Artykuł podejmuje zagadnienie prawdy w literaturze. Punktem wyjścia dla analiz jest koncepcja Romana Ingardena. Odmawia on dziełu literackiemu jako dziełu sztuki prawdziwości w sensie logicznym. Według Ingardena literackie dzieło sztuki jako przedmiot czysto intencjonalny niczego nie orzeka o świecie transcendentnym. Prawdę w dziele literackim można jednakże ujmować jako jej objawianie.
This article deals with the issue of truth in literature by considering Roman Ingarden’s account. He denies that literary work as a work of art can be true in a logical sense. As a purely intentional object, a literary work of art decides nothing about a transcendent world. The truth in a literary work, however, can be understood as its revelation.

The present sketch proposes an interpretation of one of the most important poems of the early poetry written by Marcin Świetlicki. At the same time, the reading of the poem is paired with a simultaneous analytical interpretation providing the standard analytical scheme usually applied to any poetical work (this scheme is based on a sequence of recognitions that refer to: 1. writing, 2. euphony, 3. semantics of spaces concentrated with meaning, 4. the structure of the presented world. A presentation of the four fundamental steps in the analysis is accompanied with a reflection on the paradox of interpretation, the corresponding model of which is in the poem the outlined mirror image of identity between the “opaque” depth and “overt” surface.

The article reconstructs the development of Ingarden’s viewpoint on the notions of content and form of a literary work of art. The author of the article thus calls up a specific methodological proposition formulated by the phenomenologist, emphasizing the fact that he presented an innovative and original understanding of both these notions. He built his own understanding of content and form on the basis of the layered structure of literary works of art. Assumptions of the latter became the source of concrete and precise formulations of the meaning of both categories, which – in accordance with the message of the article – seem commendable and worth of being employed by the contemporary researchers of literature.

The purpose of the article is to locate liberature within a greater historical and theoretical framework, and to propose an understanding of liberature as a genre. For many years, materiality of literature has been excluded from literary studies, finding its shelter either in library and information studies or among editors. Recently, this tendency has been changing rapidly, as the variety of studies and theories on electronic literacy, new media literacy or the visual aspects of widely recognised works do not cease to prove. Liberature is no exception in this matter. It is argued that the increasing interest in liberature, along with its reception, provides a fertile ground for reading it as an independent genre. With this assumption in mind, the very notion of genre should no longer be perceived as a fixed collection of bounding rules and categorising devices, but rather as the dialogic and creative space aiming at influencing and referring to other texts. In this sense, such a position of liberature, already recognised in Polish literary criticism, might genuinely serve its predominant purpose to explore the refreshing and effective methods of reading, which apply- but are not limited-to the germinating liberary tradition. In fact, they may stimulate new interpretations of diverse preceding texts, whose both materiality and visuality have been repressed.
Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ulokowanie liberatury w szerszej perspektywie historycznej i teoretycznej oraz zaproponowanie jej rozumienia jako gatunku. Przez wiele lat, materialność literatury nie była pełnoprawnym przedmiotem badań literackich, znajdując schronienie jedynie w bibliotekoznastwie, badaniach nad informacjami, czy znajdując zainteresowanie u redaktorów. W ostatnim czasie, ten trend uległ gwałtownym przemianom, głownie dzięki licznym teoriom elektronicznej literackości, literackości nowomedialnej czy wizualnych aspektów dzieł literackich, a także licznym studiom badawczym traktującym o powyższych tematach. Liberatura nie jest w tej kwestii wyjątkiem. Rosnące zainteresowanie nią i jej repcja dostarczają obiecującej przestrzeni czytania jej jako samodzielnego gatunku. Podążając za takim założeniem, musimy jednak przemyśleć kategorię gatunku na nowo, nie jako zbiór wiążąchych reguł i porządkujących kategorii, a raczej jako dialogiczną i twórczą sferę wpływów i odniesień do innych teekstów. Tym smym, liberatura, zauważona poprzez polską krytykę literacką, może służyć swojemu najistotniejszemu celowi: odkrywania odświeżających i efektywnych metod czytelnicznych, które obejmują tradycję liberacką (choć nie tylko ją). W gruncie rzeczy, mogą one stymulować nowe interpretacje licznych, już istniejących tekstów, których aspekty wizualne i materialne były dotychczas niezauważalne.

Celem tego artykułu jest prezentacja Romana Ingardena koncepcji opalizacji i oscylacji literackich. Problem specyficznej literackiej niejednoznaczności, niejasności, zmienności zostanie rozważony na dwóch uzupełniających się płaszczyznach. Na płaszczyźnie pierwszej opisane zostanie zjawisko opalizacji i oscylacji brzmienia i znaczenia wyrażenia językowego, zaś na płaszczyźnie drugiej zostanie ono uchwycone w warstwie literackich wyglądów i przedmiotów przedstawionych. Przyjęcie takiego porządku rozważań pozwoli wskazać na te „miejsca” literackiego dzieła sztuki, w których zjawisko to jest wyraźnie obecne i niekiedy przesądza o jego wartości estetycznej.
The aim of this article is to present Roman Ingarden’s concept of literary opalization and oscillation. The problem of specific literary ambiguity, vagueness, variability will be considered on two complementary planes. The first plane will describe the phenomenon of opalescence and oscillation of the sound and meaning of a linguistic expression, while the second plane will focus on the layer of literary appearances and represented objects. Adopting such an order of considerations will make it possible to indicate those ‘places’ of a literary work of art in which this phenomenon is clearly present and sometimes determines its aesthetic value.

They are based on a cognitive foundation. The processes of cognitive infor-mation processing are universal on a global scale. Therefore, we are able to indicate sim-ilarities within the independent literature. This article is to indicate the basic processes through which we build the spaces of a literary work. This will primarily be the merging of the contents of mental maps and representations contained in them.

The theme of the description and analysis are the titles of stories in the collection „Na Skalnym Podhalu” by Kazimierz Tetmajer, as well as the title of the whole book itself. The aim of this description is to indicate the formal (syntactic) and semantic differentiation of titles, to present their stylistic and textual conditions and determine the function which they have in the structure of individual stories and in the whole collection. As far as the form is concerned, one can distinguish between double (3) and simple (36) titles. A considerable number of simple titles are in the form of a sentence (10), one title represents announcements (nominal sentences), the remaining ones (25) are the titles in the form of notification. The most common and the most characteristic titles for that collection are the titles-sentences with a structure of Jak umarł Jakub Zych and determining announcements with a structure of O Wojtku cudaku. In terms of semantics, the titles of stories represent the basic type which is informative and descriptive one because they provide information on the content of stories: most often about main characters or plot themes, less frequently about the place of the action, theme or type of the text. One of the titles has an interpretative value. The titles occurring in “Na Skalnym Podhalu” strongly correlate with the style of texts in the collection, where the dominant principle is folklore. This principle is visible in the stylisation of the Podhale dialect and in the stylisation of a tale as the form of oral folk tale. Thus, the presence of dialect forms and dialect lexis as well as many proper names which were authentic lexically and often also denotatively, being connected with geographical and cultural space of the Podhale region and Tatra mountains. Furthermore, the pattern “O + miejscownik” (About + locative) referring to metatextual and pragmatic frame of oral folk tales also occurs very often. The titles of stories in the collection “Na Skalnym Podhalu” not only perform the typical delimitative, distinctive and identifying functions but also descriptive and — as in the case of the title of the whole book — integrative ones.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest próba popularyzacji twórczości Jana Żabczyca, XVII-wiecznego, dobrze wówczas znanego poety dworskiego, który dzisiaj należy do grona twórców pozostających w cieniu wielkich nazwisk epoki. Dużą popularność zdobył sobie już u współczesnych. Jednak od XVIII w. wraz ze zmianami gustów literackich, jego dorobek zaczyna iść w zapomnienie. Pomimo skąpych informacji o pisarzu i jego twórczości w opracowaniach naukowych, nawet krótkie wzmianki o poecie zawierają pochlebnie opinie o nim, akcentujące przede wszystkim dużą wartość jednego dzieła – Symfonii anielskich. To właśnie kolędy stały się najbardziej reprezentatywnym dla Żabczyca zbiorem, chociaż w innych poeta również potrafił zabłysnąć talentem. Z pewnością jego twórczość zasługuje na poznanie, a w efekcie na uznanie.
The aim of this article is an attempt at popularizing Jan Żabczyc’s writings. Żabczyc was a very popular early Baroque court poet who nowadays seems to be unappreciated and lost among the great names of his times. He was well acclaimed in his lifetime, but since 18th century, when a change in literary tastes took place, his legacy started to sink into oblivion. There is not too much information concerning his life and activity in the critical works, those authors who mention him, however, regard his poems as works of high literary value, emphasizing one particular collection of his poems (Christmas carols) Symfonie anielskie. Żabczyc is best known for his carols, but he was also able to show literary skill in his other poems. Certainly his writings deserve to be discovered anew, and in effect appreciated again.

The Polish version of the article was published in “Roczniki Humanistyczne,” vol. 59 (2011), issue 1. In the article a reflection is proposed on literature’s inner problems concentrated around the concept of literary convention. It seems that in the postmodernist demands to give more attention to those voices in literature that up till now have been “muffled,” “passed over” and “oppressed,” the meaning of the concept of “convention” has been distorted. However, its proper understanding is as elementary for the existence and development of literature as treating a literary work as an artificially organized form, and not as the writer’s confession. The author of the article, on the basis of the definitions formulated by the formalist-structuralist school, discusses the inner, aesthetic laws of literature dictated and defined by literary convention and tradition, and he indicates that it is them – more than political, social or moral causes—that in the natural process of creation and development of literature cause that some voices, perhaps, cannot be fully heard.

The first part of the article presents Lotman’s position in an evolutionary perspective from Lectures on structural poetics (1964) to Culture and explosion (1992). Reading literary works gives the opportunity to explore various issues related to one’s own development, enriches the process of thinking and experience. It is on the basis of intellectual experience where the educational impact of literature begins, motivating to reflection and evaluation. Metaphors and symbols in the text allow the performance of emotional insight in oneself and realization of what can be done. A mental suggestion appears which is a thought leading to a change in the attitudes and acceptance of new values. Educational process in shaping the values may be supported by reading literature. The article presents the opportunity to broaden the process of upbringing through reading and analysing the book The Master and Margarita.
Czytanie utworów literackich daje możliwość poznania różnych kwestii związanych z własnym rozwojem, wzbogaca proces myślenia i przeżycia. To na gruncie przeżycia intelektualnego rozpoczyna się wychowawcze oddziaływanie literatury, która motywuje do przemyśleń i wartościowania. Metafory i symbole zawarte w tekście pozwalają na przeprowadzenie emocjonalnego wglądu w siebie i uświadomienie tego, co można zrobić. Pojawia się sugestia mentalna, a więc myśl, która prowadzi do zmiany danej postawy i przyjęcia nowych wartości. Proces wychowawczy w kształtowaniu wartości może być wspierany czytaniem literatury. Artykuł ukazuje możliwość poszerzania procesu wychowania przez czytanie i analizę książki Mistrz i Małgorzata.
