Opis:
The main source of vibration in the engine piston is the work of the piston – crank, and swapping reciprocating motion to the rotary motion. In this paper are described among others the crankshaft vibration which result in the occurrence of cyclic forces such as forces pressure of gas and inertia forces. In addition were made the analysis of longitudinal vibration of the crankshaft, which are these vibrations are an important problem in high-power vessels’ engines. Regardless of the dynamic system in which the engine is running the greatest threat for crankshaft are the torsional vibrations. The possibilities of vibration damping of the crankshaft in the engine also were discussed.

Opis:
The paper is concerned with the problem of vibration damping in a torsional system by application of dynamic eliminator equipped with piezoelectric elements. Piezoelectric elements are capable of changing their overall dimensions when exposed to external electric field. If shaped in the form of rings and placed side by side they create a cyrindrical shell the radius of which can be controlled by a voltage signal according to the converse longitudinal piezoelectric effect. The dynamic vibration eliminator with such a piezoelectric cylinder mounted in the space filled up with a viscous medium coaxially to the internal cylinrical surface grinded inside of the eliminator housing can adjust its damping coefficient by changing dimensions of the oil gap by applying the voltage to the piezoelectric elements. This property enables the eliminator to adapt its damping to variable excitation frequency so that the optimum damping constant can be obtained. This prospects the vibrating system from, what is characteristic for typical dynamic eliminators, disadvantageous growth of the vibration amplitude outside of the resonant zones.

This paper presents an analytical method of solving torsional vibration problems concering a sandwich circular shaft with a viscoelastic soft and light interlayer. The elasticity and damping coefficients of the interlayer are assumed to be dependet on its geometrical characteristic and viscoelastic properties of the interlayer material. Complex functions of a real variable are applied in the solution to free and forced vibration problems. Then, the property of orthogonality of complex modes of the free vibration, which is the basis for solving the free vibration problem for arbitrary initial conditions, has been demonstrated. The solution to the problem of real stationary forced vibration has been obtained on the grounds of the complex stationary modes of vibration.

Opis:
The anti-impact ability of shafting affects stability and security of the ship power transmission directly. Moreover, it also cannot be ignored that the rub-impact loads have influence on the torsion vibration of ship shafting. In order to solve the problem of engineering application of reliability assessment under rub-impact loads, a test rig with rubbing generator is established. By carrying out the integrative analysis, the torsional vibration characteristics, such as vibration amplitude and orbit of axle center under the rub impact load are studied. According to the rub-impact conditions obtained through numerical simulation, the experimental verification is carried out on the test rig with rubbing generator. The results show that it is not obvious the influence of rub-impact loads upon the shafting torsion vibration except in special working conditions, that can be simulated by the rubbing generator. The maximum amplitude of torsional vibration is influenced by the radial rigidity as well as the friction coefficient of rubbing body, and the degree of influence is difference under conditions of continuous rubbing and serious rubbing. By adjusting the rigidity of stern bearing, the influence of rub-impact upon shafting can be weaken, which provides a theoretical reference for the safety evaluation of ship shafting.

This article presents the analysis of a damping fluid deficiency in a torsional vibration viscous damper. The problem is analysed both qualitatively and quantitatively. Experimental results are presented, showing what happens to the damper in a situation where the design of the housing is inadequate and the inertia forces prevent the formation of an oil film. In addition, the article deals with the problem of the proper design of the oil channel and the dimensions required to enable the damper to operate reliably. The results of the article may be useful to the constructors of torsional vibration viscous dampers for marine engines.

Opis:
The structural modeling and dynamic properties of a spinning beam with an unsymmetrical cross section are studied. Due to the eccentricity and spinning, transverse deflections along the two principal directions and the torsional motion about the longitudinal axis are coupled. The structural model of the beam is established based on the Hamilton principle and by incorporating the torsional inertia. Moreover, because of its significant influence on characteristics for the non-circular cross-sectional beam, the warping effect is considered in the formulation. The proposed model is effectively validated in two cases: the spinning beam with a symmetric cross section and the cantilevered beam with an unsymmetrical cross section. Then the effects of the spinning speed on natural frequencies and mode shapes are investigated. Numerical results reveal that the critical speed is altered with respect to noncoincidence of the centroid and the shear center. For the beams with strong warping rigidities, the warping effect cannot be neglected due to significant influence on natural frequencies.

Opis:
Torsional vibration of crankshaft is a harmful phenomenon in every type of engine. It can easily cause a fatigue failure in engines with relatively long crankshafts and big bore diameters (usually above 90 mm). For these types of engines, the resonance caused by specific low order harmonic of gas force and inertia force of oscillating masses occurs in engine speed range, thus resonant torsional moment of big amplitude is generated. This moment, additionally acting on crankshaft, is harmful and can easily cause its fatigue failure. In order to reduce the resonance effects, the torsional vibration damper (TVD) has to be used. That is the reason why application of torsional vibration dampers is almost a rule in these types of engines. The viscose TVD is the most popular type of vibration damper in heavy duty diesel engine. Moment of inertia of its plunger is the main criterion of damper selection. It is the basic factor, which determines the amount of dissipation work, decreasing the additional torsional moment caused by resonance. Increasing plunger's moment of inertia induce the rise of dissipation work but simultaneously decrease natural frequencies of a crank train, what allows to resonate with low order harmonic of tangential force acting on crankpin. The paper concerns an analysis of influence of viscose TVD parameters on crankshaft's torsional vibration for six cylinder inline heavy duty diesel engine.

Development and application of pneumatic flexible shaft couplings have been in the center of our department research activities for a long time. These couplings are able to change torsional stiffness by changing pressure in their flexible elements – air bel-lows. Until now we have dealt with the use of pneumatic flexible shaft couplings for tuning mechanical systems working with periodically alternating load torque at steady state. Some mechanical systems, however, operate with a static load torque at constant speed (e.g. hoists, elevators, etc.), where it is necessary to consider the suitability of shaft coupling in terms of load torque at transient conditions (run-up and braking). Therefore we decided to analyze the use of pneumatic flexible shaft couplings also in this type of mechanical systems on an example of conveyor belt drive.

This article describes original method proposed by authors that provides decreasing of dynamic loading of tractor’s powertrain by means of change of reactive element torsional stiffness. In tracked vehicles one of the most loaded elements is final drive unit which loaded by high dynamic modes. In tractor Chetra 6C-315, final drive is epicyclic where stopped element is ring gear. Authors propose using of strictly resilient (5 degrees in forward-backward direction) mount of ring gear instead of stiffening. Design study of installation between hub and gear ring that connects drum and crown gear, of the resilient metal plates pack was performed. This pack is kind of elastic coupling. Resilient packets of coupling sustain loads and smooth over peak dynamic loads and after elastic deformation of these packets rigid coupling between hub and coupling crown is provided at contact surfaces of skewed stops of hub and crown. To analyse efficiency of proposed method of dynamic loadings decreasing of powertrain elements three-dimensional model of powertrain was created in “Universal Mechanism”. In addition, solid model of caterpillar mover was created in the same software for analysis of influence on powertrain loadings of complex of kinematic and dynamic factors influencing forming of torque on driving sprockets. This article presents results of modelling of loading processes in powertrains elements with elastic coupling and without it during longitudinal motion at various speeds and in turns with various radii. Results show that elements dynamic loading at high loading dynamic modes in case of installed coupling is decreased by 20-30%.

Opis:
The rotation of a crankshaft in piston combustion engines results from the acting of tangential forces on the crank, whose value changes with the change of the angle of shaft rotation. This results in torsional vibrations. These vibrations become especially dangerous when the frequency of changes of any components of tangential force is near or equal to the natural frequency of the shaft. It leads to resonant amplification of vibration amplitude and to exceeding the limit values of the angle of shaft torsion. Most often in such cases, various types of torsional vibration dampers are used. In automotive industry, these are usually rubber vibration dampers. Typical torsional vibration damper is an example of a resonant damper, which is designed for the most dangerous resonant frequency of the crankshaft related to the first form of vibration for which the torsional vibrations usually have the greatest amplitude. The design of such a damper involves choosing the inertia moment of the flywheel and the parameters of viscous-elastic element. The article describes the model and the simulation research, which allowed for creating the procedure of designing rubber dampers of torsional vibrations. This procedure can help to reduce the costs of operation tests for the design of optimal torsional vibration damper.
