Opis:
In this paper, it was aimed to select and propose a feasible as well as an applicable method, for the extraction of zinc that was present in the disposed GHAZOUAT leach residues having 17.82 wt. % Zn and 20.82 wt. % Fe. After the determination of the components of the residue, the acid leaching was performed to reclaim Zn sequentially. The acid leaching experiments were carried out for Zn extraction by controlling acid concentration, reaction duration and temperature. At the optimum conditions, 240 g/L H2SO4 at 90 °C for 210 min, 80% of initial iron content was removed, and the resultant overall zinc extraction was usually superior than 96%.

Opis:
Iron is usually present in the leaching solutions and its elimination is a major problem in hydrometallurgy. The recovery of iron from such solutions is usually carried out by precipitation as jarosite, goethite or hematite. Together with the iron other undesirable metals, mainly Zn, Mg, Pb are precipitated. The impact of the following parameters: temperature, time, type and dose of oxidant on selective separation the iron compounds from the leaching solution of Zn-Pb post-flotation tailings were investigated. The leaching solution was obtained in the process of dynamic neutralization the accumulator electrolyte with the Zn-Pb flotation tailings and separation of the precipitate from the solution. Using the set conditions of iron compounds precipitation from the leaching solution, the post-processed solutions were obtained in which the content of Mg, Zn, Fe were analyzed. It was found that the process of iron compounds precipitation causes co-precipitation of the accompanying metals that contaminate the resulting precipitates. The coprecipitation of magnesium, together with iron compounds is particularly disadvantageous process results in a reduced yield of metal in the final product. In order to minimize these losses, the oxidizing precipitation of iron from the leach solution in the form of goethite was carried out. This led to significant loss of Mg+2 ions from the solution in an amount of 0.24% positively influencing technological process of magnesium sulphate recovery from the waste. The goethite precipitate formed in a simple single stage process is a commercial product or an intermediate product (after ignition) for the preparation of a red pigment.

Opis:
Effects of sulphuric acid and ammonia chloride on muscovite dissolution were studied in acid leaching of vein quartz under elevated temperature and pressure. The leaching processes have been studied in detail by analyzing sources of impurity minerals, optimizing leaching process, analyzing leaching kinetics of Al in muscovite and charactering leaching mechanism of muscovite. The results showed that elements of Al and K mainly occurred in muscovite, and 98.10% or more of muscovite could be removed by acid leaching, while the process had limited influence on the particle size of quartz sand. Leaching of Al in the quartz ore was mainly controlled by chemical reaction. A calcination process and ammonia chloride were used for reducing chemical reaction resistance by damaging crystal structure of muscovite and providing stable acid leaching environment. Combined with the calcination process, muscovite, as a main gangue mineral, was effectively extracted during acid leaching of vein quartz at elevated temperature and pressure.

In this paper the result of the study on chemical leaching of zinc concentrate with H2SO4 solution was presented. The object of this work was to assess the effect of some parameters such as acid concentration, the leaching agent amount /stoichiometry amount or excess of acid were applied/, reaction time and temperature on the process. The investigation was performed as a active experiment according to Hartley's plan. The process optimisation procedure was based on the fuzzy logic system. Mainly, the parameters such as magnesium leaching efficiency and zinc losses were taken into account. It was stated that the highest magnesium leaching efficiency of 77.8% with low Zn-losses was reached when H2SO4 solution concentration was 2.5% for 20%-excess of acid, at temperature 25°C and process time of 1 hour.

Opis:
Scandium and its compounds have excellent properties, and are widely used in cutting-edge fields such as optics, electronics, and alloys. Thus, scandium is an important strategic metal. However, scandium is extremely sparsely distributed in the earth's crust, rarely occurs as an independent mineral, and requires a complex recovery process. Therefore, the study of the extraction of scandium is of great practical significance. This study examined the leaching test and kinetics of scandium under the acid leaching system of refractory anatase ore. Under appropriate two-stage countercurrent leaching conditions, the first stage of the particle size of fraction of -0.074 mm 82.6%, initial H2SO4 concentration of 6 mol/L, leaching temperature of 100 °C, acid/solid ratio of 3 ml/g, stirring speed of 300 rpm, and leaching time of 50 min; and the second stage of the initial H2SO4 concentration of 11 mol/L, leaching temperature of 150 °C, acid/solid ratio of 4 ml/g, stirring speed of 300 rpm, and leaching time of 50 min, a scandium leaching rate of 96.98% was achieved. The kinetics of scandium leaching conformed to a shrinking-core model, and sulfuric acid concentration and temperature were the most important parameters affecting the scandium leaching rate. The kinetic analysis of scandium leaching at different sulfuric acid concentrations showed that as the concentration increased, the sulfuric acid leaching of scandium changed from being chemical reaction-controlled to internal diffusion-controlled, and the apparent reaction order was 1.2429. The kinetics of scandium leaching at different temperatures showed that the sulfuric acid leaching of scandium was reaction-controlled and the apparent activation energy was 42.21 kJ-mol-1.

Opis:
The process of atmosphere-pressure acid leaching of laterites has attracted considerable attention in the nickel industry in recent years. However, the leaching kinetics of laterite using hydrochloride acid has not yet been fully researched. In this paper, the mineral analysis of the ore was carried out, and the leaching mechanism of different minerals at different time was studied comprehensively. The kinetics analysis of the leaching process of nickel, cobalt and manganese showed that the kinetics model of diffusion controlling was suitable and could be described by the linear equation, 1-3(1-a)2/3+2(1-a)=k2t. Based on the linear equation and the Arrhenius equation, the values of activation energy of metal leaching can be deduced (11.56 kJ/mol for nickel, 11.26 kJ/mol for cobalt and 10.77 kJ/mol for manganese). Study of leaching mechanism shows that the order of these minerals dissolution is: goethite, lizardite, magnetite and hematite. Due to the original or product of silica, magnetite, hematite and talc, they can form the solid film which hinders the leaching of valuable metals. Thus, the diffusion controlling step is inner diffusion, namely solid film diffusion controlling.

Opis:
In this work, a novel process of pellet non-salt roasting and H2SO4 leaching was proposed for the selective extraction of vanadium from vanadium–titanium magnetite concentrate. Vanadium can be leached but the iron impurity was maintained in the pellets. Moreover, the leached pellets can meet the quality requirements of the iron-making process after secondary roasting, realizing comprehensive utilization. The maximal vanadium leaching efficiency was up to 60.3%, whereas 0.17% of the iron impurity was leached. The optimum conditions of pellet roasting and leaching were obtained by single-factor experiments. The X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy–energy disperse X-ray spectrometry analyses showed that the vanadium iron spinel can be oxidized and decomposed into Fe2O3 and vanadate during the roasting process. Given that dilute sulfuric acid can react with vanadate without reacting with Fe2O3 in the leaching process, selective vanadium extraction was realized. This work provides new insights into the industrial production of vanadium–titanium magnetite concentrate involving the direct extraction of vanadium.

The effect of time, temperature, the catalyst particle size and the ratio of the catalyst weight to the leaching solution volume (S:L) on the treatment of spent vanadium catalyst components was determined using citric acid solutions at atmospheric pressure. The optimal parameters of catalyst leaching in 10% acid solutions at atmospheric pressure are: T = 323 K, t = 4 h, the particle size of less than 0.160 mm, the S:L ratio below 0.1. Under these conditions it was possible to dissolve about 90% of vanadium and potassium compounds and more than 60% of iron compounds contained in the catalyst. These results fall within the scope of research on a comprehensive method for recovering spent vanadium catalyst components.

In this work extraction of copper and iron from a reverberatory furnace slag was studied. A two-step extraction procedure was followed. The first step was roasting of the slag in the presence of sulphuric acid at temperatures between 150 and 800oC. The second step was leaching of the resulting calcine with distilled water. The maximum copper extraction of about 94% was achieved. In this case, the slag was roasted at 250oC with sulphuric acid higher of about 33% than that stoichiometrically required, followed by water leaching of calcine at 50oC. About 55% of iron was also dissolved under these conditions. On the other hand, for the calcine obtained at sulphation temperature of 600oC, extraction of copper in a water leaching stage was still relatively high (about 79%), whereas that of iron was comparatively low (about 6%). Dissolution of copper and iron from the calcine was found to be very fast and was complete within the first few minutes. The water temperature in the leaching step was found to have no effect on extraction of copper and iron from the calcine in the range of 30 to 85oC.

Copper extraction from the slag was typically found to be twice as high as that from the slag flotation tailings. Hydrogen peroxide was determined to be the best lixiviant. Thus, copper and iron extractions were 63.4% and 48.6%, respectively, when leaching the slag with 3 M H2O2, after 120 minutes of reaction at room temperature. Copper dissolution was generally found to be the dominant process within the first 60 minutes of reaction, whereas iron dissolution dominated afterwards.

The obtained results show, that enhancing investigated leaching parameters increases both the rate and leaching recovery of nickel and cobalt. The effect of iron(III) ions concentration is particularly significant. Additionally, a significant correlation between copper and nickel/cobalt leaching recovery was observed. Due to the fine dissemination of nickel and cobalt, they were leached remarkably faster when copper leaching recovery exceeded 90%.

Opis:
Process improvement and kinetic study on copper leaching from low-grade cuprite ores in sulfuric acid solution are presented in this paper. Effects of major leaching parameters on copper leaching efficiency are determined. The results indicate that copper minerals in the raw ores are mainly cuprites. The reaction rate of this ore increases with an increase in temperature, reaction time, sulfuric acid concentrations and decrease in the particle size of ore. Leaching of about 92.5% of copper is achieved using 0.125-0.074 mm ore particle size at a reaction temperature of 353 K for 180 min reaction time with 150 g/dm3 sulfuric acid. The solid/liquid ratio was maintained constant at 1:15. Leaching kinetic indicates experimental data complies with shrinking core mode (SCM). It is found in the study that agitation rate is not an influential factor on leaching rate and that the dissolution rate is controlled by surface chemical reaction. The average activation energy of the process is determined to be 45.28 kJ mol-1, and the reaction order of H2SO4 is 0.8093.
