    Opis:
    Football hooligans are a group extremely prone to radicalization. Research and analyses from Western and, especially, Eastern European countries show a strong infiltration of this group of fans by Violent RightWing Extremism (VRWE). This is aided by the cult of strength and violence as well as the violent actions of this category of football fans. The aim of this work is to investigate this phenomenon in the Polish context and to describe the relationship between right-wing extremists and the environment of football hooligans and “ultras.” Numerous incidents related to the VRWE ideology at stadiums will be listed, as well as direct relationships between the VRWE activists and football hooligans. This will make it possible to place the case of Poland in the international context of this phenomenon and to show the advancement of this process.

    The article includes a definition and a description of radio gawęda (or talk radio show) in comparison to the literary gawęda, and a discussion of its various genre variants, using the examples of radio shows by Zygmunt Nowakowski, Alfred Zbyszewski, and Tadeusz Nowakowski, and the television shows by Jerzy Waldorff and Bogusław Kaczyński.

    Opis:
    Radio Free Europe was one of the most effective tools of Cold War in the hands  of the western countries. The fact which is relatively unknown is that one of its  units was conducting widespread surveys primarily aimed at establishing the level  of the Station’s popularity in the countries to which it directed its broadcasts.  Somehow additionally, the Station collected the information which today allows us  to obtain the picture of the Polish public opinion on various topics, among others,  on the issues concerning international affairs. International affairs are very closely  linked with the internal situation of the country and are mainly perceived from  this perspective. Particularly interesting are the opinions of the Poles on the  Arab-Israeli War which got a lot of publicity in Poland, above of all, in the form of an  Anti-Semitic witch-hunt symbolised by March 1968. Another interesting aspect  is the attitude of the Poles to the problems of racism in the United States.  Anti-American opinions, unfavourable to racism, are mixed with xenophobia which  many Poles did not conceal. From the perspective of the RFE studies, the Polish  People’s Republic emerges as the country of dying hopes, deepening stagnation,  and the Poles as the opponents of the system who are hostile towards the USSR yet  are not willing to risk a mutiny or a protest. In spite of all, in their majority, they  assumed positions of adapting to and conforming with. Simultaneously, the  surveys recorded also the opinions of the RFE employees who prepared the reports;  these people often did not understand the realities of the studied countries and had  a tendency to see the world only in black and white colours.

    This article re-examines the material collected by the RFE Audience Research Department between 1958 and 1961 among Polish refugees and temporary visitors from Poland in the West. The aim of this analysis is to gain fresh insight into the attitudes and opinions about the Polish Section of the Radio Free Europe expressed by its listeners.
    Celem artykułu jest udzielenie odpowiedzi na pytanie, w jaki sposób Polacy zza żelaznej kurtyny oceniali Rozgłośnię Polską RWE. W artykule przeanalizowano wyniki badań przeprowadzonych przez Dział Badania Słuchalności RWE w latach 1958–1961 wśród osób przebywających na Zachodzie — uchodźców oraz czasowo odwiedzających państwa Europy Zachodniej.

    The text contains the first editions of the texts of two literary programs broadcast by the New York section of the Polish branch of Radio Free Europe, provided with a foreword and a commentary. The texts survived in the Polish emigration archives in the form of a manuscript or a typescript with the author's handwritten alterations. Both texts broaden the knowledge of work for the radio that Polish writers in exile did. The author of the first text, written in 1950 after the death of George Bernard Shaw, is Jan Lechoń; the program is a recollection of his meeting with the British dramatist in London in 1930. In the foreword the changes in Lechoń's attitude to Shaw's works are shown – from his early fascination to the period of skepticism that he experienced during his stay in emigration. The other one, written by Kazimierz Wierzyński, is a review of Andrzej Bobkowski's Szkice piórkiem (Sketches in pen and ink) published by the Instytut Literacki in Paris in 1957. It was the first of all reviews and discussions of the book that appeared in the émigré press; the two writers' similar vicissitudes at the beginning of the Second World War and a critical attitude towards the French society of that time that they shared is especially interesting in the review.
