Opis:
The paper presents the autonomous hydroacoustic sound velocity profiler collaborating with ordinary PC by small box included interface & battery charger. The measurement and calibration methods and block diagram of the meter are presented as well as principles of operation, data collection, selection and transmission. There are described three versions of this meter - dropped from "normal" ships, installed in the light hull of submarines and casings in the hulls of variable depth sonar antennas.

Opis:
The ability of identification of meat types using ultrasonic measurement was evaluated in this work. Four types of muscles were analyzed (turkey breast and thigh, and pork loin and ham). Ultrasonic measurements were performed at storage (5 ±1oC) and room (20±1oC) temperatures using the through-transmission technique and differential method of determination of sound velocity and the attenuation coefficient. The mean values of sound velocity for the breast, thigh, loin and ham were respectively: 1550.7, 1536.6, 1558.7, 1559.7 m/s at the storage temperature, and 1582.7, 1578.5, 1596.9, 1592.7 m/s at the room temperature. The mean values of the attenuation coefficient in the same order were: 21.3, 23.2, 30.6, 28.1 m-1 and 22.2, 18.9, 22.0, 22.4 m-1. Statistically significant differences in the sound velocity were observed between pork and turkey muscles, therefore, the meat of those species can be identified based on ultrasound measurements of sound velocity. The attenuation coefficient cannot be applied in the identification of meat types due to absence of significant differences in the mean values.

Opis:
Sound velocity, densities of binary mixture of Tetrahydropyran (THP) with 1-hexanol has been measured over the entire range of composition at T = 298.15 to 318.15 K. The excess parameters viz., excess sound velocity, deviations in isentropic compressibility, excess molar volume, excess free length and excess acoustic impedance are deduced from experimental values and discussed intermolecular interactions present in the mixture. At the end all the parameters have been fitted to Redlich-Kister equation and their coefficients are obtained.

Opis:
Young’s modulus, yield stress and Poisson’s ratio are studied for different size and tem- perature. The temperature dependence of simulated Young’s modulus is quite similar to experimental results. Transverse sound velocity is estimated from the simulated elastic con- stants at each temperature. The dislocation speed reaches up to 75% of the transverse sound velocity. The dislocation speed decreases with increasing temperature linearly. The tempera- ture dependence of macroscopic deformation behavior and the possibility of the existence of supersonic dislocations are discussed. The transverse sound velocity and rigidity G is calcu- lated from Young’s modulus, Poisson’s ratio and density ρ which changes with temperature.

Opis:
The subject of the study was to determine the impact of changes in mechanical properties of high-tin bronzes on the basic components of the sound of a bell. Change in the tin concentration in the range of about 7.5 to 20 parts wt. in a casting alloy significantly affects the mechanical properties of the alloy such as Young’s modulus or hardness. The free vibrations of bells were obtained with the help of the finite element method. In the numerical analyses the mechanical properties of standard alloys were adopted. The obtained natural frequencies of the bell made of a bronze with different tin concentration in copper were compared with the acoustic properties of a real bell casted on the basis of the same ribs. A significant effect of the increase in the alloying share of tin on the obtained results was stated. In addition, the acoustic analysis of aluminum bronze C95500 have been performed. Based on the obtained results, authors stated that this material can replace the commonly used high tin bronze C91300 for the unit production of bells.

Opis:
A new instrument for precise measurements of velocity of sound in gases was developed and tested. The instrument implements improved velocity of sound measuring technique based on time-of-flight measurement of ultrasonic pulses. The instrument was developed primarily for conducting measurements in natural gas, it can operate in wide ranges of natural gas compositions as well as other gas mixtures with velocity of sound parameter in range of 200 to 500 m/s. The instrument allows conducting measurement of velocity of sound propagation in various gas mixtures with average repeatability of equal to ±1 cm/s at normal conditions. The accuracy of measurement depends on calibration conditions and approach, and has good agreement with theoretically calculated values. The instrument has a modular design of control unit and flow-through measuring chamber. The set of distinctive features and adjustable measuring parameters of the instrument allows further improving of applicability for other gases and gas mixtures and various measurement conditions. The instrument showed good performance in the task of quantitative characterization of binary gas mixtures by velocity of sound parameter.

The samples of Leznikovskуi granite deposit from different parts of the quarry were exposed to pull and compression test. The test findings showed that the samples do not only have different shades of red but also mechanical properties. The unloaded ultrasound examination of samples was also performed. 31 rock samples were exposed to compression test. The influence of the explosion-based mining technology on mechanical properties of the rocks was identified. The findings of experimental research of the rock sound velocity dependence on rock compression were presented. The research findings can be applied in diagnostics of construction elements made of natural stone in the course of installation.
Próbki granitu z Leznikovskiego złoża uzyskane z różnych części kamieniołomu poddano próbom ściskania i rozciągania.

Opis:
The noise of motor vehicles is one of the most important problems as regards to pollution on main roads. However, this unpleasant characteristic could be used to determine vehicle speed by external observers. Building on this idea, the present study investigates the capabilities of a microphone array system to identify the position and velocity of a vehicle travelling on a previously established route. Such linear microphone array has been formed by a reduced number of microphones working at medium frequencies as compared to industrial microphone arrays built for location purposes, and operates with a processing algorithm that ultimately identifies the noise source location and reduces the error in velocity estimation
