The rapid development of technology is one of the major challenges of today’s organizations. The unprecedented capabilities offered by technology simultaneously create the demands of constant change and development of organizations themselves and their employees. For many years human-technology interaction in organization have remained in focus of interdiciplinary resarch, which resulted in several theories and models explaining technology acceptance. The aim of this paper is to present the state of the art in technology acceptance research and to introduce technology readiness theory (Parasuraman, 2000). Also the practical implications of technology readiness for human resources management will be discussed.

The article discusses selected aspects concerning Technology Assessment (TA) as an institutionalised way of supporting public policy in the area of technology governance. In the last forty years numerous approaches, concepts, perspectives and practices have been developed and resulted in many research projects conducted in various institutional settings. This vast experience and richness of TA solutions allows an attempt to summarise and critically present its evolution from classical model to more recent approaches based on participation, stakeholder involvement, public dialogue and good governance. The article begins with a brief overview of the history of TA development in the USA and Europe. In the next part a comparison between the classical and participatory model of TA is presented. Main focus is placed on various types of participatory approach and its use in different settings like technology conflicts and innovation management.

Za cel artykułu przyjęto usystematyzowanie wiedzy z zakresu rozumienia pojęcia technologii oraz przybliżenie procesu zarządzania technologią. Zwrócono uwagę na współczesne, systemowe ujęcie technologii oraz dokonano identyfikacji komponentów systemu technologicznego. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono także na jedno ze współczesnych narzędzi wspomagających działania w zakresie zarządzania technologią, jakim jest foresight technologiczny. W artykule wyodrębniono również wspólne płaszczyzny procesu zarządzania technologią oraz badań foresightu technologicznego.
The aim of the article was to systematize the knowledge that is concerned with understanding the concept of technology and is a closer look at the process of technology management. Special attention was drawn to contemporary systemic perspective on technology and technological components of the technology system. The author also drew particular attention to one of the tools supporting activities with in technology management, which is called technological foresight. In this paper, there have been also identified common layers of the process of technology management and technology foresight research.

Rozwój techniki na przestrzeni dziejów spowodował, że wzrosła liczba nowych pojęć technicznych stale włączanych do słownictwa nie tylko specjalistycznego, lecz również pojęć technicznych, którymi człowiek posługuje się każdego dnia. Spowodowało to, że specjalistyczne pojęcia techniczne stały się nieodzownym komponentem języka potocznego. Uważa się także, że technika jest największą siłą sprawczą wpływającą na rozwój języka. W prezentowanym artykule przedstawiono pilotażowe wyniki badań dotyczące znajomości pojęć technicznych przez uczniów liceów ogólnokształcących.
Technological developments throughout history have led to an increase in the number of new technical terms that are constantly being incorporated into not only specialist vocabulary, but alsotechnicalterms that peopleuse on adaily basis. As a result, specialist technical terms have become an indispensable component of everyday language. It is also believed that technology is the greatest driving force behind language development. This research paper presents the resultsofthe pilotresearch on the knowledge of technical terms by students of secondary schools.

Mówiąc słowami Aoun (2017), chodzi o odpowiedź na pytanie: jak opracować program nauczania przygotowujący uczniów do funkcjonowania w przyszłości, w której ludzie i roboty będą wykonywać pracę? Celem tego artykułu jest opisanie koncepcji technologii wspomagającej i prześledzenie jej transformacji w stronę zwiększania skuteczności uczenia się, wspomaganej przez technologię jako sposobu wspierania sukcesu edukacyjnego wszystkich uczniów. Przedstawione propozycje odnoszą się do uczniów we wszystkich klasach i mają za zadanie wspieranie ich w sprostaniu wysokim standardom związanym z czytaniem, pisaniem i rozwiązywaniem problemów matematycznych.
Education is the investment a society makes in each new generation of children and youth. Given a future that may not look like the past, how do we re-assess the purpose of education? In the words of Aoun (2017), how do we robot-proof our curriculum in order to prepare students for a future where humans and robots will complete for jobs? The purpose of this article is to describe the concept of assistive technology and explore its transformation to technology-enhanced performance as a means of supporting the educational productivity of all learners. Examples are provided to help diverse learners in every classroom as they seek to meet high academic standards relative to executive functioning, reading, writing, and solving mathematical problems.

Understanding the complexity of a teacher and its role in modern society is vitally important for the advancement in education. The aim of this research paper is to introduce the concept of cultural linguistics and to determine the impactsand the broad understanding of the role of a teacher, referredin this article as the pedagogue in the era of information and communication technology. Evidence suggest that there is a growing need to reestablish the position of a pedagogue which is one of the most important factors in the proper approach to the use of technology in modern schools. To recognize this role, the fundamentals of cultural linguistics and its schemes will be used to highlight the need for further research. A number of cross-sectional studies has accentuated the problem of digital technology in the classroom and the role/scheme of a pedagogue (Palmer, 1996; Ceratto Pargman, 2019; Sharifian, 2011, 2017). This study identified the key elements of a pedagogue and presented a sample of exercises that can be used by a teacher to utilities the digitalization of schools.

As part of this article, research work aimed at acquiring new knowledge regarding the analysis and assessment of arbitrarily selected gerontechnology: personal care robots for older adults. The results planned to be achieved under the article have not been reflected in previous scientific studies. Until now, no research has been carried out to assess this technology regarding heterogeneous criteria. The existing research results only concern the study of the acceptability of the technologies used by older people to improve their quality of life. The opinions of prospective potential users were not considered as well as their age and place of posting or education. Neither were marketing, social and ethical aspects, competitiveness or innovation. The author will use the proprietary methodology of prospective technology analysis (PAT) to analyse and evaluate the technology. This methodology allows assessing the current state of technology. It enables providing knowledge on characteristic features of the technology, current and potential applications of a given technology and necessary for the development of analysed resource technologies, as well as the impact of technology on the environment and the environment on technology.

Tworzone są kluczowe czynniki wykorzystania technologii AR / VR w dziedzinie edukacji. Obliczenie projektu modelu biznesowego dla wdrożenia technologii AR/ VR w dziedzinie edukacji, obliczono opłacalność projektu. Proponuje się wykorzystanie technologii AR/ VR w dziedzinie edukacji jako modelu biznesowego dla startupu.

Industry 4.0 (I4) as a concept offers powerful opportunities for many businesses. The set of Industry 4.0 technologies is still discussed, and boundaries are not perfectly clear. However, implementation of Industry 4.0 concept becomes strategic principle, and necessary condition for succeeding on turbulent markets. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) was used before I4 emerged. However, it should be treated as its important part and even enabler. The question arises how adoption of RFID was impacted by I4 paradigm. Therefore, to answer this question a set of technology management tools was selected and applied to forecast RFID potential development in forthcoming years. Moreover, case studies were conducted for technology management tools and their applications for RFID for qualitative discussion of its relevance. It aimed to prove that existing toolset should be applied for modern technologies related to I4. Tools were proven to be necessary and successful. However, some specific challenges were observed and discussed.

Od lat 60. XX stulecia uczeni całego świata przeprowadzają badania problemów technologii edukacyjnej. W niniejszym artykule przedstawione są teoretyczne zasady technologii pedagogicznej, która jest ważnym sposobem podwyższenia jakości kształtowania jednostki. Dużo informacji poświęcono charakterystyce typów technologii pedagogicznych, ich funkcji, właściwości oraz inności, które polegają na orientowaniu na teorię i różne koncepcje. Analiza literatury w danym aspekcie pozwoliła na syntetyzowanie zasad teoretycznych technologii pedagogicznej, w szczególności: kierunki i nurty filozoficzne w edukacji, teorie psychologiczno-pedagogiczne, koncepcje i zasady naukowe oraz czynniki, które określone są właściwościami organizacji i treści rządzenia socjalno-funkcjonalnego.
Since the 1960s, researchers all over the world have discussed problems of education technology. This article discusses the theoretical background of pedagogical technology, which is a vital tool in enhancing the quality of pedagogical intervention. A lot of information concerns the typology of pedagogical technologies, their functions and distinctive features that emerge from the discrepancies in the particular conceptions and their theoretical backgrounds. Our analysis allows a synthetic presentation of the theoretical principles of education technology, with special emphasis on the following aspects: philosophical ideas and currents in education, psychological and pedagogical theories, scientific conceptions and principles behind social functionalist organizational structures and management.

Opis:
To comprehensively investigate the diversity of a chamfer technology and a convex roll technology under the same soft reduction process (i.e., section size, reduction amount, casting speed and solid fraction), a three-dimensional mechanical model was developed to investigate the effect of the chamfer profile and roll surface profile on the deformation behavior, cracking risk, stress concentration and reduction force of as-cast bloom during the soft reduction process. It was found that a chamfer bloom and a convex roll can both avoid the thicker corner of the as-cast bloom solidified shell, and significantly reduce reduction force of the withdrawal and straightening units. The convex profile of roll limits lateral spread along bloom width direction, therefore it forms a greater deformation to the mushy zone of as-cast bloom along the casting direction, the tensile strain in the brittleness temperature range (BTR) can obviously increase to form internal cracks. The chamfer bloom is much more effective in compensating the solidification shrinkage of mushy zone. In addition, chamfer bloom has a significant decrease of tensile strain in the brittleness temperature range (BTR) areas, which is expected to greatly reduce the risk of internal cracks.

The article presents the results of literature research in the field of Technology Assessment (TA). In particular, the attention was focused on searching for trends determining the directions of development of this research area. Research gaps constituting the basis for undertaking new cognitive challenges were identified. As a research method, a systematic review of literature was adopted, the methodology of which was described in the first part of the article. The analysis includes a total of 1788 TA-related scientific articles available in Google Scholar and BazTech databases. The practical part of the article presents fragments of literature research and an attempt to define the concepts of Technology Assessment on their basis. The collected research material showed a high degree of variation in the scope of definitions and the research area covered by TA. This indicates the need to conduct further research in this area for the purpose of clarifying the research area which TA deals with. It is legitimate to say that the development of research in this area is necessary due to the increasing impact of technology on society.

Celem artykułu jest omówienie roli uniwersytetu technologicznego w rozwoju systemu technologicznego. Rozwój gospodarki to nieustanny proces doskonalenia technologii: od prostych technik wytwarzania po zaawansowane systemy produkcji. Gdy dawniej były one dziełem pojedynczych ludzi lub podmiotów gospodarczych, współcześnie stanowią efekt działania sieci technologicznych, przyjmując postać systemów technologicznych. Wyróżnia się sekwencyjne i interakcyjne systemy technologiczne. Pierwsze - to maszyny i urządzenia techniczne, drugie - to struktury sieciowe opierające się na ludzkich interakcjach. W pierwszych mamy do czynienia z sekwencją działań (każda operacja poprzedza kolejną, a awaria jednego elementu blokuje cały system, np. urządzenia oczyszczające z zanieczyszczeń wodę). W drugich współpracują ze sobą autonomiczne podmioty i instytucje zajmujące się kreowaniem, transferem i wdrażaniem nowych technologii.
The paper aims to discuss the role of the technological university in the development of the technology system. Economic development involves constant striving for perfection in technology: from simple manufacturing techniques to advanced production systems. In the past they were made by individuals or enterprises wheras in the modern world they are produced by technology networks and take the form of technology systems. Technology systems can be sequential or interactive. The former include machines and technical equipment whereas the latter consist of interaction-based network structures. The former involve a sequence of actions (each operation precedes another, and a failure of one element obstructs the entire system as in, e.g., water purification devices). The latter involve co-operation between autonomous entities and institutions which develop, transfer and implement new technologies.

Theoretical background: The development of new technologies has a considerable impact on the functioning of numerous service industries. The market of hotel services largely draws from the achievements of the digital revolution. Purpose of the article: The aim of the article is to present modern ICT solutions used in the hotel industry and to present the opinions of the owners of year-round accommodation facilities in the Lublin voivodeship on the impact of technological environment factors on the development of their companies. Research methods: To achieve the article’s aim, source materials are analysed concerning the subject matter and the findings from the author’s own study, conducted in April and May 2018 using the CATI method. Main findings: Entrepreneurs who participated in the study see the potential of the Internet as a technical means which facilitates access to potential customers. An alarming finding of the study is the low level of awareness among the respondents as to the significance of modern technological solutions which are essential for the hotel product and are the source of companies’ competitive advantage.

Opis:
From research on policy implementation and reform in education, it is well known that change is either very slow or tends to fail. Implementation is a complex procedure, not a direct transfer from government policy to practice (Younie, 2006). There is also research-based knowledge about planning and implementing of ICT strategies in Finland and difficulties in this implementation (Lavonen, Lattu, Juuti, & Meisalo, 2006). Consequently, it is challenging to help student teachers or practicing teachers to adopt use of ICT in education. We will focus here mainly on initial teacher education (TE) according to the OECD ICT in Initial Teacher Training (IITT) project aims. In general, there is a broad agreement on reasons and methods why and how ICT should be integrated to TE. The importance of this area can be seen in that there are specific associations for promoting research in this area like the Association for Information Technology in Teacher Education and many more whose activities expend to this field like the Finnish Association for Mathematics and Science Education Research in Finland.

Technology research, design, and development is confronted with rapidly advancing digitalization in two respects: (1) digitally supported or enabled technologies need to be designed and developed, and (2) the respective R&D processes themselves will happen in a much more digitalized environment. Technology design generally must take into account the values involved and possible consequences of the development and use of the resulting products, services, and systems. In a digitalizing environment, the issue of values gains even more significance because more and more close and intimate interfaces between humans and technology have to be shaped. Designing human-machine interfaces is not only a functional issue but touches upon ethical questions such as the distribution of responsibility, but also upon anthropological issues related to the human self-image and ideas about future society as well. In the respective research, design, and development processes, value-laden issues such as control, privacy, empathy, responsibility, and accountability must be taken into account beyond technical issues of efficiency and reliability. The need for designing and shaping digital future technologies involving ethics and technology assessment will be demonstrated by three examples: future industrial production and the fields of self-driving cars and care robots. Value sensitive design and responsible research and innovation will be introduced as approaches to deal with these challenges.

The article discusses the issues related to the participatory Technology Assessment (pTA). The author highlights that in order to conduct pTA one not only needs to be convinced that there is a point in this activity, but also should have techniques and tools that convert ideas into effective social actions. The article reviews most important experiences with the application of different methods designed to take into account knowledge, perspectives and interests of a broader array of stakeholders or members of general public in the political discussion on potential employment of new technologies, such as consensus conferences, citizens juries, and scenario workshops. Strengths, weaknesses and expected outcomes of the chosen methods are characterized on the basis of specific examples described in academic and professional literature.

An important element in microelectronics is the comparison of the modelling and measurements results of the real semiconductor devices. Our paper describes the final results of numerical simulation of a micromechanical process sequence of the atomic force microscopy (AFM) sensors. They were obtained using the virtual wafer fab (VWF) software, which is used in the Institute of Electron Technology (IET). The technology mentioned above is used for fabrication of the AFM cantilevers, which has been designed for measurement and characterization of the surface roughness, the texturing, the grain size and the hardness. The simulation are very useful in manufacturing other microcantilever sensors.

The rapid technical developments and the actual discussion about Industry 4.0 demonstrates the need for more effective and efficient technologies to be able to handle upcoming business demands. Those technologies have not just to cover data production, transmission, and integration, but especially increased heterogeneous handling requirements of potential user groups, e.g. employees on the shop floor. Such a technology might be smart data glasses and as an instanciation of this class Google’s product Glass. Especially top management representatives or managers still recognise a certain potential of the device. Based on developed applications, a simultaneous transmission of data is possible. The BMW Manufacturing Co. announced that it developed an app improving the quality especially of videos. This software allows a loop of two minutes (in the background) so that the appearance of errors or certain issues can better be identified without searching within a video. Besides, the data glasses synchronise itself with a smartphone so the data are available decentr.
Szybkie postępy techniczne i faktyczna dyskusja na temat sektora 4.0 pokazują potrzebę bardziej efektywnych i wydajnych technologii, aby móc obsłużyć przyszłe wymagania biznesowe. Technologie te nie tylko obejmują produkcję, transmisję i integrację danych, lecz przede wszystkim zwiększone heterogeniczne wymagania dotyczące obsługi potencjalnych grup użytkowników. Taką technologią mogą być inteligentne okulary pozwalające na analizę danych, jak np. produkt Google Glass. Z analizy wynika, że najwyżsi przedstawiciele kierownictwa i menedżerowie rozpoznają potencjał urządzenia. Podczas wykorzystywania rozwiniętych aplikacji możliwy jest przy jego użyciu symultaniczny przesył danych. Firma BMW Manufacturing Co. ogłosiła, że opracowała aplikację poprawiającą jakość tego przesyłu, zwłaszcza w przypadku filmów wideo. The objective of the analysis conducted and described in this article was to take a closer perspective of the contemporary research trends that refer to the discipline of technology management. The Author based the analysis on keywords defined by the authors of the publications that refer issues of technology management. Scopus was the database which provided data for the analysis. The Author focused on publications indexed in the selected database in 2011-2016. The resulting database keywords have been ordered and partially aggregated. Based on them, the VOSviewer tool was used to prepare a graphical presentation of frequency and co-occurrence with the rest of the analysed group. The analysis led to an indication of current research trends within the discipline of technology management.

e-Choupal is an initiative of Indian Tobacco Company (ITC) Limited which came into existence in the year 2000 with an objective to link rural farmers via the Internet to procure agricultural products. Traditionally, agricultural commodities were procured in mandis, major agricultural marketing centers in rural areas, where the middleman make most of the profit. These middlemen used unscientific and unfair means to judge the quality and set the price of the product and therefore there has been less incentive for the farmers to invest and produce good quality output. With the formation of e-Choupal, the farmers were given a choice to sell their products freely diminishing the influence of the middlemen. This initiative also addressed issues like fragmented farms, weak institutions, and information asymmetry amongst farmers.This paper examines and evaluates the business model of ITC e-Choupal and studies the acceptance of this business by the farmers.

The aim of this paper is to show some aspects of the interplay between technology and philosophy in the context of western culture. In the first section the author considers the possibility of applying M. Heller's strategy called 'philosophy in science' to technology. 'Philosophy in technology' should not be seen as a competitor for philosophy of technology but rather as a complementary philosophical account. The second section introduces the concept of 'defining technology' drawn primarily on some considerations of J.D. Bolter. In the third one the author tries to discuss four 'defining technologies': craft technology of antiquity, mechanical clock, steam engine, computer, and their metaphorical influence on the ways of viewing the world and the man. In the final section it is argued that besides science, religion, philosophy, arts etc., technology also has its significant contribution to the image of the world throughout the history.

This paper discusses the concept of Technology Assessment (TA) and its rationale in light of complex relations between technology, market and democracy. The author points out their limitations: market proliferates discoveries and inventions but distorts mechanism of cultural limitations of the process of scientific innovation; democracy is in deep accord with scientific meritocracy, individualism and creativity, but on the other hand it slowly loses its control grip over science; technology is predominantly responsible for positive public representation of science, but it is guilty of most terrifying and problematic inventions. In conclusion, the author argues that only taking into account the complex hybrid of science, technology, market and democracy may provide understanding and control over technological innovations.

Artykuł przedstawia pojęcie Przedsiębiorczości Technologicznej (PT), określa jej zakres oraz miejsce w całej gałęzi badań nad przedsiębiorczością. Wskazano na problemy w zdefiniowaniu tego zjawiska ze względu na jego wielowymiarowość. Omówiono propozycję modelu struktury PT, a także zdefiniowano pojęcia Przedsiębiorcy oraz Przedsiębiorstwa Technologicznego. Przedstawiono również argumenty dlaczego PT należy wyróżniać spośród innych typów przedsiębiorczości. Podkreślony został ogromny wpływ PT na rozwój gospodarki oraz konieczność specyficznego podejścia w kluczowych obszarach dla jej rozwoju.
The article presents the concept of Technology Entrepreneurship (TE), defines its scope and place in the field of researches about the entrepreneurship. Problems with defining TE are pointed out in that elaboration. The proposal of the model of TE framework is discussed. The definitions of Technology Entrepreneur and Enterprise are also included. Arguments why TE should be distinguished from other types of entrepreneurship are presented. The author has also underlined huge impact of TE on the country economy grow and the need for a specific approach in key areas affecting on TE development.

Opis:
Technology transfer (TT) through university-industry research collaborations is one of the key factors for successful innovation processes. Taking into account country and industry related specifics, this paper examines and analyses motivations and mechanisms of TT in the German energy sector as well as factors that facilitate and hamper these processes based on 24 qualitative semi-structured interviews of company and research participants conducted in 2012. Building on the evaluation of the study results, specific patterns of TT are derived and practical recommendations for university and industry management as well as political stakeholders are developed.
Transfer technologii wynikający ze współpracy jednostek badawczych i przemysłu jest jednym z kluczowych czynników decydujących o sukcesie procesów innowacji. Biorąc pod uwagę specyfikę gospodarki i przemysłu niemieckiego, autorzy dokonali analizy motywacji i mechanizmów transferu technologii charakterystycznych dla niemieckiego sektora energetycznego, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem stymulant i barier występujących w tym procesie. Analizą objęto 24 przedstawicieli przedsiębiorstw i sektora B+R zaangażowanych w transfer technologii. Ocena wyników pozwoliła na wskazanie wzorców transferu technologii i opracowanie rekomendacji dla środowiska naukowego oraz przedstawicieli przemysłu i decydentów rządowych.

The possibilities of using the information technology of foggy computing, which implements the processes of selecting primary messages from sensory nodes and their processing, and further transferring the results of primary computing to server environments based on information technology platforms of cloud type are analyzed in the article. It is noted that both of the approaches – mist and cloud computing – can be effectively used in a wide range of applications, in particular those that are used in information and technology complexes of “smart cities”. The system of parameters which distinguishes a separate class of information technologies called Big data is analyzed in the paper. The analysis made it possible to fix 10 basic parameters of the so-called 10 v, with the help of which a separate class of information technologies is allocated. Big data technologies, along with the technologies of foggy and cloud computing are elements of a powerful information technology platform that allows us to solve a wide range of problems for smart cities. The authors illustrated the system-technological connections of these classes of information technologies and analyzed the possibilities of their use in the context of implementation of the information technology project “Ternopil Smart city”.

The paper present non-instrumentalist view of technology derived by the work of M. Heidegger, G. Agamben and H. Arendt. This non-utilitarian aspect of technology is used to explain the social meaning of flint working in prehistory. The changes of flint technology related with so-called ‘tool technological revolution’ observed in Neolithic indicate radical shift in social significance of technology. During this period the dichotomous division of work and labor (described by H. Arendt) appear.

W artykule zwrócono uwagę na znaczenie krzemu i technologii krzemowej zarówno w rozwoju mikroelektroniki – a co za tym idzie – także informatyki, a także w rozwoju mikrosystemów (ang.: MEMS – Micro- Electromechanical System), gdzie łączy się elektronikę z mikromechaniką, oraz w rozwoju zminiaturyzowanych systemów do całkowitych analiz chemicznych (ang.: μTas – Micro Total Analysis System).
In this paper, the role of silicon for development of computer technology is emphasized. It is noticed that Micro-System Technology (MST) as well as Technology of Micro Total Analysis System (μTAS) are also derived from silicon technology. Hence, the importance of silicon in many modern human activities is concluded.

Alternative post-industrial direction of agricultural production problems decision due to integrated use of biotechnological alternatives is considered. Methodology of agricultural technologies development by type of bioconversion complex is offered. The variant of systems approach and algorithm of agricultural bioconversion complexes engineering are worked out allowing to remove the existing heuristic methods drawbacks.

Konkurencyjność przedsiębiorstw w nowoczesnej gospodarce jest silnie uwarunkowana innowacyjnością, czyli umiejętnością opracowania i wdrożenia nowych rozwiązań technologicznych i organizacyjnych, nowych produktów. Większość przedsiębiorstw w Polsce praktycznie nie jest w stanie wprowadzać rozwiązań innowacyjnych. Związane jest to przede wszystkim z wysokimi kosztami opracowania i wdrożenia innowacji. Nowe technologie stanowią jednak konieczność dla konkurencyjnych gospodarek światowych. Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie zarówno pod kątem bilansowym, jak i podatkowym ekonomicznych efektów wdrożenia nowych technologii. W pracy przedstawiono również model aplikacyjny.
The competitiveness of businesses in the modern economy is heavily conditioned by innovation, or the ability to develop and implement new technological and organizational solutions, new products. Expenditure on research and development in Poland are very low. New technologies, however, the need for competitive economies in the world. The purpose of this article is to present both the balance sheet at an angle, as the economic and fiscal effects of the implementation of new technologies. The paper presents also a model application.
