Opis:
A one-factor field experiment was carried out in 2016–2019 at the Experimental Station in Lipnik near Stargard. The aim of the study was the cultivation of Virginia fanpetals in two systems of sowing and planting, determining the impact of the cultivation system on the yield quantity, calorific value, moisture, content and dynamics of the macronutrient uptake by Virginia fanpetals, calculation of the relationship between the yield and NPK intake, calorific value and yield as well as the analytical moisture content. Studies have shown that the method of establishing the plantation (sowing, planting) did not have any significant impact on the calorific value of Sida. A statistical analysis indicated that the method of establishing the plantation (sowing, planting) did not have a significant impact on the formation of the nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium contents in the biomass, while it was significant for magnesium and sulfur. More macroelements was contained in the Virginia fanpetals biomass from sowing compared to planting. The total uptake of macronutrients by the Virginia fanpetals biomass was higher in the planting cultivation system. In the system of planting cultivation, in the first year of plantation operation, higher dynamics of the N, P, K, Mg and S uptake by the Virginia fanpetals biomass compared to the sowing system was found. A correlation analysis showed very high degree of correlation between the size of Virginia fanpetals biomass yield as well as the nitrogen and phosphorus uptake.

Opis:
In view of the extremely important role of wetlands, an attempt was made to determine the state of preservation of peat forming processes as a condition for the proper functioning of those areas. By addressing this question, we hoped to determine whether the peat bogs and mires of the Łęczna-Włodawa Plain currently act as carbon sources. The aim of the present study was to compare the ash content and the contents of selected macroand micronutrients in the deposits. The research was carried out in the years 2010-2013 and covered eight peatland areas (three midfield and five mid-forest peatlands). The ash content, as well as the content of biogens, and selected macro- and micronutrients of the studied deposits varied and depended on the type of the deposit forming a given layer. In all the studied deposits, the carbon content was high, especially in the transitional Sedge-Sphagnum peat and the raised pine peat. The marsh layers, in relation to the studied peat minerals and gyttja, were characterized by a lower carbon content, and the restriction of C:N and N:P ratios. In all the studied peat bogs, located in the Łęczna-Włodawa Plain, the accumulation phase dominated, so they do not act as carbon suppliers.

Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.), is one of the important crops grown in the world which is important as food and nutritional security option at the global level. The experiment was laid out as randomized complete block design in three replications with six nutrition treatments consisted of control, NPK, Mog bio-fertilizer, Nano-Ca, Nano-Zn+B and Nano-Com. The treatment-by-trait (TT) biplot analysis was applied to data to examine its usefulness in visualizing relationships among trait as well as treatments and showed that the first two principal components accounted 80% of total variation. Tuber yield, mean tuber diameter, mean tuber weight, tuber weight per plant, starch content of initial fresh, number of tubers per plant, number of leaves and dry matter content were in the same sector, with Nano-Com fertilizer treatment as the best treatment. Based on ideal entry biplot, the Nano-Com treatment is closest to the position of an ideal treatment and it is ranked the highest in term of morphological performance. Also, the best fertilizer treatment for obtaining of high tuber yield could be found as Nano-Com treatment following Nano-Zn+B treatment. The studied nanofertilizers showed a good potential compared to the commercial bulk and bio fertilizers.

Opis:
The world’s noticeable population growth is associated with an increased demand for agricultural products. The search for new solutions to increase crop productivity while ensuring environmental stability is becoming a key role. One such method is the use of the biopreparations containing Effective Microorganisms. EM consist of about 80 species of selected aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms, which have the ability to restore the biological balance. Professor Teruo Higa of Ryukyus University in Okinawa is the creator of Effective Microorganisms. When added to agricultural ecosystems they stimulate plant growth, improve the condition of soils affected by excessive use of chemical fertilizers allowing insoluble forms of elements to be transformed into plant-available forms and protect them from certain diseases and pests. This solution is an ecological alternative to conventional technologies and does not further pollute the ecosystem, which is crucial. Organic fertilizers in the form of EMs are made using live microorganisms they do not only deliver nutrients to the soil but also allow inactive ones to become available. With improved nutrient uptake and protection from soil pathogens, plants develop and grow better for improved yields. They contain organic matter and one or more biologically active organic compounds (amino acids, vitamins) as well as macroand microelements that stimulate plant growth and development. They provide plants with essential substances, which are naturally synthesized in many complex biochemical processes, causing energy savings that can be used for other transformations in the plant.

Nawozy wieloskładnikowe umożliwiają dostarczanie roślinom jednocześnie kilku składników pokarmowych w odpowiednich ilościach i proporcjach, najczęściej z uwzględnieniem zasobności gleby w przyswajalny fosfor, potas i magnez. Celem pracy była ocena wpływu zastosowanych nawozów wieloskładnikowych mieszanych na wielkość plonu, zawartość i pobranie makroelementów przez pszenżyto jare. Trzyletnie doświadczenie polowe (2005-2007) przeprowadzono w zakładzie Dydaktyczno-Doświadczalnym w Tomaszkowie należącym do Uniwersytetu Warmińsko-Mazurskiego w Olsztynie. Doświadczenie, założone metodą losowanych bloków, obejmowało trzy obiekty nawozowe: obiekt kontrolny (nawozy jednoskładnikowe) oraz dwa nawozy wieloskładnikowe mieszane - Amofosmag 4 (NPKMg 4:15:15:2) i Amofosmag 3 (NPKMg 3:14:20:2).

Opis:
The aim of the study was to determine the effect of soil management systems of Brunic Arenosols on the total content of organic carbon and its fraction susceptible to oxidation in comparison with the soils under forests. The samples for study were taken from the humus horizon at the sites located in the forests and soils from little midforest cultivated fields (hunting plots). The agrotechnical treatments increased the content of the plant-available forms of P, K and Mg in the soils of most hunting plots in comparison to the forest soils. In the arable horizon of the hunting plots, t a varied total content of organic carbon and its fraction susceptible to oxidation was found. The cultivation of soil in the hunting plots caused a decrease in the content of total organic carbon as well as its labile and non-labile fraction. In order to evaluate the carbon transformation in the soil of the cultivated plots against the forest (reference soil), the Carbon Management Index (CMI) was used. The decay rate of soil organic matter in a natural forest was lower than in the agricultural fields. A long-term tillage of Brunic Arenosols contributed to the degradation of the pool of organic carbon in sandy-textured soil.

Percentage of young sportspeople adjusting diet to training seems to be low, taking into account both established importance of such proceedings and awareness of sport nutrition strategies in this group. interestingly, more men than women do so. Group of respondents following well-documented iSSN recommendations is comparably modest. Perhaps the topic of nutrition strategies should be given more emphasis in schools and sport associations.

The content of macronutrients in plants was determined spectrophotometrically. The applied soil amendments and copper doses led to significant variations in the concentrations of the analyzed nutrients in spring rapeseed. Zeolite and halloysite were most effective in increasing the average above-ground biomass of the tested plants. Zeolite had a beneficial effect on the content of total nitrogen, ammonia nitrogen and phosphorus in the above-ground parts of spring rapeseed. Raw halloysite increased the content of sodium and calcium, whereas modified halloysite contributed to an increase in the nitrogen, potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium content of the tested plants.

Eucomis autumnalis is an attractive ornamental species from the South Africa, commonly used in natural medicine. Plant protection programs, particularly those concerning plants grown for phytotherapeutics, are focused on prophylactic treatments that facilitate a limited use of pesticides negatively affecting the environment. Polysaccharides, such as chitosan and sodium alginate are exemplary non-toxic and biodegradable substances used for hydrogel coatings. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of treating E. autumnalis bulbs with fungicide or coating with natural polysaccharides on the morphological traits and content of minerals in the leaves and bulbs. Prior to planting, the bulbs were divided into three groups: (I) untreated bulbs (control); (II) bulbs treated with Kaptan and Topsin fungicides; (III) bulbs coated with oligochitosan and sodium alginate. Bulb coating was found to exert a stimulating effect on plant height, number and length of leaf, greenness index (SPAD), number of flowers per inflorescence, fresh weight of the aboveground part and fresh weight of bulbs. The leaves and bulbs of plants grown from coated bulbs contained more nitrogen, potassium and boron. Treating the bulbs with fungicides positively affected the number of leaves, greenness index and fresh weight of the aboveground part.

low-mineralized mineral waters
Opis:
Background. Metabolic Syndrome (MS) is a widespread pathological condition, a group of interconnected metabolic disorders that contribute to the development of a number of severe noncommunicable diseases. Natural mineral waters of various compositions are widely used in the correction of MS. Their biological activity and specificity of action is associated with the presence of specific components (micronutrients, biologically active substances). At the same time, many researchers do not pay enough attention to the role of the biological activity of macro nutrients in low mineralized mineral waters. Objective. To assess the corrective effect of macro-components of mineral waters based on a comparative analysis of changes in the structure of internal organs of white rats with the MS model, receiving mineral waters of the same balneological type, but with different quantitative composition of macro components. Materials and methods. The material for histological and histochemical tests were the internal organs of male white rats with body weight 280–320 g. Animals were ranked into 4 groups: I - rats served as a control, ӀӀ - rats with a model of MS; ӀӀӀ and ӀV - rats received the mineral waters against the background of MS modeling. The mineral waters used in the work were characterized by an increased (in close amounts) content of organic substances (C org.), similar in chemical but different in quantitative macro-component composition. At the same time, mineral waters practically did not differ in terms of total mineralization. Modeling of MS was carried out for 60 days by replacing 10% fructose solution in drinking water bowls, introducing white bread crackers into the diet, and excluding green mass from the diet. In groups where animals were corrected for MS, mineral waters were administered with an intragastric tube with olive at a dose of 1% of body weight daily, starting from the 60th day of the experiment, for 12 days. Upon completion of the experiment on day 72, histological sections (which were stained with hematoxylin-eosin) were prepared from the extracted pieces of the heart, stomach, liver and kidneys tissues. The succinate-dehydrogenase (SDH) and lactate-dehydrogenase (LDH) activity were determined on the prepared cryostat sections. Using a light microscope, changes in the structure of the above organs and changes in the activity of oxidative-restorative enzymes were evaluated. Results. The activity of oxidative-restorative enzymes was approaching normal; some manifestations of changes in water metabolism in the animal organism persisted. At the end of the use of both mineral waters, a significant decrease was found in the content of visceral fat around the intestines, renal capsule, under the pericardium, which correlated with a decrease in the animal’s body weight and restoration of the fasting blood glucose level to the cereal level. The authors believe that the established features of the corrective effect of both mineral waters on changes in the structure of internal organs are explained not so much by the difference in the content and ratio of the bioactive component (C org.), but by differences in the content of macronutrients. In mineral waters obtained by rats of group III, the content of Cl– and SO4+2 ions is 2.30 and 3.67 times, and Ca2+ and Мg2+ ions are 2.75 and 4.57 more than in mineral waters, which received rats of group IV. However, the content of HCO3–, Na+, K+ is 1.14 and 1.30 times higher in the mineral waters obtained by rats of group IV. Conclusions. The authors believe that the macronutrients involved in the implementation of MWs biological activity affect the metabolic background of the organism, which creates the bioactive element - C org. conditions for the performance of more intensive corrective action.

The leaf concentrations of N, P, K, Ca and Mg during the studied period for the White variety ranged from 19 to 25, from 1.1 to 1.3, from 13 to 18, from 20 to 24 and from 2.7 to 2.9 g kg-1 (on dry weight basis DW), respectively. The corresponding values for the Black Royal variety ranged from 22 to 26, from 1.1 to 1.4, from 13 to 19, from 23 to 29 and from 2.5 to 3.4 g kg-1 (DW), respectively. The corresponding values for the White Royal variety ranged from 19 to 25, 0.9 to 1.2, 10 to 17, 26 to 30 and 4.3 to 4.5 g kg-1 (DW), respectively. The leaf content values of Fe, Zn, Cu, Mn, and B during the studied period for the White variety ranged from 107 to 147, from 42 to 35, from 10 to 9, from 52 to 61 and from 23 to 40 mg kg-1 (DW), respectively. The corresponding values for the Black Royal variety ranged from 77 to 155, from 38 to 41, from 8 to 9, from 52 to 66 and from 23 to 56 mg kg-1 (DW), respectively. The corresponding values for the White Royal variety ranged from 84 to 126, from 44 to 48, from 8 to 9, from 88 to 98 and from 23 to 47 mg kg-1 (DW), respectively. According to the results, the leaf nutritional content varies in the plant’s development stages and there were differences between the fig varieties in the nutrient content at different development stages, which indicated that different varieties of plants need different amounts of nutrients during the growing cycle. These results should be taken into consideration when elaborating a fertilization program.

Opis:
The aim of the study was to determine the agricultural usefulness of the ashes obtained following the combustion of wood of fourteen tree species (pear tree, apple tree, aspen, ash, alder, birch, poplar, hornbeam, pine, common walnut, oak, hazel, bird cherry and spruce) in home fireplaces. The following physical properties of the ashes were determined: colour, solubility, porosity, absorbability, compression strength, degree of fineness, moisture content and spreadability. In the ashes obtained from the combustion of wood in a fireplace furnace, the following parameters were determined: pH H2O, pHKCl (1 mole dm-3 KCl), pHCaCl2 (0.01 mole dm-3 CaCl2) and total alkalinity in terms of the suitability of ashes as a liming agent. The contents of Ctot. and Ntot. were determined with a CHNS/O elemental analyser by Perkin-Elmer and the contents of other elements (macronutrients and heavy metals) were specified using the method of atomic emission spectrometry with inductively coupled plasma ICP-AES. Wood ashes are a source of macronutrients for plants. Their contents can be presented in the following series of decreasing values: Ca > C > K > Mg > P > S > N. Out of 1 t of wood ash, approx. 160 kg C, 6 kg N, 20 kg P, 98 kg K, 302 kg Ca, 39 kg Mg and 18 kg S can be introduced into the soil. The content of heavy metals in the analysed ashes was low, and exceeded the acceptable standards for their content in waste materials intended for liming soils. The analysed ashes exhibit good physical and chemical properties. They can be suitable for use in agriculture as a liming agent to be applied on medium and heavy soils.

Opis:
The aim of the study was to determine the effect of bottom sediment on the pH and content of available forms of P, K, Mg and aluminium exchangeable in the soil and on the yield of oats. The research was carried out in the Podlasie voivodship on very light soil. The material for the tests were samples of bottom sediment. In the experiment a bottom sediment from the breeding pond and soil was used. In the sediment bottom sediment sam-ple, the following parameters were determined: pH, heavy metal content (lead, cadmium, zinc, copper), as well as the content of aluminum, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium. The reaction of the bottom sediment was also determined. In soil samples, the content of exchangeable aluminium, available forms of phospho-rus, potassium, magnesium was determined and the soil reaction was determined. The obtained results confirmed the influence of bottom sedi-ment on reducing the content of exchangeable aluminium in the soil. The analyzes show that the soil after application of bottom sediment contained significantly less exchangeable aluminium. The sludge also influenced the increase of soil pH and the incre-ase of magnesium content in the soil. There was no influence of the use of bottom sediment on the content of available phospho-rus and potassium in the soil and on oat yield.
