Opis:
The article examines the Orthodox church music of Italian composers of the second half of the eighteenth century, who were invited to the capital of the Russian Empire for the post of first court bandmaster. The main duties of the Italian bandmasters were to compose secular music, especially operas for the court theater. The creation of choral concerts for the court choir that took part in church services with the participation of the first persons of the Russian Empire was not included in the contractual obligations. The main purpose of the appeal of Italian ban-dmasters to this area of creativity was to create a new church repertoire, which was closer in style to the European one. The domestic choir directors, brought up on the traditions of the old church singing art, did not cope with this task. The article contains an overview of the hand-written sources in which the sacred music of the Italian bandmasters was discovered.

The article is devoted to participatory musical works created in collaboration with the pub-lic. Listeners act as a composer’s creative partners – co-authors and performers. Comparative analysis of different interpretations of the concepts of “musical participation” and “partici-patory music” allows us to highlight the key characteristics of this phenomenon. In addition, the author believes that it is important to substantiate the legitimacy of using the term “partici-patory art” outside of any specific genre, stylistic, or time frames. The study of participatory works leads to understanding of the various tasks that are achie-ved in the process of collective creation. The interaction between the composer and the audien-ce strengthens interpersonal relationships. Listeners are meant to receive a role through which they could show their individuality most clearly; and this condition stimulates the search for new expressive means. As a result, peculiar genre forms emerge. At the same time, listeners comprehend the inner logic of musical art themselves. It is noted that composers retain the traditional genre classification, not deeming it ne-cessary to emphasize audience participation. However, compositions with the participation of the public are becoming a noticeable phenomenon of modern musical life. This generates a pressing challenge – to establish the correspondence of the techniques used in working with the audience to the artistic concept, and to propose a typology of participatory works. Some compositions emerge as an artistic experiment. Others are part of educational projects. Some works are aimed at studying the benefits of cooperation between the composer and the public. Along with the practices considered in the article, there are a number of prospective opportuni-ties that can ensure the fruitful involvement of the public in the creative process. All this allows us to hope that participatory musical art will enjoy further successful development

At the present stage of development of a society characterized by social instability, as an important factor in the effectiveness and harmony of the activity of the teacher, changes in thinking occur in correlation with changes in the motives of the teacher’s behavior and his value orientations. The predominance of positive motivation determines the style of the teacher’s behavior: he takes into account the objective conditions of activity to a greater extent, actively seeks a way out of difficult situations, adequately responds to failures, turns out to be more inventive in creating a program to achieve the goal.

The author traces the establishment and the subsequent development of music pedagogy education in musical drama institutes and musical colleges in the early 20th century Ukraine. In particular, the author evaluates the training system for music teachers, describes training institutions in the Ukraine, analyzes the curricula of teacher’s training departments of Kyiv, Kharkiv and Odessa musical drama institutes, and reviews the reorganization of the system of higher artistic education from the 1920’s to 1930’s. As a result of this reorganization, institutions offering majors in arts and music were divided into higher schools of music and art; institutes of music, drama and arts; comprehensive schools of music and art; and, colleges of music, drama and arts. The author reveals the goals set for the departments of early musical education in conservatories that were supposed to train highly qualified educators, specialists for different types of out-of-school activities (organization of concerts for children, management of musical work at children’s theatres and cinemas, organization of competitions etc.), and supervisors for teacher’s training at musical colleges.

The article is devoted to the musical life of Przemysl, which in the first half of the nineteenth century was the area of cultural borderland, where different cultural identities were constructed, particularly Ukrainian. In the Greek Catholic Church the singing school was established, and in 1829 the choir, headed by wellknown Czech composer Alois Nankе was formed. An example for Nankе and his students, among whom was the famous Ukrainian composer subsequently M. Verbitsky, were spiritual choral concerts of the famous Ukrainian composer D. Bortniansky. The music by Bortniansky became an excellent example of creativity for Ukrainian composers of the nineteenth century in Galicia.

This article discusses the importance of hosting the LvivMozArt Festival in Lviv (Ukraine). It is shown how within the short period of its existence (three years) the festival has tended to develop rapidly and received meaningful sponsorship. Attention is focused on its art director and founder, conductor Oksana Lyniv, who has set herself the goal of organizing a classic festival with non-standard formats, but with a high-quality performance of classical music. It is noted that a distinctive feature of the LvivMozArt festival is the combination of different formats: live art performance, academic symposium, chamber and symphony concerts, and opera. This article analyzes the literary bias of the academic symposium entitled “Literary Impressions in Music”, which was attended by prominent scholars from Ukraine, Austria, Germany and Poland. It is argued that the biggest event of the festival was its opening. The concert was dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of the Austrian writer Joseph Roth and the memory of the Holocaust victims.

This article examines the connections of the outstanding Ukrainian composer Boris Lyato-shinsky with Polish culture of the 20th century. These connections can be traced at the genetic level and in the context of his music from the 1950s and 1960s. It is argued that the Polish theme forms a kind of supercycle in the composer’s work, which symbolizes the memory of culture and unites a number of his works with Polish themes. These include the piano “Slavic Concerto” by B.Lyatoshinsky, the symphonic poems “Grazhina” and “On the Banks of the Vistula,” and the “Polish Suite” for a symphony orchestra. This supercycle is associated with the “memorial” genre, which actualizes the “memory” mechanism. In this case, we are talking about the “Polish memory” of B. Lyatoszynski, a characteristic feature of which is the connec-tion with the Polish musical culture, which is present in his works at the intonation, genre, and conceptual level.

accumulating intellectual potential in the field of “memory studies”. Modern discourse of "memory" is the sphere of intersection of scientific interests of history, sociology, psychology, art studies, political science etc. This discourse has formed a truly new paradigm of knowledge with its conceptual-categorical apparatus (“memory masks”, “memory landscape”, “memory space” etc.). The memory space is heterogeneous, and its comprehension is similar to nonlinear reading of a certain hypertext. This process, as a rule, focuses on certain objects – “places of memory”, indicative in one sense or another. The vector of the proposed considerations is generated by the desire to reconstruct the multicultural landscape of the musical-historical memory of Lviv – the third in Europe after Salzburg and Vienna Mozart Center. The main focus is on the expressive topography of this landscape, the “place of memory”, which collected within its historical coordinates the musical experience of the fruitful cooperation of musicians of European glory (J. Elsner, F. K. Mozart, J. Rukgaber, K. Mikuly, K. Lipinsky, S. Lyudkevich, V. Barvinsky etc.), representatives of various national cultures – the history of the oldest Ukrainian higher educational institution - the Lviv M. Lysenko National Academy of Music.

Professional academic music occupies a special place in the system of culture. The composer’s cultural activity is designed to expand the artistic and aesthetic horizons of public consciousness and to influence the formation of worldviews. In particular, the elite musical culture not only fills the deficit of self-worth of creativity, the spiritual growth of the individual, but also assumes the function of breaking stereotypes. The ideas of dialogue and integration of mass and elite cultures are both negative and positive. On the example of cultural missions of Vladimir Guba and Svyatoslav Krutikov, prominent representatives of Ukrainian culture, members of the group "Kyiv avant-garde" we will outline the influence of elite musical culture on the reconstruction of anthropocentric values.

Artykuł stanowi próbę odczytania wstecz historii pożądania uosobionej w micie Don Juana, a więc wyznaczenia takiej perspektywy, która umożliwia interpretację dwudziestowiecznej rewolucji seksualnej poprzez ukazanie jej historycznych i archetypicznych wzorów.
This article is an attempt to read the history of courtly love backwards, thus setting a perspective that enables the interpretation of the contemporary sexual revolution by revealing its historical and archetypal patterns. It presents the hybrid relationships linking operatic “archaicness” with film, philosophy, and music in their contemporary artistic forms. The central argument is that the widespread phenomenon of aestheticization of life is based on the illusion that one is able to achieve absolute fulfillment in a transient world. The myth of Don Juan embodies this very dimension of modernity, which gives the aesthetic (sensual) the rank of the absolute, while numerous artistic actualizations of this myth confirm that the Western European imaginarium has its affective substrate in the form of desire, which is impossible to satisfy.
