Reader-response theory is based on the assumption that a literary work takes place in the mutual relationship between the reader and the text. According to this theory, the meaning is constructed through a transaction between the reader and the text within a particular context. Readers assume multiple roles when responding to a variety of forms of literature. The process of developing responses facilitates active and meaningful reading and increases emotional and intellectual participation in the text, which ultimately provides learners with better comprehension and awareness of the text. The potential value of classroom discussions helps learners to express their emotional reactions, to elicit their responses, to nourish their perspectives for furthering depth of their interpretation, to corroborate their opinions and share their responses for building a social relationship. It is crucial that learners are directed to perform more adequately in response to texts and actively engage in dialogues to pose literal and inferential questions, to explore a range of possible meanings and to foster cognitive development and comprehension.

Opis:
Emotions have become an increasingly valuable element of reading studies, literary theory and empirical research on reader response. Here, I discuss some new issues in the field of affective studies on literary reading. This article is an overview of some main consequences of digital revolution (e.g. redefinition of reading, reading habits, and reading experiential values). These cultural changes challenge the classroom teaching of literature. I suggest, that the new media and technologies have a deep impact on the traditionally conceptualized ideas of “reader response”, “emotional involvement”, since they activate new forms of reading experiences and new modes for expressing them. The socially-based and interactive environment has been transforming the ways people (young readers) engage in reading texts and this seems to be a newly emerging object of research for the empirical literary studies on reader response.

This paper concerns the process of negotiating author and reader roles in the blogosphere. The starting point of this article is the theory of Roland Barthes that the death of the author is necessary for the birth of the reader. This idea notably responds to changing relations between the author and the reader in the new nedia era. The exemple of the blogosphere allows us to see that the roles of the author and the reader are not pre-defined and the filed of their "laws" is negotiated (two models of negotiations are described in this paper). In the blogosphere, wkich is an exemple of participatory culture, knocking the author off his pedestal does not result in the reader replacing the author, as R. Barthes would like. On the empty pedestal, after dumping the author, the reader does not appear - but communication does.

The article is dedicated to the reception of Czesław Miłosz’s works in Ukraine at the beginning of democratic transformations and today. The author concentrates attention mostly on two aspects: translations and critical and journalistic discourse. This enables her to indicate the specificity of the way the Polish thinker and writer’s works have been received by Ukrainian readers. The adoption of smart card technology in various parts of Africa has reduced electoral malpractices, resulting in election credibility and acceptability. However, its use in Nigeria’s electoral process is believed to have downsides. The paper investigates how adopting smart card technology reduced electoral malpractices during the 2019 presidential election, making it more transparent, credible, and reliable than the traditional technique. It uncovers the flaws of the technology in Nigeria, including card reader malfunction, delays in accreditation and voting, the inability of the INEC staff to operate the technology efficiently during voting, and election postponement, among others. It is therefore recommended that the INEC improve public awareness of the use of the technology and train its staff.

In recent years, we have been able to observe a stronger trend to explore the educational reality by way of scientific research. This results from the pressure on quantitative indicators and evidence-based arguments. International surveys focus mainly on educational effects and provide more or less accurate rankings of educational systems and the degree of learners’ success, school and national rates. In addition to these trends, however, it is also necessary to focus one’s research on the real world of children and young learners in a holistic concept. Qualitative research strategies prefer more phenomenological and personalistic approaches based on exploratory and investigative scientific methods. Such approaches have been applied by the authors in previous studies: they have published several studies and two monographs dedicated to children who are about to begin their education and their understanding of the world. This research was supported by the VEGA 1/0598/15 “The Child at the Threshold of Education and its World” project. In this paper, the authors will present brief findings from these studies. The basic source was authentic children’s testimonies to the significant phenomena of their world and childhood. Building on these findings, we are currently focusing our research on the formation and development of the children’s readability (supported by the VEGA 1/0455/18 “Research and Development of Readability with Younger School-Age Learners” project1). There are convincing claims that this phenomenon is the most important determinant of success in education and the development of creativity and critical thinking.

The article explores scientific principles, the principles of historicism, ethnic, unity of form and content, systematic and balanced development, the role of teachers, accessibility, clarity, strength and effectiveness of the studying results. Purpose: The purpose of this article is to define the specifics of teaching literature in Kazakh schools, enhance reading culture (of students first of all, it is related to the selection of material and ethnical diversity of students in Kazakh schools) and evaluate the ways of literary works analysis at school: reading and analysis, reader’s perception and ways of determining it, “following-the-author” analysis; to study the system of literary images, problem analysis as a way of survey at school. Methods: During the study of this article the research method was used as the most efficient. The article also emphasizes the special significance of accounting the knowledge and skills. In this article we consider the attitude to literature as a kind of illustration, a particular way of understanding reality. Results: The ultimate goal of educational activity is formation of the student as subject, who have reached the level of development to carry out educational activities by itself; plan and adjust their actions to correlate the result with the intended purpose.

From the perspective of the reader-response criticism, this article underlines the ethical and esthetical tension between the duty of memory and the unspeakable in the context of the project « Rwanda : écrire par devoir de mémoire » and specificly in the novel L’aîné des orphelins by Tierno Monénembo. Although the « horizon » of expectations typical to the commitment toward the duty of memory is reinforced by the peritext (Genette, 1987), Monembo’s novel challenges the reader’s expectations by silencing and delaying the personnal story of young narrator-survivor Faustin.This stepback from direct violence allows the novel to focus on structual forms of violence (Galtung 2010) and urges the public to question his responsability in the testimonial reception.

The present paper explores Durtal’s conversion as the refusal of any fixed reference. The reflections of the hero on his personal experience, but also on the social transformations are characterised by the metaphysical seriousness and semantic experiments. The constant lexical substitution arouses the curiosity of the reader: its referential opacity is only apparent. Thus, the writer emphasizes that going beyond the beaten path requires a new mode of expression where meaning no longer depends on the rehashing of commonplaces, but relies on semantic mismatches and prolonged tensions between juxtaposed terms. Likewise, social transformations strongly disapproved of by the hero become the source of paradoxical reasoning where truth is expressed through the negativity of judgment. Nevertheless, despite the lucidity of his social and ethical judgments, Durtal remains blind to the imperfection of his own conversion. Moreover, the frequent recourse to paradox demonstrates that the protagonist is still in doubt which announce a long spiritual path of true conversion.

Hebrews 3:1-6 is one of the most intriguing passages of the letter. It catches the attention of who reads or hears the letter for several reasons: one of which is the way the author presents Jesus Christ. It establishes a comparison between Moses and Christ in order to demonstrate Christ’s superiority as the high priest and apostle. It is the only passage in the New Testament where Jesus is presented as an apostle. The reader-oriented research points out to the way the author addresses the audience of his letter and how he manages to catch their attention and present their present status. Those who accept Christ’s mission as the apostle are sanctified and can be considered the house of God governed by Christ.
List do Hebrajczyków 3,1-6 jest jednym z najbardziej intrygujących fragmentów listu. Zwraca on uwagę czytających lub słuchających z kilku powodów. Jednym z nich jest sposób w jaki autor przedstawia Jezusa Chrystusa i porównuje Mojżesza z Chrystusa. To porównanie ma celu wykazanie wyższości Chrystusa jako najwyższego kapłana i apostoła. Jest to jedyny fragment w Nowym Testamencie, gdzie Jezus jest przedstawiany jako apostoł. Lektura tekstu biblijnego zwracająca uwagę na adresata i jego reakcję uwypukla również sposób w jaki autor odnosi się do odbiorców, jak przyciąga ich uwagę i w jaki sposób podkreśla ich nowy stan w jakim się znajdują.

W artykule podjęto zagadnienia dotyczące relacji pomiędzy eseistyką, autobiografizmem a pozycją czytelnika bądź czytelniczki. Główna hipoteza autorki brzmi: eseistyczne „ty” w większym stopniu niż eseistyczne „ja” może być kluczem do autobiograficzności esejów pisanych przez kobiety. Lektura eseistyki Herty Müller, Jeanette Winterson oraz Zadie Smith hipotezę tę wzmacnia, ale też modyfikuje współtworzące ją przekonanie o pisarstwie jako poszukiwaniu porozumienia z odbiorcą.
The article undertakes the topic of the relations between essay, autobiography and reader’s position. The main hypothesis in this paper is: esseyistic “you” more than esseyistic “I” can help in understanding the issues of autobiographism of women’s essays. Herta Muller’s, Jeanette Winterson’s and Zadie Smith’s essay writing confirm this hypothesis, but also modifies conviction about writing project as an agreement between author and reader.

As its point of departure the article takes the intensifying tendency of contemporary art to conjoin the so-called classical literacy with the refreshing capabilities provided by the new media. It is argued that both new media works and the classical literary ones adapted to them-along with new types of books such as audiobooks or e-books, and the new theories recognising their difference-result in a paradigm shift due to which the very category of medium might seem obsolete. Consequently, the article proposes to withdraw from it and privilege the interface instead. It is through this revitalising trope that material traits of liberary works may be affirmed in the way they influence the perceptive, temporal, spatial and sensory capacities of the “reader.” Following this observation, liberature may be regarded as the constitutive element of our epoch. Regardless of whether it is only a fashionable category or an actual break, liberature marks the importance of the material aspect of communication. This pioneering term in turn becomes the part of a greater set of phenomena constructing our already trans-medial everydayness.  
Punktem wyjścia niniejszego artykułu jest zyskująca na znaczeniu tendencja współczesnej sztuki do łączenia tzw. klasycznie rozumianegoczytelnictwa z innowacyjnymi możliwościami, jakie niosą nowe media. Zarówno dzieła nowomedialne, jak i klasyczne dzieła literackie zaadaptowane pod ich możliwości (nie wspominając już o nowych typach książki, takich jak audiobooki czy e-booki, a także o nowych teoriach rozróżniających ich inność) świadczą o zmianie paradygmatu, w perspektywie której pojęcie medium wydaje się anachroniczne. Tym samym, niniejszy artykuł proponuję zarzucić tę kategorią i skupić się na pojęciu interfejsu. Ten obiecujący trop pozwala nam dostrzec i afirmować materialne aspekty dzieła liberackiego, pozwalając nam dostrzec jego wpływy na percepcyjne, temporalne, przestrzenne i zmysłowe możliwości "czytelnika". W związku z tym, liberatura może zostać uznana jako konstytutywne element epoki, w której żyjemy. Niezależnie czy jest ona jedynie modną kategorią czy świadczy o właściwym przełomie, liberatura uwydatnia rolę materialnego aspektu komunikacji i staje się częścią większego zbioru zjawisk, konstytutywnych dla naszej już transmedialnej codzienności.

The aim of this article is to examine the stereotypy in Balzac’s novel Cousin Bette, by relying on the scene of a famous confrontation between Célestin Crevel and his metaphysical opposite – Baroness Hulot d’Ervy. José-Luis Diaz underlines that the Balzacian stereotype imposes itself as the imitation of the social norm and all kinds of linguistic, sartorial, behavioral automatisms etc. His research justifies the use of the concept of stereotype in relation to Balzac’s creation, especially because the nineteenth century only knows its meaning in printing. Thanks to the notion of stereotype, we can question on its influence on the behavior of the protagonists. We are also able to identify the character of the social norm of the time and its regulatory mechanisms. On the one hand, the excessively fixed language, like the cliché, allows the writer to imitate the material preoccupations of the bourgeoisie under the July Monarchy by forging, in the reader’s mind, his negative image. On the other hand, this analysis shows that the protagonist’s expression goes beyond linguistic mimicry. The stereotype allows a certain stylistic originality by which the protagonists give the reader a look into their belief systems. In this sense, the stereotype is a mechanism of regulation : it complicates the characters, creates an impression of reality. Finally, this stylistic enity capture the reader’s attention with logically permissible ideas that are morally unacceptable.

This study is based on the assumption that literary interpretations are explicitly or implicitly influenced by some philosophical system as a general system of thought. In this way, different literary interpretations often hide more general philosophical ideas. Nevertheless, this study tries to show that the interpretation of the given work of art need not be conceived only as application of the general philosophical approach; interpretation of the work of art, as argued in this essay, can in significant ways also show the philosophical approach itself. The subject of this study is the case of Henry James’s short story “The Figure in the Carpet.” This essay includes an analysis of how Tzvetan Todorov, Joseph Hillis Miller, Wolfgang Iser and of Pascale Casanova interpret the story and how they use its dominant image of a “figure in the carpet” for illustration of their own theoretical and philosophical approach.

Reading and technology are believed to have a strong link with learner autonomy. This research aims at investigating how digital reader response tasks in a reading class promote learner autonomy. The students were given reader response tasks which challenged them to respond to texts using digital infographic and presentation tools in Moodle forum. The data of this case study, collected from questionnaires, online records, and reflections involving 25 participants, were analyzed based on the domains of autonomy. The findings indicated that digital reader response tasks in a Moodle-based reading class enabled learners to plan, execute, and evaluate their own learning. The findings also showed that these online tasks did not only motivate learners to engage in meaningful language learning experience, but also encouraged them to nurture social dimensions of autonomy.

The article reveals the actual problem of understanding and reception of the translation of a literary work in the context of Belarusian-Russian bilingualism with the dominant use of the Russian language. Although the translation in a bilingual context often helps readers to understand better, it can also hinder the reception when bilingual readers comparing both texts are not satisfied with translation. It is not possible to establish general limitations on account of the variability of both understanding and subsequent creation of the work which is by nature subjective and ambiguous. Not only should translators have a thorough knowledge of the language of the original work but they also are expected to know social-cultural conditions of the society for whom they translate.

The main characters are William ‘Max’ Perkins, an editor of the Charles Scribner’s Sons publishing house and Thomas Wolfe, a writer starting out at the time. The film is concerned with their relationship and the creation of the novel. The book functions as both a work and an artefact (also as typescript). Literature is a conversation topic and a way of living. One of the most important spaces is the publishing house building. Piotr Zwierzchowski, however, analyses Genius primarily as a contribution to reflections on the act of reading and its film visualization, referring to the distinction introduced by Alberto Manguel(modelled on Barthes’ écrivain and écrivant) between the reader as someone who reads “with no ulterior motive” and one “for whom the text is a vehicle towards another function”.

The article is devoted to the analysis of English translation of non-standard language in Wojna polsko-ruska pod flagą biało-czerwoną by Masłowska. The decisions made by the translator were investigated in terms of Hejwowski’s techniques of translating language varieties. The analysis of chosen expressions proves that in most cases the translator decided to adapt the text to the target readership and rather resigned from the author-oriented rendering. It shows that a culture-specific novel is intelligible for the target reader when the language is lucid.

The Children’s Room. The intrusive dialogues behind the scenes of the puppet theatre are bitter sarcasm, directed at both the reader of the drama and the author himself. The reader, immersed in the reading, becomes one of the author-hero’s playthings, who observes the course of erotic fantasies that, let us repeat, happen ‚behind the scenes’. Sexuality is an intrusive force that organises and influences a person’s life and feelings. It clutters his head. „Intrusive thoughts. On Emil Zegadłowicz’s The Children’s Room” is an interpretation of the work, with particular attention paid to the way eroticism functions in it, „sexual obsessions” and the introduction of the poetics of scandal.
"Pokój dziecinny" to gorzki sarkazm, skierowany zarówno do czytelnika dramatu, jak i do samego autora. Czytelnik pogrążony w lekturze staje się jedną z zabawek autora-bohatera, obserwującego fantazje erotyczne, które dzieją się „za kulisami”. Seksualność to natrętna siła, która organizuje życie i uczucia danej osoby oraz wpływa na nią. Zaśmieca mu głowę. "Natrętne myśli" nad „Pokojem dziecinnym” Emila Zegadłowicza to interpretacja dzieła, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem sposobu, w jaki funkcjonuje w nim erotyka, „obsesje seksualne” i wprowadzenie poetyki skandalu.

Ewa Nowacka occupies an important place among the contemporary Polish writers and her prose works for young recipients, extensive as far as various subjects and genres are concerned, contain many inventive, unique concepts and writing ideas. Nowacka is, first of all, the author of novels of manners and historical ones, in which the writer presents her imagination, her aspiration for the reconstruction of life of manners, cultural life, concern for noticing concrete things, details, which are the background of experience of a young character who struggles with eternal, archetypical problems, the universalism and psychologism of which is the strong point of the author’s writing. The recipient of Ewa Nowacka’s works notices that characters create their destiny through ordinary struggle, that it is necessary to mythologize the existence in order to understand the world.

This article presents two aspects of showing the power of literature. Orhan Pamuk, a Turkish Nobel prize winner, in his book New life is more focused on the content of the novel. Main characters of the story are entirely devoted to one book that totally changes their lives. Italo Calvino is more focused on the structure. His characters take part in a great adventure just to find the end of the story that they are interested in. The main goal of this article is to show differences and similarities in showing the same literary issue. Italo Calvino's novel is more optimistic and positive. Literature has good influence on his characters. On the other side, Orhan Pamuk's novel shows a destructive side of literature. Characters in his book seem to be defeated from the very beginning. Those two books show in a very good way the difference between European optimism and Oriental, especially Turkish, sentimentality, which in Turkish language has its own name – hüzün. It can be translated as 'blues, sadness, spleen'.Both novels present the power of literature and its influence on readers.

The paper considered the implementation of radio frequency identification system of animals for stall milking machines. The proposed system is a part of the information-measuring system of animal zootechnical parameters and process parameters to obtain milk that is used in milking dairy cattle farms departments. This article examines the drama Joanna the Wife of Chuza (1909) by Lesya Ukrainka, who is one of the defining figures in the history of modern Ukrainian literature. This work is considered an example  of creating a new communicative model, introducing the poetics of an open work in the Ukrainian literature and establishing a new relationship between writer and audience. The incompleteness of the central image of this work, and therefore of the corresponding behavioral model and worldview, leads to the absence of a plot ending which would be the final solution to the conflict. In this way, Ukrainka establishes a new reading practice, not limited to experiencing the ‘life world’ of the author’s work. As reference to the history of thetext shows, it corresponds to the author’s conscious instruction, with which the composition of the work agrees: the events take place in a special period of time, when the previous story has already ended and the new one has not yet begun (after the crucifixion of Christ, but not after the resurrection). At the same time, the spatial organization of the work emphasizes the position of readers, turning them from interested witnesses to active searchers. The example of Joanna is all the more telling because it undermines the hegemony of the novel in twentieth-century literature and draws attention to literary forms that correspond to a particular literary situation, especially that of ‘submerged population groups’ (Frank O’Connor). The change introduced by Lesya Ukrainka at the level of a separate work is also a change within the genre as a way of communicating between an author and a reader; it is also a change in the very notion of literature as a certain type of aesthetic experience and as a culturally established way of cognitive and rhetorical response to a certain type of situation.

In the Phaedrus, the expression τὰ γεγραμμένα φαῦλα ἀποδεῖξαι, „to demonstrate the inadequacy of its own written” could mean „to make a palinody.” The requirements to define someone as a philosopher that Socrates provides (Phdr. 278) describe in theoretical and normative form what the dialogue has already represented in its dramatic form. Plato has targeted the speech of Lysias and the first speech of Socrates as belonging to a literary genre that is still in statu nascendi: a sophistic conference in which the writing is supposed to be read aloud and there is established a particularl emotional relationship between the reader and listener with the subordination of the latter to the former. For Socrates this relationship should be different and the speeches as well as books should have a completely different intent, content and form: philosopher must offer to the one whom he loves a chaste and virtuous conduct: such conduct, in its imitation of the divine, is precisely what distinguishes him from other scholars: τιμιώτερα. The philosophical relationship must involve a different kind of reading: a silent one that can neutralize the deleterious and seductive effects of the voice. This does not imply, however, that all books are the same. Philosophical writing is not a palindrome on a statue, like a picture. Its qualifying element is the linear and irreversibile sequence. Time flows between one segment and the next. Thus, thoughts presented in writing move in space, whereas characters that have thoughts in them also move over time, changing and modifying themselves. That is precisely how philosophical writing, such as the platonic dialogue, can reproduce logos.

This paper gathers Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s selected statements relating to the reception of his most significant work of art The Red Wheel. The conditions of “proper reading” are depicted in Solzhenitsyn’s interviews, journalistic texts and fragments of the narrative included in his epic. The author of the paper explores the writer’s requirements that concern the influence of literature and a reader’s response to the historical novel. The reconstruction of Solzhenitsyn’s model reception also enables to define the writer’s attitude towards his reader. The author of The Red Wheel believes in the social role of literature and the universal meaning of a literary text concentrated on truth, thus Solzhenitsyn’s approach stresses the ethical dimension of literature and the figure of writer as a guide.

Picturebooks are an essential tool in early literacy programs to foster first language acquisition. Hence, supporting second language acquisition through pictures seems obvious. Using symbolic and iconic features to produce meaning not only links to visual literacy, but also to the stimulation of students’ imagination. Interactions with pictures can become a key factor to reveal students’ mental processes and the role of the learners’ first language experiences. This paper focuses on the possibilities for second language acquisition that exist and how they foster visual literacy in primary school classrooms. The insights here outlined are based on a classroom project with primary school students with refugee backgrounds. The project design was based on the picturebook Seasons by Blexbolex, which offers various associations linked to spring, summer, fall and winter. In the book each season is represented by a series of images, captioned with one single word. Since the illustrator sums up the circle of life in the name of childhood, the classroom project aimed at collecting individual anecdotes from the students. During the lessons diverse learning activities were created, not only to get the students to aesthetically engage with the picturebook, but also to focus on their usefulness as a scaffolding context for language learning.

The purpose of the article is to locate liberature within a greater historical and theoretical framework, and to propose an understanding of liberature as a genre. For many years, materiality of literature has been excluded from literary studies, finding its shelter either in library and information studies or among editors. Recently, this tendency has been changing rapidly, as the variety of studies and theories on electronic literacy, new media literacy or the visual aspects of widely recognised works do not cease to prove. Liberature is no exception in this matter. It is argued that the increasing interest in liberature, along with its reception, provides a fertile ground for reading it as an independent genre. With this assumption in mind, the very notion of genre should no longer be perceived as a fixed collection of bounding rules and categorising devices, but rather as the dialogic and creative space aiming at influencing and referring to other texts. In this sense, such a position of liberature, already recognised in Polish literary criticism, might genuinely serve its predominant purpose to explore the refreshing and effective methods of reading, which apply- but are not limited-to the germinating liberary tradition. In fact, they may stimulate new interpretations of diverse preceding texts, whose both materiality and visuality have been repressed.
Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ulokowanie liberatury w szerszej perspektywie historycznej i teoretycznej oraz zaproponowanie jej rozumienia jako gatunku. Przez wiele lat, materialność literatury nie była pełnoprawnym przedmiotem badań literackich, znajdując schronienie jedynie w bibliotekoznastwie, badaniach nad informacjami, czy znajdując zainteresowanie u redaktorów. W ostatnim czasie, ten trend uległ gwałtownym przemianom, głownie dzięki licznym teoriom elektronicznej literackości, literackości nowomedialnej czy wizualnych aspektów dzieł literackich, a także licznym studiom badawczym traktującym o powyższych tematach. Liberatura nie jest w tej kwestii wyjątkiem. Rosnące zainteresowanie nią i jej repcja dostarczają obiecującej przestrzeni czytania jej jako samodzielnego gatunku. Podążając za takim założeniem, musimy jednak przemyśleć kategorię gatunku na nowo, nie jako zbiór wiążąchych reguł i porządkujących kategorii, a raczej jako dialogiczną i twórczą sferę wpływów i odniesień do innych teekstów. Tym smym, liberatura, zauważona poprzez polską krytykę literacką, może służyć swojemu najistotniejszemu celowi: odkrywania odświeżających i efektywnych metod czytelnicznych, które obejmują tradycję liberacką (choć nie tylko ją). W gruncie rzeczy, mogą one stymulować nowe interpretacje licznych, już istniejących tekstów, których aspekty wizualne i materialne były dotychczas niezauważalne.

This paper reports on the findings of these aspects of my own semi-ethnographic study which relate to the reader-oriented view of didactic discourse and emphasize the constitutive impact of social context (and the relations of power inscribed in it) on the formation of the writer’s self. Following Halliday’s (1978, 1994) approach to “language as a form of social practice” I will argue that power relations are a central force which mediates didactic discourse and profoundly affects the way student writers construct their authorial self.

One salient feature of Robert Frost’s aesthetics was his sharp differentiation of the visual from the audile imagination. Frost (a former schoolteacher) had noticed the difference between visual and audile/phonetic readers, and considered the eye reader to be a ‘bad’ reader. The article examines those features of Frost’s own poetic practice which would have led him to consider the eye reader a bad reader, as well as the sorts of prosodic content an eye reader may be prone to miss. Having examined Frost’s aesthetic objections to the eye reader, the question is then posed: does Frost ever treat the “eye reader,” or oral versus visual predilections, thematically in his artistic writings?

The article presents the image of a reader in fantasy (Bookweird of Paul Glennon), romance novel (La grand-mère de Jade of Frederique Deghelt), dystopian novel (Fahrenheit 451 of Ray Bradbury) and crime fiction (The Library of Shadows of Mikkel Birkegaard). There are a lot of similarities and differences between the readers’ portrayals. The literary genre has an impact on creating reader’s image. The protagonists read either since their childhood or since landmark event in their lives. They encounter some obstacles and threats during reading, which make the story more attractive. Books have the power to change fictional characters’ lives.
Artykuł prezentuje obraz czytelnika na postawie wybranych utworów w literaturze fantasy (Księgowir Paula Glennona), romansowej (Babunia Frederique Deghelt), antyutopijnej (451° Fahrenheita Raya Bradbury’ego) i kryminalnej (Biblioteka cieni Mikkela Birkegaarda). Można zauważyć wiele podobieństw i różnic między sposobami przedstawienia motywu czytelnika. Gatunek literacki ma wpływ na kreowanie wizerunku czytającego bohatera. Protagoniści czytają od dzieciństwa lub od przełomowego wydarzenia w ich życiu. Podczas lektury napotykają na pewne przeszkody, co sprawia, że historia staje się bardziej interesująca. Książki mają moc zmieniania życia fikcyjnych bohaterów.

Opis:
Article presents problems reader's literacy within the context of communication competence. It focuses in detail on the processes of reading comprehension and reading intentions in the selected group of school-aged pupils of various kinds of primary school education. Scientific pedagogical, special educational and psychological knowledge are supplemented by an interpretation of results of current research findings. Comparative analysis procedure was used to assess an educational progress in pupils of 3rd classes in the selected areas of literacy. There were described the strengths and weaknesses of the educational reality related to the curricular postulates. Based on the results of the research there were submitted proposals and measures for the special educational theory and practice at a general, legislative and curriculum level.

Danuta Wawiłow’s poems for children were created in the second half of the 20th century. The poems classify as the language poetry, employing in the compositions the mechanisms and figures of speech characteristic of this aesthetic current. The poet uses stylization, she reconstructs the creative attitude to language typical of kindergarteners, which is based on experimentation and abounding in similar-sounding words. Wawiłow implements the particularly strongly individualized variation of linguism. She tests the language potential with regards to the needs of an individual – a child who attempts to express their feelings, thoughts, and emotions. Wawiłow’s poetry is not only focused on the language, but also explores the subjectivism of the lyrical subject and new ways of its expression.

This study aimed at discovering the characteristics of non/traditional readers that can be used to formulate a typology and identify students’ attitudes towards reading for pleasure. It also deals with the social context influencing students’ reading culture. The questionnaire survey was conducted on 381 students at the Faculty of Education, University of Ostrava. The results showed that students who read for more than one hour a day prefer to read books in paper form, including textbooks, over reading electronic books, multimedia texts or playing on computers and consider themselves traditional readers. Non-traditional readers use critical thinking methods to understand texts and prefer a multimedia format for texts when reading for pleasure over playing computer games, reading e-books, and reading paper-based books. The study also points to the growing importance of the evolving multimedia reading culture in the era of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution.

RFID systems are one of the essential technologies and used many diverse applications. The security and privacy are the primary concern in RFID systems which are overcome by using suitable authentication protocols. In this manuscript, the cost-effective RFID-Mutual Authentication (MA) using a lightweight Extended Tiny encryption algorithm (XTEA) is designed to overcome the security and privacy issues on Hardware Platform. The proposed design provides two levels of security, which includes secured Tag identification and mutual authentication. The RFID-MA mainly has Reader and Tag along with the backend Server. It establishes the secured authentication between Tag and Reader using XTEA. The XTEA with Cipher block chaining (CBC) is incorporated in RFID for secured MA purposes. The authentication process completed based on the challenge and response between Reader and Tag using XTEA-CBC. The present work is designed using Verilog-HDL on the Xilinx environment and implemented on Artix-7 FPGA. The simulation and synthesis results discussed with hardware constraints like Area, power, and time. The present work is compared with existing similar approaches with hardware constraints improvements.

Opis:
Socialization to reading in early childhood is necessary to make reading an obvious, giving pleasure activity. It can be strengthened through literary socialization, for example by reading together with caregivers, browsing through books and talking about them with the child as a pastime at home or in a kindergarten, playing pretend or make-believe games based on a text that was read, etc. The child should be an active participant in all strategies of socialization to reading – autonomous in evaluation and interpretation of the text. The studies on social reading attitudes and motivation prove that reading experiences build intrinsic motivation in reading. When reading is an important, attractive, obvious practice for children, their will to read comes from the conviction that reading brings pleasure and satisfaction, it means that they are intrinsically motivated to reading and they become engaged readers. The author of the paper will describe the process of socialization to reading based on emotions evoked during literary reading and responsible for improving reader’s Theory of Mind. Engagement will be also analyzed through emotions awakening during the reading process in relation to the literary characters, as well as the reader’s participation in the game designed by the plot’s author. Such emotions unleash cognitive processes, self-reference memory, and anticipation, such as figuring personality traits of a literary character, or free empathy-related emotions, for example wanting to become friends with a literary protagonist. Readers follow the narrator into a fictional world, which allows them to experiment with their own states of mind, train their empathy and identify with the character. Theoretical and empirical studies of reader’s response in the context of socialization to engagement in reading will be discussed in this paper.

Figury czytania kryminału poświęconej opisowi różnych modeli oddziaływania literatury kryminalnej na czytelnika, a przede wszystkim doświadczeniu czytania dla przyjemności. Rozpatrując proces czytania jako swoistą strategiczną grę między czytelnikiem a autorem i tekstem, Kraska analizuje potencjalne scenariusze kryminalnych lektur, które prezentuje przy użyciu figur uzależnienia, uwodzenia, śledzenia i interpretacji. Tekst gdańskiego badacza to próba stworzenia kompleksowej analizy kategorii gry w kontekście gatunku powieści kryminalnej, stanowiąca nowatorskie spojrzenie na ten gatunek literatury.
The paper discusses the latest publication by Mariusz Kraska entitled Prosta sztuka zabijania. Figury czytania kryminału [Simple Art of Killing. Figures in Reading Crime Fiction] in which he presents different models of impact that crime literature has on a reader, with special reference to so-called reading for pleasure. Since the reading process is considered a sort of strategic game between the reader and the author or his/her text, Kraska analyses potential scenarios of crime novels and presents them with the use of the following figures: pleasure of becoming addicted, pleasure of being seduced, pleasure of following the plot and pleasure of interpreting. The researcher from Gdańsk attempts to provide comprehensive analysis of game category in the context of crime fiction, in other words takes a novel look at this literary genre.

After the II World War, literary anthology has become one of the most important means of representing Ukrainian literature, and it has changed depending on the definition and redefinition of the writer’s status. In the meantime, in the Soviet literature under the supervision of the Academy of Sciences, there appear multi-volume editions constructing the figure of the writer as a participant in the socialist reorganization of reality, emigration anthologies develop the myth of the writer as the creator of the textual world, becoming a new “common place” for the entire cultural community. Literary anthologies published after the collapse of the USSR (whose number has grown manyfold) reflect all the problems of transforming the identity of the author from the prophet to the player in an uncertain reality, as well as various models of mythologizing creativity from romanticism to postmodernism. In this context, the change in the genre of anthology becomes especially noticeable; it gradually moves from the collection to the project. On the one hand, commercialization of literature in market conditions and the transformation of the writer into a “producer” of textual goods are visible. On the other hand, next to the classic writer who, in a manner recognized by readers, represents aesthetic values, there emerges the figure of a writer as a public intellectual who undertakes the challenge of creating new meanings and new forms of expression on current issues.
Po II wojnie światowej antologia literacka staje się jednym z najważnejszych sposobów reprezentacji literatury ukraińskiej, który zmienia się w zależności od definiowania i redefiniowania statusu pisarza. Podczas gdy w literaturze radzieckiej pod opieką Akademii Nauk pojawiają się wydania wielotomowe, konstruujące postać pisarza jako uczestnika socjalistycznej reorganizacji rzeczywistości, antologie emigracyjne rozwijają mit o pisarzu jako twórcy świata słów, stającego się nową „przestrzenią spotkania” dla całej wspólnoty kulturowej.Antologie literackie opublikowane po upadku Związku Radzieckiego (których liczba rośnie wielokrotnie) odzwierciedlają wszystkie problemy transformacji tożsamości autorów od wieszcza do gracza w niepewnej rzeczywistości, a także różne modele mitologizacji twórczości od romantyzmu do postmodernizmu. W tym kontekście szczególnie widoczna staje się zmiana natury gatunkowej antologii, która stopniowo przechodzi z kolekcji do projektu. Z jednej strony zauważalny jest efekt komercjalizacji literatury w warunkach rynkowych, przekształcenie pisarza w „producenta” towaru tekstowego. Z drugiej strony, obok klasycznego pisarza, który w uznawany przez czytelników sposób reprezentuje wartości estetyczne, powstaje postać pisarza jako intelektualisty publicznego, podejmującego wyzwanie tworzenia nowych zmysłów i nowych formwypowiedzi na aktualne tematy.

The article researches the issue of the relevance of poetry in the USSR, using as an example the year 1926, when several literary periodicals simultaneously decided to investigate the attitude of their readers and of poets towards this issue. The analysis of the surveys conducted among readers and in libraries confirms the statement made by Boris Pasternak that lyric poetry was then undergoing a crisis, caused by the loss of its past audience and by not yet having any new audience who would need the subjectivity of an author to be presented to tchem in a lyrical form.
В статье рассматривается проблема востребованности поэзии в СССР на примере всего одного – 1926 года, когда одновременно несколько литературных изданий решило исследовать отношение к ней читателей и самих поэтов. Анализ проведенных опросов читателей и библиотек показывает правоту Бориса Пастернака, который утверждал, что в настоящее время лирическая поэзия переживает кризис, связанный с утратой прежнего ее адресата и несформированности нового реципиента, который бы нуждался в лирических формах презентации субъектности ее автора.

Opis:
The article deals with a particular case of intra- and intertextual translation of a highly pragmatic nature, which can be seen in Puppet. A Chicano novella by Margarita Cota-Cárdenas. Composed mainly of fragments of conversations, monologues and personal letters, the novel reflects Spanish-English codeswitching, as a characteristic feature of the speech of the Mexican American community in the USA. By (re)producing a range of heteroglossal forms of this community communication, Cota-Cárdenas uses translation procedures to reach the hybrid reader who is, at the same time, the hallmark of Chicanos. The multilingual strategies (Hansen Esplin, 2012) of the author and the translators, Barbara D. Riess and Tino Sandoval, become the main pragmatic objective of the novel, both in its source and target versions. Given the multitude of translation procedures observed in both versions of this hybrid novel, the relativity of traditional translation terms, such as original and translation, is also discussed, as both turn out to be bilingual texts and pragmatic translations.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to present the relationship between literature, religion and existential knowledge in the memorial work of François-René de Chateaubriand. The first main problem is the transmission of universal values represented by Christianity. The second problem are narrator’s tragic experiences that become a source of precious knowledge communicated to the reader. These narrative stakes, reinforced by rhetorical persuasion, are crucial to ensure immortality of the author through the pertinence of his voice addressed to posterity.

The subject of Austin Wright’s novel Tony and Susan (published in 1993) is the reader’s experience. The peculiar relationship that forms between the main female character - a reader of literary fiction – and the novel itself as well as its author, inspired in 2016 Tom Ford to capture the specifics of the same relationships using the language of moving images. This article presents the effects of studying the complex system of communication situations occurring in the novel and its film adaptation: each of them contains an additional story around which further author-reader relationships are formed. The analysis shows that a significant part of the film’s plot is not a direct insight into the novel, but its concretization projected by a female protagonist. Tom Ford’s film is therefore considered in relation to Roman Ingarden’s theory on aesthetic concretization.
