibit nonlinear characteristics, but also piezoelectric actuators. In this paper, active device casing is addressed. The objective is to minimize the noise coming out of the casing, by controlling vibration of its walls. The shunt technology is applied. The proposed control algorithm is based on algorithms from a group of soft computing. It is verified by means of simulations using data acquired from a real object.

Opis:
Fault diagnosis of rolling bearings is essential to ensure the proper functioning of the entire machinery and equipment. Variational mode decomposition (VMD) and neural networks have gained widespread attention in the field of bearing fault diagnosis due to their powerful feature extraction and feature learning capacity. However, past methods usually utilize experiential knowledge to determine the key parameters in the VMD and neural networks, such as the penalty factor, the smooth factor, and so on, so that generates a poor diagnostic result. To address this problem, an Adaptive Variational Mode Decomposition (AVMD) is proposed to obtain better features to construct the fault feature matrix and Sparrow probabilistic neural network (SPNN) is constructed for rolling bearing fault diagnosis. Firstly, the unknown parameters of VMD are estimated by using the genetic algorithm (GA), then the suitable features such as kurtosis and singular value entropy are extracted by automatically adjusting the parameters of VMD. Furthermore, a probabilistic neural network (PNN) is used for bearing fault diagnosis. Meanwhile, embedding the sparrow search algorithm (SSA) into PNN to obtain the optimal smoothing factor. Finally, the proposed method is tested and evaluated on a public bearing dataset and bearing tests. The results demonstrate that the proposed method can extract suitable features and achieve high diagnostic accuracy.

Opis:
In this paper, a new Multi-Layer Perceptron Neural Network (MLP NN) classifier is proposed for classifying sonar targets and non-targets from the acoustic backscattered signals. Besides the capabilities of MLP NNs, it uses Back Propagation (BP) and Gradient Descent (GD) for training; therefore, MLP NNs face with not only impertinent classification accuracy but also getting stuck in local minima as well as lowconvergence speed. To lift defections, this study uses Adaptive Best Mass Gravitational Search Algorithm (ABGSA) to train MLP NN. This algorithm develops marginal disadvantage of the GSA using the bestcollected masses within iterations and expediting exploitation phase. To test the proposed classifier, this algorithm along with the GSA, GD, GA, PSO and compound method (PSOGSA) via three datasets in various dimensions will be assessed. Assessed metrics include convergence speed, fail probability in local minimum and classification accuracy. Finally, as a practical application assumed network classifies sonar dataset. This dataset consists of the backscattered echoes from six different objects: four targets and two non-targets. Results indicate that the new classifier proposes better output in terms of aforementioned criteria than whole proposed benchmarks.

Gain values of the adaptive controller were approximated by using an artificial neural network. The VMC was realized as an additional buck converter integrated with the main inverter. As the load of the 2-level inverter a 3-phase symmetric RL circuit was used. Simulation tests show the behavior of the load current regulation during DC bus voltage level step changes. The dependence between current RMS value and inverter DC bus voltage level was also shown. In this work, a class of neuro-computational classifiers are used for classification of fricative phonemes of Assamese language. Initially, a Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) based classifier is used for classification. Later, another neuro fuzzy classifier is used for classification. We have used two different feature sets for the work, one using the specific acoustic-phonetic characteristics and another temporal attributes using linear prediction cepstral coefficients (LPCC) and a Self Organizing Map (SOM). Here, we present the experimental details and performance difference obtained by replacing the RNN based classifier with an adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) based block for both the feature sets to recognize Assamese fricative sounds.

The adaptive controller for AUV based on FNN is proposed, and then the stability of the resulting AUV closed-loop control system is analyzed by Lyaponov stability theory. Opis:
Purpose: To evaluate and compare the capability of ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy-Inference System), ANN (Artificial Neural Network), and MNLR (Multiple Non-linear Regression) techniques in the estimation and formulation of Discharge Correction Factor (Cd) of modified Parshall flumes as based on linear relations and errors between input and output data. Design/methodology/approach: Acknowledging the necessity of further research in this field, experiments were conducted in the Hydraulics Laboratory of Civil Engineering Department, National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, India. The Parshall flume characteristics, associated longitudinal slopes and the discharge passing through the flume were varied. Consequent water depths at specific points in Parshall flumes were noted and the values of Cd were computed. In this manner, a data set of 128 observations was acquired. This was bifurcated arbitrarily into a training dataset consisting of 88 observations and a testing dataset consisting of 40 observations. Models developed using the training dataset were checked on the testing dataset for comparison of the performance of each predictive model. Further, an empirical relationship was formulated establishing Cd as a function of flume characteristics, longitudinal slope, and water depth at specific points using the MNLR technique. Moreover, Cd was estimated using soft computing tools; ANFIS and ANN. Finally, a sensitivity analysis was done to find out the flume variable having the greatest influence on the estimation of Cd. Findings: The predictive accuracy of the ANN-based model was found to be better than the model developed using ANFIS, followed by the model developed using the MNLR technique. Further, sensitivity analysis results indicated that primary depth reading (Ha) as input parameter has the greatest influence on the prediction capability of the developed model. Research limitations/implications: Since the soft computing models are data based learning, hence the prediction capability of these models may dwindle if data is selected beyond the current data range, which is based on the experiments conducted under specific conditions. Further, since the present study has faced time and facility constraints, hence there is still a huge scope of research in this field. Different lateral slopes, combined lateral- longitudinal slopes, and more modified Parshall flume models of larger sizes can be added to increase the versatility of the current research. Practical implications: Cd of modified Parshall flumes can be predicted using the ANN- based prediction model more accurately as compared to other considered techniques. Originality/value: The comparative analysis of prediction models, as well as the formulation of relation, has been conducted in this study. In all the previous works, little to no soft computing techniques have been applied for the analysis of Parshall flumes. Even the regression techniques have been applied only on Parshall flumes of standard sizes. However, this paper includes not only Parshall flume of standard size but also a modified Parshall flume in its pursuit of predicting Cd with the help of ANN and ANFIS based prediction models along with MNLR technique.
