The authoress of the text written in the form of a review essay identifies certain traces, assumptions, metaphors, rhetorical figures, symbols and categories in the content of the following chapters of the monograph, which make understanding it as a whole consistent. Thus, they form the horizon for reading cultural texts for education. They are, for example: borderlands, borders, journey, road, returns, childhood, imagination and body. The transgressive nature of culture enriches man, and the cultural pedagogy is a metaphorical vehicle of awakening that saturates education with the factor of non-indifference.

Departures is the introductory volume to the interdisciplinary field of Critical Refugee Studies, written by the Critical Refugee Studies Collective and published by the University of California Press. The book works on many levels and can be read in as many ways. Partly a guide, partly a manifesto, the book dutifully performs its pre-set task of introducing the general reader to the field of Critical Refugee Studies, all the while engaging with larger issues and challenges. Its manifold nature is made explicit by the title itself, intended both as an allusion to the action of leaving and to that of deviating from a regular path. Highly readable and sharp-edged, tailor-made for an audience that includes (and transcends) colleges and universities, this text will likely find its way into many class syllabi and reading lists. Located at the crossroads of theory and resistance, advocacy and academia, Departures oozes rage, energy, and optimism, and is unapologetically political. The field of Critical Refugee Studies, the authors state in the “Introduction,” is “a way to seize control of image and narrative, by and for refugees, centered in refugee epistemologies and experiences." As a community-engaged critical field, it postulates the necessity of moving past pre-existing humanitarian narratives and frameworks, exposing the underlying threads that tie militarism and migration, power and memory, empire and race. Channeling Somali British and Palestinian poetry, Syrian visual art, and Vietnamese American independent cinematography, the seven contributors call for new methodologies and approaches, as well as for new stories that go beyond the simple “formula of … escape, despair, and rescue” embedded in mainstream refugee narratives. The book's aim is to break that mold, underscoring the “invisible relations of power that broker how we see and consume the refugee subject”; that is to say, to radically twist the ways in which the latter is defined by the law, by the arts, and by the collective conscious. Bold and provocative, Departures will not fail to spark conversations in the coming years.

Celem artykułu jest prezentacja wyników przeglądu literatury, odnoszącej się do rynku nieruchomości. W pracy wykorzystano metodę badawczą, zwaną systematycznym przeglądem literatury − analizę frekwencyjności. Posłużyła ona do identyfikacji perspektyw teoretycznych, przyjmowanych w publikacjach polskich i zagranicznych autorów. Pozwoliła także określić najważniejsze teorie oraz koncepcje, które stanowią obecnie konceptualne podstawy dla badań oraz rozważań nad rynkiem nieruchomości w Polsce i na świecie. Przegląd literatury posłużył również do identyfikacji strumieni badawczych, które dały podstawę do wyróżnienia luk poznawczo-badawczych, stanowiących propozycję przyszłych projektów naukowych w obszarze rynku nieruchomości.
The aim of this article is to present the results of a literature review relating to the real estate market. The study used one of the techniques −increasingly popular in the social sciences −research method, called a systematic review of the literature −frequency analysis. It was used to: identify theoretical perspectives, adopted in national and international publications, identify the most important theories and concepts that are currently the conceptual basis for research and deliberation on the real estate market in Poland and in the world. A literature review was also used to identify streams of research that gave rise to the distinction cognitive research gaps, representing a proposal for future research projects in the area real estate market.

The article deals with evaluations of submissions to a linguistics journal considering whether or not they represent a specific communicative genre. Following the theory of communicative genres developed in the sociology of knowledge, “genre” is used here not only in reference to the evaluation texts themselves but, rather, it is applied to the communicative action as a whole: “genre” is a pre-patterned and complex solution to recurrent communicative problems. Elements of a genre can be located on three structural levels: the level of internal structure (language, style, topics etc.), the level of external structure (social context) and the interactional or situational level, which serves as a link between the other two levels. Analysis of evaluations seeks to determine how changes on the external, social level (more reviewers from more institutions) and the interactional level (the double-blind review process) manifest themselves in the internal (textual) level. Another sub-topic is the relationship between the analyzed evaluations and the norms of scientific or scholarly style.
W artykule analizowane są recenzje prac złożonych do publikacji w czasopiśmie językoznawczym, stanowiące osobny gatunek komunikacyjny. Zgodnie z teorią gatunków komunikacyjnych rozwijaną w socjologii nauki – pojęcie gatunku nie odnosi się tu do samych tekstów, lecz obejmuje działania komunikacyjne ujęte całościowo: gatunek stanowi przedwstępnie ustrukturowane kompleksowe rozwiązanie powtarzalnych problemów komunikacyjnych. Działanie to przebiega na trzech płaszczyznach: na płaszczyźnie wewnętrznej (język, styl, tematyka), na płaszczyźnie zewnętrznej (poziom kontekstu społecznego), na płaszczyźnie interakcyjnej, która pośredniczy między strukturą zewnętrzną i wewnętrzną. Analiza recenzji ukierunkowana jest na ustalenie, w jaki sposób zmiany na płaszczyźnie zewnętrznej, społecznej (większa liczby recenzentów z liczniejszych instytucji) i interakcyjnej (obustronna anonimowość postępowania recenzenckiego) przejawiają się na płaszczyźnie tekstowej (kształtowanie autora i adresata). Kolejnym tematem szczegółowym jest zależność analizowanych recenzji od norm stylu naukowego.
Der Aufsatz befasst sich mit den Gutachten für eine linguistische Fachzeitschrift als einer spezifischen Textsorte. Die Kategorie der Textsorte wird dabei nicht nur auf die Texte selbst appliziert, sondern sie wird in Anlehung an die Theorie der Kommunikationstextsorten in der Wissenssoziologie auf einen bestimmten Typ der Handlung als Ganzes bezogen: die Textsorte ist eine vorstrukturierte und komplexe Lösung für sich wiederholende Kommunikationsprobleme. Diese Handlung wird auf drei Ebenen strukturiert: auf der inneren (sprachlichen und inhaltlichen) Ebene, auf der äußeren Ebene, d. h. der Ebene des sozialen Kontextes, und auf der Interaktionsebene, die als ein Zwischenglied zwischen der inneren und äußeren Ebene aufritt. Die Analyse der einzelnen Textsorten konzentriert sich vor allem darauf, wie sich die Veränderungen auf der äußeren, sozialen Ebene (eine größere Anzahl von Gutachtern aus verschiedenen Institutionen) sowie auf der Interaktionsebene (beiderseitige Anonymität des Peer-Review-Verfahrens) auf der Textebene bemerkbar machen (die Gestaltung des Autoren- und Adressatensubjekts). Ein weiteres Thema bildet die Beziehung der analysierten Gutachten zu den Normen des Fachstils.

Compiling special dictionaries in Ukraine and Russia has its own history, national specifics, significant achievements and groundworks. Terminological dictionaries play an important role – they preserve and transmit the scientific terminology fund from generation to generation, which necessitates a critical examination of each specific publication. Terminographic criticism is an integral, interdisciplinary direction which is formed simultaneously on the basis of scientific criticism and scientific communication combining their features. As a result of the study, it was established that modern Ukrainian and Russian critics in their reviews adhere to the same principles to examine terminological dictionaries: the intention to comprehensively analyse, first of all, definition and translation publications as well as reference dictionaries, regarding the representation of their mega-, macro- and microstructure parameters; determining the national and linguacultural values of branch dictionaries. The potential importance of the practical application of the results lies in improving the theoretical and methodological principles and foundations of compiling terminological dictionaries, as well as their use in the development of new models of special publications, in particular dictionaries of a new type, which will comprehensively present the terminology of a certain field of science.

Diversity and Convergence on the development and state of political science in the countries of Eastern and Central Europe. The book is a collection of 19 country reports (Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine), which, collectively, provide the much needed account on the discipline’s institutionalization throughout the region. Individual chapters – written by academic professors or lecturers – include such information as the state of research, teaching, major books and journals, international cooperation, public impact. The chapter on Polish political science was written by professor Teresa Sasinska-Klas, at the time of the publication, the President of the Polish Political Science Association.

Recent years have gone down in the history of the Polish constitutional thought with an unprecedented dispute concerning the underlying principles for the activity and statutory position of the Constitutional Tribunal (‘CT’) . Under the dynamics of political events following the 2015 parliamentary elections the initial doubts whether some of the CT judges were appointed correctly turned into the deepest constitutional crisis in the modern history of Poland which ultimately led to decomposition of the entire state system of constitutional control. Finding all of the underlying causes of that crisis would require multifaceted analyses carried out by experts representing various scientific disciplines. Such an undertaking goes far beyond the boundaries of this study. The aim of this sketch is to reconstruct one of the episodes of the so-called Constitutional Tribunal Crisis which is a direct outcome of the appointment of CT judges by the Sejm (Parliament) to replace judges whose terms did not yet expire . This issue is of key importance for the current discussions on the nature and consequences of CT judgments . The presence of unauthorized persons in CT adjudicating panels became also an important symbolic turning point in the systemic transformation of the Polish constitutional court at the beginning of 2017 .

One of the increased usability energy separation devices that deals with compressed fluids such as the air, the water, and several Refrigerants are the Ranque-Hilsch vortex tube due to its simple operating principle to separate the compressed fluid to two hot and cold streams. The aim of the current paper is to review the Ranque-Hilsch tube flow separation most affecting geometrical parameters influencing the thermal separation efficiency in the literature that are conducted numerically and experimentally such as the number of injection nozzles and their cross-sectional shape including the rectangular and the trapezoidal for straight constant and converged nozzle profiles as well as the helical swept nozzle configurations like the nozzles aspect and the convergence ratios, the variation of the helical profile pitch angle with the increase in the nozzles number is also considered in the survey, further geometrical parameters survey is performed that includes the vortex tube orifice size to the nozzle’s length dimensional ratio and also the vortex tube configuration like the divergent and the convergent/divergent vortex tube shapes characteristics that includes the divergent angle and the throttling zone size in addition to the vortex tube length to the hot exit port size ratio and the optimum conical valve shape position and tapering angle.

Opis:
Objective. Construction is a hazardous occupation due to the unique nature of activities involved and the repetitiveness of several field behaviors. The aim of this methodological and theoretical review is to explore the empirical factors influencing unsafe behaviors and accidents on construction sites. Methods. In this work, results and findings from 56 related previous studies were investigated. These studies were categorized based on their design, type, methods of data collection, analytical methods, variables, and key findings. A qualitative content analysis procedure was used to extract variables, themes, and factors. In addition, all studies were reviewed to determine the quality rating and to evaluate the strength of provided evidence. Results. The content analysis identified 8 main categories: (a) society, (b) organization, (c) project management, (d) supervision, (e) contractor, (f) site condition, (g) work group, and (h) individual characteristics. The review highlighted the importance of more distal factors, e.g., society and organization, and project management, that may contribute to reducing the likelihood of unsafe behaviors and accidents through the promotion of site condition and individual features (as proximal factors). Conclusion. Further research is necessary to provide a better understanding of the links between unsafe behavior theories and empirical findings, challenge theoretical assumptions, develop new applied theories, and make stronger recommendations.
