Systemy trzeciej generacji stanowią kolejny etap ewolucji łączności ruchomej, przed którą stawia się coraz większe wymagania dotyczące szybkości transmisji, zasięgu oraz jakości świadczonych usług. Aby sprostać tym wymaganiom, w systemach trzeciej generacji wykorzystane zostaną najnowocześniejsze techniki transmisji danych. Najbardziej obiecującym rozwiązaniem są układy wieloantenowe MIMO, opisane w niniejszym artykule. W artykule przedstawiono porównanie wyników analizy symulacyjnej systemów 3G z układami MIMO dla kanału Rayleigh z zaczerpniętymi z literatury wynikami badań eksperymentalnych. Praca prezentuje możliwość zwiększenia szybkości transmisji w systemach trzeciej generacji na drodze poprawy współczynnika wykorzystania pasma.
The third generation systems being a next step of evolution of mobile communication face still growing demand for throughput, coverage and quality of service. To fulfill this demand the newest data transmission technologies have to be used in 3G systems. The most promising solution are MIMO multiple antennas, described in present paper. The paper compares simulation and experimental results for MIMO antennas. Experimental results are taken from the literature. The increase of throughput for the third generation systems due to improvement of spectral efficiency factor is presented in this work.

Opis:
Wireless sensor networks are typically operated on batteries. Therefore, in order to prolong network lifetime, an energy efficient routing algorithm is required. In this paper, an energy-aware routing protocol for the co-operative MIMO scheme in WSNs (EARPC) is presented. It is based on an improved cluster head selection method that considers the remaining energy level of a node and recent energy consumption of all nodes. This means that sensor nodes with lower energy levels are less likely to be chosen as cluster heads. Next, based on the cooperative node selection in each cluster, a virtual MIMO array is created, reducing uneven distribution of clusters. Simulation results show that the proposed routing protocol may reduce energy consumption and improve network lifetime compared with the LEACH protocol.

The paper presents an adaptive multivariable control system for a Multi-Input, Multi-Output (MIMO) nonlinear dynamic process. The problems under study are exemplified by a synthesis of a course angle and forward speed control system for the nonlinear four-Degrees-of-Freedom (4-DoF) mathematical model of a single-screw, high-speed container ship. The paper presents the complexity of the assumed model to be analyzed and a synthesis method for the multivariable adaptive modal controller. Due to a strongly nonlinear nature of the ship movements equations a multivariable adaptive controller is tuned in relation to changeable hydrodynamic operating conditions of the ship. In accordance with the given operating conditions controller parameters are chosen on the basis of four measured auxiliary signals. The system synthesis is carried out by linearization of the nonlinear model of the ship at its nominal operating points in the steady-state and by means of a pole placement control method. The final part of the paper includes results of simulation tests of the proposed control system carried out in the MATLAB/Simulink environment along with conclusions and final remarks.

The paper presents a simulation model of the radio frequency MIMO-OFDM system. The simulation model was made in Matlab Simulink environment. It contains the transmitter, the receiver and the telecommunication channel models. The telecommunication channel model consists of models used during development of technical documentation of IEEE 802.11n. Signals generated at the transmitter output are fully compatible with signals described in IEEE 802.11n [1]. Simulations are conducted on a radio frequency, so they can be compared with results of measurements of real systems.

IEEE 802.11ac is the newest Wi-Fi standard, which is working only in 5 GHz radio band. This standard improves and extends 802.11n functionality, i.e. it has more channel bonding, denser constellation (modulation levels) and more spatial streams. Th e new features, introduced in 802.11ac, like multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) functionality, standards-based beamforming, RTS/CTS with bandwidth indication and longer aggregated frame are making it very useful in corporate wireless networks. In the article the author analyses the new Wi-Fi features from the point of view of corporate computer network demands.
IEEE 802.11ac jest najnowszym standardem Wi-Fi, który pracuje tylko w paśmie fal radiowych o częstotliwości 5 GHz. Standard ten doskonali i rozszerza funkcjonalność standardu 802.11n, tzn. ma więcej łączenia kanałów (ang. channel bonding), gęstszą konfigurację (więcej poziomów modulacji) i więcej strumieni przestrzennych. Nowe cechy, wprowadzone w 802.11ac, takie jak funkcjonalność MIMO dla wielu użytkowników naraz (MU-MIMO), tworzenie strumieni opartych na standardzie, RTS/CTS ze wskazaniem szerokości pasma i dłuższa struktura zagregowana czynią go bardzo użytecznym w fi rmowych sieciach bezprzewodowych. W artykule autorka analizuje nowe cechy Wi-Fi z punktu widzenia wymagań firmowych sieci komputerowych.

In this paper, a computer simulation of a MIMO system comprising phased array antennas (PAA) in all receiving branches is presented. In order to examine the system performance under relatively realistic conditions, a ray-tracing simulator was applied to generate a baseband channel impulse response matrix H. A bit error rate (BER) of two systems utilizing different detection methods: V-BLAST and simple matrix inversion was examined in order to determine phased array antennas applicability. Results of an attempt to determine relationship between BER and properties of particular matrix H realization are also provided.

Results of computer simulation tests of the STBC Alamouti MIMO 2×2 system in comparison to SISO were presented in this paper. The aim was to assess effectiveness of MIMO versus SISO in assumed propagation conditions. Depending on subscriber motion, propagation conditions as well as antenna system configuration, different results were received. In each configuration, MIMO system was not worse than SISO and many times it is significantly better than SISO with gain from a few to a dozen or so dB.
W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki symulacji komputerowej systemu wieloantenowego MIMO 2×2 (ang. Multiple Input Multiple Output) z koderem STBC (ang. Space Time Block Coding) Alamoutiego w porównaniu do systemu SISO (ang. Single Input Single Output). Celem badania było określenie stopnia efektywności układu MIMO zależnie od prędkości i kierunku ruchu korespondenta, warunków propagacji oraz konfiguracji anten. Zależnie od założeń symulacyjnych uzyskano wyniki potwierdzające przewagę MIMO nad SISO w zakresie od kilku do kilkunastu dB.

A robot manipulator is a multi-articulated mechanical system, in which each articulation is driven individually by an electric actuator. As the most used robot in industrial application, this system needs an efficient control strategy such as the classical PID control law by means of which each articulation is controlled independently. This kind of control presents a lot of inconvenient, such as error of each articulation isn’t taken account into others. In this work we present a Multi Input Multi Output (MIMO) PID controller to ensure the articulation robot control strategy, the results obtained present satisfactory and shows clearly the efficiency of the present PID-MIMO controller.

Optical fiber sensors have reached a high state of maturity. Besides the high number of sensor groups, multi-mode fiber evanescent field sensors can be found in a lot of applications. Here, the signal source commonly excites many optical modes under steady-state conditions. Perturbations of the fiber then produce leaky modes. Thus, a simple intensity detector measures the degree of perturbation. In some cases also restricted mode launching conditions have been applied. They resulted in higher sensitivity but showed a narrower measurement range. Considering the individual modes as carriers of information we adapted multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) signal processing which is well studied in the telecommunications community, for improvements on both the sensor sensitivity and its measurement range. In this paper MIMO signal processing is investigated for fiber optic sensor applications. A (2x2) MIMO implementation is realized by using lower-order and higher-order mode groups of a gradient-index multi-mode fiber as separate transmission channels. A micro-bending pressure sensor changes these separate transmission characteristics and introduces additional crosstalk. By observing the layer specific weight-factors of the MIMO system the amount of load applied was determined. Experiments verified a good correlation between the change of the MIMO weight coefficients and the load applied to the sensor and thus verified that MIMO signal processing can beneficially be used for fiber optic sensor applications. The experimental results also verified the superior sensitivity and measurement range when MIMO signal processing is utilized.
Czujniki światłowodowe osiągnęły wysoki stan dojrzałości technologicznej. Wśród dużej liczby typów czujników, wiele zastosowań znajdują wielomodowe czujniki zanikającego pola. Najczęściej w tych czujnikach źródło promieniowania w stanie ustalonym wzbudza wiele modów. Zaburzenia we włóknie powodują powstanie modów wyciekających. Tak więc, prosty czujnik natężenia mierzy stopień zaburzenia. W pewnych przypadkach zastosowano ograniczenia wzbudzania modów. Spowodowało to wzrost czułości lecz jednocześnie ograniczyło zakres pomiarowy. W celu poprawienia zarówno czułości, jak i zakresu pomiarowego, zastosowana została dobrze znana w telekomunikacji technika przetwarzania sygnałów MIMO (wiele wejść wiele wyjść) traktująca poszczególne mody jako nośniki informacji. W artykule opisano badania nad zastosowaniem techniki przetwarzania sygnałów MIMO do czujników światłowodowych. Implementacja MIMO (2x2) została zrealizowana poprzez podział modów w gradientowym światłowodzie wielomodowym na grupę wyższego i niższego rzędu i użyciu ich jako dwa osobne kanały transmisyjne. W czujniku mikrozgięciowym nacisk zmienia charakterystyki transmisyjne tych kanałów wprowadzając dodatkowy przesłuch. Poprzez obserwację konkretnych współczynników równań MIMO można wyznaczyć wartość nacisku. Doświadczenia potwierdziły dobrą korelację między zmianami współczynników wagowych MIMO i obciążenia czujnika, a więc potwierdziły, że przetwarzanie sygnału MIMO może być z korzyścią wykorzystywane w czujnikach światłowodowych. Wyniki doświadczalne potwierdziły również doskonałą czułość i zakres pomiarowy przy wykorzystaniu przetwarzania sygnału MIMO.

This paper introduce a transient model of the propane heat pump cycle. The heat pump cycle model includes: a compressor model, a condenser model in lumped parameters, an evaporator model in lumped parameters, an expansion valve model, a heat source model (cooling chamber), a PID control system for heat recovery from superheated refrigerant vapour. The model allows estimate inertia of the heat pump cycle with the system of the heat recovery from superheated propane vapor. The presented theoretical model can determine unsteady and steady state conditions of the different subsystems in the heat pump cycle (condenser, evaporator, compressor). The article presents the results of calculations and determines the time of reaching steady states of the key systems of the heat pump system. The article also presents (in a graphical form) the behavior of the system where the setting was changed after reaching the steady state after 2000s from 50kW to 40kW at the thermal load of the additional heat recovery exchanger.

Opis:
Designing a tracking control system for an over-actuated dynamic positioning marine vessel in the case of insufficient information on environmental disturbances, hydrodynamic damping, Coriolis forces and vessel inertia characteristics is considered. The designed adaptive MIMO backstepping control law with control allocation is based on Lyapunov control theory for cascaded systems to guarantee stabilization of the marine vessel position and heading. Forces and torque computed from the adaptive control law are allocated to individual thrusters by employing the quadratic programming method in combination with the cascaded generalized inverse algorithm, the weighted least squares algorithm and the minimal least squares algorithm. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is demonstrated by simulations involving a redundant set of actuators. The evaluation criteria include energy consumption, robustness, as well accuracy of tracking during typical vessel operation.

This paper proposes an adaptive pilot pattern to improve channel estimation performance for LTE downlink system with high mobility. The downlink pilot positions are predefined in the time and frequency domain with fixed pilot pattern in LTE standard. However, that pilot structure is not efficient in a fast time varying channel, and leads to a decrease of channel estimation performance. The authors propose and evaluate the performance of LTE downlink channel estimation using an adaptive pilot scheme to optimally use pilot tones over time varying channels. It is shown that only seven bits of additional wide-band feedback per frame and per user are required to optimally support adaptive pilot pattern. Simulation results show that the proposed method allows high performance in terms of throughput and channel estimation error. This analysis shows that LTE downlink throughput could be increased over 4%.

Spectral efficiency of incoherent optical MIMO systems is investigated. It is proved that under the best conditions (no channel crosstalk at the receiver) incoherent optical MIMO transmission gives potentially a better spectral efficiency than single channel transmission above a certain value of SNR in a single channel system, which varies from 9 dB for 2×2 MIMO to 12.3 dB for 4×4 MIMO. However, in practical optical 2×2 MIMO transmission, this border value of SNR is much higher and is around 25–30 dB.

Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems will play an important role in future generations of wireless networks. Space-time block code (STBC) and space-time trellis code (STTC) are two techniques that may be used in multi-antenna radio systems. This paper aims, most importantly, to study the performance of STBC systems at different values of such parameters as spectral efficiency, matrix codes and constellations. A performance comparison between STBC and STTC schemes is performed. In order to show the efficiency of the system’s ability to communicate with uncoded and coded transmission structures over AWGN and Rayleigh channels, the trellis-coded modulation (TCM) is introduced. The results obtained show that the proposed TCM-STBC system model, using one and two receiving antennas, improves the performance of Rayleigh channel communication systems at 9.5 dB and 11.5 dB for a BER of 10−5.

Do opracowania projektu łącza radiowego w układzie punkt – punkt wykorzystano oprogramowanie Alphimax PTP Estimator oraz oprogramowanie Ligowave Link Calculator. W wyniku przeprowadzonych obliczeń projektowych wyznaczono przekrój pionowy trasy łącza, który uwzględnia elementy pokrycia terenu i określono parametry jej przejrzystości. Następnie proces projektowania łącza uzupełniono o obliczenia bilansu energetycznego, a następnie zakończono raportem z propozycjami doboru sprzętu aktywnego i anten łącznie z analizą dostępności i wydajności łącza. W celu przeprowadzenie doświadczalnej weryfikacji obliczeń projektowych zrealizowano środowisko testowe z zastosowaniem sprzętu dobranego zgodnie z wynikami procedury projektowej. W artykule porównano wyniki projektów uzyskanych z wykorzystaniem obu pakietów programowych oraz zweryfikowano wyniki symulacji z wynikami badań łącza w rzeczywistych warunkach terenowych.
The following paper discusses the feasibility of the project radio link system in harsh propagation environment with much obscured of the first order Fresnel zone. For the calculations the Alphimax PTP and the Ligowave Estimator Calculator Link applications, are used . As a result of the simulation is set the path profile between sites of the radio link with the parameters of transparency. Then, there are obtained the calculations of the energy budget and there is presented the report with proposals for the selection of active equipment. In order to carry out the experimental verification of the design calculations, radio nodes were installed using the equipment selected in accordance with the results of the design process. The results obtained from the use both packages are compared. Also the simulation results with the field tests of radio transmission are verified.

MIMO technology has become very popular in a wireless communication system because of the many advantages of multiple antennas at the transmitting end and receiving end. The main advantages of MIMO systems are higher data rate and higher reliability without the need of extra power and bandwidth. The MIMO system provides higher data rate by using spatial multiplexing technique and higher reliability by using diversity technique. The MIMO systems have not only advantages, but also have disadvantages. The main disadvantage of MIMO system is that the multiple antennas required extra high cost RF modules. The extra RF modules increase the cost of wireless communication systems. In this research, the antenna selection techniques are proposed to minimize the cost of MIMO systems. Furthermore, this research also presents techniques for antenna selection to enhance the capacity of channel in MIMO systems.

Energy Efficiency (EE) is becoming increasingly important for wireless communications and has caught more attention due to steadily rising energy costs and environmental concerns. Recently, a new network architecture known as Massive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) has been proposed with the remarkable potential to achieve huge gains in EE with simple linear processing. In this paper, a power allocation algorithm is proposed for EE to achieve the optimal EE in Massive MIMO. Based on the simplified expression, we develop a new algorithm to compute the optimal power allocation algorithm and it has been compared with the existing scheme from the previous literature. An improved water filling algorithm is proposed and embedded in the power allocation algorithm to maximize EE and Spectral Efficiency (SE). The numerical analysis of the simulation results indicates an improvement of 40% in EE and 50% in SE at the downlink transmission, compared to the other existing schemes. Furthermore, the results revealed that SE does not influence the EE enhancement after using the proposed algorithm as the number of Massive MIMO antenna at the Base Station (BS) increases.

W referacie poruszono problemy związane z ograniczeniem wpływu zaników na sygnały radiowe w systemach MIMO . Wskazano na zjawiska niekorzystne takie jak: korelacja miedzykanałowa, efekt nieredukowalnej stopy błędów (floor effect) występujące przy stosowaniu systemów o dywersyfikacji przestrzennej. Zamieszczono wyniki badań symulacyjnych dotyczących stosowanych algorytmów odbioru typu: ZF, ML, MMSE, MMST.
The article analyses problems of influence of faiding over ICT systems (wireless communication, mainly- MIMO . The models of channel under Rayleigh and Nakagami faiding conditions is studied in detail. The recived’s algorithms as ZF, ML, MMSE, MLST are considered over adaptation MIMO 2x2, 2x3 systems. The results of the analysis are encouraging.

The designing of transmultiplexer systems relies on determining filters for the transmitter and receiver sides of multicarrier communication system. The perfect reconstruction conditions lead to the bilinear equations for FIR filter coefficients. Generally there is no way of finding all possible solutions. This paper describes methods of finding a large family of solutions. Particular attention is devoted to obtaining algorithms useful in fixed-point arithmetic needed to design the integer filters. As a result, the systems perform perfect reconstruction of signals. Additionally, a simple method is presented to transform any transmultiplexer into an unlimited number of different transmultiplexers. Finally, two examples of integer filters that meet perfect reconstruction conditions are shown. The first illustrates a FIR filter which does not require multiplications. The frequency properties of filters and signals are discussed for the second example.

The breadth first signal decoder (BSIDE) is well known for its optimal maximum likelihood (ML) performance with lesser complexity. In this paper, we analyze a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) detection scheme that combines; column norm based ordering minimum mean square error (MMSE) and BSIDE detection methods. The investigation is carried out with a breadth first tree traversal technique, where the computational complexity encountered at the lower layers of the tree is high. This can be eliminated by carrying detection in the lower half of the tree structure using MMSE and upper half using BSIDE, after rearranging the column of the channel using norm calculation. The simulation results show that this approach achieves 22% of complexity reduction for 2x2 and 50% for 4x4 MIMO systems without any degradation in the performance.

Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems will play an important role in future generations of wireless networks. Space-time block code (STBC) and space-time trellis code (STTC) are two techniques that may be used in multi-antenna radio systems. This paper aims, most importantly, to study the performance of STBC systems at different values of such parameters as spectral efficiency, matrix codes and constellations. A performance comparison between STBC and STTC schemes is performed. In order to show the efficiency of the system’s ability to communicate with uncoded and coded transmission structures over AWGN and Rayleigh channels, the trellis-coded modulation (TCM) is introduced. The results obtained show that the proposed TCM-STBC system model, using one and two receiving antennas, improves the performance of Rayleigh channel communication systems at 9.5 dB and 11.5 dB for a BER of 10−5.

Opis:
Applying orthogonal space time block coding (OSTBC) to multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems helps reduce receiver complexity. However, this approach has been applied only to flat fading channels, as when the channel is a frequency selective fading MIMO channel, OSTBC cannot be used directly since its orthogonal propriety may be lost. Furthermore, the MIMO channel is not always known. To deal with this problem, many techniques were proposed to estimate the channel using a training sequence. Unfortunately, these techniques reduce the useful spectral bandwidth. This paper proposes OSTBC for blind channel estimation and data detection in the case of a MIMO frequency selective channel. The aim of this new OSTBC is twofold: to solve the ambiguity of channel estimation and to reduce the complexity of the detector. By exploiting the well-known technique of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), the frequency selective fading MIMO channel is split into a set of flat fading subchannels. Moreover, to accommodate the fact that a MIMO channel can be time varying, the steady state Kalman channel estimator (SS-KCE) is extended to track the channel’s fast variations. The performance of the proposed blind algorithm is related by the adequate choice of the number of subcarriers and it is compared with other existing approaches by means of Monte Carlo simulations.

Multiple input multiple output power line communication is presented with its major characteristics and models. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing modulation scheme applied to power line channel model is presented, also, combination of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing with MIMO Alamouti space time block codes to improve reliability and data rate performance of the system is done. The evaluation of the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing-PLC system over power line communication channel is performed. The comparison between simple PLC and MIMO-PLC systems based upon achieved data rates and reliability in terms of bit error rate is presented.

In this contribution, a control scheme based on multi input multi output Fuzzy Sliding Mode control (MIMOFSMC) for linear speed regulation of multi-motors system is proposed. Once the decoupled model of the multi- motors system is obtained, a smooth control function with a threshold was chosen to indicate how far the state from to the sliding surface is. However, the magnitude of this control function depends closely on the upper bound of uncertainties, and this generates chattering. So, this magnitude has to be chosen with great care to obtain high performances. Usually the upper bound of uncertainties is difficult to known before motor operation, so, a Fuzzy Sliding Mode controller is investigated to solve this difficulty; a simple Fuzzy inference mechanism is used to reduce the chattering phenomenon by simple adjustments. A simulation study is carried out and shows that the proposed controller has great potential for use as an alternative to the conventional sliding mode contro.

On fifth-generation wireless networks, a potential massive MIMO system is used to meet the ever-increasing request for high-traffic data rates, high-resolution streaming media, and cognitive communication. In order to boost the trade-off between energy efficiency (EE), spectral efficiency (SE), and throughput in wireless 5G networks, massive MIMO systems are essential. This paper proposes a strategy for EE 5G optimization utilizing massive MIMO technology. The massive MIMO system architecture would enhance the trade-off between throughput and EE at the optimum number of working antennas. Moreover, the EE-SE tradeoff is adjusted for downlink and uplink massive MIMO systems employing linear precoding techniques such as Multiple -Minimum Mean Square Error (M-MMSE), Regularized Zero Forcing (RZF), Zero Forcing (ZF), and Maximum Ratio (MR). Throughput is increased by adding more antennas at the optimum EE, according to the analysis of simulation findings. Next, utilizing M MMSE instead of RZF and ZF, the suggested trading strategy is enhanced and optimized. The results indicate that M-MMSE provides the best tradeoff between EE and throughput at the determined optimal ratio between active antennas and active users equipment’s (UE).

Traditional radio communication has gained significantly from using multiple input and multiple output (MIMO) architecture in the system. Many wireless applications, such as wireless LAN and cellular network, have adopted this technology to improve their system performance. However, the effect of MIMO systems has not been investigated in the case of inductive near field short range communications. The purpose of this paper is to explore a new method for increasing the magnetic communication range using MIMO. Three system models includingMISO, SIMO and MIMO are proposed to characterize the number of transmitters and receivers to the link. These models have helped to extend not only the range but also the communication channel in NFMIC.

In the paper a proposal for the improvement of performance for the TETRA Enhanced Data System (TEDS) employing transmit diversity based on two antennas in the downlink is described. The key idea of the considerations relies on using the space-frequency coding algorithm. The proposal described required some relatively simple changes to the existing TEDS’s Single Input Single Output (SISO) interface but the original number of payload and signaling symbols in the normal downlink burst is preserved. The simulation results obtained indicate a significant improvement in performance. The Eb/No parameter could be reduced from 5 to 8 dB with respect to Frame Error Rate (FER), compared to a single antenna transmission for the same FER = 10−3.

This article presents a MIMO compact antenna measuring 45×45×1.6 mm, on the FR4 substrate, proposed for Ka band and 5G communication applications. The proposed design is suitable to overcome the issues connected with massive MIMO. It has four-sigma-shaped radiating elements and a c-shaped ground plane with coplanar waveguide feeding. Its compact dimensions suit it for most existing communications systems. The aerial operates in the 21–30 GHz range, which covers Ka and 5G communication bands. The proposed antenna exhibits the average efficiency of more than 76% within its operating band and gives a minimum signal to noise plus interference ratio. The presented antenna covers several services, such as Ka band satellite downlink applications and future 5G communication applications.

In today’s fast-paced world, where everyone/everything is moving towards an online platform, the need to provide high-speed data to all is inevitable. Hence, introducing the emerging 5G technology with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing integrated with massive MIMO technology is the need of the hour. A 640 port Massive MIMO (m-MIMO) antenna with high evenly spread gain and very low delay, along with a practically possible data rate operating in the mm waveband, is proposed for a 5G base station. The individual antenna element consists of a dipole (λ=0.5cm) designed to operate at 57GHz. Placing the cylindrical MIMO antenna array (8x20) facing the four directions forming the m-MIMO antenna (160x4) at the height of 3m from ground level for simulation. Achievement of a maximum gain of 23.14dBi (θ=90▫) and a minimum data rate of 1.44Gbps with -10dB bandwidth of 2.1GHz (256-QAM) approximately a distance of 478m from the 5G Base station. The m-MIMO structure gives an Envelope Correlation Coefficient of 0.015. The propagation analysis is carried out to substantiate the performance of the proposed system based on field strength and received power. Network Analysis for better reception performance is carried out by changing the antenna height placement, altering the down tilt of the antenna array, and sweeping the polarization angle of the antenna array.

Hybrid precoding techniques are lately involved a lot of interest for millimeter-wave (mmWave) massive MIMO systems is due to the cost and power consumption advantages they provide. However, existing hybrid precoding based on the singular value decomposition (SVD) necessitates a difficult bit allocation to fit the varying signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) of altered sub-channels. In this paper, we propose a generalized triangular decomposition (GTD)-based hybrid precoding to avoid the complicated bit allocation. The development of analog and digital precoders is the reason for the high level of design complexity in analog precoder architecture, which is based on the OMP algorithm, is very non-convex, and so has a high level of complexity. As a result, we suggest using the GTD method to construct hybrid precoding for mmWave mMIMO systems. Simulated studies as various system configurations are used to examine the proposed design. In addition, the archived findings are compared to a hybrid precoding approach in the classic OMP algorithm. The proposed Matrix Decomposition’s simulation results of signal-to-noise ratio vs spectral efficiencies.

Opis:
The Non Line of Sight (NLOS) broadband wireless access provided by Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) operating in 2-11 GHz frequency is susceptible to the effects of multipath propagation, diffraction fading, vegetation attenuation, shadowing loss etc. In order to overcome these effects effective fade mitigation techniques, have to be implemented. The Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing- Multiple Input Multiple Output (OFDM-MIMO) is an efficient method that helps in combatting the fading and providing higher SNR to the WiMAX system. According to the IEEE 802.16 specification, for QPSK modulation, a threshold SNR of 6 dB is required for the link to operate. In the present work the use of OFDM-MIMO achieves a SNR above this operating threshold.

In this study, a ResNeSt-based deep learning approach to beamforming for 5G massive multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) systems is presented. The ResNeSt-based deep learning method is harnessed to simplify and optimize the beamforming process, consequently improving performance and efficiency of 5G and beyond communication networks. A study of beamforming capabilities has revealed potential to maximize channel capacity while minimizing interference, thus eliminating inherent limitations of the traditional methods. The proposed model shows superior adaptability to dynamic channel conditions and outperforms traditional techniques across various interference scenarios.

Being a crucial aspect of fifth-generation (5G) mobile communications systems, massively multiple-input multipleoutput (mMIMO) architectures are expected to help achieve the highest key performance indicators. However, the huge numbers of antennas used in such systems make it difficult to determine the inversion of the signal channel matrix relied upon by several detection methods, hence posing a problem with accurate estimation of the symbols sent. In this paper, conjugate gradient (CG) and successive over-relaxation (SOR) methods are selected to construct a new iterative approach that avoids the matrix inversion computation issue. This suggested approach for uplink mMIMO detection is based on a joint cascade structure of both iterative methods. The CG method is first applied and adjusted for the initial solution, followed by the SOR method in the final iterations for terminal computations, resulting in an algorithm with robust performance and low computational complexity. Furthermore, the new hybrid scheme operates based on the relaxation parameter, whose value has a great impact on error performance and, whose optimal determination is necessary. Numerical simulations reveal that the proposed scheme is capable of significantly improving signal detection accuracy with minimum complexity. The simulation results indicated that the proposed detector outperforms CG and SOR detectors, achieves close to optimal performance, requires fewer iterations, and reduces complexity.

In this article, a hybrid circularly polarized Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) antenna for multi-band operation from 2.3 to 9.2 GHz with an impedance bandwidth of 7 GHz is proposed and investigated experimentally. The designed MIMO antenna model has a compact size of 20mm×40mm×1.6mm on the FR-4 substrate. The microstrip feed of the proposed slot antenna consists of a tapered structure, and the radiating element consists of the inverted L- shaped slots, which were opened on both sides of the radiating elements to introduce notches at the sub-6 GHz frequencies. L-shaped stubs are also introduced on another side of the substrate in the common ground plane to attain high isolation between the radiating elements of the proposed antenna. In the operating band from 2.3 to 9.2 GHz, isolation of less than -20 dB is achieved by the proposed model. The performance of the circularly polarized MIMO antenna in terms of RHCP and LHCP radiation patterns, axial ratio, surface current distributions, isolation between the ports, diversity gain (DG), envelope correlation coefficient (ECC), total active reflection coefficient (TARC), and peak gain are studied and presented in this work. The obtained characteristics of the proposed antenna make it suitable for sub-6-GHz frequency applications.

Due to the multifold growth in demands of multimedia services and mobile data, the request for increased channel capacity in mobile and wireless communication has been quickly increasing. Developing a wireless system with more spectral efficiency under varying channel condition is a key challenge to provide more bit rates with limited spectrum. Multiple Input Multiple Output(MIMO) system with Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) gives higher gain by using the direct and the reflected signals, thus facilitating the transmission at high data rate. An integration of Spatial Modulation (SM) with OFDM (SM OFDM) is a newly evolved transmission technique and has been suggested as a replacement for MIMO -OFDM transmission. In practical scenarios, channel estimation is significant for detecting transmitted data coherently. This paper proposes pilot based, Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) channel estimation for the SM OFDM communication system. We have focused on analyzing Symbol Error Rate (SER) and Mean Square error (MSE) under Rayleigh channel employing International Telecommunication Union (ITU) specified Vehicular model of Pilot based MMSE channel estimator using windowed Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) and MMSE weighting function. Simulation output shows that proposed estimator’s SER performance lies close to that of the MMSE optimal estimator in minimizing aliasing error and suppressing channel noise by using frequency domain data windowing and time domain weighting function. Usage of the Hanning window eliminates error floor and has a compact side lobe level compared to Hamming window and Rectangular window. Hanning window has a larger MSE at low Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) values and decreases with high SNR values. It is concluded that data windowing technique can minimize the side lobe level and accordingly minimize channel estimation error when interpolation is done. MMSE weighting suppresses channel noise and improves estimation performance. Since Inverse Discrete Fourier Transform(IDFT)/DFT transforms can be implemented with fast algorithms Inverse Fast Fourier Transform( IFFT)/Fast Fourier Transform(FFT) computational complexity can be remarkably reduced.

In this paper we have described a new design algorithm for the whole set of latent-structure assignments via the approaches of block structure of λ-matrices placement. The procedure that has been developed is based on decoupling of the interactions between control loops in a multivariable plant. The procedure is performed using matrix polynomial solvent reconstruction for the decoupling purposes. However, for the design of the trajectory tracking controller, each input-output pair is treated respectively by designing SISO controllers. A second procedure is the MIMO PID compensator design via the model-matching method. This latter algorithm has been developed in order to avoid the internal or the hidden instability, which may occur in the first method, due to the block zeros - block poles cancellation.

This paper presents the design of digital controller for longitudinal aircraft model basedon the Dynamic Contraction Method. The control task is formulated as a tracking problem of velocity and flight path angle, where decoupled output transients are accomplished in spite of incomplete information about varying parameters of the system and external disturbances. The design of digital controller based on the pseudo-continuous approach is presented, where the digital controller is the result of continuous-time controller discretization. A resulting output feedback controller has a simple form of a combination of low-order linear dynamical systems and a matrix whose entries depend nonlinearly on certain known process variables. Simulation results for an aircraft model confirm theoretical expectations.

Przedstawiono sposób syntezy takich sygnałów wejściowych dla obiektów typu MIMO, tak liniowych jak i nieliniowych, które umożliwiają dokładne skalowanie czasowe sygnałów na wyjściach tych obiektów. Rozważono implementację algorytmów skalowania w ramach typowej struktury MFC dla układów MIMO. Wskazano na zalety algorytmów sterowania opartych o skalowanie czasowe, tak w dziedzinie czasu, jak i w dziedzinie częstotliwości. Rozważania zilustrowano przykładami.
The idea of time-scaling of output signals of linear and nonlinear MIMO plants has been presented. The proposed method of perfect scaling can be applied, if so-called V-model of MIMO plant can be determined and SISO components of this model can be scaled separately by equipping them with input and feedback correctors "supplied" with associated state variables. It has been shown that control algorithms based on the idea of time-scaling can be implemented by using the typical Model Following Control structure for MIMO plants. The considerations are illustrated with examples.

The possibility of using MIMO (multiple input multiple output) technique, which is well-known from radio communications, has been experimentally shown at the optical domain. A successful 2-channel transmission beyond the baseband of 4.4 km long OM2 grade 50 μm core multimode (MM) fiber has been demonstrated. Total throughput of 400 Mbit/s has been obtained. Incoherent detection of the light signals at the receiver has been used.

Two models of the Alamouti multiple input – multiple output (MIMO) system have been formed: the analytical and simulation one. The first model is simple and it reflects the quasi-static Rayleigh fading phenomena, while the second one is advanced and it expresses the fast fading effects. The results of analysis and simulations show that the Alamouti MIMO architecture significantly over performs the SISO systems (the SNR gain ~20 dB), but mainly within the quasi-static environment. In mobile conditions this gain and/or the overall system capacity under go a sharp decline.
W referacie poddano eksperymentom symulacyjnym dwa modele MIMO Almaoutiego. Model funkcjonujący w warunkach quasi-statycznych zaników Rayleigha oraz w warunkach zaników szybkich Nakagami’ego. Dokonano oszacowania jaki jest rzeczywisty zysk zastosowania MIMO względem systemu jednokanałowego SISO. W modelowaniu wykorzystano Metodę Monte Carlo.

The paper presents results of comparative analysis of the control system introducing dynamic decoupling and the robust two-degrees of freedom control system with the use of the decoupled model of the MIMO process. The model loop of the MFC is designed with the use of dynamic decoupling algorithm. The correcting controller in the secondary loop uses the control law based on the knowledge of difference between the model and the process outputs. It is a static diagonal matrix. Presented comparative results from the tracking processes of yaw angle and position of the drillship point the possibility to introduce the MFC scheme into the control system of such process. Model and the main control loop are derived for the nominal case. The results obtained for the other working conditions shows the advantages of proposed here solution.
Artykuł prezentuje wyniki analizy porównawczej układu regulacji dla obiektów o wielu wejściach i wielu wyjściach MIMO, zaprojektowanego z użyciem algorytmu dynamicznego odsprzęgania, oraz odpornego układu regulacji MFC; zakłada się przy tym, że w pętli głównej regulator wyznaczony jest w drodze syntezy z użyciem dynamicznego odsprzęgania dla nominalnego modelu liniowego, wyznaczonego dla wybranego punktu pracy obiektu, natomiast regulator korekcyjny, bazujący na informacji na temat różnicy pomiędzy wyjściami modelu i procesu ma postać diagonalnej macierzy wzmocnień. Przedstawione porównanie procesu regulacji pozycji i kąta kursowego statku wiertniczego dla omawianych rozwiązań wskazuje na możliwość wykorzystania układu MFC do sterowania tego typu procesem. Model oraz główna pętla sterowania obliczane są dla nominalnego kąta kursowego, natomiast wyniki uzyskane dla innej wartości tegoż kąta wykazują, że proponowane w pracy rozwiązanie zachowuje dobre właściwości dla znaczącej perturbacji kąta kursowego statku.

In this paper, we consider cell-discovery problem in 5G millimeter-wave (mmWave) communication systems using multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) beam-forming technique. Specifically, we aim at the proper beam selection method using context-awareness of the user-equipment to reduce latency in beam/cell identification. Due to high path-loss in mmWave systems, beam-forming technique is extensively used to increase Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR). When seeking to increase user discovery distance, narrow beam must be formed. Thus, a number of possible beam orientations and consequently time needed for the discovery increases significantly when random scanning approach is used. The idea presented here is to reduce latency by employing artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) algorithms to guess the best beam orientation using context information from the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), lidars and cameras, and use the knowledge to swiftly initiate communication with the base station. To this end, here, we propose a simple neural network to predict beam orientation from GNSS and lidar data. Results show that using only GNSS data one can get acceptable performance for practical applications. This finding can be useful for user devices with limited processing power.

This article examines the performance of massive MIMO uplink system over Rician fading channel. The performance is estimated regarding spectral efficiency versus number of base station antennas utilizing three plans of linear detection, maximum-ratio-combining (MRC), zero forcing receiver (ZF), and minimum mean-square error receiver (MMSE). The simulation results reveal that the spectral efficiency increments altogether with expanding the quantity of base station antennas. Additionally, the spectral efficiency with MMSE is superior to that with ZF, and the last is superior to that with MRC. Furthermore, the spectral efficiency diminishes with expanding the fading parameter.

This paper presents a theoretical matrix analysis of antenna structure consisting of two double-element planar antennas for ultra-wideband (UWB) application in 2*2 MIMO indoor communication systems. The structure and characteristics of planar two-element UWB antenna are presented. Two matrix models of MIMO antenna system are represented in the paper. A standard MIMO signal transmission matrix without taking into consideration the coupling between antennas is described. A new approach to a full electromagnetic analysis based on the scattering matrix of the MIMO spatial antenna array is proposed. Functional power parameters for the whole MIMO UWB transmit-receive antenna structure are introduced. Results of computer simulations of different matrices describing a MIMO antenna system and the transmission propagation pulses are presented.

In this paper a method of power control policies optimization in radiointerface of mobile network with code-division multiplexing is proposed. It allows reducing the interference level in downlink and uplink channels. The optimum SNR is provided in the cell based on this power control method. The SNR is enough to ensure capacity requirements and service quality parameters.

The IEEE 802.11p standard is the basic protocol for wireless access in a vehicular environment (WAVE), providing high throughput for multimedia and high quality for vehicular transmissions. However, IEEE 802.11p fails to offer any multi-antenna approaches. In this paper, a multipleinput single-output (MISO) implementation with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), aiming to improve the performance of IEEE 802.11p, is proposed. The authors investigate the impact of time-varying channel on the performance of Alamouti space-time block codes (STBC) in OFDM systems. The Alamouti STBC approach shows good performance in slow time-varying environments, while its Alamouti space frequency block codes (SFBC) counterpart performs better over fast time-varying environments. An adaptive switching scheme is proposed to select appropriate spaceblock coding (STBC or SFBC) in vehicular channels with high mobility levels. It is shown that the proposed adaptive scheme provides better performance compared with traditional spaceblock codes.

Opis:
The blustery growth of high data rate applications leads to more energy consumption in wireless networks to satisfy service quality. Therefore, energy-efficient communications have been paid more attention to limited energy resources and environmentally friendly transmission functioning. Countless publications are present in this domain which focuses on intensifying network energy efficiency for uplink-downlink transmission. It is done either by using linear precoding schemes, by amending the number of antennas per BS, by power control problem formulation, antenna selection schemes, level of hardware impairments, and by considering cell-free (CF) Massive-MIMO. After reviewing these techniques, still there are many barriers to implement them practically. The strategies mentioned in this review show the performance of EE under the schemes as raised above. The chief contribution of this work is the comparative study of how Massive MIMO EE performs under the background of different methods and architectures and the solutions to few problem formulations that affect the EE of network systems. This study will help choose the best criteria to improve EE of Massive MIMO while formulating a newer edition of testing standards. This survey provides the base for interested readers in energy efficient Massive MIMO.

The performance of the multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems can be improved by spatial modulation. By using spatial modulation, the transmitter can select the best transmit antenna based on the channel variations using channel state information (CSI). Also, the modulation helps the transmitter to select the best modulation level such that the system has the best performance in all situations. Hence, in this paper, two issues are considered including spatial modulation and information modulation selection. For the spatial modulation, an optimal solution for obtaining the probability of selecting antenna is calculated and then Huffman coding is used such that the transmitter can select the best transmit antenna to maximize the channel capacity. For the information modulation, a multi quadrature amplitude modulation (MQAM) strategy is used. In this modulation, the modulation size is changed based on the channel state variations; therefore, the best modulation index is used for transmitting data in all channel situations. In simulation results, the optimal method is compared with Huffman mapping. In addition, the effect of modulation on channel capacity and a bit error rate (BER) is shown.

Opis:
Designing variable structure control with sliding mode (VSC-SM) control schemes needs a switching function or a sliding surface which guarantees the global stability of the closed-loop system. Despite the fact that a wide range of design approaches has been proposed for solving this mathematical problem, the number of proposed methodologies for nonlinear systems is not very extensive, especially for discrete time nonlinear MIMO systems, and most of them require some coordinate system transformation. Therefore, it is not an easy task to find a design scheme that can be applied to discrete time nonlinear MIMO systems. The proposed methodology introduces a mathematical tool: a switching surface equation for a class of MIMO nonlinear systems through an explicit equation without any coordinate transformation. This equation makes use of an implicit linearizing process via the Taylor expansion that allows the use of linear procedures for the design of switching surfaces and the forward Euler method to obtain a discrete time dynamics representation. An illustrative example is included to show the advantages of the proposed design methodology.

This paper presents a comprehensive study that examines the fundamental concept of the non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) scheme and provides its detailed comparison with the orthogonal multiple access (OMA) technique. Furthermore, the paper explores the application of the generalized singular value decomposition (GSVD) method in conjunction with NOMA, accompanied by a detailed review of GSVD-based NOMA systems. This study also introduces the concept of mobile edge computing (MEC) and extensively discusses its key parameters. Furthermore, a comprehensive analysis of NOMA MEC is presented, shedding light on its potential advantages and challenges. The aims of this study are to provide a comprehensive understanding of the aforementioned topics and contribute to the advancement of MIMO-NOMA systems.

Opis:
Massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) is considered to be an emerging technique in wireless communication systems, as it offers the ability to boost channel capacity and spectral efficiency. However, a massive MIMO system requires huge base station (BS) antennas to handle users and suffers from inter-cell interference that leads to pilot contamination. To cope with this, time-shifted pilots are devised for avoiding interference between cells, by rearranging the order of transmitting pilots in different cells. In this paper, an adaptive-elephant-based spider monkey optimization (adaptive ESMO) mechanism is employed for time-shifted optimal pilot scheduling in a massive MIMO system. Here, user grouping is performed with the sparse fuzzy c-means (Sparse FCM) algorithm, grouping users based on such parameters as large-scale fading factor, SINR, and user distance. Here, the user grouping approach prevents inappropriate grouping of users, thus enabling effective grouping, even under the worst conditions in which the channel operates. Finally, optimal time-shifted scheduling of the pilot is performed using the proposed adaptive ESMO concept designed by incorporating adaptive tuning parameters. The efficiency of the adaptive ESMO approach is evaluated and reveals superior performance with the highest achievable uplink rate of 43.084 bps/Hz, the highest SINR of 132.9 dB, and maximum throughput of 2.633 Mbps.

The paper presents results of application of various right inverses to fractional-order discrete-time perfect control in terms of improving its stability and robustness. For that reason the newly introduced σ-inverse and H-inverse are applied finally to obtain the mentioned above control strategy strictly dedicated to LTI MIMO nonsquare systems described by state-space framework. It is highlighted that parameter σ-inverse and H-inverse with different so called ‘degrees of freedom’ outperform the typical minimum-norm right T-inverse. Moreover, this new approach deals with the same class of problems concerning integer-order systems. The simulation studies performed in Matlab/Simulink environment confirm high potential of proposed here method.

With the advent of massive MIMO and mmWave, Antenna selection is the new frontier in hybrid beamforming employed in 5G base stations. Tele-operators are reworking on the components while upgrading to 5G where the antenna is a last-mile device. The burden on the physical layer not only demands smart and adaptive antennas but also an intelligent antenna selection mechanism to reduce power consumption and improve system capacity while degrading the hardware cost and complexity. This work focuses on reducing the power consumption and finding the optimal number of RF chains for a given millimeter wave massive MIMO system. At first, we investigate the power scaling method for both perfect Channel State Information (CSI) and imperfect CSI where the power is reduced by1/Nᵣ and 1/√Nᵣ respectively. We further propose to reduce the power consumption by emphasizing on the subdued resolution of Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs) with quantization awareness. The proposed algorithm selects the optimal number of antenna elements based on the resolution of ADCs without compromising on the quality of reception. The performance of the proposed algorithm shows significant improvement when compared with conventional and random antenna selection methods.

Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) is a multiple antenna technology used extensively in wireless communication systems. With the ever increasing demand in high data rates, MIMO system is the necessity of wireless communication. In MIMO wireless communication system, where the multiple antennas are placed on base station and mobile station, the major problem is the constant power of base station, which has to be allocated to data streams optimally. This problem is referred as a power allocation problem. In this research, singular value decomposition (SVD) is used to decouple the MIMO system in the presence of channel state information (CSI) at the base station and forms parallel channels between base station and mobile station. This practice parallel channel ensures the simultaneous transmission of parallel data streams between base station and mobile station. Along with this, water filling algorithm is used in this research to allocate power to each data stream optimally. Further the relationship between the channel capacity of MIMO wireless system and the number of antennas at the base station and the mobile station is derived mathematically. The performance comparison of channel capacity for MIMO systems, both in the presence and absence of CSI is done. Finally, the effect of channel correlation because of antennas at the base stations and the mobile stations in the MIMO systems is also measured.

In this paper, we examine the end-to-end average pairwise error probability (PEP) and output probability (OP) performance of the maximum ratio combining (MRC) based selective decode and forward (S-DF) system over an η–µ scattering environment considering additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). The probability distribution function (PDF) and cumulative distribution function (CDF) expressions have been derived for the received signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio and the moment generating function (MGF) technique is used to derive the novel closed-form (CF) average PEP and OP expressions. The analytical results have been further simplified and are presented in terms of the Lauricella function for coherent complex modulation schemes. The asymptotic PEP expressions are also derived in terms of the Lauricella function, and a convex optimization (CO) framework has been developed for obtaining optimal power allocation (OPA) factors. Through simulations, it is also proven that, depending on the number of multi-path clusters and the modulation scheme used, the optimized power allocation system was essentially independent of the power relation scattered waves from the source node (SN) to the destination node (DN). The graphs show that asymptotic and accurate formulations are closely matched for moderate and high SNR regimes. PEP performance significantly improves with an increase in the value of η for a fixed value of µ. The analytical and simulation curves are in close agreement for medium-to-high SNR values.

This paper presents an iterative method for the unbiased identification of linearMultiple-InputMultiple-Output (MIMO) discrete two-dimensional (2D) systems. The system discussed here has Auto-Regressive Moving-Average model with exogenous inputs (ARMAX model). The proposed algorithm functions on the basis of the traditional Iterative Generalized Least Squares (IGLS) method. In summary, this paper proposes a two-dimensional Multiple-Input Multiple-Output Iterative Generalized Least Squares (2DMIGLS) algorithm to estimate the unknown parameters of the ARMAX model. Finally, simulation results show the efficiency and accuracy of the presented algorithm in estimating the unknown parameters of the model in the presence of colored noise.

In recent, modeling practical systems as interval systems is gaining more attention of control researchers due to various advantages of interval systems. This research work presents a new approach for reducing the high-order continuous interval system (HOCIS) utilizing improved Gamma approximation. The denominator polynomial of reduced-order continuous interval model (ROCIM) is obtained using modified Routh table, while the numerator polynomial is derived using Gamma parameters. The distinctive features of this approach are: (i) It always generates a stable model for stable HOCIS in contrast to other recent existing techniques; (ii) It always produces interval models for interval systems in contrast to other relevant methods, and, (iii) The proposed technique can be applied to any system in opposite to some existing techniques which are applicable to second-order and third-order systems only. The accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed method are demonstrated by considering test cases of single-inputsingle-output (SISO) and multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) continuous interval systems. The robust stability analysis for ROCIM is also presented to support the effectiveness of proposed technique.

This article introduces a dual-functional low-profile compact multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna array for multi-band communication in 5G smartphones. The proposed eight elements of the antenna array form two different 4 ×4 MIMO systems. The first four elements are placed at the four mobile corners and operate in a single band of 3. 445– 3. 885 GHz for 5G n77 and n 78 applications. The other system, in which four antennas are positioned in the middle of the terminal board, supports two wide bands of 1 . 684– 2. 300 GHz and 4. 432 – 5. 638 for n 2, n 3, n 39, n 65, n 66, n 79 , and WLAN applications. The second iteration of a modified Peano-type fractal geometry served as the design foundation for the proposed antenna element. The system’s ground plane design is based on self-isolated and spatial diversity methods. The single-band MIMO system’s isolation is better than 23 dB. In the dual-band MIMO system that is based on self-isolation, isolation equals approximately 16 dB in the higher band and 10 dB in the lower band. To evaluate performance, radiation-related and total antenna efficiencies, scattering parameters and gains were investigated. Additionally, ECCs have been considered to evaluate MIMO performance. According to the results, such design constitutes a valuable option for MIMO applications in 5G smartphones.

In a massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system, a large number of receiving antennas at the base station can simultaneously serve multiple users. Linear detectors can achieve optimal performance but require large dimensional matrix inversion, which requires a large number of arithmetic operations. Several low complexity solutions are reported in the literature. In this work, we have presented an improved two-dimensional double successive projection (I2D-DSP) algorithm for massive MIMO detection. Simulation results show that the proposed detector performs better than the conventional 2D-DSP algorithm at a lower complexity. The performance under channel correlation also improves with the I2D-DSP scheme. We further developed a soft information generation algorithm to reduce the number of magnitude comparisons. The proposed soft symbol generation method uses real domain operation and can reduce almost 90% flops and magnitude comparisons.

In the paper problems with dynamic decoupling of the left-invertible multi-input multi-output dynamic (MIMO) linear time invariant plants using a squaring down technique are considered. The procedure of squaring down the plant model and grouping of plant inputs and outputs are discussed. The final part of the paper includes a few examples of different strategies of synthesis of a decoupled system along with conclusions and final remarks.

The paper presents design and experimental validation of a stable self-tuning PID controller for three degrees of freedom (3-DOF) helicopter. At first, it is proposed a self-tuned proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller for a class of uncertain second order multiinput multi-output nonlinear dynamic systems to which the 3-DOF helicopter dynamic model belongs. Within this scheme, the PID controller is employed to approximate unknown ideal controller that can achieve control objectives. PID controller gains are the adjustable parameters and they are updated online with a stable adaptation mechanism designed to minimize the error between the unknown ideal controller and the used by PID controller. The stability analysis of the closed-loop system is performed using Lyapunov approach. It is proven that all signals in the closed-loop system are uniformly ultimately bounded. The proposed approach can be regarded as a simple and effective model-free control since the mathematical model of the system is assumed unknown. Experimental results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

Istniejące i proponowane systemy ICT wspomagające ruch drogowy wykorzystują istniejącą infrastrukturę i sieci telekomunikacyjne, teleinformatyczne. Problematyka poziomu odbieranego sygnału, zasięgu została omówiona w wielu publikacjach. W niniejszym referacie zajęto się korzyściami płynącymi z zastosowania techniki MIMO: zwiększeniem przepustowości i niezawodności w zmiennym środowisku propagacyjnym. W referacie autor prezentuje wybrane wyniki eksperymentów symulacyjnych dla prostych układów Almaouti’ego w warunkach zaników Rayleigh’a. Dokonuje analizy porównawczej przepustowości oraz jakości kanałów radiowych (BER) dla systemu jedno i wielokanałowego.
Dedicated ICT systems for road traffic are based on infrastructure and telecommunications wireless networks. Some problems connected with level of received signal as well as have been discussed in many publications. In this paper the following advantages resulting from application of MIMO technique have been taken into account: increase of the capacity of channel as well as reliability in varied transmission medium. There have been also presented results of simulation experiments for simple Almaouti systems under conditions of Rayleigh fading. Comparison of capacity and quality (BER) of channel for SISO and multichannel systems has been also presented.

The paper deals with transmitter diversity antenna selection techniques (ASTs) for wireless channels utilizing differential space-time block codes (DSTBCs). The proposed ASTs tend to maximize the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of those channels. Particularly, we propose here the so-called general (M,N;K) AST/DSTBC scheme for such channels. Then, based on this AST, we propose two modified ASTs which are more amenable to practical implementation, namely the restricted (M,N;K) AST/DSTBC scheme and the (N + —N,N;K) AST/DSTBC scheme. The restricted (M,N;K) AST/DSTBC scheme provides relatively good bit error performance using only one feedback bit for transmission diversity purpose, while the (N+ —N,N;K) AST/DSTBC scheme shortens the time required to process feedback information. These techniques remarkably improve bit error rate (BER) performance of wireless channels using DSTBCs with a limited number (typically 1 or 2) of training symbols per each coherent duration of the channel. Simulations show that the proposed AST/DSTBC schemes outperform the DSTBCs without antenna selection even with only 1 training symbol.

The paper presents the training problem of a set of neural nets to obtain a (gain-scheduling, adaptive) multivariable neural controller for control of a nonlinear MIMO dynamic process represented by a mathematical model of Low-Frequency (LF) motions of a drillship over the drilling point at the sea bottom. The designed neural controller contains a set of neural nets that determine values of its parameters chosen on the basis of two measured auxiliary signals. These are the ship’s current forward speed measured with respect to water and the systematically calculated difference between the course angle and the sea current (yaw angle). Four different methods for synthesis of multivariable modal controllers are used to obtain source data for training the neural controller with parameters reproduced by neural networks. Neural networks are designed on the basis of 3650 modal controllers obtained with the use of the pole placement technique after having linearized the model of LF motions made by the vessel at its nominal operating points in steady states that are dependent on the specified yaw angle and the sea current velocity. The final part of the paper includes simulation results of system operation with a neural controller along with conclusions and final remarks.

In the paper methods for decoupling of dynamic multivariable systems are presented. There is discussed both static and dynamic decoupling of systems for open-loop control. The designed elements of the system provides elimination of interactions between specific plants inputs and outputs in a steady and transition state respectively. Results of considerations are illustrated by a numerical example.
W artykule omawia się sposoby odsprzęgania dynamicznych wielowymiarowych układów liniowych do celów sterowania nimi w otwartej pętli. Rozważa się zarówno odsprzęganie statyczne eliminujące interakcje między poszczególnymi wyjściami obiektu w stanach ustalonych jak i odsprzęganie dynamiczne pozwalające na eliminację tych oddziaływań również w stanach przejściowych. Rozważania zilustrowano przykładem obliczeniowym.

In the paper an adaptive linear control system structure with modal controllers for a MIMO nonlinear dynamic process is presented and various methods for synthesis of those controllers are analyzed. The problems under study are exemplified by the synthesis of a position and yaw angle control system for a drillship described by a 3DOF nonlinear mathematical model of low-frequency motions made by the drillship over the drilling point. In the proposed control system, use is made of a set of (stable) linear modal controllers that create a linear adaptive controller with variable parameters tuned appropriately to operation conditions chosen on the basis of two measured auxiliary signals. These are the ship’s current forward speed measured in reference to the water and the systematically calculated difference between the course angle and the sea current (yaw angle). The system synthesis is carried out by means of four different methods for system pole placement after having linearized the model of low-frequency motions made by the vessel at its nominal “operating points” in steady states that are dependent on the specified yaw angle and the sea current velocity. The final part of the paper includes simulation results of system operation with an adaptive controller of (stepwise) varying parameters along with conclusions and final remarks.

In this paper, two radio links with different frequency bands are considered for base stations (BS) serving users via decode-and-forward (DF) cooperative relays. Backhaul and access links are proposed with sub-6 GHz and millimeter wave (mmWave) bands, respectively. Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is employed in the backhaul link to simultaneously transmit a superposed signal in the power domain, using the same band. The superposed signals, containing two signals that differ in terms of power allocation factors (PAFs), are designed for two selected DF relays in the BS. The two relays are chosen from several relays to be serviced by the BS based on a pairing algorithm that depends on different users’ circumstances. The furthest DF relay detects the incoming NOMA signal directly, while the nearest one applies successive interference cancellation (SIC) before extracting its signal. Each DF relay forwards the detected signals toward their intended users over mmWave channels. Three performance metrics are utilized to evaluate the system’s performance: outage probability, achievable throughput, and bit error rate. Comparisons between two mmWave bands in the access link (28 and 73 GHz) are made to demonstrate the superiority of the 28 GHz band in terms of the three performance-related metrics.

Artykuł przedstawia symulowany system komunikacji bezprzewodowej 2×2 MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) z oszacowaniem kanału. System ten składa się z dwóch anten nadawczych i dwóch anten odbiorczych. W procesie szacowania kanału zastosowano podejście ortogonalnego sygnału pilotującego z wykorzystaniem sekwencji Hadamarda. W badaniach przyjęto modulowanie danych za pośrednictwem spójnego binarnego kluczowania z przesunięciem fazowym, podczas gdy ortogonalny podsystem kodowania bloków czasoprzestrzennych odpowiedzialny był za kodowanie informacji z wykorzystaniem kodu Alamouti. Wykazano odporność systemu 2×2 MIMO na deortogonalizację w przypadku, gdy ramka zawierała od 128 do 256 symboli, a rozmiar sekwencji pilotującej mieścił się w zakresie od 32 do 64 symboli.

Massive multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) and beamforming are key technologies, which significantly influence on increasing effectiveness of emerging fifth-generation (5G) wireless communication systems, especially mobile-cellular networks. In this case, the increasing effectiveness is understood mainly as the growth of network capacity resulting from better diversification of radio resources due to their spatial multiplexing in macro- and micro-cells. However, using the narrow beams in lieu of the hitherto used cell-sector brings occurring interference between the neighboring beams in the massive-MIMO antenna system, especially, when they utilize the same frequency channel. An analysis of this effect is the aim of this paper. In this case, it is based on simulation studies, where a multi-elliptical propagation model and standard 3GPP model are used. We present the impact of direction and width of the neighboring beams of 5G new radio gNodeB base station equipped with the multi-beam antenna system on the interference level between these beams. The simulations are carried out for line-of-sight (LOS) and non-LOS conditions of a typical urban environment.

Many researches have been interested in the approximation properties of Fuzzy Logic Systems (FLS), which, like neural networks, can be seen as approximation schemes. Almost all of them tackled the Mamdani fuzzy model, which was shown to have many interesting approximation features. However, only in few cases the Sugeno fuzzy model was considered. In this paper, we are interested in the zero-order Multi-Input-Multi-Output (MIMO) Sugeno fuzzy model with Beta membership functions. This leads to Beta Fuzzy Logic Systems (BFLS). We show that BFLSs are universal approximators. We also prove that they possess the best approximation property and the interpolation characteristic.

Generalized Singular Value Decomposition (GSVD) is the enabling linear precoding scheme for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems. In this paper, we extend research concerning downlink MIMO-NOMA systems with GSVD to cover bit terror rate (BER) performance and to derive an approximate evaluation of the average BER performance. Specifically, we deploy, AT the base station, the well-known technique of joint-modulation to generate NOMAsymbols and joint maximum-likelihood (ML) to recover the transmitted data at end user locations. Consequently, the joint ML detector offers almost the same performance, In terms of average BER as ideal successive interference cancellation. Next, we also investigate BER performance of other precoding schemes, such as zero-forcing, block diagonalization, and simultaneous triangularization, comparing them with GSVD. Furthermore, BER performance is verified in different configurations in relation to the number of antennas. In cases where the number of transmit antennas is greater than twice the number of receive antennas, average BER performance is superior.

In this paper, we derive an analytical expression for the exact pairwise error probability (PEP) of a space-time coded system operating over a spatially correlated slow fading channel using a moment-generating function-based approach. This analytical PEP expression is more realistic than previously published exact-PEP expressions as it fully accounts for antenna spacing, antenna geometries (uniform linear array, uniform grid array, uniform circular array, etc.) and scattering models (uniform, Gaussian, Laplacian, Von-Mises, etc.). Inclusion of spatial information provides valuable insights into the physical factors determining the performance of a space-time code. We demonstrate the strength of our new analytical PEP expression by evaluating the performance of two space-time trellis codes proposed in the literature for different spatial scenarios.

W pracy przedstawiono badania efektu Dopplera w systemach komunikacji bezprzewodowej 2×2, 3×3, 4×4 MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) z estymacją kanału. W procesie szacowania kanału zastosowano podejście sygnału pilotującego z wykorzystaniem sekwencji Hadamarda, wraz z ośmioma alternatywnymi zestawami baz ortogonalnych. Przebadano 10 przykładowych transmisji MIMO z różnymi parametrami dotyczącymi długości ramki i symboli pilotujących oraz częstotliwością Dopplera (zakres zmienny od 0 do 1100 Hz z krokiem 100 Hz). Na podstawie badań stwierdzono, że transmisje krótszych ramek MIMO są mniej wrażliwe na efekt Dopplera. Wywnioskowano, że zwiększenie liczby anten nie ma wpływu na efekt Dopplera, a wydajność współczynnika błędnych bitów (BER) w systemach 4×4 MIMO pogarsza się szybciej niż w systemach 2×2 MIMO. Autor podsumowuje, że efekt Dopplera wpływa negatywnie na jakość transmisji przy prędkościach powyżej 100 km/h, co powoduje potrzebę zmniejszenia ilości przesyłanych danych, przy jednoczesnym zmniejszeniu szybkości transmisji danych.

This work examines the efficacy of deep learning (DL) based non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) receivers in vehicular communications (VC). Analytical formulations for the outage probability (OP), symbol error rate (SER), and ergodic sum rate for the researched vehicle networks are established Rusing i.i.d. Nakagami-m fading links. Standard receivers, such as least square (LS) and minimum mean square error (MMSE), are outperformed by the stacked long-short term memory (S-LSTM) based DL-NOMA receiver. Under real time propagation circumstances, including the cyclic prefix (CP) and clipping distortion, the simulation curves compare the performance of MMSE and LS receivers with that of the DL-NOMA receiver. According to numerical statistics, NOMA outperforms conventional orthogonal multiple access (OMA) by roughly 20% and has a high sum rate when considering i.i.d. fading links.

Opis:
Underwater Acoustic Communications (UWAC) is an emerging technology in the field of underwater communications, and it is challenging because of the signal attenuation of the sound waves. Multiple Input and Multiple- Output (MIMO) is introduced in UWAC because of its support in enhancing the data throughput even under the conditions of interference, signal fading, and multipath. The paper presents the concept and analysis of 2 × 2 MIMO UWAC systems that uses a 4 - QAM spatial modulation scheme thus minimizing the decoding complexity and overcoming the Inter Channel Interference (IChI). Bit Error Rate (BER) investigation is carried out over different link distances under acoustic Line of Sight (LOS). The utilization of Zero Forcing (ZF) and Vertical-Bell Laboratories Layered Space-Time (VBLAST) equalizers, which estimates the transmitted data proves a success of removing Inter Symbol Interference (ISI). The ISI caused due to multipath effect and scattering in UWAC can be reduced by iterative process considered in VBLAST. A study is made on how the distance between the transmitter and the receiver and the Doppler Effect has its impact on the performance of the system.

Physical machine systems are represented in the form of differential equations. These differential equations may be of the higher order and difficult to analyses. Therefore, it is necessary to convert the higher-order to lower order which replicates approximately similar properties of the higher-order system (HOS). This article presents a novel approach to reducing the higher-order model. The approach is based on the hunting demeanor of the hawk and escaping of the prey. The proposed method unifies the Harris hawk algorithm and the moment matching technique. The method is applied on single input single output (SISO), multi-input multi-output (MIMO) linear time–invariant (LTI) systems. The proposed method is justified by examining the result. The results are compared using the step response characteristics and response error indices. The response indices are integral square error, integral absolute error, integral time absolute error. The step response characteristics such as rise time, peak, peak time, settling time of the proposed reduced order follows 97%–100% of the original system characteristics.

In this paper, the performance of a deep learningbased multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system is investigated for 5G radio communication networks. We consider independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) Nakagami-m fading links to prove that when using MIMO with the NOMA system, the outage probability (OP) and end-to-end symbol error rate (SER) improve, even in the presence of imperfect channel state information (CSI) and successive interference cancellation (SIC) errors. Furthermore, the stacked long short-term memory (S-LSTM) algorithm is employed to improve the system’s performance, even under time-selective channel conditions and in the presence of terminal’s mobility. For vehicular NOMA networks, OP, SER, and ergodic sum rate have been formulated. Simulations show that an S-LSTM-based DL-NOMA receiver outperforms least square (LS) and minimum mean square error (MMSE) receivers. Furthermore, it has been discovered that the performance of the end-to-end system degrades with the growing amount of node mobility, or if CSI knowledge remains poor. Simulated curves are in close agreement with the analytical results.

The article presents the results of the research conducted to assess the possibility of replacing the wiring in the connection system of the local network backbone for constructing backup connections or for the localizations where architectonic conditions do not allow performing installation works related to structural wiring of a building. Testing laboratory environment has been developed using radio devices operating in the IEEE 802.11n standard. The paper reports the results of the transmission tests in the systems of point-to-point links using the MIMO technique to determine parameters of the data transmission performance-throughput and latency. The transfer tests in the MIMO system were conducted in the indoor and outdoor environment.
W artykule przedstawiono wyniki prac badawczych prowadzonych w celu oceny możliwości zastąpienia okablowania w układach połączeń szkieletu sieci lokalnej dla realizacji połączeń rezerwowych lub dla lokalizacji z uwarunkowaniami architektonicznymi, które nie zezwalają na prace instalacyjne w zakresie okablowania strukturalnego budynku. Opracowano badawcze środowisko laboratoryjne z wykorzystaniem sprzętu radiowego działającego w standardzie IEEE 802.11n. Przedstawiono ponadto wyniki badań transmisji w układach łączy punkt-punkt z zastosowaniem techniki MIMO przeprowadzonych w celu określenia parametrów wydajności transmisji danych w postaci przepustowości oraz opóźnienia transmisji. Badania transmisji w układzie MIMO zostały wykonane w środowisku wewnątrzbudynkowym i w wolnej przestrzeni.

Massive multi input multi output (MIMO) systems incorporate orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technology to render high data rate services for future wireless communication applications. The channel estimator (CE) employed by a reliable massive MIMO-OFDM system requires huge amount of overhead in the form of known and null data transmissions, hence limiting the system spectral efficiency (SE). Often, CE design is a tradeoff between SE and system reliability. In this paper, CE with three different overhead arrangements, namely time domain synchronous (TDS), comb type with cyclic prefix (CTCP), 2D grid type with cyclic prefix (GTCP) are investigated and a GTCP based CE is proposed which offers both high SE and improved system reliability. The proposed CE uses autocorrelation based denoising threshold for channel impulse response (CIR) estimation and does not require any knowledge of channel statistics (KCS). A416 MIMO-OFDM system is simulated in a rayleigh fading channel environment with U-shaped doppler spectrum. From the bit error rate (BER) performance results in WiMax SUI-4, Advanced Television Technology Center (ATTC) and Brazil A channel environments, it is verified that the proposed CE with GTCP overhead and proposed denoising scheme, indeed improves both SE and system reliability. Hence it is suitable for application in all massive MIMO-OFDM systems.

The evolution of Wi-Fi was focused primarily on achieving successively higher theoretical speeds in the past. However, in the real world, with lots of users with diverse needs, a network needs to be designed to deliver all users an efficient communication. IEEE 802.11ax standard is an upcoming wireless network standard, which is still at the design stage. It defines new features and possibilities in Wi-Fi transmission. The article presents the description in details PHY layer and the MAC layer of this amendment. Then an analysis of challenges is carried out, which is mainly focused on the hardware design and testing.
W przeszłości ewolucja Wi-Fi koncentrowała się przede wszystkim na osiąganiu sukcesywnie wyższych teoretycznych prędkości. Natomiast w świecie realnym, przy mnóstwie użytkowników i odmiennych potrzebach, sieć musi być zaprojektowana tak, by zapewniała wszystkim użytkownikom skuteczną komunikację. Standard IEEE 802.11ax jest standardem przyszłej sieci bezprzewodowej, która nadal pozostaje w stadium projektu. Określa on nowe cechy i możliwości w transmisji Wi-Fi. Artykuł przedstawia szczegółowy opis warstwy PHY i warstwy MAC tej modyfikacji. Następnie przeprowadzono analizę wyzwań, skoncentrowaną głównie na projekcie sprzętu komputerowego i testowaniu.

W artykule przedstawia się wieloregulatorową, przełączalną strukturę układu sterowania nieliniowymi obiektami dynamicznymi MIMO na przykładzie sterowania położeniem statku wiertniczego z wykorzystaniem nieliniowego modelu wolnozmiennych ruchów statku nad punktem wiercenia w trzech stopniach swobody ruchu (3DOF). W proponowanej strukturze układu wykorzystuje się zestaw liniowych regulatorów modalnych współpracujących z dodatkowym układem sterowania w pętli otwartej, odsprzęgniętym statycznie lub dynamicznie. Syntezy układu dokonuje się poprzez linearyzację przyjętego opisu obiektu sterowania w nominalnych "punktach pracy", zależnych od zadawanego kąta kursowego statku i wartości prądu morskiego. Prezentowane wyniki badań dotyczą trzech odmian przełączalnej struktury układu: (i) klasycznej, z regulatorami modalnymi przełączanymi w momencie zmiany wartości sygnałów odniesienia gdy powodują one zmianę "punktu pracy" układu oraz nieklasycznej, w której regulatory modalne są przełączane dopiero po zadziałaniu pomocniczego układu sterowania, odsprzęgniętego (ii) statycznie lub (iii) dynamicznie. Działanie zaproponowanych odmian układów sterowania zilustrowano przykładami symulacji z nieliniowym modelem ruchów statku wiertniczego WIMPEY SEALAB w środowisku MATLAB/Simulink.
In the paper a multicontroller-based switchable control system structure is proposed to control nonlinear MIMO plants. The considered structure contains a set of linear feedback controllers operating together with an additional, decoupled loop of the control system. The nonlinear model of low-frequency (LF) motions of a drilling vessel in three degrees of freedom (3DOF) on the sea surface is used as a MIMO plant to be controlled. The system synthesis is carried out by linearisation of the adopted nonlinear plant model at its nominal "working points" that depend on the preset ship yaw angle and the see current velocity. The investigation results presented concern three types of switched structures: (i) the classic one with a set of (stable) modal controllers switched at the moment of changing the reference signals with subsequent changes of the system "working point", and the non-classic structure in which modal controllers are switched after running an auxiliary decoupled control loop either statically (ii) or dynamically (iii). Performance of the proposed control systems is illustrated by examples of simulation results carried out in MATLAB/Simulink using the nonlinear model of motions of the WIMPEY SEALAB drilling vessel.

Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO (techniques use multiple antennas at both transmitter and receiver for increasing the channel reliability and enhancing the spectral efficiency of wireless communication system.MIMO Spatial Multiplexing (SM) is a technology that can increase the channel capacity without additional spectral resources. The implementation of MIMO detection techniques become a difficult mission as the computational complexity increases with the number of transmitting antenna and constellation size. So designing detection techniques that can recover transmitted signals from Spatial Multiplexing (SM) MIMO with reduced complexity and high performance is challenging. In this survey, the general model of MIMO communication system is presented in addition to multiple MIMO Spatial Multiplexing (SM) detection techniques. These detection techniques are divided into different categories, such as linear detection, Non-linear detection and tree-search detection. Detailed discussions on the advantages and disadvantages of each detection algorithm are introduced. Hardware implementation of Sphere Decoder (SD) algorithm using VHDL/FPGA is also presented.

The paper presents one of the modern control methods used for steering of the ship motion. The different automatic systems used to navigate the vessels are described at the beginning. Next, prediction control methodology is presented and multidimensional MPC regulator applied to steering of the training ship is shown as a technical product. Tests results from the real-time experiments with the mentioned controller are presented at the end of the article.

Ship navigation safety in restricted water areas is of great concern to crew members, because ships sailing in close proximity to banks are significantly affected by the so-called ship-bank interaction. The purpose of this paper is to apply the optimal control theory to help helmsmen adjust ships’ course and maintain the target course in restricted waters. To achieve this objective, the motion of a very large crude carrier (VLCC) close to a bank is modeled with the linear equations of manoeuvring and the influence of bank effect on the ship hydrodynamic force is considered in the model. State-space framework is cast in a Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) system, where the offset-free model predictive control (MPC) is designed for course following and the linear quadratic regulator (LQR) is used for course keeping. Simulation results show that the control methods effectively work in ship course following and course keeping with varying ship-bank distances and water depths. The advantage of adopting speed variation as the second control input is obvious.

This paper demonstrates a low-profile, wide-band, two-element, frequency-reconfigurable MIMO antenna that is suitable for diverse wireless applications of 4G and 5G such as WLAN/Bluetooth (2.4–2.5 GHz), WLAN (2.4–2.484 GHz, 5.15– 5.35 GHz, and 5.725–5.825 GHz), WiMAX (3.3–3.69 GHz and 5.25–5.85 GHz), Sub6GHz band proposed for 5G (3.4–3.6 GHz, 3.6-3.8GHz and 4.4–4.99 GHz), INSAT and satellite X-band(6 to 9.6 GHz). Proposed MIMO favour effortless switching between multiple bands ranging from 2.2 to 9.4 GHz without causing any interference. Both antenna elements in a MIMO array are made up of a single module comprised of a slot-loaded patch and a defective structured ground. Two PIN diodes are placed in the preset position of the ground defect to achieve frequencyreconfigurable qualities. The suggested MIMO antenna has a size of 62 ×25 ×1.5 mm3. Previous reconfigurable MIMO designs improved isolation using a meander line resonator, faulty ground structures, or self-isolation approaches. To attain the isolation requirements of modern devices, stub approach is introduced in proposed design. Without use of stub, simulated isolation is 15dB. The addition of a stub improved isolation even more. At six resonances, measured isolation is greater than 18 dB, the computed correlation coefficient is below 0.0065, and diversity gain is over 9.8 dB.

The ever-growing need for high data rate, bandwidth efficiency, reliability, less complexity and less power consumption in our communication systems is on the increase. Modern techniques have to be developed and put in place to meet these requirements. Research has shown, that compared to conventional Single Input Single Output (SISO) systems, Multiple-Input Single Output (MISO), and Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) can actually increase the data rate of a communication system, without actually requiring more transmit power or bandwidth. This paper aims at the investigation of the existing channel estimation techniques. Based on the pilot arrangement, the block type and comb type are compared, employing the Least Square estimation (L.S) and Minimum Mean Squared Error (MMSE) estimators. Pilots occupy bandwidth, minimizing the number of pilots used to estimate the channel, in order to allow for more bandwidth utilization for data transmission, without compromising the accuracy of the estimates is taken into consideration. Various channel interpolation techniques and pilot-data insertion ratio are investigated, simulated and compared, to determine the best performance technique with less complexity and minimum power consumption. As performance measures, the Mean Squared Error (MSE) and Bit Error Rate (BER) as a function of Signal to Noise power Ratio (SNR) of the different channel estimation techniques are plotted, in order to identify the technique with the most optimal performance. The complexity and energy efficiency of the techniques are also investigated. The system modelling and simulations are carried out using Matlab simulation package. The MIMO gives the optimum performance, followed by the MISO and SISO. This is as a result of the diversity and multiplexing gain experienced in the multiple antenna techniques using the STBC.
